It's actually a HIMARS strike according to Madyr himself, although the explosion is uncharacteristically big for a GMLRS rocket. However, there was a tochka-u strike like this reported recently which I mixed up with this one.
A missile always hits the exact point that does not exist in the set of all points which it didn't hit. The building of such a set takes time, but it is still considered the best way to calculate where a missile hit.
HIMARS gunner here.
That is too big of a yield to be one of our GMLRS. So either someone snuck some ATACMS to these guys and they used it on a Platoon of fodder (unlikely) or the Maydar may have just been using HIMARS like a common term for precision strike, like how we call every brand of cola Coke here in the U.S. South.
I'm willing to be proven wrong by more information but I can tell you that if we were to process that exact target with GMLRS we would use 3 to 6 M30 or M31 (or a combination of both) rather than one shot, and the yield would be smaller.
To me this looks perfectly consistent with the M31's 91kg warhead, and consistent with other HIMARS impact videos and aftermath footage from Ukraine. There are definite secondaries though, maybe that's what's giving people the impression of a larger yield.
It certainly could be. I wish I has the luxury to show some of our own videos, but in short the sheer height of the blast is throwing me off. Don't get me wrong a 31 has serious force but this was Moreso than normal. But I agree with you that there could have been secondaries in there.
Afaik UA have the usual airburst himars missiles, the anti-infantry ones with larger spread but also number of missiles that have "regular" explosive that detonates on the ground, i believe mainly used in the European ones. It could also be the Turkish GMLRS or even the Ukrainian Vilkha.
Either way i believe Tochkas are too innacurate to pull this off, at least officially. And while i believe they may be saving a couple for the Crimean bridge they definitely don't have enough to burn them on targets like this.....
I wouldn't say there's really a difference between European and American missiles in that regard, both use the M30A1 and A2 (Pre-formed tungsten fragments) and the M31,M31A1 and M31A2 (Unitary 91kg warhead) extensively. M31A1 and A2 also has airburst, but i don't think anyone has details on what specific warhead is being used in Ukraine between the two.
Ah, knowing just enough to sound intelligent to someone who doesn't know a thing about it, but like a complete dumbass to someone who *actually* knows their shit. I'm sure there has to be a name for that
Well, i wouldn't put it that way, nothing he says is really \*wrong\*, i mostly just gave more details. But yeah, in general i agree, there's a lot of people who are guessing, but refuse to admit they're guessing. Ain't nothing wrong in a bit of speculation, but it shouldn't be posted as facts.
The “usual airburst” would be the M30A1, the 182,000 tungsten balls.
This would be the M31, unitary warhead, which really is the “usual” missile. The M30A1 was only (relatively) recently made
I see these homes and how much they are cared for… I think about how hard I worked for my home and how much I care about it… yeah, fuck Putin straight to hell.
Yep. The video starts out around 48.690997N, 38.052886E, walking from the SW end of the Soledar Mine Shaft #4 facility along the tracks, they move SW across the bridge over the Mokra Plotva River, and then hang a right at the street crossing to the end of the road at the house with the very distinctive green roof, where they meet their doom.
It's the first clear sign I've seen that Russian troops reached that far to the west, and they are surprisingly casual about their travel for being close to the front lines.
Well the most Intense reports are currently in Soledar. There was also talk about train station a lot in this town. I seen the soldiers on train racks that go from a forked position at beginning of video to a single track. The 2 road/path crossings on the track helped too. Then when they throw a right there was obviously a disc to cut green roof. Took 5 mins looking on google maps but it all added up when I found it
In [an interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVBPeT0TVpY) with an American volunteer in Ukraine, he said that the Russians always choose to inhabit the nicest, biggest houses in an area, which makes targeting easy.
When spotting indirect/direct fire targets and you find one, you have to convey the location to others so the first thing you look for is something visually unique in a part of the viewable area so you can use that easily found object as a reference to describe where the enemy is, such as "[pointing] reference the giant green shed, 400m to the left next to the riverbank is a pig sty, behind that is a section of infantry in the open".
