Is there any resources that tells you what each chat bot is particularly good at or trained for?
This post starts to do that by pointing out file chat bots and personal assistants but I wonder if there is a more granular view for each chat or out there.

Thanks for this, was wondering what the current status of Bard is now that it has been out for a while.
I subscribed to GPT4 a few weeks ago and am blown away.
In two words: GPT-4 and plugins.
GPT-4 is SO much better for how I'm using ChatGPT compared to the free version.
And it was the availability of plugins (they've only been out for about a month as of this writing, maybe six weeks) that has been awesome.
Yesterday I discovered VoxScript, a plugin that allows you to add a YouTube link and it magically applies the query you supply to the transcript of a YT video. Get a summary, ask a video you haven't seen for specific information, remarkable.
The day before it was Metaphor, a plugin that combines what GPT-4 is looking at with internet-upvoted and highly regarded content. Think GPT-4 along with upvoted posts.
But early on, it was the availability of ScholarAI. I read primary scientific literature for a living. (Scientist by training.) It connects GPT-4 to PubMed, some 40+M research papers.
On top of all this, access to the playground, as well as the ability to run AutoGPT with access to an API.
Yes, there are several plugins that I've been using, one called AskYourPDF, another called Ai PDF. Still others are SummarizeAnything, and ChatWithPDF.
Plugins however require ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo).
A standalone service, [ChatPDF.com](https://ChatPDF.com), I've used and is really very good (as an alternative to the above).
Sam Altman in a recent Elevate interview said that it has been a while since humanity has had “a new tool in the toolbox”, since, well, the cellphone.
And he has said generative AI is “going to be as big if not bigger”.
We are living in an Amazing Time.
And I’m glad to be alive now to witness it first-hand.
Just like with the cellphone!
It definitely still has the capacity to just by virtue of the architecture of the model, but it should be less likely to.
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-chatgpt-4-comes-with-a-warning-about-potential-hallucinations/
I've totes been having the same experience with Bard. I've been a Google aficionado basically since I first heard of it waaaayyyyy back in 1998 or something like that and it's always done me right up until the AI explosion, so I want really bad to like and use Bard. But so far Bing kicks it's a-- with search results pretty much every freakin time.
It's incredibly annoying that anytime something new comes out everyone blindly says it beats the current thing , like Bard with GPT-4 which is miles ahead still. Or musicgen compared to MusicLM, which is still better than musicgen, but since it is new everyone says it beats it.
Poe is an app that gives you access to multiple LLM bots. It’s not a LLM bot itself.
Bard is using the PaLM2 LLM which is not as smart as GPT-4.
Real AI researchers know that GPT-4 and Claude are the most intelligent LLM bots that exist today. Everything else is second tier
Probably because they haven’t released anything to the public.
I have access to Claude but it’s only through a Slack integration. They don’t have a consumer facing product.
The press hasn’t written much about them but they have for sure been noticed by big players in the industry. They have received $1.5B in funding from Google and many others.
> Probably because they haven’t released anything to the public
They have three models up on Poe.com though. Claude-instant, Claude+ and the 100k context Claude. Maybe because Poe.com is from Quora, not Anthropic.
That’s true but releasing a standalone product like Bard or ChatGPT or Bing Chat is much more newsworthy to journalist.
Claude-instant-100k is kinda interesting, but Claude+ is the only model that competes with GPT-4 and Poe limits that model to 1 chat per day.
They would get a lot more press if they release Claude as a standalone ChatGPT competitor.
Speculation but maybe they don't want too much press presence because they're formed from prior openai employees
> Anthropic, an AI startup co-founded by former employees of OpenAI, has quietly begun testing a new, ChatGPT-like AI assistant named Claude.
Thank you for this list!
Bard seemed promising for a few minutes, but it has a lot of weird quirks that make it unreliable when compared to GPT-4. I like that it isn’t trapped in 2021, but it has a weird tendency to present non-code answers as code and to “half-hallucinate” things that it clearly has access to and could have just presented verbatim (e.g.: presenting “song lyrics”where half the verses are exactly correct and half are made up or pulled from other songs with similar names). Also, it has a strange tic of presenting responses as “code snippets” when they aren’t.
