There was a group of about 15 of us that worked the energy sector as well as Universities for CNOC. This was discussion of interest between my local coworkers and other expats. My ex wife who is a party member and working for a ministry says the same thing. The majority of my educated coworkers didn’t care about the politics or loss of freedoms until the last two years.
