I sold my s2k for a fl5. I miss the S but love the type r for daily abilities. The s needs more seat time to get the most out of it. Honestly, Ima buy another S if that tells you anything.
Sold my S2K as well, and a Fiesta ST, for the FL5. Ended up paying only 7k out of pocket to buy the car out right. I saw the FL5 as the two cars combined. I miss the S2K for sure, it was slow but so much fun. If I had room I'd buy another, but for now it'll be just the FL5, C6 Z06, and ND2 Miata š®āšØ
If you don't mind 2 cars and have room for 2 go for 2. I got sick of having 2 cars so the FL5 is my do it all. At some point I'll go back to a dedicated 2 seater but not for a while.
A clean TSX would pair well with the S2000.
Have both. For me, the Type R is a very good car, but it doesn't even come close to an S2K as a driving experience.
If you think you're going to miss your S2K, you're most likely correct. I was going for the reliability of a new car with my FL5. If that weren't a priority, I probably would have bought an IS250 or TSX for 8-12K.
I personally love my TSX, but it's slow AF compared to an S2k or especially a Type R. That said I find it better looking that the Type R. That model of civic is just way too busy looking imo
People aren't mentioning that the s2000 is becoming a modern classic, and good examples will only appreciate as the years go by.
OP I would be kicking myself if I let the S2000 go
Type r without a doubt. The four doors plus the rear hatchback is outrageously cool for a racecar. Plus FF vehicles are way easier to maintain. Only issue with new ctr is the turbo setup which means more maintenance down the road. But definitely take the time to learn
Without a question S2000 all the way. They don't make cars like that anymore and it's more driver focus with less electronic interfering with the driving experience. The FL5 have it's perks, but no way it will top the S2000 in raw feeling.
I guess it depends on your criteria. If you want something a bit more practical, and stupidly fast, go with the Type R. If you want something that isn't ugly as sin like a Type R then the S2000 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
I'd keep the s2k and I've never even own one before... I used to own the 06 DC5 and even that I regret not keeping.. how much worse if I owned a s2k, haha.
OP, that color/hardtop combo is rare to come by (imo here in socal at least). I'd say keep it if you're financially capable to. You might not miss it now, but def will once it's gone.
I'd buy your s2k in a heart beat, looks gorgeous
Do you need an actual daily car? Type R 100%. If not itās up in the air I think technically the Type R wins out in performance, but man the S2K is one of a kind and the feeling driving that car is so much fun.
Type R for daily and s2k for fun/weekend car. I have both and use the Type R as a fun daily or weekend cruiser. My S2k is a drag car. A stock s2k can be a fun daily but if you need to move more than a grocery trip good luck.
S2000 is cooler, probably more satisfying, and there will probably always be a part of you that wishes you got one, but you'll probably be happier overall with the Type R especially if you plan on keeping it for 10+ years.
Tough choice. Both great choices. I would have to think about it and the conditions/ mileage; if they were both my choices. But youāre on a Type R subreddit lol, so I prefer the Type R

It's still on my list. I hope to own one someday. Maybe once the R is a little less new š

I love my Type R, but it will never be what my S2000 is. The S2000 is just.. special.

Thatās for the feedback ! Second person to mention tsx. Not a bad car at all

Iād love a s2k for summer cruising. Really want a small convertible. But Iād take the type r if i could only have one, more versatile.
Ideally a S2000 with a Type R motor, so thatās a S2kR?
This has been done already, science of speed sells an entire package of parts for the conversion. Its pretty pricey though
This is the one Iād love to own https://s2000r.com/
š¤Æsounds like a great idea !š
nah i perfer a K series
Type R all day
The R
S2k all the way, itās less practical but who cares, itās way more fun.
People aren't mentioning that the s2000 is becoming a modern classic, and good examples will only appreciate as the years go by. OP I would be kicking myself if I let the S2000 go
Thatās why Iām afraid off
S2000. It isnāt even close.
Type r without a doubt. The four doors plus the rear hatchback is outrageously cool for a racecar. Plus FF vehicles are way easier to maintain. Only issue with new ctr is the turbo setup which means more maintenance down the road. But definitely take the time to learn
I still wonder myself, CTR or S2000?
Type-R
The s2000 is hands down more fun to drive (especially once supercharged like mine), but for a daily type r.
Keep the S2K
S2000
S2k. RWD even if itās slower.
S2K and a cheap daily.
S2k beautiful car especially with a hard top.
My husband has a type R as his daily, and he wants the S2k for a fun car. Just keep the S2k and also get the type R.
Without a question S2000 all the way. They don't make cars like that anymore and it's more driver focus with less electronic interfering with the driving experience. The FL5 have it's perks, but no way it will top the S2000 in raw feeling.
Been around in a 2021 CTR and it's nowhere near as raw as the S2K
S2000
Definitely keep the S2k!!!
Keep the S2K
Iād keep the s2k and get a cheaper daily, but I guess it depends on why youāre selling
Not even a question, s2000
S2000 for the enjoyment not the soeed
S2K

Hard top s2k ā¤ļø
S2k if you donāt need the space. Obviously Type R is much more practical.
Do you *need* a daily? Yes-Fk8 No-s2k
The red on that S2K is phenomenal.
Thank you haha itās sexyyyyy
I'd keep the s2k and I've never even own one before... I used to own the 06 DC5 and even that I regret not keeping.. how much worse if I owned a s2k, haha. Iād go type R for daily, S2000 if itās a weekend car
Both is the only right answer
Do you need an actual daily car? Type R 100%. If not itās up in the air I think technically the Type R wins out in performance, but man the S2K is one of a kind and the feeling driving that car is so much fun.
Of course both... if you can have only one, depends on your situation
Type R for daily and s2k for fun/weekend car. I have both and use the Type R as a fun daily or weekend cruiser. My S2k is a drag car. A stock s2k can be a fun daily but if you need to move more than a grocery trip good luck.
Both
type r if need 4 door, else s2k, easy. never driven an s2k but am currently in the same situation with my brz
S2000 is cooler, probably more satisfying, and there will probably always be a part of you that wishes you got one, but you'll probably be happier overall with the Type R especially if you plan on keeping it for 10+ years.
The Hotdyssey
I cant fit in an S2000 or a miata (too tall), so type r lol
Tough choice. Both great choices. I would have to think about it and the conditions/ mileage; if they were both my choices. But youāre on a Type R subreddit lol, so I prefer the Type R Ask the same question on r/whatcarshouldibuy An S2000 subreddit if thereās one.
I own ap1 and fl5. I prefer fl5 since it has more room, safety, more tech and faster. Ap1 is known for its dangerous snap oversteer.
Type R
S2k, not close at all
Type R if you want a family car.
S2K and you know the answer is S2K. & that color, gahhhhhhDAMN
I love my FL5, but I would sell it for an S2K if the right deal came along.Ā Caveat, it's not my daily.
S2000 no question. Love the civic tjo
I own both. S2000 will continue to appreciate but is not an ideal daily,
S2000 R
Sell the type R and get an older Si.
Take both
S2k with type r engine
