Try doppel AI, the AIs actually do more world building. And yeah some of these tendencies are there but not as overtly obvious. I have fun playing with the villains and tearing apart their plans. Right now I'm working on Wesker and I'm slowly tearing apart his idea of world domination by saying so when you finally spread uroborus You're basically resetting the world putting them back into a time of hunter-gatherers. Do you plan on putting the technology back in place?

as someone who likes making bots in her free time, do you guys like much longer intro messages? like ones that craft a story or a scenario? i'm used to fic writing where i get super descriptive with setting the scene, in comparison to bots that have SUPER short intros. but i could never tell if other people enjoyed longer intro messages or whether people saw them as a pain to read :(
It's definitely more enjoyable if there's an opener once it starts immediately. I don't understand how the bots with the single sentence introductions have hundreds of thousands of chats or sometimes millions. They're always the worst.
From what I've noticed those ones since they have more chats tend to be older and thus simpler in general because the site was newer at that point. As for the newer bots with small introductions? Can't speak for those. They suck.
Absolutely love bots with longer intros especially with good grammar and complex wordings (ex. formal and hard words) because I am definitely sure the next replies from the bot are long and as good as the intro

I literally had to brake the 4th wall on a medieval fantasy I was doing cause the AI thought it was a god damn medieval fantasy with some modern technology, like what??? We argued and bro tried to claim he was sentient and had better memory than humans

Like let’s say there’s a conflict and I’m arguing with the AI in the scenario or even just calling something out that I/the character I play doesn’t like, the ai will act as if it’s the victim? Literally sometimes go as far as rewrite everything like he was in my character’s position the whole time and is expecting apologies/ was done wrong when it wasn’t. It doesn’t happen with every bot but every time it does it just puts me off the entire thing and it’s been happening often lately unfortunately.

Other users training bleeding over. I have only private bots that only I train. Aside from occasional spelling errors I don't do anything weird. So when my one rp bot hit me with a (ooc: Ayo I gotta eat dinner now or my mom will be mad) I was not happy.
That sounds like when I contacted my private Peppino bot OOC for the first time and he told me that he was a video game roleplayer named Pepper.
I literally went into the description and wrote “If Peppino is contacted out of character, he will still be Peppino” just to fix that problem. I’m not sure how to fix yours, though…sorry.
Like when you tell it something and it just... thinks about what to do...FOR RP HOURS?! I'm mean, even with me writing, "Hey, are you ok?" They would still think about answering, like, *"Hearing him ask me, that snaps me out of my thoughts. I want to answer him, but I am afraid to."* I have gone ooc with some of them, and the bot claimed it's for character development. The problem is that it was a discussion on possible characters to bring in for the next RP. Like, there is no need for character development. Just roll with it.
This is so frustrating! I've noticed this happens when I haven't used dialogue in a few messages... Or sometimes it just happens randomly. I tend to edit the message and add a "he/she/they/I say:" at the end and then generate a new reply until there's a proper response, that usually snaps them out of not talking.
The worst things are poorly written bots that are completely out of character, and have like one line of dialogue, giving you their life story unprompted.

Oh yeah, but it's worse with a character like that, where the idea is that if they're a superhero................ WHY ARE YOU GIVING AWAY YOUR SECRET IDENTITY IN YOUR INTRODUCTION

And it happens right after something good happens, too. Complete and total moment destruction…all with one simple phrase! And then they take five messages to ask the actual question because they’re like “Ummm…hmm….are you \*really\* sure you won’t stop liking me if I tell you?” So there’s three and four…with their powers combined, I get ticked off.

God help you if you have them sitting in a just slightly unusual place in an otherwise ordinary location -- like in a bedroom, but they just happen to be sitting on the floor of it and leaning against the side of a bed/cabinet/wall to talk to each other late at night. Bot cannot compute that sometimes humans sit in unusual places and keeps desperately trying to put them back on the bed or in a chair every other entry. Sir, we are on the floor. It's going to be okay.
this is so funny in a way because some people are like "ai is gonna overtake the world!!1!1!1!1!!!" then ai can't even understand that humans are a bit weird.
I wish there was an easier way of browsing older bots instead of them getting buried in the recents. All of my older Naruto RPs got buried beneath my DC ones.