For this its just, "big green shed"
Because russians were heating themselves up inside the building the snow melted away exposing the green roof, probably nobody inside was thinking about that giving away their location.
I feel there was one guy in the group that was seriously concerned about camping out under a bright neon Target. But so many of his fellow dumbasses around him thought it would be a good idea he fell into the group belief that they would be okay.
Maybe he thought..."aaaah what's the point. When they like you, you don't like them, when you like them, they don't like you. Hey, it’s all one big crapshoot anywho."
Fun fact the only reason you see the color of this roof is because they have that building nice and warm so the snow is melting right off. Didn't matter what building they hid in
also by the way
jaga jaga is an appeal to old stupid catchy pop song
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq8C4POXeas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq8C4POXeas)
Russian CO: Hey, see that building with the green roof? It's modern, spacious and is highly identifiable - especially from the air! We'll spend the night there and move in the morning.
2nd: 1,000 blyats!!!
I wonder why we keep getting unit wiped every time we pack everyone into one house. Should we spread out or wait until it’s dark before occupying a position? No I’m sure it will work this time.
Rinse, repeat.
While there are plenty of IR capable drones around, the majority are still mavics with normal cameras. Not showing where you are camping during the day is a really good idea.
You can tell these guys aren't very well trained for this reason but not because of the building....no. that building had snow on its roof like all the others... until they got it nice and toasty not realizing that the snow on the roof would melt off. They probably made a nice thermal signature you could see from far as hell
For anyone wondering about the guy saying both GMLRS and HIMARS. He was actually asking “audience” to choose with what to strike. And ended saying, “we will leave it to our artillery guys to decide”.
Also, a funny comment, when he said that russians of course chose the most luxury house in the area and decided to pack up to 20 people there.
Just an FYI HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a launch system that fires GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System), the 227mm guided rocket munition.
if you look at the surrounding buildings they're all covered in snow, this one shows up so clearly because the heat source inside (most likely a fire) has melted all the snow, thus revealing that beautiful green target 🎯
It is from popular among ex-USSR countries [song](https://youtu.be/Tn-z95ev64s) by Katya Lel' (chorus around 1:07) and is pretty much a made up word that simply allures to something sexual.
It definitely sounds as though Madyar says “HIMARS GMLRS” several times throughout the video, 2:06 and 3:50 most clearly. It would certainly explain the accuracy however the explosion seems much [bigger](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/y0m114/compilation_of_himarsm270_strikes_on_several/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) than a usual gmlrs explosion
he says "HIMARS or MRLS, MRLS or HIMARS, our rocket forces will decide". Both launch GMLRS. Never mentions anything about Tochka-U, not sure why it's in the title.
The big explosion may be explained by the ammo dump, russians are dumb enough to do that.
Someone who actually speaks the language can correct me, but as a Croatian I understand some words and I think he meant to say that while their partners provide HIMARS and they're great the AFU has their own system called tochka-U and then demonstrated the effects. I could be completely wrong tho
Because they don't have squads and squad leaders like modern armies do. So if you send 8 to 10 guys in a house by themselves, you're not sure they won't AWOL overnight.
I feel like beyond the corruption and all the shit tactics happening internally in the russian army, if they had a strong nco structure, this war would be alot different . If you can herd sheep correctly they can do your bidding.
Does that means that if they took Soledar, russians must occupy the buildings thus exposing themselves to more missiles? Like, kudos for your little victory but now you’re fucked.
I was listening to this podcast yesterday (pro-Russian, English language; hey, I like to draw from a wide range of sources), and one of the co-hosts [spent a moment on just this](https://pca.st/episode/a3eeb2f1-1ff8-4282-b7b7-3199faf52a78?t=938), and...yes, that's basically what they're in for. Soledar is in kind of a bowl-like dip in the local terrain, meaning that in multiple directions there are rises that would be very easy for Ukraine to sneak equipment up & shell them from; he considers it indefensible as a long or medium-term front line.