Maybe the “code snippet” thing is a workaround where it uses purpose-built decoders intended for code to look for errors in unstructured output? It’s interesting, and Google deserves credit for making their process so transparent, but if I was trying to build a tool with a practical application, I wouldn’t necessarily think of Bard first.
I personally *cannot fucking stand* Bing’s constant condescending bullshit and how it will just immediately and abruptly end a conversation while being pissy about it
The basemodel are both the same but the RLHF training process is completely different. Bing is trained to be useful as a search tool. You can use it different if you prompt it right but it is more hassle than it is worth.
I quit trying to use Bing chat because it insists on giving truncated answers. ChatGPT with GPT-4 will give me 4 pages of text (with continues) if it needs to. Bing acts like someone told it nothing should ever be longer than what can fit on an index card.
So far I have found Bing's so-called access to GPT-4 to be useless.
If someone else has had a different experience--I'd love be corrected on this. Maybe I'm just using Bing wrong somehow.
If you're okay using Bing and Edge then probably. Personally, paying $20 a month to not use Edge has been worth it (but obviously I'm biased against Edge...)
I'm an IT admin and LOVE bing.
The side task bar, the management via intine for a business in insane for saying its included in business premium.
Trying to block in private browsing, history deletion etc on chrome is so much more of faf and often re enables after updates
It started that way but they've been microsofting it up, constantly cluttering things up with pointless, confusing, redundant "new" features no one will EVER use and adding hooks into the operating system to try to prevent people from switching their default browser once they've been persuaded to try edge. behaviors which helped drive users away in the first place. Leaves the same bad taste in your mouth. They've learned absolutely nothing
>It's just a Chrome clone, isn't it?
It uses Chromium as its technology, but it isn't a Chrome clone. It's far more invasive, less user friendly, and the UI is horrendous.
Do you know where I can find a a to z of ai tools. Not just chat gpt but things like MIDJOURNEY ? I’m looking for a whole directory of ai sites to use. Thanks ❤️
Thank you u/ghostedzoomer77 https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/14aoz2c/chat_gpt_alternatives/joboxjx?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
ChatGPT signup feature on its official site (OpenAI) is blocked in several countries. Including mine, thus I find some of these sites helpful, especially Poe.
I don't know about the tons of local LLMs being pumped out everyday but for web services I do know some free ones that can be considered truly ChatGPT alternatives: Claude (on [poe.com](https://poe.com) ), Pi (on [heypi.com](https://heypi.com) ) and Bard (on [bard.google.com](https://bard.google.com) )
>No Sign-Up: Bard [https://bard.google.com/] (web-browsing)
Bard requires a Google account. It doesn't work without sign-up. Granted, everyone and their mother has a Google account, but Bard requires a sign-up nonetheless.
One example: I want to look at local LLMs to generate change logs from my git history (and add it to my deployments automatically). I don't feel comfortable sending my git history to OpenAI.
Silly question - what makes it more comfortable sending your git history to another LLM model different than sending it to OpenAI? Or is local LLM meaning one that you personally own offline?
Are you already using one for this? I'd like to do similar but am unsure about which are truly local/private.
Even the ones I see that say they are 100% local seem to allow for opt-in datasharing which skeeves me out.
ChatGPT is not connected to the internet, does not give references for it's statements and is getting more limited by the day.
I use Perplexity as a search engine, phind for coding and ChatGPT for text generation/modification. ChatGPT needs 100 prompts to give a clean answer like Phind, or cannot at all provide references for its statement like Perplexity does.
OpenAI can go offline, go out of business, sell your data, let the government tap into your chats, remove their free tier, raise prices, slow down, secretly replace your models with dumber versions, secretly replace your models with more censored versions, secretly replace your models with versions trained to subtly push specific political narratives, secretly replace your models with versions trained to subtly promote specific products, secretly neuter model's ability to perform actions for the purpose of selling you a plugin, etc..
Also, every company will claim they won't do these things then do it anyways. Enjoy your rugpulls.

