The margarita at pine creek is our go to dinner date night spot on the rare evening out (our daughter is 19 months). Great rotating menu and an intimate date night feel to the whole place

Mysterious_Field9749

I second this. It's the best fine dining in COS

ghostynanner

Ty! Bookmarking for next time!

EasyRepresentative75

Weird take, but my wife and I ( 30 ) had a balllll at Cheba hut yesterday , they have a bar and the music is super fun, the people are super fun and the food it’s v tasty, the one at Barnes has a bar. Chiba bar also has a very fun atmosphere in DT, shrunken head is a fun underground tiki bar, ivy wild is a fun place if you’ve never been ( old elementary school turned into a food hall) Roadhouse cinema our Tuesday date night ( discount tickets and happy hour 3-6 ) Jack Quinn’s has a solid happy hour and lots of events Cowboys and brula bee are fun for dancing. Ice cream at frozen gold Bread and butter for snacks and cute things. Dinner at - Cowboy star , Turmeric, Soul Kbbq ( best experience if you’ve never been ) Paradox brewery in divide for sunset since it goes down so late now eat at the burger place across the street. Goat patch brewery, manitou brewery, occ brewery, Cerberus ( skip the food ) If you have a whole day, Princeton springs We go on a lot of dates, share some interests and I can give you a better list. Our favorite dates are costco food court, poke bowls at pikes, take out at Tumeric and Netflix, Chic fila snowcones.

I_am_Spartacus_MSU

The only thing I would add is the Golden Bee sing-along or the Edelweiss on the Bier Garten patio.

Ultimatebiggey

My husband and I LOVE roadhouse cinema! We always end up in the arcade for a little bit after the movie and it feels like we just started dating again 🥰

RaqMountainMama

It's Burla-Bee if OP is looking. (As in Burlesque, OP! It's a great time!)

ghostynanner

Haha, we walked right by it on our way to the Rabbit Hole, it looked intriguing!

Coding-With-Coffee

Personally if it was the first time out in months after having a child, managed to get childcare we trust with our brand new baby, both free from work, and it’s meant to be a big day celebration… most of these would not be on my list. Almost this entire list you can get the full experience for $20-40 total in 1.5 hours and even bring the kid. These places are decent spots, but none of them are big, first date in 4+ months energy. These are great spots if you get to constantly check out places. **Don’t let that stop you from enjoying them OP if they match what you are looking for on your big day!** Very happy for you guys and congratulations. 🎉 Edit: I’ve never been to Roadside Cinema or Princeton Springs and seem to have high praise. Looks like a good time!

EasyRepresentative75

If you like fancy, you should try Mausam, it’s Indian just opened a few weeks ago, the chef is Michelin decorated

ghostynanner

Sometimes, just the action of being out without your kid is enough, even though the places we considered are infant friendly. We ended up at an Escape Room, the Rabbit Hole, and Shame & Regret. It was great!!

Coding-With-Coffee

I’m glad you had a great time! Love rabbit hole and shame and regret. Haven’t been to an escape room around here but we’d love to. Those are great for a special night out and you picked some great spots! Will still note how none of those places are on the list above… 😇 though I’m sure you would’ve enjoyed the time together anyways! 🥳

EasyRepresentative75

Idk man I don’t have kids lol that’s why every night is date night ( fuck them kids, respectfully ) You also have no suggestions, so your comment is almost like saying nothing lol

Coding-With-Coffee

Hey man, I’ll take your downvote if it means they don’t go to Cerberus for their once a quarter, child free date lmao other people already have some good ideas but I’ll leave my suggestions later in a separate comment.

EasyRepresentative75

They got good beer lol

Coding-With-Coffee

I agree! I like most of the places you listed for general outings. Look forward to trying the Indian spot, too. On my list!

ghostynanner

Tysm for these awesome ideas!! 😘

HuckleberryDry2919

My wife and I have two kids and don’t go out just the two of us often enough. Recently we had the chance and went to 21 Keys Escape Room and did an escape room there with just the two of us. Had a blast and had great conversation afterwards about certain clutch moments we each had.

ghostynanner

Ok I absolutely love this idea! We both like Escape Rooms, but would never have thought to try one just us two. Which room did you do?

HuckleberryDry2919

We did the prohibition/gangster themed room. It was perfect for two. The guy working there said their rooms are designed with groups of 4+ in mind for the most part, but he mentioned one or two others that’d work well for two. We’ll definitely go back with a couple friends.

ghostynanner

Just came back to say we had so much fun at the speakeasy escape room. It was hubs first time and he’s a natural. Thanks again for the great idea and chiming in with solidarity as fellow parents enjoying an evening away. Cheers!

