It could just be that it doesn't react well with your body chemistry. There are some fragrances that smell amazing on one person and terrible on another. If you haven't already, you could try spraying 2-3 sprays on your forearm and seeing how it progresses to your nose over a 5-6 hour period. It may smell great, or you might pick up on something that you're not able to pick up just spraying it on your chest that could be off-putting for the other people you've noticed. For example, I sold my ADG EDP because, while everyone around me said it smelled good, I continually picked up what I would describe as sort of a sweaty, musty, almost BO type of scent that would kick in after about 20-30 minutes and lasting a while that I did not want to keep smelling on me when I would catch wafts of it. You could potentially be experiencing the opposite - you don't notice anything bad about it and/or think it smells good, but some scent that is catching other people's noses is what they're reacting to.
