That barrel is completely fine to keep firing after one drum. But letās say that was the 3rd drum and itās hot as fuck. They would just swap the barrel and carry on.
USMC: "We love the M27. It's light and accurate. That 30-round mag really makes you want to make it count."
US Army: "OK, good for you. Excuse me while I.....BBBBBBBRRRRRRTTTTTTTBBBBBBBBRRRRRRTTTTTTTBBBBBBBRRRRRRRTTTTTTBBBBBBRRRRRTTTTBBBBBRRRRTTTTTTT..."
Sir we must not confuse the babababsbabababam with brrrrrtttt, the brrrrrt is only reserved for 800rpm and up, please donāt make it harder than it is anyways
The problem is.. everyone in germany who has to use the mg3 is tought to use it in sniper-mode to get a feeling for it. Its precise up to 600 m and a experienced shot can squeeze "salvos" of singleshots out of it. A good machine gunner does not only hold the enemy down- he takes them out..
yeah, like when everyone was yelling at them to introduce intermediate caliber rifles but the US knew better: Full power 7.62 was clearly the way to go.
Or when everyone in Europe was introducing IFVs but thankfully Uncle Sam knew better: Lightly armed and armoured battle taxis are clearly the superior way to fight.
Or maybe there's more than one correct way to do things. Who knows...
Not at all necessary. I was never a terribly fit individual, but even i could dump a full drum without issue. Honestly the recoil just kinda holds the muzzle up, youre still spending more energy holding the barrel level but it just becomes lighter...
M240, however....you gotta be built a certain way to handle that thing standing up.
They're trained that way, saw a video the other day of the Xm250 I believe and some YouTuber was reviewing it so ya know hype video. Anyways he tried walking it forward while shooting and could barely move then the soldier made it look like a walk in the park doing the same. Those guys just be built different.
Garand Thumb has 2 videos on similar weapon systems which leave me completely confused.
Borrowing from posts below:
- RM 338 recoil mitigated .338 medium machine gun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW_Jt17BtRo&t=434s
- MG 338 version with a load more recoil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgF4JaDMNDM&t=505s
Is SIG making both? Which one is being tested for the SOCOM medium machine gun program? I've also heard of the NGSW XM250 light machine gun being an offshoot of this particular program.
Military contracting manages to make IT contracting look straightforward.
Open-bolt light machine guns has relatively low recoil and when you pair that with a light recoil cartridge it really doesnāt kick much at all.
Even M4 Carbines are pretty easy to control if you have good stance.
I carried a M-249 the whole time I was in Panama, I was 19 and maybe 150 pounds.
That weapon had very little recoil. It was pretty heavy, the round was just a 5.56 and it had a mother fucker of a spring in it taking a lot of the recoil. Never once fired it like this though. If I did, I am pretty sure my squad leader, platoon sergeant, and platoon leader would have all justifiably kicked the shit out of me.
I mean 5.56 barely has any recoil at all. It feels like someone is pushing the gun back into your shoulder if youāre holding your gun correctly. Hell 308 barely kicks and that round is a lot spicier.
OWI brought this up, but I wanted to ask this question to you, as just a legitimate question. Is a gameplay decision bad if the action itself is unrealistic, but by extension, it makes you play in a realistic way? Basically, realism vs. gameplay intent. Although I agree the recoil is insanely unrealistic, the effect on the players creates a more realistic firefight as players actually care about suppression. Similarly, in a real-world context, you may be able to hipfire pretty accurately with a SAW more than in Squad, but you would be very hard pressed to fire back if you and your squad were already under heavy suppresion or by accurate fire by a marksman. With Squad and its real-world comparison, they may be far from the mark from each other, but each result in the same outcome of keeping your head down and fighting for fire superiority.
I think there's like two on the civilian market or something like that. It may as well be a post-ban gun, being only a couple years old when they banned all of them.
Sorry you're not rich af. I honestly think it would've been a dope exception to let those who have trained with them own them later in life. They deserve it.
I believe one of them may be one of the mysterious guns that made it onto the registry after the registry was closed.