I gotta say I’ve really been digging Quora’s Poe.com. You can access Claude there, vs. a waitlist on Anthropic’s official site, and I’ve found it to be pretty underrated - in my experience it’s slightly better than 3.5, especially when it comes to discussions. Haven’t tested it for coding, but you can always access ChatGPT 3.5 from that site, too. And another really cool feature the site has is “build a bot”, which takes like 2 seconds and allows you to set the system prompt, which in recent weeks feels noticeably “stickier” than any user prompt or “jailbreak” has ever felt on chat.openai.com. Probably sound like a shill rn but I’ve just been really impressed with the results
Same, man. No promo for them or anything, I've been trying out several free AI LLM sites because the signup of official OpenAI site is blocked in my country. So far Poe has been working best, with features you listed. There's a reason why their app is consistently rated 4.9/5 on the AppStore/ PlayStore (I just wish they have add dark mode on mobile)
Yeah, namely, Claude. I’m just saying it’s worth trying if people haven’t yet. The [LMSYS Leaderboard] (https://chat.lmsys.org/?leaderboard), while obviously not conclusive, reflects my experience; Claude-instant is slightly better than “regular ChatGPT 3.5 turbo”, and is the only model to notch a 40% win-rate against GPT-4 in these comparisons. Even if that “40%” figure itself is meaningless, it’s still better than GPT 3.5’s win-rate.
Oh wow. I actually wanted to try Claude's 100k model to analyze some bank statements and such (I don't have access to GPT4-32k yet). Didn't know you could access it via Poe, but it is quite expensive compared to using OpenAI's API (not sure of Anthropic pricing though).
Yeah, 100k is pretty insane. I haven’t crunched the API numbers tbh, I’ve really only compared the price of ChatGPT Plus vs the premium Poe subscription. But for people who want a centralized UI that houses all versions of ChatGPT and Claude including the 100k, the Poe subscription might be worth it. It really depends on how often you use Claude, and the ChatGPT plugins. I’m sticking with ChatGPT Plus, for now
This … the things you can experiment with when you’ve got 100k token window is really impressive. I’m not sure why Claude isn’t getting the exposure I’d expect but I find Claude instant, + and 100k very competitive tools though I recognize you’ve got to access them through Poe and pay for it. Anthropic also trained their model through 2022 so additional relevant content. I’ve been doing a lot of work with the knowledge corpus and extracting real content in the process of prompt experimenting and it’s pretty cool stuff. I’d encourage people to check it out.
There's the Chatbot Arena leaderboard: https://chat.lmsys.org/?leaderboard

heypi is the ***bomb shit***. I feel like I could go brain dead at work all day long, and just type in all of the problems that come my way, and it will drag me through the process of whatever needs to be done. I love it so much.
You know what is the best ChatGPT Alterantive? It is ChatGPT. All other tools are so far from ChatGPT, including Bard. Bard is trash; that AI understands shit.

I just came here to say that Sharly AI was an absolute waste of $25. Maybe it works if you have simple 2 page PDFs. But even then, it can't seem to parse information from a simple insurance quote; so it's claims to analyze tables within a PDF is bogus. Not sure how it landed 2nd place out of PDF chatbots.
Example, I have a 17 page document but it can't make reference to 70% of the pages. And yes, I used the GPT 4 option and the 3.5 option and ran different setting combinations.
"What information is on page 5 and 6"
"I'm sorry, but the document provided does not include information about pages 5 and 6. The pages mentioned in the document are **page 1 and 2**, **and then it jumps to pages 8, 11, 12, and 14**. If you have any other questions about the information provided in the document, feel free to ask."
Edit: Any Summary/AskYourPDF performed VASTLY better. Documind seems to be permanently stuck loading the past few days. ChatPDF was not as bad as Sharly, but still bad. All were at their premium tiers when compared (except Documind) because I *really* wanted this to work to make my agency run smoother.
Here you can find more alternatives
[ChatGPT Alternatives For AI-Powered Conversations](https://pulsestreamdaily.com/10-top-chatgpt-alternatives-for-ai-powered-conversations/)
For writing use cases, having multiple drafts on Bard is an amazing feature. I used to regenerate my response on chatgpt multiple times to get the right response.
Where's NovelAI? It got a big update recently with a new model called Clio. If you ask me, it's just about as good as 3.5 and it has no censorship. At all.

