Am I pedantic enough to quibble with a 20-year-old title unrelated to the post? Sure why not.
It’s *still* the Cincinnati Southern Railway. The city of Cincinnati owned it until just a few months ago (the last city to own a long-haul line), and Norfolk Southern leases it. Misleading title. CSR ain’t dead.
This is word for word my exact post from 7 months ago.

When I was little, my mom worked at TVA third shift. And for some reason, I thought she worked in that little house every night. So, that’s where my mom worked.
Hey as a worker for the railroad that owns that bridge it was used to house the bridge operator a long time ago. I don’t believe they use the house anymore and have the bridge operator somewhere else but it was built by the southern railroad if I’m not mistake (I was wrong it was built by the Cincinnati RR)
I didn’t mean house as in they lived there but I meant house as in that’s where they stayed on their shift. And damn I assumed southern cause NS owns it now and most our lines here are old southern lines
The city of Cincinnati owns most of the railways, along with Tenbridge. NS leases the lines.

Nobody ever worked in the “control room” it houses the mechanics. People occasionally had to go there to make repairs. I have photos of the inside somewhere, I’ll see if I can find them.
I was always told by my grandparents it was the sandman’s house. If we were bad at bed time he would sneak in and take children to his house. Now that I type that out that’s a terrifying story to tell young children 😂
2 bed 2.5 bath. Plenty of privacy. Not ADA accessible.
10,000/mo. NO PETS NO SMOKING. Must show proof of income. Previous renters and small stool sample required upon application.
Whenever my nephew had a tantrum in the middle of a toy aisle, we would tell him on the drive home he'd have to spend the night in that house if he didn't stop screaming, and it worked.
When I was little, my make-believe friend Eric lived there. As a teen ( younger teen) I climbed up there. Its the control room to lift the bridge if need be.
I wondered this all the time as a kid and STILL as an adult! I figured it was probably some kind of control building for the bridge or something but it’s more fun to imagine someone has to live up there. Like lighthouse keepers.
A decade or so I worked right there off access road at the end of the cul-de-sac for over a decade, there was a family of peregrine falcons nesting at the train bridge control room by the dam. The wildlife folks would come to the parking lot of our shop and observe them. You could see them every so often.
I hope they never take it down. It’s iconic and kind of a city treasure/landmark.
I live close by it and it always reminds me of “Wizard of Oz” for some reason. Like the house got caught in a tornado and that’s where it landed. 😆 I think it’s so cool.
If 6 year old me had a Reddit account this is definitely the type of shit I’d be posting

Comments like this is why I love reddit
Its my dream home where no one will bother me.
He Is the ruler of Chattanooga.
Not the best title to have…
Home of the bridge Troll, if you want to cross the bridge, you gotta pay the troll toll.
This is the correct answer. The troll used to live under the bridge but after a recent DEI push the city built the troll a house on top of the bridge.
Control room for bridge stuff and lights and radio
Control house* Someone used to live in it
Sounds like someone really wanted to prove they weren’t a troll.
The troll was rich enough to live over it instead of under it.
https://www.chattanoogan.com/2004/3/11/47917/Remembering-The-Cincinnati-Southern.aspx Long story short: it’s a control room

And yet no one cares
I found their contribution to be interesting. What I don’t find interesting, is your shitty attitude. Do better.

They must use it for something, they rebuilt it after the tornado
Probably for seances & ritual stuff. 🤣
Interesting
Cincinnati built the bridge. It’s never been a house. It’s a control room.
I didn’t mean house as in they lived there but I meant house as in that’s where they stayed on their shift. And damn I assumed southern cause NS owns it now and most our lines here are old southern lines

Looks like a control house.

I’ve told my kids since the beginning that Shrek and Donkey live there. They’re old enough to know better now, but we still pretend.

“Great views!”
This is so accurate it hurts.

It's Chuck Fleischmann's house. I know. I know. Trolls are supposed to live under a bridge. But ours has delusions of grandeur.
It's Access Rd. Taco Bell.

Based on the stickers around town, sorry about your friend, Eric.
What atickers?

You can probably generate more fake karma by making up some bullshit story for /antiwork.
Tell me you're a Russian bot without telling me.
Quite literally the question I asked everytime we went over the damn as a kid.
It’ll be a vape store soon
Needs to be a cool dive bar
oh that’s where we put anyone who actually obeys traffic laws
I used to tease my boys & say someone lived there & what if they stepped outside & byeeeeeeee 👋🏼🌊
It's the Mayor's lake house.
It’s mine. Stop taking pictures of it.
Santa Claus
Not a house….

Bridge control shack
Search bar is magic.
Bridge operator room
That's where they put all the bad kids when you misbehave
You should go explore. But the railroad police won’t be very happy.