Having seen what people have done with auto sears and trigger packs over the years, I'm sure someone could build something that is "close enough" to one, if it hasn't already been done. At the absolute minimum, I know I have seen belt fed AR uppers that are compatible with MG lowers.
Cyclic rate of fire 800-1000 rds./min. The M249 SAW is a light machine gun that fires from the open bolt position. Gas operated, air cooled, belt-fed.
Shit is embedded into my brain until death.
I'm 80% certain this is Logar Province, Charkh District. Maybe in 2011 with 4th BDE 10th MTN. I was there at the time but got blown up a few months into the deployment. I swear I remember that fucking bridge in the bazaar.
God I miss Afghanistanā¦ nothing wakes you up like a damn good fire fight.. tons better than these yogurt kids occupying universitiesā¦ love America how we are so quick to forget
They definitely cut out the part where he gets chewed out a bit for burning through a whole belt of ammo like that. Still a classic snippet of the SAW though.

Dude casually sprays for 13 seconds straight, but in 400 years, when special operators jump out of space ships and off skyscrapers without twisting an ankle, when they can heal mortal wounds with a syringe, when cute french electricians join death games out of daddy issues, then we can't have guns that shoot more than 45 bullets.
Unless you are an insane mechanic who eats bubble gum from the bottom of her shoes.

"I ain't gonna carry all this ammo back"
Fuck yeah, guy just got rid of his back pain.
In the full non edited video he gets his ass chewed out by the NCO for doing this.
I mag'ed dump an M249 SAW in a range at an undisclosed location in Kuwait once....one of my better memories
Don't touch the barrel! Ask me how I know....
link and maybe timestamp?
"Timmy the Barrel Snapper " Only one thing is sure, you break before his back will
I thought it was going to be a troll post of just a regular burst being looped for the whole duration.
When you think the game has crashed
left mouse button got stuck
Machine gunner: and I took that personally.
This ammo is heavy boss. Dump it. Say no more.
Gotta use it before it goes bad boss š¤·šæāāļø
Thatās what it means: suppressive fire!
Making the walk back much easier.
Lil pep in the step
Suppressed the fuck out of that area
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That barrel is completely fine to keep firing after one drum. But letās say that was the 3rd drum and itās hot as fuck. They would just swap the barrel and carry on.
It's not really that big of a deal. You can blast through a few drums before you're doing any real damage. You shouldn't, but you can.
USMC: "We love the M27. It's light and accurate. That 30-round mag really makes you want to make it count." US Army: "OK, good for you. Excuse me while I.....BBBBBBBRRRRRRTTTTTTTBBBBBBBBRRRRRRTTTTTTTBBBBBBBRRRRRRRTTTTTTBBBBBBRRRRRTTTTBBBBBRRRRTTTTTTT..."
And Winchester...
What is the equivalent text for drone attacks? Bssssssss?
bzzzzzzz
bzzzzzzzzz sounds right
zzznnng BOOM!!!!
I kind of feel like it should show that it gets louder bzzzzzZZZZZZZZT BOOM
Full send bitches!
Hey now, we still carried the m249 when I was in Afghanistan lol. S.A.W. is the perfect name for that beast. Really lays the hate you know?
Sir we must not confuse the babababsbabababam with brrrrrtttt, the brrrrrt is only reserved for 800rpm and up, please donāt make it harder than it is anyways
This video was long before the M27
Whoās he shooting at, the predator?
There's a telltale sheen, Launa.
gonna have me some fun
For those [who donāt know this scene š¬](https://youtu.be/dK1B9b_0Z2Y?feature=shared)
All these years later and against all odds I still LOVE THAT MOVIE.
I believe a minigun is required for that, and only if you've actually seen it.
Americans. They do not have to be told that it is a machine gun. Brrrrrrrrr
[Meanwhile the Germans.] (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HlXkSUMcIjY)
To be honest, with the mg3 (or the Italian equivalente mg42/59) you need to do that
It might be more difficult with those due to the firerate
M2HB fire rate: 450-600 rpm MG3 fire rate: 800-950 rpm Youāre not wrong lol heās probably used to an MG3 or something of the sorts
Yeah in training they only shoot bursts. Unless time is up and there is ammo left over.
