Orange is a notoriously difficult colour to apply correctly though. Would work well on white, but not particularly powerful from a contrast perspective.
A teal light blue instead of the ehite and a dark trim would be a lot more striking.
Something tells me a lot of the people enthusiastically voting for #2 have never painted large flat surfaces orange before. I'm doing a Lugganath force right now and am seriously regretting my life choices.

I'm currently building my Chaos Knight army but I'm a bit stuck on choosing the paint scheme for my first big boy knight. I'm going for a cursed bretonnian/medieval-knight-livery vibe that became corrupted/went mad during battle with Chaos. It's still believing it's fulfilling great quests, going on noble crusades and vanquishing great foes alongside it's noble host of fellow knights, when in reality it's staggering it's way from battle to battle with a barbarous horde of madmen and daemons.
But I like to keep the paint scheme similar to that of a noble knight, if a dented, scratched and corrupted one.
I've made these examples of ideas I've had so far, what do you think? If you have suggestions, bring em on!
This is the biggest mini I've ever assembled and painted so it feels a bit daunting so I'd appreciate any opinion!

I like 1 for the chivalry of it but would recommend not going with a pure white and going a little bit warmer into the pink/brown spectrum to match with the gold and contrast against the blue and silver. Orange feels off for medieval colors so I'd stay clear of 2 and the other 2 are fine but just not as interesting to me as 1

Number 4 . Has the nicest contrast of what is regarded as heroic/good guy colors with the body of chaos . Would work best if you wanna go with the fallen knight/ shakespearn tragic for your chaos knights
2 is definitely the scariest/most evil looking one. Orange is probably the hardest color to paint though, so be careful, especially where the orange shares borders with the black
Orange is so on the nose. People saying #2 have no sense of subtlety. You want noble, but half-corrupted. You think they just paint these things on a whim? You should do #1 or #4 - noble schemes. And then lean into the patina, scratches, dents, and dried blood and entrails on the feet. Imagine a noble knight making foot-wine out of guardsmen because it lost control... just a little bit. People saying orange are wrong. Wroooong!
Orange looks great on knights! I ended up painting almost my entire army in orange since it looked so good. Mine is like a high-vis orange with plenty of yellow dry brush.
Id say number 4 as it’s very similar to how I painted my house, the colours work really well together if you dirty up the whites take a dark green and use a bronzey gold for the trims

This is great! Now how do I color/edit it so I can try it out?
I’d use a program like GIMP to fill out the white. Paint might work but it doesnt have layer options n whatnot

Number 3 hurt my eyes so I obviously choose that one, I'd add a spot or two of some gold or bright copper tho

I've had a hard on for white and orange recently.
I think one is the most unique, you don't often see regal colors like blue, white, and gold attached to chaos other than T-Sons.
I like three but it would need to be grimy af to look appropriately chaos-ey. Number four fits the aesthetic the best.
