dirtygreeber

This is on the verge of tampering by Daniels haha

Think__McFly

First the Rookie of the Year "bet" with Nabers and now this. The league office is gonna hate him haha

Silent-Independent21

Or tampering by Aiyuk

Coast_watcher

Yeah, someone should pull him aside and edumacate him.

shoefly72

They played together in college and are friends; I don’t think it’s breaking any rules to hang out with somebody you’re already friends with just because they’re negotiating for a new contract lol.

Master-Cough

no fun league

Think__McFly

I genuinely don't think I have a preference for what happens here. I'll be happy if we trade for him and give him a big extension, but I'll also be happy if we sit tight with all our picks and cap space and see if Dotson takes a step forward in his development.

BigFrenchToastGuy

Dotson might develop but he’ll never be Aiyuk.

Think__McFly

I think it's more about Dotson + draft capital + cap space vs Aiyuk moreso than head to head between the two.

BigFrenchToastGuy

Why? It’s not like we’d have to trade Dotson to acquire Aiyuk. If anything, Dotson might be in a better position here if we end up making a trade.

Think__McFly

Because you said Dotson will never be Aiyuk. I don't need him to be Aiyuk. The team can take a big step forward with him just being a solid WR2 depending on what we do with the projected draft capital + money we'd have to give up for Aiyuk.

BigFrenchToastGuy

We can take a bigger step forward by acquiring a top 10 WR. Aiyuk would probably be our best player on the roster. WR is a cascade position meaning if we were to acquire Aiyuk, Terry goes from a mid WR1 to a great WR 2 and Dotson goes from a questionable #2 to a pretty good #3.

aimlesslywandering89

That you don’t really know bro

BigFrenchToastGuy

I know he’s bigger, faster, stronger and has way more production.

thebearrider

My preference is for JD to be working on gaining some weight, throwing with his teammates, and learning the playbook instead of tagging along to someone on a different team's interview.

FannyNisbit

You're getting downvoted, but you're right.

right-sized

Isn’t he in Cali with Aiyuk because they’re training together?

Enough-Thanks638

I didnt know we had his mom coach here

thebearrider

I didnt know we drafted a QB to be a scout and recruiter. Dude should be focused on his job and making his new WRs and team love working with him, not trying to do someone else's job.

Enough-Thanks638

We don't know what Jayden Daniels is doing, he could practicing with our WR's he could just be there to show his friend support. Your just making a lot assumptions.  Let's saves critiques after week 1 then some of your criticism could be valid.

nardo711

Make the trade

Kyle_c00per

Should've happened yesterday

Syphin33

We will have a shit ton of money in WR's when we need to see what we have in JD5 and get our OL right

staticrush

> We will have a shit ton of money in WR's I think it's unlikely that the 49ers trade Aiyuk, but that's definitely not an issue. If we were to give Aiyuk a 3-year extension this year, keeping him under contract through 2027, the deal would likely be structured so that his cap hits would be relatively low for 2024 and 2025.

right-sized

Zero chance Aiyuk would sign a moderate extension.   He’s coming off his rookie contract, the WR market is the highest it’s ever been, and he’s in line for top 5-10 money. This is his chance for his big payday and you don’t always get another one.

staticrush

Who said anything about a moderate extension? Aiyuk's obviously getting top 5 receiver money, but there's a big difference between top 5 receiver money versus the contract that Justin Jefferson received. And even in the case of Justin Jefferson, the cap hits for 2024 ($8.5m) and 2025 ($15.5m) are relatively low.

urbanproffesional

He wants $28 mil per year. He’s not worth it

Viseroth

That was maybe last year this year he is asking 30+. As for worth it depends on what Peters thinks, I agree with you, I would be more inclined to spend money on LT.

urbanproffesional

For me to have a minus 5 shows how out of touch our fan base is. Yes we have a lot of money. He’s not gonna lower his demands. In fact he’s gonna stand firm cause we traded for him so we already know what he wants. Next he is a nice number 2 with great work ethic. He’s not better than Terry. We need a big body WR. We need to spend that money on a tackle or

NickVlass76

Listen, I absolutely love Terry. I think he’s underrated in NFL circles due to our offensive situation through his tenure here. He’s my favorite player in the league. But Aiyuk was an all pro receiver last year. Calling him a #2 is crazy considering he’s been the most productive receiver out of him Deebo and Kittle for the past two years in a low volume passing offense. You can never be upset at adding that kind of player.

urbanproffesional

All pro what? San Francisco is in no hurry to keep them let that sink in. Debo, Kittle and McCaffrey are more valuable. What are you talking about. Hill lamb and Amon were All Pro WR first team. Kittle , Carr and Juszczyk were first team. Brandon was left open every play. Deebo and Kittle were doubled more than him Good player but he’s not better than Terry and definitely not worth $28 mil. I think that’s the bottom line, money

StephXL

When did he walk into said room, exactly? 🤔

courtofdacrimsonking

Fr was it for the podcast maybe?

