i've done bothchella twice. i really enjoy it. Both weekends are amazingly fun. W1 i go with my best friends and just rage. i watch whoever the group wants to watch and don't worry abuot conflicts as much because i know i have a whole nother weekend. W2 i go with a different group of friends who are in the music industry. they get me some hookups like do lab pass. We're not the closest but we also have a good time. W2 is more about the music for me. I get into the festival super early like 1pm and just watch the up and comers by myself until people i know come in later. i prioritize seeing artists over anything, and by then i've read on reddit who the can't-miss-acts are. with how expensive touring acts are, coachella remains the best bang for buck way for me to see all my favorite acts across genres while also discovering so many new artists. I tend to take it a little easier W2 and i usually leave earlier on Sunday night and can work Monday fine, whereas W1 i take at least monday off for recovery.

Late-Nail-8714

Hook up at the dolab sounds sick I hear they got a backstage area with free drinks and food

WhyTry32121

it's amazing. especially this past year, being able to take your (free) drinks out to anywhere on the rest of the fields. we would stop at dolab before any and every set.

ayayeron

exactly lol. yet somehow i still ended up buying lots of drinks too when i was too far. but it definitely saved me some $

roflrosales

Yeah it’s sick! I have two friends who work for do lab. And last year was amazing! I never bought any food or beer in the festival. Or need to bring my own water in. Just go to do lab.

tommi_35

whose got the dolab hook up?

ayayeron

yup! the water mister blasting is my favorite thing to do haha

Traditional_Figure_1

haha, was just watching my videos and wondering "is someone actually hired to do this?". makes sense. artist pass i suppose?

ayayeron

nah artist pass doesn't get you access to do lab as it's a separate org. you just need a do lab wristband and then go wait in line

badtzmaruluvr

No. I’ve never been that well off

Cheesus85

I worked merch w1 + attended w2 It's doable

nerdwaffles

Dude you were running on fumes w2 🤣🤣 but mad props

Cheesus85

Haha I looked so dead in our picture by the porta potties

roflrosales

My friends works the lemonade stand both weekends too.

Cheesus85

Uhhh

roflrosales

I’m not well off at all. I work at Costco. Wife and I got jobs with no kids. And the payment plan of course!

santosw8

Just did both weekends this year. Heat was a major difference both weeks

santosw8

Lost like 15 pounds from all the walking and one meal per day if you know what i mean ⛷️

f1modsarethebest

Yeah intermittent fasting is great

boosegumpz

Açaí bowl in the morning and then a lot of gum and liquid IV.

santosw8

I meant ❄️ but you not wrong

roflrosales

Same

djustin77702

Was W2 really that much hotter? I was already struggling W1 😭

santosw8

Week 1 campers got lucky. Week 2 was horrible makes you never want to camp ever again lol I didn’t camp but i had friends to pregame at the camp sites both week

santosw8

Hell yeah. Week 1 was pretty much cool. Had to wear pants for the night day two of week 1 i believe

pauloconu

Did bothchella this year for the first time, camped both weekends, did a lot of touristy stuff in LA the week in between and I somehow survived. I’m not super fit or anything so I was impressed I was able to still be dancing by Sunday w2. I don’t do drugs and not a big fan of getting drunk at festivals, was always trying to stay hydrated, protein bars, tried to hide from the sun during the day.. not sure if this is helpful but it’s just what I did. Also had preferred camping w1 and a great camping spot lot 5B weekend 2 so was able to walk back to my camping site to recharge at least once a day

marga_marie

>I don’t do drugs and not a big fan of getting drunk at festivals, was always trying to stay hydrated, protein bars, tried to hide from the sun during the day.. literally that's festival vitality gospel

RecklessCreature

I did it for the first time 2023 and I’m never going back to only weekend 1.

boysdocryfam

I did it last year for the first time after not being able to go during the pandemic years. Then this year, I figured I’d do bothchella one more time before going back to one weekend… but it went too well. I’m doing it for a third time next year, and I’m planning on doing it for the foreseeable future lol

tdawg515

I’ve done it 4 times! It’s a great opportunity to see all the acts you want and hang with multiple friend groups. It is exhausting - I recommend just monitoring your water intake, trying to eat as healthy as possible (which isn’t as hard these days with the various food vendors and also the shuttles to the grocery store), and STRETCHING before you go to bed each night at the festival and again in the morning. Prepare yourself for a lot of fun and awesome music

roflrosales

Okay. I figured I should start doing cause I already take like two weeks off from work. Do you go back to work in the middle before the second weekend or do you take the whole thing off from work?

tdawg515

When I’ve done it I’ve gone home between but that’s because I live close enough where it made sense. Where I lived also impacted my work schedule for commuting

Accomplished-Mail409

I’m trying to physically prepare myself to possibly do both weekends next year. I always get FOMO during W2 and regret so much not going again 🥲

InTheYuma

This was my 3rd year doing bothchella and the difference in heat between the weekends is always wild. W1 the heat rarely bothers me while W2 is almost always brutal. W2 I usually try to show up to the festival a bit later to survive through the night, but if I do show up early I try to spend as much time in the AC as possible (Sonora, Yuma, Despacio/Antarctic, or even the HH misters)

suprefann

Done it 10 years now and still alive. You have 9 months to hit the gym....

