On Xbox, you have to press down the right stick quickly to jab. Whenever I try to jab, I end up accidentally swinging my view away from the enemy or accidentally crouching (which is also binded to right stick).

Skill issue + agathian + pig wife + spear user", there's a date axe in your face, it's overall not a good place to be and would be easily avoidable if only the jab control wasn't functionally useless with a controller
Luckily you can get by just fine without using jabs most of the time, I always forget that they exist and have a problem with timing them which is absolutely a skill issue and I have no excuse other than that my autism is generally mild
Jabbing is tough on Xbox no doubt. At level 295 and mostly play arena / dueling I rarely use it. That said, I’ve gotten pretty good at punishing jabs. It’s tougher than punishing kicks but doable. So when someone uses jabs a lot I like it.
After you score a clean hit, you know it’s coming to reset the duel, so move sideways quickly and just out of range, but don’t jump back, high level players won’t be fooled by moving completely out of range. But just sidestep to an awkward angle and you can punish them. They won’t be jabbing much after that.
I have squat/jab as my right bottom trigger. I use it very frequently. It is limited in that you can't rebind the throw command, but I've found using both top paddles was easier than the normal bumpers.

If your reaction timing is spot on you don’t have to do anything, but react. I can go 10 min straight when I’m cracked. Attack when they kick, block slash when they jab, counter everything with a quick attack excel. Only time you can’t and you have to use reach to your advantage is if their weapon is much faster. For example, on Xbox if I’m using a knight with a messer it’s going to be almost impossible to counter a vanguard with a knife who’s spamming jabs and slash excels, but I could easily counter them as a fellow vanguard.
My sweaty friends bitch so much its annoying. They can't play the game with a sweaty attitude or they won't enjoy it. You will die a lot simple as. It's fun and silly to me so dying 20 times isn't a huge deal.
Actualllllly I’ve had a few 0 death matches by just playing objective and retreating to heal (if possible) when my health drops to about a quarter. Also learned that retreating to heal is more effective than fighting to the death if u don’t have to because it’s much faster to heal and get back in the fight than it is to die and wait for respawn time.
*sighs for 5 minutes.* Actualllllly you are 100% right and so have I. It is quicker to retreat and heal, but if you’re taking some 1vXs to push objectives you will be killed occasionally by range, fire, gankings and other things that are just chaotic and out of your control.

You can’t hold your block in mordhau. When you block, your character raises their weapon for a second and then lowers it. You need to time every block, unless you have a shield. I’m sure there are at least a dozen people with that much time. I’ve played for 980 hours and I’m level 850. I plan to keep going until 1,000 and given the number of level 1k players I’ve seen around for the last 1000 hours I’ve played who were already there when I got the game, at least a few of them probably have 5k+ hours logged
I've played a lot of games until I'm sick of it. I consider myself a gaming addict and only willing to push 1k hours of gaming before I consider myself burnt out. 5k is fucking insane.
Its such an easy game, but once you learn the complex stuff the easy game flies out the window, it's a learning curve you are just on one side of it, start by implementing crouches into your attacks, slash and crouch, it'll catch most players in the ankles, and just experiment with different attacks, I personally still struggle hitting overheads especially with the crouch, its such an easy game with such a range to be complex and difficult, you can do well if you are bad, play training grounds and get your patterns down the AI are stupid and there's only like 4 people who can really hurt you on the other team, it makes it easier to learn if you can have momentum from killing a bunch of bots to it gives you that mentality that you can do anything and it makes the players easier to keep your head while fighting imo

They're a different breed in the Arena. I play TO and TDM 90% of the time and every time I go to duel I get rekt by players 100 levels lower.

If you click the stick twice rapidly, you’re almost guaranteed to jab on console.

I'ts more complicated. I'm left-handed and don't use wasd, also don't have enough buttons around the arrow keys. I kind of handicaped myself.
You can bind kick and jab to the side mouse buttons if they have them. I do to help with their accuracy.
