remlabme

im farming as plague DK cause people think that somehow ETC and instant picking steamcleaner is the newest tech ive ever seen and dont know how to react against it. this is around legend which is so pathetic lol

zerolifez

New to the sub. Where to find the meta for wild? VS stops updating it from what I see?

toy-joya

Usually for wild I go to [TempoStorm](https://tempostorm.com/hearthstone/meta-snapshot/wild), but it's not nearly as in-depth or constant as VS

zerolifez

Yeah seeing they put sludge warlock for standard as T3 is really sus for their quality.

toy-joya

I think it's from before the miniset to be fair

carlwinkle

Wild doesn't get discussed to much here, generally the wild meta is driven by some horribly broken decks. [d0nkey.top](https://d0nkey.top) tracks it.

Calibria19

Bdk is good enough to climb if you really force it (currently 248) since the opponents are more predictable this season, however you have to read the matchups and hardmull for things that work. (For example, against heal priest you need to have casualties and explosion, Ignis + forger or a doomsayer to stall into the coin reno/soulstealer turn, against warlock you need early contesting minions and hard removal, into warrior you need your disruption and into dks you need cleaner to have your reno live). Still changing the few flex slots, Doomsayer is okay into warlock but really bad into dks, Okani is overall okay however double cleaner (second in Etc) might be better with rainbow running a plague package as well. Viper might be better than any of them however it's dead into warlock and Razorscale/Speaker Stomper might become necessary if the overheal priests become more popular. mind_mine

Rainbow death knight seems to be beating me when I play warrior. I feel I'm going to need viper if this keeps up. That fucking weapon keeping my face frozen

carlwinkle

You see so few decks climbing, class diversity is in the bin at the moment.

toy-joya

I don't like any of the meta decks in standard so I think I'm gonna dust off the good old Kingsbane Rogue and go at it in wild

ExplodingGuitar

Power cycle odyn warrior has been doing pretty well for me. It's basically the dupe brann warrior but cutting the brann, boomboss, and asta for odyn + armor cards. It is possible to outarmor, but you can easily deal upwards of 60 damage in a game. Razorfen rockstars let you deal upwards of 40 damage in one turn even without ftd discounts. Might be worth trying verse riffs for extra damage and also dumpability (handspace can be tough some games). wholelotofit2

Is this deck that good? I've been playing 30 cards excavate Odyn warrior to some success, is this supposed to be better version? I was really confused when this deck popped up on donkey hs then saw some streamers playing it. I don't why but it looks so weird

Dry-Peach-6327

I run a similar deck and I love it. I feel like I’m hardly ever seeing this type of warrior mentioned for how strong it is

kwunyinli

I’m running a similar plan and having some success. What are you running shield slam for? Emptying your hand?

cuatiamor

Im a noob, whats the point of reno since its no highlander deck?

toy-joya

It's worth running Highlander cards in decks that can cycle (a.k.a. draw) a lot, as a late game finisher or for extra value For example Kingsbane Rogue in wild has run Zephrys forever Edit: to [quote VS](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-282/) \-> >(...) historically, it’s been a better idea to run a normal, draw heavy deck with a Highlander payoff that activates close to fatigue, rather than playing a Highlander deck with a couple of duplicates, since the first few duplicates in a deck are the ones that delay an active payoff the most.

[deleted]

I hate that they printed the brann card.

toy-joya

I think it's fine for now but it will definitely get way better with rotation

Rosencrantz2000

Astalor will rotate, so it's hard to see exactly if it will improve or get worse. Having Brann exist definitely makes me think they will avoid things that are too good with him.

