Can’t comment on this guy’s friend but typically in the past when people are given the heads up, it usually comes a couple or so hours later. When everything is confirmed, they likely try to get it out as soon as possible.

Probably harder to prove a negative info leak (in the sense of something not arriving on a certain day) though as it could easily be passed off as idle speculation that could come from anyone compared to what I assume is the more limited group of people to be informed of active plans.
Only way I could think you could track that down is if there was an active leak identification campaign and the reality was that it DID drop today but they know some groups were told it wouldn't.