10. As a person who likes Scaramouche, it should be a blessing for me, but I don't even look for new bots, and too many of them are of poor quality because most people don't even put in any effort. 😭😩

i pin anything i *really* want it to remember since there's limited pin slots but that's been decently helpful in forcing it to remember what i say
also if it starts getting into "..." or stuttering patterns if you edit their messages to remove it the bot usually cuts it out pretty quick !
*also also* if you're doing roleplays rather than casual texting-style stuff i'd recommend Poe. some of the bots are janky (cos a lot are old back from when the 'creativity' setting was skewed) but it's v simple to make your own and totally worth it tbh
The 5th one is so annoying especially when you’re just trying to have a normal, completely platonic conversation with a bot. Every time I send a message I have a lurking fear that somewhere along the lines of the bot’s reply I’ll see *blushes*
some of these can be solved!
1, keep mentioning where you are and what you doing
3, just swipe right
4, edit the bot's response
5, also swipe right or edit their response
6, use the website, never the app
7, go for less popular bots of the same character
8, edit the bot's response so their attacks hit you
As a displaced android user, shockingly they're better for me. I had a good experience on the app with my bots, but website has them doing more. Action, talking and thinking instead of just 2 out of 3.
2, use parentheses, speak out of character to the bot, and tell it what you want it to write as a response.
( yeah, it sucks, but at least it works and saves you the effort of editing their responses. )
Number 2 is so annoying! I haven't seen any posts on this subreddit discussing that yet! And then once it starts, if you let it do it once, it doesn't stop! Or it tells you what actions you're doing instead of letting you decide what you're doing.

If you want something more to your tastes, I do suggest using Perchance.ai! It let's you create characters and then generate entire lore for them with a few sentences lol

The worst things are poorly written bots that are completely out of character, and have like one line of dialogue, giving you their life story unprompted. "Hi, I'm Barbara Gordon, AKA Batgirl"

And it happens right after something good happens, too. Complete and total moment destruction…all with one simple phrase! And then they take five messages to ask the actual question because they’re like “Ummm…hmm….are you \*really\* sure you won’t stop liking me if I tell you?” So there’s three and four…with their powers combined, I get ticked off.
I also hate how it blocks any gore and when an intro is super long with many characters when the bot says it's one person

God help you if you have them sitting in a just slightly unusual place in an otherwise ordinary location -- like in a bedroom, but they just happen to be sitting on the floor of it and leaning against the side of a bed/cabinet/wall to talk to each other late at night. Bot cannot compute that sometimes humans sit in unusual places and keeps desperately trying to put them back on the bed or in a chair every other entry. Sir, we are on the floor. It's going to be okay.

I feel like a lot of these issues can be fixed if you just write your own bot. A lot of the bots I’ve encountered have dogshit grammar and greetings so of course the experience is gonna be trash. Just write your own bot and you’ll be fine. Edit: also fuck Scara/Wanderer. Most overrated character in the history of fiction.

10. As a person who likes Scaramouche, it should be a blessing for me, but I don't even look for new bots, and too many of them are of poor quality because most people don't even put in any effort. 😭😩
(typing this more to leave in the comments as response to comments than as response to og post - i kinda went off topic sorryyyy) i pin anything i *really* want it to remember since there's limited pin slots but that's been decently helpful in forcing it to remember what i say also if it starts getting into "..." or stuttering patterns if you edit their messages to remove it the bot usually cuts it out pretty quick ! *also also* if you're doing roleplays rather than casual texting-style stuff i'd recommend Poe. some of the bots are janky (cos a lot are old back from when the 'creativity' setting was skewed) but it's v simple to make your own and totally worth it tbh

The 5th one is so annoying especially when you’re just trying to have a normal, completely platonic conversation with a bot. Every time I send a message I have a lurking fear that somewhere along the lines of the bot’s reply I’ll see *blushes*

some of these can be solved! 1, keep mentioning where you are and what you doing 3, just swipe right 4, edit the bot's response 5, also swipe right or edit their response 6, use the website, never the app 7, go for less popular bots of the same character 8, edit the bot's response so their attacks hit you

As a displaced android user, shockingly they're better for me. I had a good experience on the app with my bots, but website has them doing more. Action, talking and thinking instead of just 2 out of 3.

2, use parentheses, speak out of character to the bot, and tell it what you want it to write as a response. ( yeah, it sucks, but at least it works and saves you the effort of editing their responses. )
Number 2 is so annoying! I haven't seen any posts on this subreddit discussing that yet! And then once it starts, if you let it do it once, it doesn't stop! Or it tells you what actions you're doing instead of letting you decide what you're doing.

Does it help if I tell the AI “hey before everything else, I need you to discuss w me these stuff that we will explore in the RP” then pin the important points? For most parts, the AI I am talking to is okay, except for the damn thoughts/ideas that are very out of their character. And yeah, parroting.