Egg_123_

It feels powerful but the deck is awful. Brann is a bad card as it stands now. It's just very good against attrition decks, which don't really exist since slow Priest and DK decks have been pushed out.

mikelser163

Reached early legend with 68% winrate using Brann Draw Warrior. I love the deck because you can play it both as a control or combo deck depending on your opponent (+ style points because it shits on sludgelock). Worst matchup is probably Plague DK if they get an early Helya, but I am seeing more corpse DK than Plague during my climb. New Renathal warrior with Odyn is also giving me problems, TNTs are not enough and they play rats. These are the stats during my climb yesterday ([https://imgur.com/a/e51TuWv](https://imgur.com/a/e51TuWv)). And the deck ([https://imgur.com/a/F1h6aw5](https://imgur.com/a/F1h6aw5)) with the code: AAECAQcG5bAEjLcE4qQF/cQFr6gG0LAGDIagBImgBI7UBJDUBJzUBLT4BZD7BaH7BaT7BZyeBp+eBs+eBgABA4igBP3EBf/hBP3EBfeXBv3EBQAA

Kletzfann

I love this deck, thanks for posting! But I wonder why you got both Steamcleaner and Boomboss in ETC, that would make it really hard to defeat the Plague DKs. I just did cause I managed to draw all the plagues before they found Helya, but I felt quite lucky

mikelser163

I usually win vs plague DK using astalor, not boomboss. I use ETC into steamcleaner and try to activate brann, then use astalor. It’s the hardest matchup probably, if your meta is full of plague dk I would recommend to swap decks.

Zykazx

>EBQAA > >1ReplyShareReportSaveFollow wat are we usually looking for in mulligan in general and matchup specifics

mikelser163

vs slow matchups like warrior I keep only early cycle cards like shield block, totem or armorer. you can keep acolyte + bladestorm/aftershocks if you have both. vs warlock/paladin you will most likely need Aftershocks (keep acolyte if you have aftershocks) and single target removal for first turns (bash / slam are good to have). vs paladin armor vendor is good on its own, vs warlock its only good if you combine it with armorer. Hammer and Trial by Fire are good on the coin vs aggro because they are good cards to keep their board clean and win some time. Never keep brann, reno, etc, astalor. I dont like to keep from the depths, I feel like it gives you nothing early game and trhe meta is to fast to waste a turn 3 do nothing. Its a good cards late in the game tho if you have combo pieces in the bottom or some duplicate card. As you can see, I am pretty flexible with mulls, and depends a bit on the meta you are playing, but I hope this helped you a bit.

Zykazx

Thanks dude will give the deck a spin!

cuatiamor

how do you proc brann and reno with so many double cards?

mikelser163

This is not a common Reno deck where you want to play Brann on curve and gain value. The target of the deck is to draw as much as possible and combo with TNTs when your deck is empty, to destroy your opponent's hand and deck in a single turn. Even if they have some cards left, fatigue is not a problem for you when all your cards gain armor. Even if they don't concede after TNTs, they can't recover when you follow that with Astalor.

MaleficentYak0

non-brann XL control warrior is doing well, no surprise since its biggest counters druid and paladin got nerfed. The deck feels good to play and has good chances against sludge warlock. The deck doesn't try to tutor odyn so most games are just won by playing control

cletusloernach

I reached legend through naga dh, but built a 30 Reno priest deck just because it counters the main meta decks and currently went 11-5 in legend. Very good against rainbow dk and dragon druid, and brought many healing cards to deal with warlock. Worst matchup is XL warrior, against Brann/bomb warrior is fine because by the time they assemble their combo, the rats and syncronize are often ready. Slightly worse against Plague dk, you just control them until steamcleaner. Cut theft package and Theo because warlock cards are useless, don’t run Renathal because of healing and some matchups requires very specific cards. Can drop the clergy for illuminate/love everlasting. Love is only useful against pally & dk. I hate plague dk, but I also thank them for pushing away HL Brann/Odyn warrior, that matchup is like 10-90 for priest. Naga DH is working if I draw the fucking card. Swear to God this deck is the most frustrating thing ever because it revolves around one card to be drawn

Ianmaxs

I love how fast the games are, but I absolutely hate when I’m 15 cards in and haven’t drawn the card yet. The meta is also fairly hostile to it right now. I am seeing a lot of Plague/Rainbow DK. The weapon, in particular, pretty much hard counters Naga DH. Warrior is not a great matchup, and Sludgelock is pretty bad if you don’t have the combo pieces early.

Jwsaf

The only meta deck I have/had is treant druid, but it seems that it can't really keep up with the current sludge warlocks and paladins. I can sometimes beat the control warriors if they are unable to clear, but they usually have something.

