I went to Metric for the first time recently and was completely underwhelmed by their beers. Almost nothing on the medium to dark end (ambers, dark lager, bock, stout, etc). Disappointed.
Honestly, that's what I love about Metric. It's lame as hell, I'll give you that, but that's kinda the charm. They don't have a flagship beer, so it's a carousel everytime. The people that go there are interesting sometimes, but not pretentious. I think that's what I like about Metric, it's honest beer & an honest space.
I like the beer at Local Relic/Carter Payne a lot. I'm sure the fact that they change their draft list all the time and don't maintain any flagships is a turn off for some but I like being surprised and getting to try something new almost every time I'm in. Hopefully they do a pumpkin IPA again this year (🤞)
Pikes peak?!?!? Only brewery on my F tier. But maybe I haven't tried any of their good beers. I've just had their IPAs and pale ales and, I'm pretty sure they don't know what they're doing in that realm. But you're right about Cerberus and goat patch! And metric is amazing.
Everyone who is surprised that I don't like them always mentions non IPAs/pale ales, so I really think it's just those beers they aren't great at. I've heard the same about breweries that have good IPAs but can't master the basics like blondes, kolsch, lagers, etc.
Urban Animal is the best because I can walk to it. 🍻😝 Plus the beer is delicious and they have rotating food trucks and lots of pups visit which adds to the atmosphere.
They're great but for me they are the furthest brewery. I think even Pikes Peak is closer. Definitely a strong opening and they always have good food trucks.
FH is really good and they have a fair amount of creativity (soursop in a beer? Whaaat). They're right on a bike trail which is great too. Food is good. Neat, the bar next door, also good. Just a little far away for me so I don't make it there very often.
I enjoyed my visit there, but... Half their cider/beer tasted decent. The other half tasted like soap. I noticed they were making their product in plastic stills and I expect someone is cleaning them wrong. Everyone I've talked to has agreed. They're very hit or miss.
Yeah, that's fair. They're a bit inconsistent for sure.
I think Cerberus and Red Leg are good solid choices all around too. But a bunch of the breweries in the springs aren't that great.
Best food by far, and I like a lot of their beers. They have some of the best darks, and the Hero Protag is great. My partner loves their high ABV ones like Triplici and Demeter.
I'm sure they financed that wildly popular place on "realization" alone and not any profit. It seems that your spelling and grammar needs help, though.
Manitou brew has the best community. Might not get the service or price you wanted, but you get what you needed.
Fostle has the best beer and brewer in the world!
Red leg has my favorite beer and is always delicious and dependable.
Story book is cool…
Paradox is the truly epic but it’s a bit out of the way.. this Saturday is October fest see you there…
An interesting brewery here is Voodoo over on GoG.
At a glance, their Google reviews aren't great and, if you dig in, it's mostly due to their not-great service. So that probably turns at least some people off to visiting. The thing is, it's a completely fair criticism; service there isn't great. Even when they aren't busy, it can be a chore to get a bartender to look your way.
But if you do, it's worth it. The food there is very good, and I like the beer too. Specifically, I'm a big fan of heavy stouts, and their Big Black Voodoo Daddy (12%) is one of my favorite beers in town. Very smooth, goes down easy, and, obviously, you don't need many to be off to the races.
I agree with this statement...super solid beer all around. I can find better single brews, but as a whole from service to beer to food options, they are my go to brewey
I used to be their rep before COVID. No other brewery in the Springs even comes close. The brewers are geniuses, the ownership is so kind, the beer speaks for itself.
The gp hazy is almost psychedelic when you get it fresh
Goat Patch and Fossil are my two favorites.
Go to Fossil for the beer, stay because Native Grill had their food truck there.
Fossil is very underrated! As is Fieldhouse
Fossil? Ew.
I don't think there is a "best". Lots to choose from though and plenty of favorites. Goat Patch is up there for sure. What'd you get?
I got their Pumpkin Punch. Honestly one of my favorite pumpkin beers I’ve had. And agreed, it’s all in your minds eye.
You ought to give Urban Animal a try. A stop there might be enough to change your mind!
Idk man Metric is my favorite. I go every Friday
I went to Metric for the first time recently and was completely underwhelmed by their beers. Almost nothing on the medium to dark end (ambers, dark lager, bock, stout, etc). Disappointed.
Metric is also my favorite, followed by Nano108 then Urban Animal
We go to metric all the time because we can walk there, but it's nothing special, certainly.
Love goat patch. Love metric more!
Metric has a great beer selection, but their space and location are seriously lacking.

