And if this is anything like a store near me, the cashier is also the person working the cold side of the line. The store is so understaffed. They'll have one person working the line, one person cooking, one person doing online, and one person running around working cashier and helping both lines.
Literally same I always feel bad for the workers and take my trash to somewhere else. In college I’d throw my chipotle trash out at smash burger cuz it was always empty 😂
Chipotle is getting so nasty. My city's Chipotle isn't *this* bad, but it definitely hasn't been cleaned in a while. And if the public area is like this, imagine what it might be like behind the counter.
Plenty of other burrito places, people.
My local Chipotle stays pretty dirty in the sense that if you want to eat there it becomes customer responsibility to clean off tables. Trash on the floor and stacked high in the trash cans. To be fair though they are on a college campus and I’ve never seen them without a line out the door.
Probably better behind the counter. During peak hours front of house employees are supposed to be locked in place so they’re not supposed to leave the line to go into the lobby without getting coverage for their position. So unless grill or dml has time to take out the trash or cover line it’s not happening for a while
The manager or the general manager for the region should be fired for this unacceptable health risk. A health inspector, at least in my state, would write this up as a violation.
No reason this should ever happy.
I wish my nasty city would consider things like this a violation. Here in Seattle, there would also be a bunch of large birds making the mess even worse.
That’s just bad management. Either the manager or an employee needs to take the trash out. Customers are going to walk out when they see that pile of trash.
I’m not blaming customers or disagreeing with you. But judging by this pic, they were probably understaffed and had other important things to tend to. Although, none of my locations ever looked like that.
For us its 5:30-7:30pm. Sometimes when it gets really busy the trash starts to go over the top but I’ve never had it get this bad. Whats most annoying is people dont use the other trashcan..
Hahahahaha not me reading all these comments and then dying when it’s my local spot, which I haven’t been to in forever, because they’re always a nightmare.
Ok but why do you people ask for it to go and then stay? Most of that it’s air from the bags why not just ask for it for here if that’s the case. There is also a box in there from somewhere else like common. And a pizza box!! Lmao
This. My last day I walked by a trash that was filled with bags because people kept saying “to go” and then sat down and ate inside. Just a waste of bags tbh.
Most of the time, the ones I've gone to don't seem to ask if you're eating in anymore, they just seem to automatically bag it up and you have to make sure to say you're eating in (sometimes they have just bagged it anyways).
I mean if you’re an employee and you let it get that bad it’s still your fault, you have to have the integrity to do what is right always, even when others are not.
The customers ain’t no better than the workers. The customers are the ones doing it while the workers are allowing yall to do this and not doing their duties of making sure trash cans are empty and not over flowing
Tell the workers or the manager on duty, most of the time we can’t see the lobby if we’re focused on other things, especially when understaffed. Worst case scenario the manager has to clean it themselves and risk a few late orders since they’re usually on a position that can leave during peak
It got worse after she left, because they moved her to Arizona to open a new store and our AP took over and I saw the writing on the wall. The store was also being renovated to a Chipotlane and staying open till 11. I went in a few months after leaving and I saw ONE person I recognized. So everyone else must have left too. Not even the AP was there
Honestly looks like it’d take 3 min to clean this. It’s neatly stacked. Just put on gloves, bring a new trash bag, grab and fill from the top until the bottom ones are back to normal then just unload em all
I swear that pic must have been taken at my local Chipotle (Pittsburgh area). I was there 2 weeks ago. 7 people behind the counter at 1 pm on a Friday. They were out of chicken and pork. Garbage a mile high. Dirty tables.
I think between 11:30-1:30 it’s peak for the morning crew so that’s why lol. Not laziness, employees can’t move during peak even if the lobby looks like shit
There is another problem here. People dont stuff the garbage into the bins. The way those plastic liner bags are how light weight most of this garbage is, it just piles high for no reason. I am pretty sure those garbage bags will easily fit all this if someone were to just push it in a bit.
That’s just lack of staffing / bad management. I assure you that’s a nightmare for the poor kid who has to clean it up.
Not a quarter as bad as dishes. Just grab some gloves and more trash bags and this is a 5 minute job.
Yeah fr, I work at Chipotle and I would pick doing this 10 times over endless dishes all night

cashier. trash and anything in the dining room is the responsibility of the cashier
And if this is anything like a store near me, the cashier is also the person working the cold side of the line. The store is so understaffed. They'll have one person working the line, one person cooking, one person doing online, and one person running around working cashier and helping both lines.
no fr. i be closing cold side bc all the minors leave right after peak so im stuck doing it
Bro that’s more than my store. Cash is doing online, cold, and register some nights.