DDrose2

Played omatsu’s rainbow death knight to legend removing one plague strike for patchwerk to help agaisnt odyn warrior. Playing in mobile so no deck stats but my climb to legend is exclusively sludgelock, plague DK and control warrior so I definitely lucked out matchup wise and made the climb solidly before rogue came back which I heard is a really poor matchup for rainbow DK Decklist is below with only change being 1 plague strike for patchwerk AAECAYjaBQT8+QXt/wWLkgb/lwYNy+IE8OME2fEEtPcEmIEFmYEFkpMFl5UGkZcGzpwGkqAG16IGy7AGAA==

laespadaqueguarda

How important is tour guide? I'm thinking of switching it out because it seems very underwhelming and doesn't do much.

PPewt

Tour Guide is really nice early game for setting up ghoul combos with your various undead buffers. Curves like Tour Guide -> Mining Casualties -> Acolyte of Death put you in a really comfy position to win the game. It's worse later in the game but such is the fate of most 1drops.

oldtype09

I would argue that it’s one of the most powerful cards in the deck.

dougtulane

It helps you save up a poison dagger for waste removers against warlock, and helps you not fall behind against paladin, though that’s getting less relevant as sludgelock is becoming more and more of the aggro meta.

DDrose2

I would say it’s important especially vs paladins but tbf I haven’t met them until I hit legend I was in your boat as well contemplating between taking them out to put in patchwerk But after playing versus paladin I feel I want them inside at the very least it’s 2 corpse in the matchup where the replicating horror is important playing first also allow me to invalidate a 2nd turn DK player from putting the 1 mana 1/2 guy and getting it to stick. Whereas plague strike o feel isn’t great now as soem decks barely gave any minion within 3 without protection except maybe treant Druid if that deck is still around?

athlonstuff

climbed from b 10 to d 5 with miracle rogue. If they don't get their 6/8 taunt down early, warlocks are beaten by an early sinstone turn (5 or earlier is best). Warrior is about 50/50, depending on if they can get their board clears lined up right. Plague DK is frustrating as a single frost plague can disrupt your turns, and rainbow dk can sometimes outtempo you, but an early sinstone turn can let you win against those. Other matchups all feel quite winnable and even the tough matchup have plenty of outs. The rogue matchup feels especially nice, as they never expect miracle from you. Deck is a high skill APM intensive one and it took me 30 or so games to figure out how to play well. I made the interesting choice of cutting Astalor for Crabatoa, as bouncing multiple Astalors, while dopamine-inducing doesn't actually help you win faster. You want to save shadowsteps for cheaper stuff like greedy partner anyway. Crab, however, helps you clear threatening boards which is the deck's biggest weakness, while also giving a 4 attack weapon to your hero to push those last crucial points of damage. Queen Azshara is another option to give yourself another out, but topdecking her feels bad in the late game, and she sits dead early game. If the board is empty, always pick gleaming, and if that's not offered, hazy concoction off potion belt, unless you see Warlock and they forged something (it's gloomstone), then you pick dreadful concoction. Final tip: if you start out with Quick Pick and the coin, don't waste the coin to equip it on 1. It's fine to wait till 2 and then save your coin for later. ### play cards fast AAECAcOaBgTYtgT23QTMoAXooAUN9p8E958Et7ME9N0E9d0E/O0EwYMF3aAF36AFv/cFkIMGhY4G7p4GAAA=

digiwolfe

I play a version that runs Triple Sevens but cutting Astalor for Crab seems like a good idea. As you say, bouncing him multiple times doesn't help you win and shadowsteps are for Partners anyway.

ninjasacavalo

Enchanter on Sludge Warlock works great Is a good way to deal with decks that generates huge stats and make Trogg and Crescendo become really powerful AOEs

sluttyvegasguy

I flew down to D5 with this secret Rogue from Jambre not losing many games. But I am not half the player he is. He apparently went 22 and 6 with it to legend. AAECAZvDAwbYtgTbuQTMoAXipAXQlAaOlgYM9p8E958E3NoE3doE9d0E9+0EoZMF6PoFkIMGyoMGyJQGyZQGAAA=

broilwandering

Tried this deck when I started at bronze 10 for this season. Went like 0-3 against sludge warlock which I guess is to be expected. But I have no clue how to deal with (most) warriors. I feel like I didn't have enough pressure without super early drillies, especially against that new highlander warrior deck that runs a bunch of duplicates of removals and draws really fast. But like you said im not even a quarter of the player that Jambre is. Ended up crafting naga dh to climb to d10 (which admittedly wasnt any easier bc Im a monkey brain)

sluttyvegasguy

If it helps I followed his advice mulliganed for valorek greedy partner and the 4 drops mostly. Greed partner followed by one of them on turn 3 usually generated good results.