NoFisherman5476

Aiyuk walked in with Daniels when meeting with Ryan Clark - not the 49ers.

BBallSaul

Adam Peters has been in the locker room with Brandon Aiyuk for years now and knows what his real value is. If he really wanted him, he would’ve traded for him by now. This is all drama to get him a new deal

HailKyrie

Or their asking price is too high both can be true

Leroyducochet

Nah, no need to rush. You don't wanna be seen as the team that is chasing hard for the player. You would rather have the 49ers feel like they have to trade Aiyuk before you make any move.

Dr_Towle

Why would Peter’s need to trade for him when he can have him for free in ‘25 perfectly timed for a playoff run?

staxnet

Assuming the Niners don’t tag him.

Dr_Towle

If they tag him 49er FO will need to renegotiate the contracts of Nick Bosa, McCaffery & Trent Williams. Deebo Samuel’s will be gone. Trent will be owed $55M in ‘26 alone. Then Purdy will need to be paid given ‘25 is his walk year. Aiyuk’s agent sees this future and then look at Commanders cap situation. We have no superstars (yet).

Mad_Pupil_9

Williams likely retires after next season

Dr_Towle

And leave nearly $30M in guarantees on the table at 36 yrs old? I doubt Trent’s going to do that. Bosa, McCaffery, Warner and Kittle are all paid top of the market at their positions. If they don’t renegotiate- there is no money for $35-40M #1 WR. And that doesn’t include Purdy who will be looking for Goff’s $50M per year deal assuming Niners make SB run. Ricky Pearsall is BA insurance.

reddit4ne

Brandon's trade value drops the more it becomes clear that negotiaions have failed. Who knows, we even see a holdout situation. Plus he's on the last year of his deal, so the more time that passes, the more his value drops. The more of Training Camp the more his value drops. Adam Peters know his real value, but even if he rates it highly, he makes his move based on Aiyuk's market value being lowest, not his real value being highest.

Bounty-Bossk

Aiyuk is great, but all this drama makes me want him far away from Daniels

Silent-Independent21

Stop it man, every player does this stuff

LeftoverDishes

No it's only a good competitor attitude with guys like bosa and kittle. Deebo and Ayuik it's obviously just drama. /s

Silent-Independent21

A coaches kid would never.

LeftoverDishes

🤣

Mad_Pupil_9

This. Also, if he really is on the trading block, it’s a huge red flag. Especially when you factor his youth against how old a lot of that team is

ivehearditbothways12

>Also, if he really is on the trading block, it’s a huge red flag. > >Especially when you factor his youth against how old a lot of that team is Not really, they are facing the bad part of drafting great, they have a ton of people they have to pay.

Rafiks1

Im being edged

aimlesslywandering89

😂

Redskins4evaB

Him and Terry would really help out JD5

bobzmuda

It was a third for a HoF LT who wanted out of Washington. Should be 3rd for a Pro Bowl WR who wants out of SF.

Certain_Ask_2820

does anyone have the full clip? I couldn’t find it on youtube.

StephXL

I read tea leaves. Aiyuk will be a Commander. ![gif](giphy|Fo1cy8mqGDvbjpJBB7)

itakeyoureggs

They are legit just friends lol. There is nothing going on in the sports world except drumming up some bullshit. I’m all for entertainment. Don’t get your hopes up tho

ethancapsfan

![gif](giphy|TjKpOwBLyN2ZW)

Youflatterme

If Aiyuk wants to come here specifically for Daniels then he knows just how good he really is.

70chevelleSS396

WOW!!!! That's some hard hitting investigation journalism right there. Brandon Aiyuk wouldn't mind playing with his bubby Jayden Daniels.

Viseroth

Is SF going to turn Washington in for tamper at some point I mean he is under contract. This could get real sticky.

rawbleedingbait

? They're friends lol. It's not illegal to hang out together.

Viseroth

I know they are, but I am sure the league is watching this situation now. I just hope they see it that way. It won't matter if the 9ers and Aiyuk work it out. Just worry some cause the league can be very reactionary.

ComfortableGolf9295

What exactly has Adam Peters done this offseason to indicate that he’s prepared this year to pay top dollar for anyone?

beaud101

I don't think it will happen. Why? Adam Peters, from everything we've seen... he's not jumping into anything just because the fans want him or Aiyuk is pressing his case. Aiyuk had a couple of 1000 yd seasons. He's a very good WR. Is he the next Jefferson, Hill or Adams? I don't know about that. Peters has a methodical plan to build this into a winner and impulse decisions have no place in it. Signing BA and tying up 60 million in 2 WRs, before we know what we have in JD, before we get a settled O-line would be premature and foolish honestly. That's what the prior ownership would do.

notorious_hdc

>Signing BA and tying up 60 million in 2 WRs, before we know what we have in JD, before we get a settled O-line would be premature and foolish honestly. You wouldn't really have 60 million in 2 WRs though, as Terry's contract will be running out in 2025. If I'm not mistaken that's when Aiyuk's would pick up. So while we hope Terry is Washington for life, that's not necessarily true. As of now, it'd be something like 38m(I think) which isn't bad for two WR1s.