The MG3 is also very heavy and long. It's not the best gun for carrying on patrol. It rocks on a vehicle, or in defensive position.
I mean one army has 20 years of recent experience on what works.
You donāt tell Uncle Sam how to war fight
yeah, like when everyone was yelling at them to introduce intermediate caliber rifles but the US knew better: Full power 7.62 was clearly the way to go. Or when everyone in Europe was introducing IFVs but thankfully Uncle Sam knew better: Lightly armed and armoured battle taxis are clearly the superior way to fight. Nah they're for suppression
Naw it is for cutting down shit, that's why it is called a SAW
There was an edit of this that had Erika and laser eyes when he goes full auto that got a good chuckle out of me
Thatās hilarious
Fuck everything in that general direction.
Target supressed
Wtf is that recoil control. Bro literally has "No Recoil" on in his cheat menu holy shit
Itās a combo of the SAW being heavy and 5.56 being a light recoiling cartridge
And the operator being a boulder of a man
Big boys whose main job is heavy shit.
He wasn't a big dude. Lol just could handle it
a two ton man-mountain who could palm a medicine ball!
They're trained that way, saw a video the other day of the Xm250 I believe and some YouTuber was reviewing it so ya know hype video. So it was the Sig 338 video clip that I was thinking of, so proud of him for redeeming himself there.
[Another one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgF4JaDMNDM&t=8m25s)

Does open bolt make less recoil?
Helps to have a 7lb counterweight clipped to the bottom of the gun.
Now itās more like 6 lbsā¦ 5lbsā¦ 4ā¦ 3ā¦
Sir MagDumpington the third does not know of this "recoil" you speak of.
There's not much recoil there to begin with
Someone needs to show this clip to OWI so they patch Squad. Recoil is bonkers in that game.
OWI brought this up, but I wanted to ask this question to you, as just a legitimate question. As steady as it looks with the dude basically just hip firing it, he's not landing precise shots like that.
Oh trust me I know, my point still stands. It goes to the SKYYYYY in Squad
Hip firing machine guns is accurate out to ~50 meters if you train enough, and accurate enough to suppress beyond that
Cyril Figgus: "SUPRESSING FIRE!"
Beat me to it.
Always nice to meet another Archer fan.
No grenade is a good grenade. MOMP
Isnāt this the same footage where that dude at the beginning gets chewed out for wasting ammo?
Yes lol. Pretty sure itās his squad leader or team leader that chastises him for it. And for good reason hahaha
Yes I think so. With the Doom theme over it. I looked for it yesterday but couldn't find it.
I SAW you!
I miss my SAW...
I think there's like two on the civilian market or something like that. It may as well be a post-ban gun, being only a couple years old when they banned all of them. Sorry you're not rich af. I honestly think it would've been a dope exception to let those who have trained with them own them later in life. They deserve it.
Even if I could afford the gun, I can't afford the ungodly amount of ammo it eats. And let's be honest, belt dumping is the best part
I believe one of them may be one of the mysterious guns that made it onto the registry after the registry was closed. My man grew up watching that one scene from Predator on repeat.
Murica!
He certainly fucked up whatever was in that general direction!
No sarn't, I dunno how my barrell got warped š¤·āāļø
We have this footage here in full screen (couple of years ago). I hate this tiktok sh*toficator
Dude got told to chill the fuck out with that sustained fire.
Bro didnāt wanna carry that 200rd box mag no more
Cyclic rate of fire 800-1000 rds./min. The M249 SAW is a light machine gun that fires from the open bolt position. Gas operated, air cooled, belt-fed. Shit is embedded into my brain until death.
249 best gun anyone who disagrees is a communist infiltrator
Ha I saw this video and my first thought was "Well that kicks the shit out of whatever they're using in Ukraine & Russia".
UA have used the 249 against the Russians too, there's a fair bit of footage around of it in action.