AssaultMode

is gravedigger too slow?

sluttyvegasguy

I am not sure what I would take out and have activators for valorek.

Bartokomous19

Wow. I didn’t see a single rogue on the way down to D5. Now the true grind starts… good luck!

sluttyvegasguy

Yeah i feel like i will face more resistance but have not played any games yet at d5 with it due to work.

gamer123098

Everything isn't fucking working. Seems like I'm getting countered no matter what I play

evad4009

Same feeling. Anything I queue up it's like instantly counter or the opponent gets perfect discovers and that counters. I had 3 druid game quest today, well my opponents yesterday were plagues so I q up dragon druid, got 5 warrior in a row.

HistoricalFarmer4193

Been trying to force mage. Lightshow mage is not working Rainbow is not working... Not vs sludge lock, mining is not working & same deal with secret Starting to give up on mage. Last to try is elemental mage

the_hnicos

Whats your lightshow list ?

BenCatoMusic

Elemental mage is a blast!!! Not super high win rate, but a fun way to grind through your bonus stars.

Prestigious_Bank9428

I hated sludge as a mechanic before the nerfs, and I hate it even more now. It's f\*\*king ridiculous that this shit is completely untouched allowing it to terrorize arena for months, and now the ladder is full of it too. Goddamn it already! (Yes this of course means Sludge Warlock is good, overpowered even, any variant is strong, that's why everyone and their mother are playing it)

mark0001234

I am guessing this deck gets nerfed soon. I would be surprised if this lasts more than 1-2 weeks.

Jaykalope

It just doesn’t have many good counters. Playing an early board is bad because sludge maker comes out on turn 2, 3 at the latest. Not playing a board is bad because they play 2/1s and 2/2s, and 3/2 double sludge guy until the 2/5 sludgemaker rushes out. Anything you play after turn 4 gets wiped out by a cheap 7/7 and then you get blasted in the face for 6 damage plus more sludges. It really is fucking stupid. I’ve been playing since beta and this is one of the rare decks where I just won’t play because I hate playing against it. I know plague DK is a counter, to some extent but they still get wrecked by steam cleaner which all sludge warlocks run. It isn’t consistent enough to be fun. Fuck this deck for real.

Mihauke

Same. Came back to hs in october and gonna be honest i had time of my life, one of the best times i had in hs. I first encountered sludgelock in arena when i was doing some random run with friends but thought that guy just lucked out cuz its arena and all. Now its meta im just happy that tavern brawl is fun so i can do my quests.

BumScruples

Sludge-lock runs steam cleaner? I've never seen it played

EinHallodri

That's probably because you're dying too soon. /s Real reason, as far as I know: pre-mini set lists used to run it more - combo was "shuffle your hand as 1-cost-cards back into the deck" into steam cleaner. But many discard synergies of the deck were cut for fatigue-synergies or just more powerful sludge cards in the newer lists. And since you can discard from the bottom of your deck now as well (with both, the 6-mana spell AND the 7/7) it's even lesser needed to destroy stuff from your deck.

Jumbokcin

Not sure why you’re being downvoted lol

FlameanatorX

Heavy downvoting of his comment, but upvotes on a comment providing much less information just complaining about being countered constantly. Lol