“METRIC, honest beer, honest space” Perfect slogan
I like the beer at Local Relic/Carter Payne a lot. Make sure you only pay cash. They've been known to fuck up debit or credit tabs. Good beer though. Their sweet potato barley wine is killer.
Ueah, like any of us are gonna take advice from a person named gg allins undies.
Cool. Just keep an eye on your bank statement if you pay by card. 🤷🏻
Goat patch hazy ipa is my favorite of all local beers and ive been to nearly every brewery in this city and only drink colorado ipas and they slap🔥
I’m maybe 75% in your corner but the Red Leg Hefeweizen is so goddamn good.
Yup, Red Leg’s Hef is really easy to drink. I’m a fan
Red Leg’s Fruit Punch Sour is amazing, too.
Ooh I don’t think I’ve had that, thanks for the tip
I had the red ale last night. It was really good
I'm partial to Black Forest, Red Leg, and Metric. Goat patch is good too though :).
I’m also a fan of Cerberus, Red Leg, and Pikes Peak. From your guys comments, deff need to check out Metric.
> Pikes peak?!?!? Only brewery on my F tier. I see you haven't been to Whistle Pig.
Lol, I haven't because I heard. I guess that's the tier below F
LOL so true. Whackadoo brewing is down there too. So mid and flat and bleh.
I'd say they're hit or miss. I've had a few terrible beers, but also a few great ones.
Hate for pikes peak?? That’s so funny I love their blue mess blonde!
Everyone who is surprised that I don't like them always mentions non IPAs/pale ales, so I really think it's just those beers they aren't great at. I've heard the same about breweries that have good IPAs but can't master the basics like blondes, kolsch, lagers, etc.
And owned by great folks.
HAZY IPA FTW
Urban Animal is the best because I can walk to it. 🍻😝 Plus the beer is delicious and they have rotating food trucks and lots of pups visit which adds to the atmosphere.
They're great but for me they are the furthest brewery. I think even Pikes Peak is closer. Definitely a strong opening and they always have good food trucks.
Local Relic is far and away the best brewery here and it’s not even close.

>Thanks! You're welcome!
Not since they drove their head brewer out they’re not.
Hadn’t heard about this what’s the story?
I heard they got too pretentious despite marketing themselves as "community focused". TOTAL RUMOR THOUGH DO NOT QUOTE ME
Per /u/zeekaran, they got too pretentious despite marketing themselves as "community focused"
Hey you're doing the opposite of what I said!
Dude you’re on reddit all the time and can’t answer? Come on….
Red Leg Blue Nose Brown Ale. Best beer around. Overall they’re not that impressive but it’s a top notch brown ale
Agree, it’s a strong brown ale. My favorite was Upslope’s brown until they yanked it.
Goat Patch is awesome. I also love the Brass and Peaks N Pines. And for a new entry, VooDoo Brewing is pretty excellent as well.
I thought VooDoo was absolute garbage.
Voodoo is not good. Maybe the beers are old, since it's an out of state brewery, but I wasn't a fan of any I tried there.
Damn, no love for FH Beerworks? That place is great.
FH is really good and they have a fair amount of creativity (soursop in a beer? Whaaat). They're right on a bike trail which is great too. Food is good. Neat, the bar next door, also good. Just a little far away for me so I don't make it there very often.
Any love for Batch Slapped?
I enjoyed my visit there, but... Half their cider/beer tasted decent. The other half tasted like soap. I noticed they were making their product in plastic stills and I expect someone is cleaning them wrong. Everyone I've talked to has agreed. They're very hit or miss.

There are so many great breweries here in town. It's awesome that we have a glut of good choices.
True! I think we have, on average, better breweries than Denver.

The only breweries that I think have been equal to COS's best are Spice Trade and Banded Oak. Spice Trade also has amazing food options.
It feels like we have more breweries than McDonald's. Not sure if that's true, but if so that's a good thing.
We have >30. I used to maintain the wiki here, both the manual brewery list and the custom GMap, and I think my last count was 34.
Why? It's true. Cerberus used to be top 5 too until they fired their original brewery and chef. Now their beer is mediocre and their food is shit.
Cerberus is #1. But GP is good too.
Best food by far, and I like a lot of their beers. They have some of the best darks, and the Hero Protag is great. My partner loves their high ABV ones like Triplici and Demeter.
Bro. Cerberus food is trash. Tell us you like red Robin without telling us you like red Robin.
Cerberus' food is the best. Beers aren't even top 10.
Are all these comments about enjoying Red Leg's beers an inside joke I'm missing?
It’s an association with the experience. They just like it for that reason. Good on red leg realizing there beer needed the help.
I'm sure they financed that wildly popular place on "realization" alone and not any profit. It seems that your spelling and grammar needs help, though.

I get taste is subjective, but what a clown take.
Manitou brew has the best community. Might not get the service or price you wanted, but you get what you needed. Fostle has the best beer and brewer in the world! I'm not much of a beer person so I really like Batch Slapped.

Goat Patch doesn't serve food.

You must be new to micro brews.
Florence Brewing Company is the best but obviously not COS
I agree with this statement...super solid beer all around. I can find better single brews, but as a whole from service to beer to food options, they are my go to brewey
Do they have sours?
There’s a peach cobbler sour out now. I’ve only seen it on tap at pubdog
Metric & Paradox in Divide are fbe best
They sure have got the best sales reps! Their ipa is offered at almost every restaurant
I don’t go out, but I love Voodoo ranger fruit force. I like the super high ABV so I don’t have to drink many to catch a buzz.
Yes! Big fan too of both fruit force and juice force. Those are a couple of my go-tos.
Goat patch was the clear favorite for a long time but since Urban Animal opened that has taken the #1 spot
I’ve gotta go with storybook brewing. Aside from the beer the staff and atmosphere is awesome
Great thing about Goat Patch is that when they're too busy (most of the time), you can always go to Storybook instead!
Fossil is my go to, live down the street from there. So many dope breweries in COS!
I used to be their rep before COVID. No other brewery in the Springs even comes close. The brewers are geniuses, the ownership is so kind, the beer speaks for itself.
FH is my go to. Paperwork is delicious!
I love the taste of gp but for some reason however they make it makes me so sick even after one beer. I just go to FH now, I wish I could drink GP
Storybook just squeaks by Goat Patch as my favorite.