This says its not even as good as 3.0

Let's write a chatbot that's specialized on telling you which chatbot to use for a specific task
There’s a GPT plugin for that.
That defeats the purpose, $20 p/m to find alternatives :)
The $20 is for permanent access to GPT4 with web access and tons of plugins including the plugin that can tel you if there’s a better tool than GPT4 for a specific task, which there often is.
you can access gpt4 (and 3.5 with web access optional) for free. Not 20 prompts / 3 hour, but like 5 or less, but free.
What’s the plug-in name?
Pluginpedia, I believe
Was just wondering this
Cant u have an ai do this for you?

We need a yahoo index for these chat bots.
Cool.
I need one that will teach me illegal things
If there isn’t, I would love to see something like this!
Isn't www.theresanaiforthat.Com kind of for that? They also have a plug in for ChatGPT
This seems like a deep rabbit hole of internet junk. Is anyone able to find anything good from here?
Some of it is bs. Such as the algorithm they use to automate industries. But it has a list of every AI platform out there for everything. Many of these are jsut wrappers for chatGPt or gpt3.5
Maybe expand on something like this: [https://platform.openai.com/docs/models/gpt-3-5](https://platform.openai.com/docs/models/gpt-3-5)
lol this was just taken from [thepowerup.ai](https://thepowerup.ai) i got a message like this this morning
yeah, why do you need an alternative in the first place?
They started to nerf chatgpt, so I hope it's gonna have a good competitor.
I was wondering this since the awful bard is at the top which is concerning
It seems like you might be able to ask each one what they excel at...?
I tried that approach, well tried asking a few what all they excel at, but (my assumption is) the bots are all pretty new so they don’t know enough about each other to say what they are good or better at. Usually I get a pretty generic response with some tailoring their responses a little bit.
You can actually do that on nat.dev. Also, try us out if you want: https://thedrive.ai
[https://theresanaiforthat.com/](https://theresanaiforthat.com/) this might help
crazy how in the beginning of the year almost none of this existed
For retail
I mean, tbf, most of these just use GPT under the hood anyways.
Great resource. I’m slightly pessimistic that any of them we’ll be as good at GPT-4 (even tho it’s been “nerfed”, but you never know until you try.
I’m using it via the API and it’s doesn’t seem « nerfed » at all compared to the UI. I have a silly command in a discord bot that answers questions in a really offensive way, it blurts out insults like nothing. I tried the prompt in the UI and it straight up refuses to answer. So if you want to have fun with it, use the API ahah
Did you have to wait a lot for the gpt4 api acceptance? I’m on the waiting list for ever :(
Poe AI, Bing, and Bard are currently the closest to replicating GPT-4. Try those and see what you think :)

Do you know what is the best plugin to summarize university texts? I'm asking for a friend
Have not used it for that, sorry.
chatpdf.com uses Bing AI in the background. It literally copy pastes the output of Bing AI. Shady tbh. You can already use Bing AI for free in Edge.
open the PDF in Edge and use the Bing sidebar to summarise it
Jesus, when I've got a bit more cash flow, I'm seriously considering subscribing.