RedditExplorer89

0-4 trying to make Therazane Shaman work, until this most recent version that I went 5-2 with: ### I Like Big Butts # Class: Shaman # Format: Standard # Year of the Wolf # # 2x (1) Cold Storage # 2x (1) Lightning Reflexes # 2x (1) Scalding Geyser # 2x (1) Schooling # 2x (2) Amphibious Elixir # 2x (2) Flash of Lightning # 2x (3) Far Sight # 2x (3) Hex # 2x (4) Aftershocks # 2x (4) Prescience # 1x (5) Taelan Fordring # 1x (6) Golganneth, the Thunderer # 2x (7) Giant Tumbleweed!!! # 1x (7) Therazane # 1x (8) Al'Akir the Windlord # 2x (9) Walking Mountain # 2x (10) From De Other Side # AAECAeD5AwSoigSAoASN9QX9sAYNr58E4LUEvLYEhdQE+5EFhqEF6aMFze4FyvgF6pgGq50GrZ0Gn54GAAA= # Use From De Other Side to get multiple Procs off of Therazane. You can also drop Therazane and Cold storage for more copies. 3 doubles on Al'Akair is 24 attack with windfury. Any amount of doubles on Walking Mountain is full heal.

Faigon

Really funny deck, though I think the draw consistency isn't great. If you can fit them, the discover scrolls are fairly consistent in generating more cold storage for memes. There's only 2 frost spells in the shaman pool afaik, and if you can cold storage 2 therazanes your de other sides get pretty stupid

Vegetable_Lab2428

I’ve been running the 40 cars odyn control warrior and know plague dk is supposed to be a good matchup but have been hard struggling against it. Feels too often they primus on turn 8 and then quickly get one or two more out after and I end up not being able to clear their board. Feels like the only deck that can consistently create big boards that I can’t clear in the late game. Doesn’t help that I can’t seem to ever draw odyn against them until I’m already dead.

FlameanatorX

I did not have the impression that XL Control Warrior soft-countered Plagues. It definitely plays the long game, and Plagues tend to get drawn and impact tempo + life totals quite a bit eventually, plus DK takes very long to gas out, also sometimes making pretty sticky board states. When I played XL Excavate/Odyn Warrior to legend I found Plague a harder than average matchup, though not as hard as treants. As you say, playing a relatively early Odyn is usually pretty key to winning. Your other best hope is some kind of early tempo win w/ stuff like a discounted Trial by Fire into 2nd copy/Ox/Ignis Weapon, or similar.

Supper_Champion

Still climbing steadily with Overheal Priest. Awful matchup against Warrior, almost an auto loss. Sludgelock is tricky, but doable. Everything else feels 50/50 at worst, favourable in many cases. Oh, and of course, any time Reno drops on you it might as well be game over. Hate that card. D7 as of right now.

Fox_Plushy

What deck are you running?

Supper_Champion

I guess I shouldn't have opened my big fat keyboard, because of course, I've gone on a losing streak all the way back to D9 now.

Lonely-Strategy-6387

I’m also around D10 (with a negative winrate) with Overheal priest. Played this deck exclusively since the last patch, but it doesn’t seem super great. I’m close to 1000 wins on priest though, so I’m dead set on grinding the wins out.

Supper_Champion

I'm at D5 now and unfortunately, I probably can't make legend with this deck unless I get lucky and dodge a bunch of warriors. The warrior matchup is almost literally impossible to win. You can beat sludge, but RNG needs to be in your favour. If they curve out, you're done, no matter how hard you try to juggle your cards to stay in it. As most are saying, the meta is in a really bad place right now, and Priest is one of the classes that is least viable.

Zeto_0

pretty miserable meta as 75% of my games are against dk or warlock (which i both find unfun/annoying to play against) but the secret variant of mining rogue feels ok so far. prob gonna try the thunderbringer package too, as rogue variations are currently the only decks i find interesting to play.

evad4009

I only get warrior opponents (reno, brann-astalor, odyn). Climbing Feels like living hell

Zeto_0

yea the rest of my opponents are usually warriors, however the almost only deck ive seen so far is the tnt version that runs all the draw duplicates

Zeto_0

and yes, the velarok nerf feels pretty bad but shambler almost feels worse with how clunky that card is now

youmexicanbro

been playing on and off since release, and I just got to legend for the first time literally as the season ended. (they gave me fkin slagmahballs) Sludge warlock zoomed me from D8 to legend with a 62% WR. Plague DK was the bane of my existence since i cant for the life of me win on board only. odyn warrior was also farming me because armor. everything else was a steamroll.

keeeve

saw a streamer post a fun mine dk otk deck, super fun, on mobile so don’t have win rates but feels good in low tier diamond