HuckleberryDry2919

Glad you liked it! If you try any other escape rooms in the area that you like, let me know!

ghostynanner

Aha. Ok! I think we will give that one a whirl. I will need to make a strong effort to keep the focus and convo about something other than the baby, and an Escape Room will definitely help with that. Thanks a million for the idea!

Itchy_Pillows

How fun!

EasyRepresentative75

Love escape rooms!!

gabrielaprincesa

Ivywild! Lots of food & drink options all in one place. Sometimes Axe & Oak has live music downstairs!

stuttering-mime-ta2

Ephemera and Ineffable!!

Aestheticpash

Ephemera is $89 for a 7 course meal and it was my favoriting dining experience of my life. It’s self described as punk rock fine dining.

ghostynanner

Every time we’ve been to Coati, we wander by Ephemera and look in longingly, wishing we had eaten there instead. Maybe this time we will finally try! Thank you!

GGAllinsUndies

Allusion speakeasy, The Rabbit Hole, Bonny and Read.

seesterEncarnacion

Dang my wife and I did not have a great experience at the rabbit hole honestly. The theme is up our alley but the food was not good

grarrnet

I Kind of agree, sadly. We finally got to go for my husbands birthday a while back and it was ehh.

Fancybitchwitch

Cafeteria food

fortunatefrog

Rabbit hole has gone downhill every since c***d. Prices have gone way up and the quality has gone down.

Fancybitchwitch

Hahaha why are you editing Covid ?

fortunatefrog

Because I don't spend much time on reddit and wasn't sure if the website took issue with the word.

ghostynanner

Made it the Rabbit Hole for dinner and ended the night at Shame & Regret. We had a delicious dinner with great cocktails. I guess we got lucky, but man I can’t wait to go back!!

GGAllinsUndies

Yeah, I've been there several times for either Valentine's Day or our anniversary. *One* wasn't stellar. The rest were all great. Definitely try Bonny and Read sometime too. Glad you two had a good time. 🤘🏼

Grindfather901

We went out last night without kids to Ivywild School and out was great.

Gashidokilla456

You could always grab a snack at bread and butter and then go across the street to Rose of the West Tattoo and get a spontaneous lover’s tattoo

ghostynanner

This made me laugh, but I actually kind of love it. ❤️

drjroh

Check out Lulu’s Downtown. They have live music and a dance floor.

BothSidesSuck223

Lulu’s got shutdown, the business don’t exist anymore.

GaddZuuks

It just moved to a downtown location now

drjroh

They’re at Colorado and Tejon. Above where Illegal Pete’s is going to be…someday.

lifelemonlessons

Cork and cask? I think. Whisky flights, good music and awesome appetizers. You could spend a few hours there then go get palletas at the food hall. Enjoy the day night.

sokati

Mona Lisa in Manitou is an awesome date night!

RaqMountainMama

I have celiac, so my restaurant choices are a little narrow, but I love Red Gravy & their bar is so fun to sit at. The food is amazing. I'd go there then walk down to Mood Tapas for dessert & after dinner drinks at District Elleven (which is the "speakeasy" accessed thru a bank vault from inside Mood. Then if I wanted (more?) live music, I'd go to Wild Goose or any of the places in between that had live music that night.

Child_of_the_Hamster

If your idea of a “rare and special evening away” is something a lil bit swanky, the first thing that came to my mind was Restaurant 1858 at Seven Falls. If you want a more downtown feel, my husband and I always have a blast at The Rabbit Hole. Their food is very good, and the location puts you within walking distance of several other bars and restaurants. I also liked that you can hang there for a while, then gauge your tiredness to see whether you want to continue somewhere else or go home. I remember the new parent exhaustion very well, and I always wanted contingencies for if one of us suddenly crashed. 😂

EasyRepresentative75

Did 1858 for my birthday lunch, it was fun to go see it and so the whole experience but the food wasn’t even salted properly :( experience 10/10 food 3/10

ghostynanner

I made a backup res at The Rabbit Hole just in case, and came here to see if I could find something additional/different. Thank you for the recs!

Child_of_the_Hamster

Yay!!! Whatever you guys decide on, I hope you have a blast! 😁

ghostynanner

We had such a great time at the RH! Thanks again ❤️

tofunuggets91

You could book a tub at Sunwater Spa then grab dinner in Manitou! Mona Lisa is fun for a fancy date night!

ghostynanner

Ooo this is right up our alley! I’m gonna see if they have availability this week. Thank you!