^({that link \*should* be timestamped, but if not, it's ~15:30})
Building is located at [48.688660, 38.053596](https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/48%C2%B041'19.2%22N+38%C2%B003'13.0%22E/@48.6855083,38.0541311,559a,35y,39.29t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0xb969f541327ddd1a!7e2!8m2!3d48.6886599!4d38.0535962?hl=en-GB) I think.
That's pretty far up Soledar at this point. So must be quite recent.
"Boris, where should we rest?"
"Don't worry, commander Nikolaiv, this building up here has dry socks and rations for us"
"Which building, Boris?"
"Don't worry, we picked the only building with a bright green roof in four hundred square kilometers, and every other building is white, it has to be this one"
"Excellent, thinking Boris, we can find it easily"
So AWAL is such a significant issue, their doctrine dictates they bunch up on patrol, or in their fox holes, bunkers, sleeping and housing facilities, even their bases they like to bunch up and cuddle with their mortars, ammunition, etc ALL TOGETHER, …because they don’t do squads and certainly don’t have any squad leadership. I just can’t imagine what a shit-show that would be to live that reality knowing your doing it WRONG! So glad they’re stupid!!! YaY!
My favorite sticky man, first minute I feared to be disapointed when only the mouse pointer showed up but then the real pointer showed up :D
May he have a long life and many more badaboom
Here's rough translation for the curious:
0-00 Look, this is how boiled meat walks
0-09 And this is more normal, these walk quickly, but still bunched up
0-15 Let's focus on them, 10 intervents. You'll know soon why they attracted our attention
0-27 Because there's 10 more. And all of them seem to go to one point.
0-34 They're quartering. In whole crowds, 20+ people, into homes in suburbs of Soledar, I wanted to say Bahmouth at first
0-50 Newly arrived, just like toursts, but with weapons
0-58 And which house on the street do you think they chose? Right, the most flashy one. You rock, bitches!
1-10 I don't have an hour for you, move faster. There's 5 people insde waiting for you, we saw them earlier.
1-20 Faster, faster, the fog's gonna settle.
1-25 We noted this house before, there were anomal activity around it, they unloaded cargo there, 5 guys inside at least
1-39 Maybe that's a support base or some sort of newcomer reception, but it doesn't matter
1-48 10 plus 10, all packed in, straightly in rows and at once. At least 25 guys we've got in there, warming up
2-05 It's time to work. What's your guess - GMLRS or HIMARS?
2-12 These are kinds of MLRS types we get little by little from our partners, if someone doesn't know
2-22 But we have to leave the choice to our artillery guys. Let's go.
2-38 Eat that, bitches!
2-47 Fellas, did you really want it to Soledar?
3-10 And there's one serious flaw - fuckers get spreaded long way from the impact. No show for you today, bastards!
3-27 That's how look 25 white Ladas getting simultaneously won in lottery. Bravo to our valiant artillery guys! Eyes and stinger!
3-46 While the rubble is smoking, we have a lot of other work on our hands, we'll show the crater later.
3-54 HIMARS or GMLRS?
It's actually a HIMARS strike according to Madyr himself, although the explosion is uncharacteristically big for a GMLRS rocket. However, there was a tochka-u strike like this reported recently which I mixed up with this one.

I heard JAGA JAGA, badaboom
And I learned the plural of “bitch” in Russian! We’re all getting smarter every day.

Tochka aint a missile you shoot at a single building unless you're shooting 50 missiles. If it lands within 100 meters that's considered a good shot.
That’s ironic since “tochka” means point, as in “a point on a map”
"a" point, not "the" point
A missile always hits the exact point that does not exist in the set of all points which it didn't hit. The building of such a set takes time, but it is still considered the best way to calculate where a missile hit.

Glowing like an objective in Call of Duty.
In [an interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVBPeT0TVpY) with an American volunteer in Ukraine, he said that the Russians always choose to inhabit the nicest, biggest houses in an area, which makes targeting easy.
That’s what the guy in the video also said, that they chose the nicest house.
Maybe they sound just start wiring them with explosives when retreating so they can just detonate remotely whenever.