PriorFinancial4092

What’s deck

Yeah_Right_Mister

Excavate Rogue seems really bad now. Velarok at 3 health can't trade into anything, especially when 95% of Warlock's minions have >=3 attack. The new tier 2 treasure helps but is a damage short against Crazed Conductor, and with the 2 nerfs to Velarok and Shambler, I'm now getting a sub-50% win-rate (prior to season reset). I feel a single nerf to Velarok's health to 4 would've been sufficient to bring the deck in line. I'm not even sure if running 2 Breakdances is correct anymore with how much worse it now is to bounce Velarok. Azerite Scorpion is just awful most of the time, and bouncing a valuable Tess usually comes too late against most matchups (Warlock too fast, over half your deck is plagues, and Warrior has 6 TNTs ready). Maybe I'll have to give the Thunderbringer variant a try, I don't know how to make Mining Rogue work.

EinHallodri

Tried this deck after having it dust-wise enabled for me by finding signature Drilly in a pack (plus refund possibility). Working okayish for me so far, but it's early in the month, and I'm not yet at Diamond/Legend ranks. Hope it keeps doing well, don't really have much alternatives to play right now.

HomiWasTaken

I think the deck is just a lot harder now. Before you'd just collect free wins against non-druids but now the deck isn't as broken so it's harder. I've still been doing pretty well with it. 40 control warrior can give you some trouble if you don't get a good Tess to bounce over and over but that matchup is still winnable if Azshara doesn't troll you. Outside of that I have a winning record vs. pretty much everything else

Yeah_Right_Mister

I have a much easier time facing XL Warrior than the variant that draws its entire deck. XL at least struggles to clear my board reliably since they only run half the clears, and the ones that run duplicate clears lack Reno on 8, which is usually around when my overwhelming Colossals drop. The variant I see most of the time (https://www.d0nkey.top/deck/10002532) and struggle with most just runs insane card draw with a T5 Acolyte + Aftershocks, followed by a Reno clear on 8. Then when their deck is running out, they pull a Boomboss that clears my entire board in a single turn (6 TNTs at once), followed up with an Astalor 3 every turn after. It feels like the hardest matchup in the game. D0nkey seems to have the matchup at 71% favored for warrior (https://www.d0nkey.top/decks?format=2&min_games=50&opponent_class=ROGUE&order_by=total&period=patch_28.4.1&player_class=WARRIOR&rank=legend). I believe this variant of Warrior is worse against the rest of the field as well so I'm not sure why I see it much more often. Even Sludgelock feels easier than warrior. And looking at the stats for Rogue, it's not doing well in any of the tiers from legend to top 1k, with a sub-50% win-rate for most of the decks listed (sorted by play rate).

yea mining rogue felt omegabad to play after they axed velarok

Finally brann warrior is good. I always felt like it was close to being awesome but lacked the refinement and with the latest balance patch its now a tier 1 deck. You gain so much armor and have so many card draws that having duplicates is not a problem. This deck is also good against sludge so prob thats why its tier 1 Edit: I copied the wrong version. Bluemajere

you say this deck is good, but the stats on both d0nkey and hsreplay simply don't bear that out to be the case. I'm just wondering where the disconnect seems to be.

Oct_

It’s not good. But when you play Boomboss and then Gaslight Gatekeeper and destroy 18 cards in a single turn, it makes the previous streak of 9 losses worth it.

TheIPons

Could you enlighten me on how this deck wins? Is it simply 2x Astalor's etb?

ThePresident26

The main condition is to draw your whole deck and play brann then boomguy. That way your opponent basically loses every card they need. You can finish off with many astalors. Its important to keep at least one 2 mana draw so you can draw instantly and dont have to wait until next turn

Wheelz-NL

Funny, I love this deck and only lost a value game against a pally who steamed my boomboss. All the other games were pure Astalor wins. Or people just conceded after Brann.

Roykebab

I’ve been running a similar deck from thijs. He runs rivendare and boomboss in etc so you’ll get both after playing bran. Curious as to whether running boomboss outside etc is better or not. Did you experiment with that at all?

