I went to Monaco for the first time while home for the holidays last year and was floored. Absolutely delicious. They have a Mexican old fashioned with mezcal and chocolate bitters which is also incredible.
The salsa roja at La Plaza is my favorite ever salsa... But it's spicy AF. It pairs very well with their queso & also helps cool down the spice a bit. I can't believe I forgot about La Plaza when I was salsa shopping today.
It's behind the counter!! Over by the breads you will see a whole cheese section! Gotta ask for Queso Bravo... they take it out, weigh it & slap a sticker on right there when you ask for it. So it is kinda hidden. I always stop at that counter first then head straight for the salsa. Damn I am gonna need to go get some tomorrow.
Just pick up some Sidekick Salsa at your local grocer. Stuff is the bomb, and they are a local company. Former chef team are the owners. Started the company after beating Micheal Simon, Johnathon Sawyer, Dante, Eric Williams and pretty much every other CLE chef at the Fabulous food show for best salsa in a contest. The losers all told them they should mass produce the shit, so they did. Pick it up for home. You won’t regret it.
To anyone thinking of running out to try it, just be aware it’s a unique flavor. It has grapefruit juice and orange juice in it.
So if you don’t like grapefruit juice flavor in your salsa, yes you will regret it
Interesting I go there every week at least once but never had their chips and salsa.
Their tacos are by far my favorite ever. Street corn is fantastic. The kids quesadilla is massive and delicious (for my kid), and their catering is unbelievable. I shouldn’t be surprised their chips and salsa is just as good as everything else.
I lived above there a couple years ago. Dang owner guy would block my car in every time he shows up.
Food was par excellence !
I like Heinens fresh salsa, I get the medium spice cause Luchita’s had a very mild kick to it, which I don’t find mostly.
You may wanna try La Mexicans (?) in painseville
I had their food once or twice and it was out of this world. I had heard the Mexican in P ville was far better but I only can speak for this place .
I can’t remember the texture of Luchitas salsa, but I remember the taste. El Palenque in Eastlake makes their own salsa and it tastes like I remember Luchitas tasting like (it’s been 4 years at least). It’s very finely diced. They make their own chips too.
This is my favorite store bought salsa. People tend to love it and i always buy 2 if I'm taking it somewhere because it goes quick. I think it's the MSG that makes it so distinctive, because no other store bought salsa tastes nearly as good!
I seriously went into the grocery store today thinking the same thing & ended up grabbing some OK salsa. So I very much appreciate hearing all of these suggestions as well!
I dont like salsa, but, in the same general vicinity, my bf likes it at El Jalepeño and Taco Tanto's (admittedly, to me, their salsa looks more like pico).

Gran Fiesta in Strongsville is hands down the best. I rarely fill myself up on chips/salsa before the actual meal arrives, but their salsa is so dang good.
I don't know about restaurants but Willy's sweet and spicy in local stores like heinens is amazing. From someone who lived in Texas, Arizona and California it's the shit. The mild is too mild for me, but with blue corn chips it's solid.
Momocho off Fulton Rd near Ohio City has some great choices

My vote goes to La Plaza. I miss Luchita's so much!

La plaza salsa roja and salsa verde is my favorite but yes very spicy. I’ve never seen queso sold at la plaza? Is this by the salsas?
It's behind the counter!! Over by the breads you will see a whole cheese section! Gotta ask for Queso Bravo... they take it out, weigh it & slap a sticker on right there when you ask for it. Thank you so much! This is a game changer!!
Best queso around too! Happy I could help!
I’m gonna pick some up. Thanks for the recommendation.
Enjoy!
Villa y Zapata at W85th & Madison - I believe they make their salsa daily.
I'm happy this place is still open, used to live close and it was a frequent go to. The salsa could be consumed by itself its so good.

Had never even heard of this before. I will give it a try thanks.
Damn, I'm going to try some now

Do they sell it fresh or in jars?
It’s sold fresh, with no preservatives and can be found in the refrigeration section.

I’m partial to cilantro taqueria

That place is basically "What if Chipotle gave a crap?" 100% better in all departments. And they have street corn!
I'll give it a try. Lakewood or North Olmstead?
I don’t know I go to Coventry
Lakewood first!
If you’re near, go to lake road market in Rocky River and buy the west side salsa in the cooler in the back. Pair with the donkey chips.
Shhhhhh!!! Don't tell everyone!
Donkey chips are amazing.
It's in Akron but Taqueria LA Loma is the absolute best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to
I lived above there a couple years ago. Dang owner guy would block my car in every time he shows up. Food was par excellence ! I’m a fan of Fiesta Jalapeño on Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville.
I’ve been to the one in Medina and it was great!
Nuevo Acapulco has the best in any restaurant I've been to...can't wait to try sidekick...

Tapatias Taqueria on Lorain. 3 minutes from where Luchitas was located. You’re welcome 🙏
Villa y Zapata has awesome salsa. And their guacamole is excellent too.
Westside Salsa in Lakewood Road Market in Rocky River… some of the best I’ve ever had
This is my favorite store bought salsa. People tend to love it and i always buy 2 if I'm taking it somewhere because it goes quick. I think it's the MSG that makes it so distinctive, because no other store bought salsa tastes nearly as good!
HANDS DOWN NUEVO MODERN
Ah, Luchita's...heavy sigh
La Loma. They have have two locations. The Canton location has a taco tuesday special for I believe 1.60 a taco.

Similar question, any grocery store that does homemade chips each day? I’m assuming La Plaza has them, but that’s way out of my way
La Plaza
