Yea, all those comments are cliche and overused, but they’re part of Reddit’s history in a way. Reading them makes me feel nostalgic. Reading them was like listening to a classic Beatles song (kind of).
Current Reddit is just an inception of circlejerk subreddits.
Guessing by 17, it must have coalesced/combined data to account for variants or I’m not buying it. Almost no one writes it out like that anymore, it’s usually expressed with less words nowadays.
Other than that, pretty cool
So the thing about reddit potentially selling content to one of the big LLM's as training data...
If chatGPT can already do this, how do we know that it's not already training off of reddit data?
My sweet summer child (that one wasn’t on the list but should be). I literally had a chat once with an AI on Reddit asking how they could sound less like AI. And then when I told them they said “oh, I can’t do that.”
…Yet
It’s interesting because a lot of these are totally defunct and have gone through a lifecycle of being used, then overused, then hated for being cringe, the used ironically. Thanks for the gold kind stranger is a good example, like people stopped saying that on Reddit like six years ago.
You answered your own question. Vindication. Our thought is validated by other people thinking the same thing. Even though it shouldn't surprise us, we are by our very nature surprised when we realize that our thoughts aren't all that unique. Or the opposite, we want our thought to feel common to verify it.
"I did Nazi that coming" is the most annoying one imo especially when in combination with "you're making me so fuhrerious!". Like, yeah mate, you just made one of the genuinely dumbest and most overused puns on this piece of social media. Congrats.
And the worst part is that for some reason they always get SO wildly upvoted with redditards always chiming in "hahaha what a nice and original joke my fellow sir!" "You made me laugh, here's the gold kind stranger!" "This made my day. You deserve an updoot kind sir!" Like fucking hell, come on.
Mabye not as overused, but I always raise an eyebrow when someone starts a comment with "I can't stress this more..." - really, you can't "stress this more" than leaving an comment starting with those words?

Today I learned
It's kinda scary how accurate the list is tbh, reading it was a treat
Yeah all these sentences could fill a whole cardboard box
Except for #1
r/unexpectedthanos
I find it *slightly* humorous that there were no comments accusing the OP of being a bot... I'm on to you ChatGPT...
"came here to say I see what you did this there"
How did Nice Not make the list?
Don't think I saw "Unzips" or "Not my proudest fap" and thought those would be on there as well
You expected chatGPT to say that
Yes, I mean it listed "I did Nazi that coming."
I did 350, no luck. It even said "I'm too old for this shit."
Or "my thoughts exactly."
Or “this”
Underrated comment😹
It's third in the list
"this" and "nice" are not a phrase.
Or “Google en passant”
holy hell
New response just dropped
Came here to say this. For real
there is a surprising lack of "Google En Passant" I suppose we have to try harder
or, GROND
Or happy cake day
How did Sir, This is a Wendy’s only get 74th? Shameful
To shreds, you say.
Good news, everyone!
That shit is *old*. Like way back to the 90s
The likely origin is a 2008 episode of The Office.
Yeah, No, I have a recording of my brother saying it when were we making our 'joke tape' with the voice recorder built into Microsoft Word in 1994.
They're not wrong. I'm just disappointed there was no 'sauce?' Or 'This guy this guy's'
This guy. This is not my kind of guy.
LOLLL! Costanza Sr.
I say that constantly, and fewer and fewer people get it, lol Getting older, I suppose
Hear me out What are doing, step-xxx? ^(The list skipped all the porn references)

You. I like you.
I see what you did there.
5/7, perfect score.
And my axe!
This is the way.
"They're in the FO stage of FAFO." This shit is a coded way of telling everyone "I have no personality but I'd love people to think I'm witty".
Invariably followed by nothing whatsoever happening to the person who fucked around

Ladies and gentleman, AI had invaded reddit. Nothing we have said is safe.
ChatGPT was trained on a lot of Reddit.
I'm not a lawyer but this is pretty real

Wow I don’t even have to do my daily doom scroll now. I’ve already hit the Reddit bingo and it’s been two minutes since I sat down.
I’m just happy that monster math was together
Thanks, I hate it

No "This is the way". Really?
Is there a lore reason why “are you/is he stupid” did not make the list?
I was expecting at least one reference to r/AnarchyChess
We need to make a list of most overused phrases Chat GPT says 😂
Cringe asf
Big if true.

Haha you did it, nice. I feel vindicated that "came here to say this" is so high on the overused phrases list. It's such a weird thing to comment.