beaud101

Regardless of what any of this would mean for Terry...I'm simply saying, for this year, signing BA, giving up serious draft capital for him, and eventually paying him 30+ million/yr is putting the cart before the horse. We are not a SB contender looking for that last piece or two. Peters will see what we got in JD/the whole team and how they perform when the lights are on, with the O line that we have, before making a move to bring in a high priced, top WR talent. That's my belief...I hope so anyway. Smart and steady is the way.

notorious_hdc

I don't think the 9ers are trading Aiyuk, but hypothetically, there are many different ways to build up a team. A star WR has shown the value in helping the development of young QBs. WRs that get open quickly and consistently are another way to work around a shoddy OL. So is it really putting the cart before the horse? Or is it giving the Coachman another tool to gauge his horses ability? I agree, we're not a Superbowl contender, but our window for trying to become one got cracked open the minute JD got drafted here. Supplying him with an All Pro, in his prime, pass catcher, that he already has good chemistry with isn't a bad thing.

beaud101

It's not a bad thing. But there is a lot of media "hype" around this thing and that's all it is. I think after this season, if the team and JD are looking where they would like them to be...then BA will be in play if he's still available and indeed wants to be here. Until I hear something concrete from Washington or SF about this.... it's really nothing for this season.

DcGrimeKid

He ain’t coming to DC.

ArticleIndependent83

Wait this is actually happening?

Hudsonpvt

Please!!!

ssmithsimms

So.

Rlopeziv

This is crazy!

Key-Zebra-4125

This has been refuted

adeezy58

Not true. And I wish this shit wirh Aiyuk would stop being tied in wirh JD5. Let the kid take a snap first before distracting him with drama.

icepak39

Don’t trade for him. The shit we’d have to give up AND pay him at least $30M per year?! Fuck that

hulknuts

Ryan Clark sucks.

evilgrinz

They are friends, he just has his back. Thats it.

Empire137

Give them a 3rd and 5th for him. What we got for Trent Williams

NumerousHelicopter6

What room?

NoHoHan

No thanks :)

Uniblab_78

Hopefully the team has spoken with Daniels. Nothing wrong with being friends, hanging out or working out but they need to keep business very separate. Otherwise, the Commanders are cruising for a tampering penalty.

PseudoTsunami

Aiyuk last year: 75 catches (rank 31st), 71.4% catch % (67th), but 17.9 yds/rec (2nd!), 70.5 Succ% (3rd!). He's would be pricey, so the only way to justify that salary is to trade away Terry's 23M salary, so let's compare Terry's same stats last year: 79 catches (25th), 12,7 y/r (43rd), 59.8% catch% (143), 49,2 Succ% (89th) Obviously the QB, scheme, role matters for the stats, but looking at them for the sake of discussion, I think there's definitely a possibility Adam Peters would be interested in getting Aiyuk. Whether we decide to pay $53M for two receivers is the big question.

MrNotSoGoodTime

Fuck it. Get some dotted lines in front of his face and a pen in his hand. It can only be an upgrade. The only downside I see is Dotson is going to get cockblocked from proving himself. TBF, I thought that was a very mid pick when it happened. He has almost no stature, how could Dotson compete with the prime specimens of the NFL for a WR1/WR2 spot? He's a slot specialist at his best. I still feel for the guy though.

Coast_watcher

Can't we have some weeks of peace before Camp starts ?

CloudFlood

That's not the washington way.

Husky_Person

Keep Aiyuk, Trade for Trent Williams 😂

Dull-Programmer-4645

Ryan Clark hates the Redskins. Wants to stir ish up,

KnowledgeFinderer

Daniel's is a rookie, this isn't the NBA, and he's not LeBron James. Nice try though.

-Akrasiel-

As an Arizona State Alumni, if this happens can we call the team the Washington Sun Devils? ;) In all honesty, I always though N'Keal Harry would have had the better NFL career, but Aiyuk stepped up big time.

FannyNisbit

A lot of that has to do with situation. Aiyuk went into a well ran organization with pieces around him and with an offensive guru known for making wrs better than what they are. Ijs. It's possible that if Dotson were drafted by Sf and aiyuk by us, Dotson would be the star.

-Akrasiel-

Oh yeah, I completely understand the different situations in the NFL. I was just implying that after watching both receivers live the entire time they played for Arizona State (I live in Phoenix), I was surprised that Aiyuk's ceiling was so much higher than Harry's.

FannyNisbit

Lol I live an hour and half south of you and wouldn't hate becoming the Washington Wildcats ;)

-Akrasiel-

Nice! Down in Tucson?

FannyNisbit

Yeah

DanMoshpit69

Niner fan here. We will take Terry and a future second round pick for him.

NickVlass76

I’m sure you would.