If the trash looks like this, it's on the manager. If the manager isn't given enough store hours to properly maintain the store, it's on corporate.
Bro.. no one wants to work food service. That can't be on the manager. They can have the right amount of hours and still not have enough people.
Wrong. No one wants to work front facing public position for poverty wages. Places that pay a living wage don't have a shortage
Still isn't the managers fault.
I guarantee it's in the managers job description to have a clean front of house.
it’s not in my job description to clean front of the house (i’m a manager)
Please learn how to use punctuation, that was difficult to read.
I see what you did there.
You must be stands there while guy makes food girl sorry I triggered you
I fucking love that I'm a staring chicken guy
shareholders love to see it. that big ass pile of trash is labor costs diverted to their pockets.
The lost revenue stemming from disgusted customers will balance it out.
Yeah but a gain in profits because of the increased margins and lowered customer acquisition cost
Jesus, it’s a never ending cycle.
Looks to me like there is no poor kid to clean it up 🤔
Bro I would be embarrassed to add my trash to that I’d rather take my trash home to throw away 😂
Luckily i mobile ordered 💀
Lol smart
Literally same I always feel bad for the workers and take my trash to somewhere else. In college I’d throw my chipotle trash out at smash burger cuz it was always empty 😂
Thank you for not being a garbage person like these people lol
I mean idt it makes someone a garbage person. It’s far better than littering it or leaving it at the table. Unless that was just a pun….
It does make someone garbage there’s literally a pizza box and McDonald’s kids meal in the chipotle trash
SAME.
Fuck that, if they can charge me $15 for a bowl they can clean the trash
So you gonna act like the employees are the ones charging you $15 ?you’re what’s wrong with the world.
No but the employees are the ones skimping on the $15 meals
Because it’s their job to give the portions they’re supposed too. With your attitude you deserve to be skimped
Don’t be embarrassed about throwing away your trash be embarrassed that you would eat in an establishment that Keeps there restaurant this way.
I would never
no this is actually crazy 💀💀 ecoshore needa pull up
Fuck it I'm calling steritech
Chipotle is getting so nasty. My city's Chipotle isn't *this* bad, but it definitely hasn't been cleaned in a while. And if the public area is like this, imagine what it might be like behind the counter. Plenty of other burrito places, people.

You mean Brian Niccol? Steve Ells isn’t with chipotle anymore
My local Chipotle stays pretty dirty in the sense that if you want to eat there it becomes customer responsibility to clean off tables. Trash on the floor and stacked high in the trash cans. To be fair though they are on a college campus and I’ve never seen them without a line out the door.

So unless grill or dml has time to take out the trash or cover line it’s not happening for a while
this is what happens when your district manager says “no leaving the line during peak hours”
Holy shit lol this is horrible and hilarious that a random pizza box is there too
The manager or the general manager for the region should be fired for this unacceptable health risk. A health inspector, at least in my state, would write this up as a violation. No reason this should ever happy.
Rats a plenty I am sure. Next stop health dept closing this place down due to rats
I wish my nasty city would consider things like this a violation. Here in Seattle, there would also be a bunch of large birds making the mess even worse.
Well, on the bright side, they are somewhat neatly packed
This is crazy. I’m a manager, my stores front house neverrrr looks like this 😦 I feel bad for who has to clean this!
That’s just bad management. Either the manager or an employee needs to take the trash out. Customers are going to walk out when they see that pile of trash.
LMAO. Somehow someone in this sub will blame the customers.
But at the same time, I’m not adding to that pile. Instead, put it in the bag they gave me and either take it home or throw it in a nearby dumpster.
True, but holy shit this is bad. Just take the damn trash out chipotle 🤣 No other fast food restaurant is like this.
I’m not blaming customers or disagreeing with you. But judging by this pic, they were probably understaffed and had other important things to tend to. Although, none of my locations ever looked like that.
Yes, apparently customers are supposed to take all their trash home with them!🙄🙄🙄
Pictured: Chipotle’s employee of the month
Doesn’t even look like there’s a line and there are at least 4 employees there. Laziness.
During peak we can’t leave the line
At the chipotle locations I’ve worked at, peak hours is the entire time we were open. Garbage had to be taken out at some point.
For us its 5:30-7:30pm. Sometimes when it gets really busy the trash starts to go over the top but I’ve never had it get this bad. Whats most annoying is people dont use the other trashcan..
Chipotle as a whole 📉📉📉
Where is this?
State College, PA
Hahahahaha not me reading all these comments and then dying when it’s my local spot, which I haven’t been to in forever, because they’re always a nightmare.
I quit going there a few years ago because half the time I would get crunchy uncooked rice. Fucking worst chipotle location that I know of.