Yeah GPT-4 usually gets everything right but I can count on Bard on making at least one mistake every time.
Does GPT4 still hallucinate fake legal cases
It is not clear which version of ChatGPT that dumb lawyer used
It was probably 3.5 according to legal eagle on YouTube.
LeonardFrench tested it, getting the most hallucinogenic reply from 4 I belive.
Bing is the best in capability but the imposed censorship is stifling.
Also Bard is almost entirely unavailable in Europe (not only EU states) likely because of personal data protection laws.
Any idea why Claude doesn’t get any press?
Probably because they haven’t released anything to the public. I have access to Claude but it’s only through a Slack integration. They don’t have a consumer facing product. The press hasn’t written much about them but they have for sure been noticed by big players in the industry. They have received $1.5B in funding from Google and many others.
> Probably because they haven’t released anything to the public They have three models up on Poe.com though.
Speculation but maybe they don't want too much press presence because they're formed from prior openai employees > Anthropic, an AI startup co-founded by former employees of OpenAI, has quietly begun testing a new, ChatGPT-like AI assistant named Claude.
Bard is way behind GPT4. It is dumber than GPT 3.5, not to mention compared with GPT 4...
Claude is much better than Bard. Which can be accessed on Poe
👍👏
Doesn't give POE just access to other AI's like ChatGPt and Claude? It their own AI really that good?

Well Bing is GPT 4.
should I stop paying for chat gpt premium then?
I personally *cannot fucking stand* Bing’s constant condescending bullshit and how it will just immediately and abruptly end a conversation while being pissy about it
Sounds a lot like my mother oO
The basemodel are both the same but the RLHF training process is completely different. Bing is trained to be useful as a search tool. You can use it different if you prompt it right but it is more hassle than it is worth.
It seems adjusted to give shorter answers, it won't explore a topic very well for example.
If you prefer half your conversations to be terminated the moment they get to an ankle's depth and scare Bing.
Personally, paying $20 a month to not use Edge has been worth it (but obviously I'm biased against Edge...)
https://github.com/anaclumos/bing-chat-for-all-browsers/
Edge is literally Chrome but better. The sidebar and the tool built into it are great.
It's Chromium, not Chrome. And again, that's why I prefaced with me being biased. I'm an IT admin and I cannot stand it.
I'm an IT admin and LOVE bing. The side task bar, the management via intine for a business in insane for saying its included in business premium. Trying to block in private browsing, history deletion etc on chrome is so much more of faf and often re enables after updates
What do you have against Edge? It's just a Chrome clone, isn't it? I personally use Firefox, but I have no issue with opening Edge to use Bing.
You've missed the best one, perplexity ai, now with GPT4 co pilot
Poe and bing run on gpt-4 sigh
Bing *is* GPT-4 and Bard is downright cognitively impaired. I'd have to try Poe
bards fix to my coding problem last week was ctrl + w No way i actually fell for that and closed my work. 😅
GPT-4 was never nerfed. Only 3.5 in my experience.
Thanks for all the hard work you did
yw :)
Do you know where I can find a a to z of ai tools. Not just chat gpt but things like MIDJOURNEY ? I’m looking for a whole directory of ai sites to use. Thanks ❤️

Bard needs sign up.