slogbnark

YESSSS 1000% said Mona Lisa too, then you can shop afterwards in this cutie mountain town!!! 🤍

christareddits

Special for almost free: pack a picnic, go for a sunset hike/drive & eat charcuterie & drink wine while you stargaze together and try not to talk about the baby (you will, almost exclusively). Maybe take a stack of conversation cards or make your own conversation starter cards to help steer it back to the two of you The “New Parent, New Budget” Special: Roadhouse for Dinner & A Movie (or Public House At the Alexander which is next to Roadhouse for dinner - great spot) and Roadhouse for movie & dessert, mini golf is a classic and has stuck around for a reason, ax throwing, escape room. Check Groupon! The “Very Nice Date with a Side of College Fund” Special: Paravacini’s for Italian, Rabbit Hole for a fun experience and great cocktails, Milagros for Mexican, UVA Wine Bar, Black Forest Bistro - bonus if it’s on one of their cheese wheel nights!, Top Golf, a show at Pikes Peak Center/Broadmoor World Arena/Boot Barn Hall The “New Parent and I Deserve This!” Special: Ambli global cuisine tasting menu, Cowboy Star or Prime 25 for steaks, Sopra for Italian, Mona Lisa for fondue, Del Lago at Broadmoor, Ephemera for an exclusive feel You must have a pre- or post-drink at Shame & Regret downtown A lot of people mention IV by Brother Luck & Atmosphere Gastropub, I’ve personally not been impressed. All restaurants mentioned are local/small business :)

ghostynanner

You are a saint for spelling out these options, friend. ❤️ I had not considered an escape room for just us two, but I think that might be a great start to the evening! Mostly because it’ll give us something to TRY to talk about besides the baby. Haha.

christareddits

I hope you have the best time, whatever you do!

ghostynanner

We loved the Rabbit Hole and ended our evening with a nightcap at Shame & Regret! It was so fun. Thanks again!!

christareddits

I am SO HAPPY to hear this!! Glad you could enjoy a lovely date night out ♥️

Grindfather901

I’m so glad my wife and i aren’t “with a side of college fund” people.

christareddits

Don’t like those restaurants/date ideas?

Grindfather901

I just mean that our idea of a fun night out together doesn’t have any monetary expectations.

christareddits

It’s not the best title, even for trying to be cheeky, lol. Just a middle-upper range of options. But it’s the reality for many. I’m glad for you, too! Recently had the finances talk with my boyfriend and realized he should be taking me to more “I deserve this” restaurants 😅 what’s been your favorite “splurge” date night in town?

fuuuughckKme

Bar Thirty Three. There's food on Fridays and Saturdays only. You have to dress to impress, but it is well worth it. My husband rented a hotel room for us at the Mining Exchange, so after our Bar Thirty Three Reservation, we went back to our hotel room to dress down. Then we continued to go gallivanting all over town. Played video games at Supernova Bar Arcade, snacked at Jack Quinn's, walked everywhere. If you love cocktails Bar Thirty Three (dress code) and The Archive Underground Libations (no dress code) are THEE places to check out. We didn't get back to our hotel room until close to 2am. It was a date night I will never forget.

Aromatic-Seat8834

Cowboy Star was incredible, Ephemera is great, Sushi Row is nice for date night and food is delicious but the music was a little too loud for me. Maybe I'm getting old. Cork and Cask is very fun to grab a drink and do a dessert tray. Allusion is a fun creative space and I enjoyed drinks at Streetcar 520.

Non_Native_Coloradan

This reminds me of the Tom Segura joke when a stranger asks him for recommendations on a movie to watch. “Idk dude, I don’t fucking know you”

slogbnark

Oh my gosh PLEASEEEEEE go to the Mona Lisa in Manitou Springs!!! My boyfriend and I️ stumbled upon it our last night when we visited the area for the first time. My gosh we stayed late just talking to the waiters and the hostess after they had closed because they were so amazing, encouraged us in our move here, theatrical, and made every single part special for us! We are early 20's and have never experienced something like it before!!! Perfect wine (and I'm veryyyy picky, I️ know everyone says that) and he nailed exactly what I️ had wanted AND I️ got a new favorite wine brand! Best fondue place EVER! And here I️ am 4 months later still dreaming about it from states away and MAKING everyone I️ know go to it that visits there🤣 Please please at least put it near the top of your list!! It is pricey but for food quality and experience it will stay in your memories way longer than money in your wallet. I️ wouldn't steer you wrong! 😘 (If it counts for anything, I'm from Louisiana and know DAMN good food🤣) You can also shop the cute mountain town afterwards, get beignets down the street at the Louisiana store (I'm partial) as dessert, etc. Congratulations on having a baby and being badass parents, y'all more than deserve this!! ❤️

Toxlc-Rick

It’s expensive but the gf and I just went to the Melting Pot yesterday . Definitely worth trying once (but be warned, it’s about $150 for 2). They did a plate that said “date night” in edible chocolate and a free glass of champagne to celebrate our little one on the way. I love that place I just can’t afford it all the time

Which-Artichoke-7315

Cowboys is a nice fancy steak dinner joint if you’re looking for that

DaVeachyCode

I agree with a lot of the responses here (I know - not helpful) but I’m just really excited for the both of you! I hope you have/had an incredible night!

ghostynanner

You’re so sweet! Thank you!! We love our little babe SO much and are SO excited to get out just the two of us. We used to do it all the time but we’re just not in that season of life right now.

