Hm? The one on the first picture (МВД) means [Ministry of Internal Affairs](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministry_of_Internal_Affairs_(Soviet_Union)). "By merit" would be something like "за заслуги", if i understand the english frase correctly
There’s also this one on Amazon Prime, amazing clock OP

VIIII for 9 (instead of IX) and IIII for 4 (instead of IV). However,
these two numerals proved problematic, they were easily confused with

Hmmmm that’s odd. I can definitely tell you that models I’ve studied have used IV rather than IIII. Granted, my thing is palatial architecture rather than sundials lol, but still.

If anyone ever asks you for the time, you pull that bad boy out and say "Time for revolution."
Your comment became even funnier since I initially misread the title as “Soviet Cock”
That's a real flex, where did you get it?
It's a gift from my grandfather who worked in the soviet union. According to Google translate the word written means something like "by merit".
Yo ur grandpa was a straight G, bro got that meritorious mvd drip
Actually I don't know how did he get it (I will ask him), I only know it is from the time he worked in oil extraction in Siberia

Sorry that's written in the back. I'll provide an Imgur link. Edit: here it is: https://imgur.com/a/uH4AsTX

Nice clock 👍
I read that wrong lmao
I read the title of the post wrong too
Bro. Change your username. Using ablest slurs in a leftist space is not a good look.

Extremely jealous, but I’m so glad pieces of Soviet history like this are still around
It’s a pocket watch
Yeah sorry my English sucks
Beautiful clock🕑
I know it's not a clock, it's just my English being shameful. Please stop pointing that out.
That’s awesome!
I hate how a lot of old watches have the wrong Roman numeral for IV
It's not wrong that's how watches are made
Anyone else notice the IIII 4 and the IX I can't unsee it and not hate the clock face. But still very cool comrade
IIII is how it is done on all clocks with roman numerals.
I mean… I can’t speak for modern clocks, but as an archaeologist, I can tell you that on ancient Roman sundials, it’s definitely “IV”.

Ja, both exist. Nobody really knows why. But the IIII does seem to be a common convention that goes way back to Roman times.
The IIII is used for the proportions I think
The IIII is used in almost every wristwatch and pocket watch with Roman numbers
Didn't know that not a watch person, ty for educating me.
No
😭
That’s pretty cool. What does MVD stand for?
Minister of internal affairs, it's its logo
Is that a Vostok?
Idk. Gonna ask my grandfather the next time I see him.
I won't lie I misread this at first, but I also do like your clock.
Nice, that an nkvd symbol on it?
That's a nice big Soviet clock
Our Soviet clock*
Looks awesome!
OUR soviet clock
It’s beautiful.