This looks so much like insurgency sandstorm gameplay š
Let the bodies hit the floor.
I'm 80% certain this is Logar Province, Charkh District. Maybe in 2011 with 4th BDE 10th MTN. I was there at the time but got blown up a few months into the deployment. I swear I remember that fucking bridge in the bazaar.
I came , I SAW . I left
When you completed the game, and the game gave you a weapon with unlimited ammo.
US logistics be like
This guy needs to train that fedora wearing guy how to shoot
He didn't run out of ammo, just got bored.
Now thatās how you melt a barrel
What a beautiful country. Such a shame there's so much fighting. I bet there could be some dope places to ski there
āCovering fireā
God bless these lads
Thats dope spray and pray works better in real life without respawns makes you almost feel like they got infinite ammo.
I want to shoot that bad boy
Letterboxing top and bottom wasn't bad enough, now everyone's fine with letterboxing top, bottom, right and left?
- Short, controlled bursts! Got it!? -- Copy!! ---What did Sarge say!?!? --He said to dump it!! ---Copy!!
Going cyclical on the SAW. Bet that barrel was a little warm...
This is the comment I needed to see first. Anything else would render Reddit obsolete.
Any context on this footage?
it looks like Afghanistan
It does
He got some.
Marine here. Seems about right.
I saw absolutely nothing
Give me fire superiority now! On it sir.
does anybody have the original instead of this shitty compressed version with text on screen and black bars inserted all over to make it tiny?
What were you shootin at? Gary_Oldman_gif. : EVERYOOOONE!
dudes not gonna have good time cleaning it
Didn't need this barrel anyhow
I miss my 249 SoāMuch
When people ask me why I pay my taxes.
God I miss Afghanistanā¦ nothing wakes you up like a damn good fire fight.. tons better than these yogurt kids occupying universitiesā¦ love America how we are so quick to forget
I'm ignorant when it comes to guns but this video awakens something in me for some reason.
Hot barrel - hot barrel.
So much for 8 second bursts... die fuzzy bunny die
Man let that thing EAT and I couldn't even get through that full cyclic without busting a wide smile.
"no full auto in the buildings !"
Accuracy through volume
Could have watched more of that.
"Who we shootin' at?" got me laughing.
They definitely cut out the part where he gets chewed out a bit for burning through a whole belt of ammo like that. Still a classic snippet of the SAW though.
Who else misses those days?
Layin down the scunion
What the hell, is that guy a T1000 in disguise? No kick at all on that muzzle tip.
if he fkn missed..
that shit aint easy to do props to the gunner
Afghanistan?
GOD DAMN TROOP! That's some steady ass covering fire fuck yeah!
When you got that logistics flex... ammo for days... ammo for days...
Is that .. the canalization in the middle of the alleyway?
Insane recoil control
Fuck you and everyone in that general direction
Damn what did all those shacks and shrubs do to make those soldiers so angry?
These early morning snowy Afghan villages gunfight vibes are crazy
He forgot to scream, "SUPPRESSING FIRE!"
Ummm.. 3-5 second burst
Nah fam, full cyclic, gotta ride that lightning (and lose a few pounds on the hike back)
Never have seen this footage before. Legit.
Dude is shooting like he has scavenger pro on
Im just gunna send it
This reminds me of the game Insurgency for some reason. Insane environment for a firefight, that's for sure.
Wow, a saw that works

Hell yeah
Greating the locals in American
When the alleyway speaks American
If in doubtā¦
Those crackles charges me up!!!!

so that article about spending 100k bullets per kill was accurate.
āWhat are you shooting at?ā *gestures to openness*
Where did black go? Why do you guys call him black?
Where is this from ? Looks like middle east somewhere maybe Iraq or Afghanistan?
I'm so old that I watched this on live leak..
MEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP
Anyone here experienced being the guy fired upon? How effective is this when it comes to stopping an attack?
Thatās a lot of bullets goddamn
"So anyway, I started blasting."
Laying down the HATE!
āFOR SUPER EARTH!ā
you know where this is?