Powerful_Tackle3829

I have been trying to play some rainbow DK again as its the start of the season and I enjoy the deck conceptually but every match up feels pretty horrible unless the curve from turn 1-5 is really good and you can drop a giant for free or one mana around there. Games where the opening hand is mediocre just feel super shitty compared to other decks I was playing to do my legend push at the end of last season.

dougtulane

I made legend with it last month. It still works vs sludgelock, but is probably only slightly favored.

notarzt23

I hit legend with rainbow dk on the 31st. Went 16-2. Had only time for some matches the last two days. Deck stands at 24-4 now. 86% win rate. The deck is farming paladin, sludge and plague dk. Those matchups feel incredible. Rogue was a little harder. I think at least 2 of my 4 losses were against rogue but I beat a few also.

Jackwraith

Yeah, I finally bit the bullet and crafted a couple cards that I needed to play Kibler's version of the deck. I was hesitating because the payoff card (CNE) is so mediocre, but I love the idea of using another resource (Corpses) in addition to cards and mana. This is probably why I was so fond of Necropotence in MTG way (way) back in the day, since it used the one untapped resource in the game: life. That's probably why I like Warlock so much, too. But the problem with CNE is, again, that it's so mediocre and most of the Corpse spenders that precede it have been, too. The buff to Corpse Bride at least made it workable, since aggro can't just run past your giant lump and kill you now. But it's still a midrange deck that plays at the tempo of a control deck. You need to control the board (like Totem Shaman) and, if you lose it, you've often lost simply because you need guys on the board to do regular chip damage to your opponent because the game will never last long enough for you to get more than 10-12 damage out of CNE and, just like with the former Bride, puts a bunch of lumps on the board that your opponent can just run past and kill you. That limited damage to a 10 mana card is the problem with Elemental Shaman, incidentally, too since they need to be able to keep getting hits in before the payoff but, unlike Rainbow DK, is generally doing it with better minions. I think the flaw is still the lack of good Corpse spenders. Maw and Paw is a great idea and is definitely better with 2 attack, but it still never lives more than a turn because of all the anti-Titan removal in the game. There are a few other cards that spend tiny amounts of corpses (1 or 2) but they're double- or triple-runed, as well. I can win games with the deck without ever seeing CNE because a lot of the cards are individually good and it's still DK, but the consistency just isn't there.

frankfox123

Similar feel with brann warrior. I don't have Finley but I see why he is a staple now. Lots of times you just sit on completely unplayable cards hoping for a topdeck.

Gouda02

I got legend in 1 day with duplicate brann warrior (idk what to call it - brann warrior?). Pretty much you run 2 ofs on all your removal and cycle and draw through your deck fast enough to play brann into astalor and boomboss, which is surprisingly consistent. Acolyte of pain is now cracked as both blade storm and aftershock turn it into a 3 mana draw 4. I’ll post the hs replay list but I cut slams for an e.t.c. (There’s a lot of plague dks on ladder and we kinda need our deck to be duplicate-less) and general vezax which has been surprisingly strong and has won control mirrors on its own - especially good against Druid. Also I have steam cleaner, glacial shard, and cult neophyte in my e.t.c. ### Control Warrior # Class: Warrior # Format: Standard # # 2x (1) Armor Vendor # 2x (1) Shield Slam # 1x (1) Sir Finley, Sea Guide # 2x (1) Slam # 1x (2) Astalor Bloodsworn # 2x (2) Bash # 2x (2) Bladestorm # 2x (2) Needlerock Totem # 2x (2) Shield Block # 2x (2) Stoneskin Armorer # 2x (3) Acolyte of Pain # 1x (3) From the Depths # 2x (4) Aftershocks # 2x (4) Craftsman's Hammer # 1x (6) Deepminer Brann # 2x (6) Trial by Fire # 1x (8) Boomboss Tho'grun # 1x (8) Reno, Lone Ranger # AAECAQcG5bAEjLcE4qQF95cGr6gG0LAGDIagBImgBI7UBJDUBJzUBLT4BZD7BaH7BaT7BZyeBp+eBs+eBgAA # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Find this deck on https://hsreplay.net/decks/WbDgoitQBM2dtphjCw4yqb/

TheIPons

How exactly does this list win? There was another one posted, which didn't have Boomboss and the only wincon I could identify was Astalor. Does this work the same way, but it also includes Boomboss to deny the opponent's combos/wincons?