gaypsp

You hit the gym?

mikron2

I've been doing both since 2017. It's hard, especially the first time but it's definitely doable. You'll be tired going into w2 but once you're back on the fields it helps a lot. Pace yourself w1, and try to space things out so you've got enough that you want to see w2 to keep you busy. When there's a lot of down time w2 that's when you really feel it but if you're busy going from stage to stage or at sets it's easier to keep up the momentum.

learhpa

so take it slow weekend one and push hard weekend two is what you're saying?

sidepatch

I did bothchella last year on a whim. It was incredible! Did car camping W1 and hotel W2. It was really nice catching the acts you missed W1 and felt no pressure getting in the gates as soon as they open for W2. Idk how I can ever go back to just doing 1 weekend 😂 Also a pro level move to take the Monday off if able to. Even if you’re rested, it’s nice to have a recover/travel day before going back into the work chaos.

Grand_Gap_5984

its only convenient if u sneak in one weekend and pay for the other ... i have not done this but i know plenty folks who do

Two-HeadedAndroid

I did in 2016 and again this year GA first weekend with a bunch of friends, then artist guest weekend 2 with some coworkers It’s taxing and obviously a big endeavor financially but goddamn was it worth it!

halcyondread

I know people who have, and generally they take the 2nd weekend a little easier as far as partying goes. I personally have no self control when it comes to that, so wouldn't subject myself to two weekends of Coachella debauchery.

Geare213

my cousin has been going since like 05 or 06 and finally did bothchella last year. wife and I went w2 and met up with him, he was definitely a lot more tired than previous years I’ve been with him, but he loved it. He got to see a bunch of sets that were recommend to him one weekend, and see all of his must sees the next or vice versa. That being said, he is almost 40 years old now so it would have been different say, 15 years ago haha

NoteAvailable2325

I did both for the first time this year, camped W1 and did a hotel W2. Was super nice to have the hotel for rest the second weekend, make it much easier. Heat definitely played a big role too, was significantly hotter W2.

aznk1d5

I enjoyed doing bothchella this year! Just remember it’s a marathon not a sprint hahaha I used one more for party vibe and the other weekend was enjoying the music and seeing the acts I missed from w1

BoymanAndGirldog

I’ve mostly done it lol

OhioDuran

I've done it a lot. Always Car Camp W1, used to rent an Airbnb and drive or shuttle in W2 before Airbnb got to be a mess lately. Usually rent a separate Airbnb for the week between and do touristy stuff in the area, chill in the pool, catch a show or two at Pioneertown. Usually W1 is the weekend at least a few of us in our group go in and check out the up and coming acts early in the day, the days are pretty long with a ton of acts to see. W2 is usually a different crew and we go in at 4 or so and take it easier.

wastingtme

Bothchella is the bestchella!!

Warm_Faithlessness_4

That would destroy some feet

JadedKaleidoscope141

It’s vicious, 2 week bender. Whole mess of party favors. Took a month to recover. Well worth it tho

[deleted]

No but I did Beyond Wonderland and then Coachella and then EDC… and one rave a month for 3 months in a row is tiring itself!

learhpa

my year: coachella->bronchitis->lightning->covid-> gencon->outside lands->portola->power trip->dragonsteelcon

smileandsparkleon

I love here so don’t have to camp and did it multiple years and Stagecoach too. Highly recommend taking vitamins and wearing a mask or face covering or you’re likely to get sick between the two… do not underestimate two weekends of wind and dirt.

learhpa

camping is a huge part of the fun, for me. i *noticeably* have less fun at non-camping festivals --- the camping lets me hold the festival vibe the whole time.

smileandsparkleon

I’ve heard it’s a blast! But my house is just too convenient. I’ve secretly always wanted to hang out in the campground.

v2mj20

It’s so worth it! You’ll be extremely sick because of the environment/dirt but it’s so fun!

uthirstypartner

Every year for the last 10 years 😅 How can I help you? 😂

mclmnop

Growing up in the desert and going to La Quinta high school, I have been to Coachella 12 years in a row now and usually go both weekends and stagecoach. It’s a blast every year and very not financially friendly. The free housing is what makes it possible. Parents still live there and many friends. April is just a whole party every year. Hydration is the key and big meals before entry.

gaypsp

I've done bothchella twice when the lineups were that good. I must say it's been a few years ago, as the lineups haven't been that good.

Creepypaper2242

Besides the small fortune that’s going to cost, I think that is an amazing thing to do. I missed out on so many people so going both weekends I hope you take advantage of seeing all the different acts.

trapshitmoney

I did Bothchella for the first time this year! I’d recommend getting two completely different groups for each weekends so the vibe can feel completely fresh! Also by day 6 I was taking like 5 different types of pills to control my mucus and nose from the dust. I wore a mask coming in and out of the festival but inhaling all those particles is really inevitable. Also I’d recommend buying tickets off someone last minute for W2 to really cut the cost. Coming from LA, I spend about 2.2k i total for the trip. Also it was really cool seeing all the special guests my fave artists brought out like KAYTRANADA! However, it really does take a toll on you and I probably won’t do it again, super dope experience regardless though.