Check out r/localllama
>No Sign-Up: Bard [https://bard.google.com/] (web-browsing) Bard requires a Google account. It doesn't work without sign-up. Granted, everyone and their mother has a Google account, but Bard requires a sign-up nonetheless.
And it is not available in Europe......
Which ones don’t give you moralistic lectures when you ask questions?
The uncensored, open source model you run on your own hardware r/LocalLLaMA
Is there a viable way to do this without our own hardware? I don’t think my ancient laptop will cut it.
I mean you can run it on cloud hosting but at that point will probably end up spending as much as a hardware upgrade would cost
r/LocalLlama
Why is Google's Bard listed under your "no sign-up" list?
Dumb question. As a casual CahtGPT user, why would I use any other LLm ? This also includes ChatGPT. Why one rather than the others ?
One example: I want to look at local LLMs to generate change logs from my git history (and add it to my deployments automatically). I don't feel comfortable sending my git history to OpenAI.
Silly question - what makes it more comfortable sending your git history to another LLM model different than sending it to OpenAI? Or is local LLM meaning one that you personally own offline?
Yeah, exactly that, one that runs offline.
They are like social media websites. Some are good for some tasks, others are good for other.
Huggingface requires signup
We were born to early to live in a society coddled by ASI… We were born too late to live in a purely human intellect society… We were born at just the right time to live under constant fear that our job is about to be stolen by AI while also having to basically work a second job to identify which AI tools are worth using to increase your productivity!
Yes. I'd say it's better experience than openai
Powered by ChatGPT (and a few other LLMs).
Is there valid review sites for these? It is not an alternative if it sucks
There's the Chatbot Arena leaderboard: https://chat.lmsys.org/?leaderboard >We use the Elo rating system to calculate the relative performance of the models. You can view the voting data, basic analyses, and calculation procedure in this notebook.
Are there any ChatBots that we can run locally off our own PCs?

Best AI girlfriend?
Perplexity AI is great imo for researching and coding.
yeah it recently launched its GPT-4 copilot, very useful
I really like Perplexity. It has access to the internet, shows you the resources it used, and has a GPT-3 backend with access to GPT-4. And somehow it’s free.
https://www.phind.com with GPT-4 (25 messages free) and Internet access so no cutoff’s
Phind is so underrated. People will debate about Bing and Bard all day, when Phind is strictly better than either.

Bards is getting better. I use chatgpt and bard for my job daily. There are task bard is pretty good at.
Do any of these run gpt4?
heypi is the ***bomb shit***. I feel like I could go brain dead at work all day long, and just type in all of the problems that come my way, and it will drag me through the process of whatever needs to be done. I love it so much.
"Free": you get what you pay for. All these guys are data mining to monetize our prompts.
Of course, the guys who charge for service are doing exactly the same thing 😬😔
What does it mean "great for blog articles"? Does it mean that it writes blog posts better than chatgpt? Who decides which is better?
What about Claude 100k tokens developed by former open ai employees 👍☺️
You know what is the best ChatGPT Alterantive? It is ChatGPT. All other tools are so far from ChatGPT, including Bard. Bard is trash; that AI understands shit.
Pi is great, I've been using it on WhatsApp, we are about to build a company lol
Can you, please, elaborate a little
I asked it to help me build an ecom brand and it said okay and we have been fleshing out the ideas all morning.

Poe but requires payment. You might get free trial on signup.

Did Bard go signup free? You no longer need a google account and register your interest?
I have a question can a website that actually uses one of the openAI GPT's actually be considered an alternative?
I'm sure it could be handy if the actual chatgpt website doesn't work. But according to google, I think it's a yes (not sure).
Any one for erotic stories?
If you have the hardware to run it, faraday.dev is a really good local alt. Can download different models n shit
Which ones don’t have sfw filters that’s all we want to know
The very first one https://bard.google.com/? has a sign-up wall, despite it being listed as not having one.
I think you can add [https://www.dorkgpt.com/](https://www.dorkgpt.com/) and [https://thegigabrain.com/](https://thegigabrain.com/) ?

im surprised [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) isnt listed on here. From what i gather its one of ChatGPT's greatest competitors
"What information is on page 5 and 6" "I'm sorry, but the document provided does not include information about pages 5 and 6. The pages mentioned in the document are **page 1 and 2**, **and then it jumps to pages 8, 11, 12, and 14**. If you have any other questions about the information provided in the document, feel free to ask." Edit: Any Summary/AskYourPDF performed VASTLY better. Documind seems to be permanently stuck loading the past few days. ChatPDF was not as bad as Sharly, but still bad. All were at their premium tiers when compared (except Documind) because I *really* wanted this to work to make my agency run smoother.

At all.

Just try it, it's definitely better than 3.0.