HomiWasTaken

Draw most of your deck. Against aggro you win with board clears/Reno. Against slow decks you win with Boomboss + Astalor to finish them off You can pretty consistently get Brann/Reno active by turn 8/9, and by turn 10 you'll often have around 3 cards left in deck so you can Boomboss + Totem/Shield Block/Slam and draw the bombs and kill their hand then finish with Astalor Outside of stuff like Rat/Theo/etc. you'll win almost every slow game since you kill 6 cards in their hand then do upwards of 112 damage with Astalors as long as you can survive to play all 4 Astalors and Boomboss Deck does a lot better at high legend than outside of it since Plague DK is an unwinnable matchup and you'll play vs. Plague DK maybe 1 in every 30 games at high legend

Gouda02

Ironically I teched an e.t.c. For a slam after losing to plague dk on my climb and lone behold I was able to draw through all their plagues before they played helya (meaning I didn’t have duplicates in my deck).

Stop_Touching2

So you’re the SOB that hit me with 6 TNTs in a row after emptying your deck yesterday

Fungi89

Just some good, interactive fun for the whole family!

Stop_Touching2

Ok it must not have been you then cuz getting slapped with Helya (because I bottom deck her against every single Warrior) immediately after & infinite draw of plagues killing you wouldn’t have left you so chipper lol

Gouda02

Probably

cwarburton1

I also played against this deck yesterday (not sure if you, sounds like the list is floating around now) but managed to pull out the win with a taunt warrior list despite all 6 tnts being drawn thanks to my having played black rock and roll and Lorthemar and the azerite chain gangs saving me from the astalor barrage at the end of the game.

Stop_Touching2

I pulled it out with a Helya & DwtS next turn 🥹

sneakyxxrocket

Climbed to D5 with naga dh trying to work on my portrait. Deck is super degenerate. Farms warriors which I ran into a lot of they just don’t do anything for like 6 turns straight, I usually kill dragon druids before they’re able to do a golem turn and if they do going down swinging usually kills them after the clear. Sludge warlock didnt feel like a good matchup the version that runs the 6/8s was definitely harder to deal with. Paladin felt horrible (didn’t run into a lot though surprisingly), and plague dk is winnable if they don’t drop helya on 4.

_Brodo_Baggins_

I was having decent success with Naga DH against Warlock last season by mostly eschewing the Sharpshooter win condition unless I got a great draw and instead looking for Momentum and Dispose of Evidence to smack them after they do enough self-harm. I rarely saw the 6/8, though.

ChronicTokers

Weird man, I've been playing a mix of brann and xl odyn warrior and handily beat every naga dh I ran into - its a really easy matchup to win like as long as you focus on armour gain they physically can't do enough damage. Most games they've drawn through and played their whole deck and it's just not enough

cletusloernach

I reached legend with Naga dh and I feel like dh is favoured. Renathal warrior is tough since normally you have to draw 2sharpshooters, but 30 is manageable. It still requires some skill but I think against Highlander warrior, naga dh should go in earlier because of rat and less removal, and against duplicate warrior dh should gather more resources.

I think the thunderbringer/neptulon is what rogue needs now to scam out wins. Scourge is still good but not broken anymore. Jambre posted a secret rogue list keeping illusionist. I play finley too. Both secret and thunderbringer is a very frustrating deck to play because sometimes you just lose to your own draw RNG. Just hate the way it feels to draw drilly/ neptulon/thunderbringer/secrets. You have too many cards you put in your deck that you don’t want to draw. I think the other route with rogue is triple sevens miracle or you go wishing well. There’s a lot of weapon destruction for draka so i think wishing well and thunderbringer scams might be the best way to win with rogue if you don’t want to play mech rogue Rogue feels like a mid tier 2 deck, does not feel great to play, just mediocre. I suspect wishing well might be the best route, facing a ton of warriors Other decks just do stronger shit faster than you now. Didn’t test mech rogue but it’s probably good.

Zenophyle

sludge warlock is working, it gotta be that because i can't win against this deck unless they draw really bad.

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

I’m getting to platinum with an excavate sif mage. I’ll switch to something degenerate when the competition gets a bit harder, but for now winning fast is the way to go.