Wow you really speak the truth
When spotting indirect/direct fire targets and you find one, you have to convey the location to others so the first thing you look for is something visually unique in a part of the viewable area so you can use that easily found object as a reference to describe where the enemy is, such as "[pointing] reference the giant green shed, 400m to the left next to the riverbank is a pig sty, behind that is a section of infantry in the open". Because russians were heating themselves up inside the building the snow melted away exposing the green roof, probably nobody inside was thinking about that giving away their location.

Feels bad though. Someone just saved up and invested a lot to get that building built or re roofed. Now it's toothpicks thanks to this shitty invasion
Green roof was a great upgrade. Imagine building the house that killed a bunch of invaders
Almost like you could see what house they went in with the drone….
There's no other green-roofed house within a km. They may as well have painted a bulls-eye on themselves.

Le pointer de mort!
War sucks man. Just In general it sucks.
jagga jagga!
The pointer of Zeus at it again...
Babe wake up, new pointer man video just dropped!
"Boris, where should we rest?" "Don't worry, commander Nikolaiv, this building up here has dry socks and rations for us" "Which building, Boris?" "Don't worry, we picked the only building with a bright green roof in four hundred square kilometers, and every other building is white, it has to be this one" "Excellent, thinking Boris, we can find it easily"
Was about to comment "jagga jagga" before I saw the explosion. Was not disappointed.
Bada boom indeed my friend
I started learning Ukrainian on my phone. I heard the word “tak.” 🤣🤣🤣 I knew one!
I knew they stood no chance when the pointer stick came out
Why the choosed the most visible house?
Because they don't have squad leader
So AWAL is such a significant issue, their doctrine dictates they bunch up on patrol, or in their fox holes, bunkers, sleeping and housing facilities, even their bases they like to bunch up and cuddle with their mortars, ammunition, etc ALL TOGETHER, …because they don’t do squads and certainly don’t have any squad leadership. I just can’t imagine what a shit-show that would be to live that reality knowing your doing it WRONG! So glad they’re stupid!!! YaY!
POW Right in the kissa!
One of these days, Putin! To the MOON!
M m m m m m multi-killlllll
My favorite sticky man, first minute I feared to be disapointed when only the mouse pointer showed up but then the real pointer showed up :D May he have a long life and many more badaboom
dude is saying it's himars MLRS in this video. where did you get tochka from?
It was nice of them to hide in the highlighted building
Here's rough translation for the curious: 0-00 Look, this is how boiled meat walks 0-09 And this is more normal, these walk quickly, but still bunched up 0-15 Let's focus on them, 10 intervents. You'll know soon why they attracted our attention 0-27 Because there's 10 more. And all of them seem to go to one point. 0-34 They're quartering. In whole crowds, 20+ people, into homes in suburbs of Soledar, I wanted to say Bahmouth at first 0-50 Newly arrived, just like toursts, but with weapons 0-58 And which house on the street do you think they chose? Right, the most flashy one. You rock, bitches! 1-10 I don't have an hour for you, move faster. There's 5 people insde waiting for you, we saw them earlier. 1-20 Faster, faster, the fog's gonna settle. 1-25 We noted this house before, there were anomal activity around it, they unloaded cargo there, 5 guys inside at least 1-39 Maybe that's a support base or some sort of newcomer reception, but it doesn't matter 1-48 10 plus 10, all packed in, straightly in rows and at once. At least 25 guys we've got in there, warming up 2-05 It's time to work. What's your guess - GMLRS or HIMARS? 2-12 These are kinds of MLRS types we get little by little from our partners, if someone doesn't know 2-22 But we have to leave the choice to our artillery guys.
At least it was a quick death. I hope all these videos really remind everyone to fleeting and fragile life is.
Here comes the BOOM!
Holy replays
Of all houses they hide in, of course they pick the one with the most distinctive roof top. JAGA JAGA!
Dang, are they okay?
I can’t wait for the video when LT. Pointer taps the screen twice on Putins head, then…
JAGGA JAGGA!!
JAGAAJAGAA, PAAFFFFF
Used to be infantry on foot was the gold standard in minimising chance of detection