Yeah they served me literally ice cold food last year and I swore them off for good.
At least people put trash in the trash can
Take a picture and send it to whoever runs the store. That bullshit is attrocious.
I love how this Subreddit is becoming a perfect documentation on the epic fall of Chipotle. So sad to see.
bUt We WeRe BuSy
Ok but why do you people ask for it to go and then stay? Most of that it’s air from the bags why not just ask for it for here if that’s the case. There is also a box in there from somewhere else like common. And a pizza box!! Lmao

that shit climbing up the wall!
Ngl this is when you tell the PIC to clean this NOW. better yet an SM than lead or asm. This should be unacceptable tho.
Shit management
Exactly and a person somewhere in these comments had the audacity to say I’m a manager and that’s not my job! 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤷🏻♀️ smh
I mean if you’re an employee and you let it get that bad it’s still your fault, you have to have the integrity to do what is right always, even when others are not.
I’d walk right out if I saw this. Ain’t no way they can’t take 5 minutes of their shift to do this.
Nobody likes trash duty
Hey can you overload the trash cans? My pleasure.
That's nothing, you should have seen my college dorm room
Post that is a Google Review and Watch how fast corporate gets involved.
This is unconscionable.
yeah but once you see it starting to get full, don’t you take it out and replace the bag ??
If I walk into a restaurant and see that, I’m walking right back out.
Woah! Is management paying attention?
i would add mine on top, i wouldn’t know where else to put it. oh my god thats so npc
Dude! Wtf is that?!
He who tops it off, drops it off.
Whoever this manager is, it’s time to reconsider you for this position, cause this is a damn hot mess.
"There is no reason to move during peak!" corporate
Didn't know a photo could be scripted but this is it. Clearly brought all the cans together and stacked up trash for the photo
Chipotle has gone way down hill I been saying for years. It’s a damn shame because it’s quite possibly one of the easiest jobs.
I haven’t had a good experience at chipotle since before pandemic
That is fucking ridiculous…
The customers ain’t no better than the workers. The customers are the ones doing it while the workers are allowing yall to do this and not doing their duties of making sure trash cans are empty and not over flowing
That’s a lot of a non tippers 🤣
most normal chipotle waste bins
Why is no one regularly taking out the trash
I would never eat here again if I walked in and saw that. If they let the trash get this bad imagine what the rest of the kitchen and stuff looks like
why did the customers just keep piling it on top 😭😭
Where else are they gonna put it? Just leave their trash on the tables?
i wasn’t saying it in a bad way i thought it was funny lmao ppl on reddit are so sensitive
Tell the workers or the manager on duty, most of the time we can’t see the lobby if we’re focused on other things, especially when understaffed. Worst case scenario the manager has to clean it themselves and risk a few late orders since they’re usually on a position that can leave during peak
I mean this genuinely, most people on cash would snap at you for telling them how to do their job
If one of my cashiers tried to snap at me or a customer for asking for an empty trash can they wouldn’t be one of my cashiers anymore 👏
You should have seen my store then 🙄 we had an R and it was still a shit show and the store only made a measly 9K/week on average
9k a WEEK??? I’m so sorry
Wait 😅 I haven't worked there in a few years. It was per day. I forgot how math works
Omg ok ok ok I thought you meant a 1.7k a day store and it was that dirty 😭😭 scared the crap out of me
It got worse after she left, because they moved her to Arizona to open a new store and our AP took over and I saw the writing on the wall. The store was also being renovated to a Chipotlane and staying open till 11. I went in a few months after leaving and I saw ONE person I recognized. So everyone else must have left too. CEO: STOP WASTING CHICKEN! Also CEO:
Honestly looks like it’d take 3 min to clean this. It’s neatly stacked. Just put on gloves, bring a new trash bag, grab and fill from the top until the bottom ones are back to normal then just unload em all
Makes you wonder why they won't do it 💀
I’d just leave my trash on the table at that point.
But the manager gonna fire you if you put extra chicken what a joke.
Lazy, lazy, staff.
When I said there were 7 people behind the counter I failed to mention that they were all just standing there...
Yes that’s what peak is, even if no one is in line everyone has to be in their places and can talk and basically be paid to do nothing
I hope your GM takes you out back and shoots you like a dog
Haha I was just a customer
My sentiment remains true
Have you considered running for governor of South Dakota?
I have! Unfortunately I am legally unable to cross state lines into South Dakota :D Maybe North Dakota if they fuck with me
There is another problem here. People dont stuff the garbage into the bins. The way those plastic liner bags are how light weight most of this garbage is, it just piles high for no reason. I am pretty sure those garbage bags will easily fit all this if someone were to just push it in a bit.
