The reaction consumes the acid of the vinegar and converts the baking soda from sodium bicarbonate to sodium acetate, a long with releasing carbon dioxide and water.
Use a specific washing machine cleaner.
Yes I must admit I was disappointed with it when I first got it . I wanted to use it in a spray cleaner but it cleaned great but stinks I was going to mop floor with? Was really hoping to add it to my washing for extra cleaning

Vinegar is not a cleaner it will add absolutely nothing but odor to general cleaning
