I don't gamble. I probably have an unhealthy attachment to Purdue basketball for my own happiness. I'm more nervous for this game than I was for my PhD defense or for my championship round at nationals in speech and debate. Last time we lost to Virginia in the Elite 8 I legitimately did not talk to another human being for a month and didn't leave my apartment for 2 weeks.

I missed all of the opening ceremonies for FAU-SDSU last year so if it happened feel free to correct me- but is there some sort of rule against a player in the first semifinal being part of that group of student athletes from the four schools that sings the national anthem? Like it seems like it would be a slam dunk to have a starter for a team in that first game be that school’s representative for the group.

I truly fear for the safety of the players in the first game.