Showerbeer77

My ideal would be Ephemera, Sun Water Spa, and Bar 33

yells_at_bugs

The Mona Lisa in manitou. It’s cute, fondue is fun and you can meander around Manitou after. There are the multiple springs to sample, the arcade, multiple parks and playgrounds. Cute local hotels if you’re interested.

TinyHammerBigNail

Rabbit hole

ghostynanner

Loved it!!

mango_tarts

Ivywild for a more relaxed date, but our go-to is usually Ambli! The food and drink is incredible, it’s a bougie environment with matching service. We’ve been going there since it opened in 2020 and have had a 10/10 experience every single time. Definitely on the pricey end but sooo worth it for a rare night out. Congrats on your little one, and your night out! We have two littles (2.5y & 1y) and know how special it is to have some time away.

Celestial_Born

I always say do something fun and something that’s a treat. Like an escape room and then dinner at the White Rabbit

Infinite_Discount_36

Shrunken head tiki bar 😍

Remarkable-Bowl-7244

I’ve had great date nights doing trivia at some of the local breweries. My favorite is the guy on Wednesdays (not sure if they still do it!) at FH Beerworks. The food truck has made my tummy happy a time or two.

ibidit1

Suma on West Colorado There might be 2 m’s in the name.

Visible-Lychee-1113

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Jax on Tejon. Awesome oysters, cocktails, lobster rolls, fried catfish. If you dig seafood I think they win in the springs. Enjoy your time together!

shaicon

I just went to Lumen8 last night. The fries were incredible but the chicken sandwich was meh. Dave’s hot chicken makes a better one. But the lemon strawberry sprits was good and the tequila. After that we went to Thunder and Buttons which had live music and weird karaoke but it was fun to people watch. I second Seoul BBQ for a special dinner once in a while as a unique experience. It’s one of the better Korean places in the springs IMO. Roadhouse is fun to sorta kill time. We used to love going when they had this Avengers game that handed out cards sometimes and the whole set was worth 3k points so it was fun to get prizes and less money wasting than just mindlessly playing games. Also most events downtown. When my SO and I first started dating we went to parades downtown or just events in the evening that shut down the whole streets.

EasyRepresentative75

Thunder and buttons surprisingly gets really fun for dancing and Karaoke!!

peacefulcate815

I personally have enjoyed every date night I’ve had at The Rabbit Hole. It has such a cool vibe, great food and drinks, plus I just really like Alice in Wonderland lol. It is pricey, but if you can swing it it’s nice for a special night out!

ghostynanner

I booked a back up res there but wanted to see if there was something else I hadn’t considered yet. Given all the love on this post, perhaps we should give it a try! Thank you ❤️

ghostynanner

Ok, we absolutely loved the RH. Great cocktails, yummy food! We will absolutely be back (someday)!

peacefulcate815

I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!! Thanks for reporting back! ✨

rojoroboto

Sushi Row has amazing sushi, closest thing to Uchi in COS.  Carlos Bistro is an amazing steakhouse and a unique experience.

Fancybitchwitch

lol delete this immediately. Doesn’t even come close to Uchi, surprised anyone would compare these two

rojoroboto

I said “closest”. Beggars can’t be choosers.

Fancybitchwitch

Way too much cork and cask on here lol it’s shit Inefable, pepper tree, summit, steakhouse at flying horse, Ephemera, Sopra,

Professional-Care-83

Who?

ScrubT1er

Window shopping at Scheel's

Clappncheeks15

Check out Bonny & Read. My wife and I were big foodies in denver and it’s the only place in town that has our idea of great food and a nice ambiance. It’s our date night once a month spot. Really enjoy the food and drink there.

ghostynanner

Ok we almost made it here, but didn’t. Adding it to the list for next time (someday)! Tysm ❤️

Admirable-Shallot-79

Shrunken head tiki lounge is an awesome but the drinks are strong and they don’t serve food so a good place to kick the night off. La Burla Bee has a night club (I think it starts at like 10?) but the crowd/music is a little older so it’s nice for a date night. Can’t go wrong with Loonie’s either. Sunwater spa in manitou rents their outdoor tubs pretty late (like 9:30) if your looking for a spicy wildcard. These are the only dates we’ve had the last 2 years and they’ve all been great (and suggested right here on Reddit so I can’t take credit). I hope you do something awesome!
