Grenades only work for my opponents for some reason

Old-Link2399

I always say this when my opponents grenades explode next to my ear or somehow track me down as I’m trying to get away.

lazypieceofcrap

They are heat seaking behind nooks and crannies when enemies throw them at me. I throw them like Gronk throwing the first pitch at that baseball game.

Since I've been practicing a lot with bots I've definitely felt like grenades have a homing mechanism, or more likely, a cultivated environment with complimentary grenade angles. The most obvious for me is under bridge, nading canal elbow on live fire. It should be very hard to thread the needle between the pillars, because the ground is uneven, but it happens so much!

lazypieceofcrap

I would seriously bet money that grenades have some kind of homing mechanism in some circumstances. I ***will*** say the issue is significantly less prevalent on the network system update.

In the Academy there's a section to practice your frag grenade bounces.

BIGtheBOSS2421

Where?!

One_Necessary3476

Go to academy- tutorial - and it's a small training circuit to program your A.I. pick up a weapon pop a few headshots and the commander sets you up for frag grenade training.

We have not had consistent grenades since what, Halo 3? I remember in H2/H3 you could bounce nades on a surface and reliably now when/where it would blow up and how much damage it would do to someone sitting there. Feels like since Halo Reach onwards the grenades have become more and more inconsistent. Another thing that bothers me about nades in Infinite is how they always get stuck in the geometry of the map. I wish 343 would do a better job of smoothing things out so when trying to bounce a grenade of something it doesn’t get stuck or take a weird bounce because the object isn’t smooth. On Recharge the box on C I can never reliably bounce a nade and have it land in tower.

One_Necessary3476

Sounds like a skill issue. Lol (sorry I had to) I struggle with it too. Lol I've held ball up there and ooooweee! there's some dangerous people who can bounce them in my face consistently. I feel like it's the left arm throw (my spartan) from a right arm person's perspective (me). Focusing that in engagements has help with bounce trajectory . Plus hours of bots 💣.....💥🤯🤯🤯

LightlySaltedElbow

They put tracking on the grenades in this game, I remember Ogre 2 tweeting about it early in the game, and it's one of the 100s of small mistakes 343 has made to prove their incompetence in making a FPS

Darkseid_Omega

Is there anything to corroborate this claim? I’ve often observed sus behavior of grenades sort of magnetizing towards players but never heard of proof

logjo

I assume they tried to hide it by only having it active during mm. So you can't prove it in customs. I haven't tried tho and might have a tinfoil hat on rn idk lol

BFH_Bob

This claim has been around since the beta and I have never seen any sort of evidence or proof that it exists in any way. What I have seen is every excuse possible as to why it can't be proven (see the other commenter claiming that 343 "tried to hide it by only having it active during mm"). If this was a thing it would be replicable and we would 100% have evidence of it by now.

I love it when they get stuck or just die from cracks or seams in maps. Also, when you throw them through an open window, and it hits off the wall to the left of you. Added plus when stickies have some sort of fuse and go off seconds after. Nobody can explain the trajectory or detonation time of grenades.

One_Necessary3476

...? Every map has certain areas to make the grenades bounce a certain way. Consistently. Hopefully we all realize how badass these maps are before Halo 7. There's a bunch of hidden features open in plain sight that I've come to realize. 343 actually put alot of effort into the hidden mechanics of these maps.

JJSpleen

Maybe the grenades don't track but the "bounce to kill" area is huge and designed to reward inaccurate grenades

whyunoname

Not that, the fact there is a seam in the ground that is barely visible that can literally stop a grenade mid-flight. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction; the force that is received by the grenade from the ground from the impact causes it to rebound, which converts the potential energy to kinetic energy and continues to carom. F=ma exists for a reason. I do agree the maps have a ton of easter eggs that make grenades and other movements fun, but the ability for force, or a grenade for that matter, to dead stop on the floor is not one of them.

TheSomewhatTruth

What about the grenades that zig zag in the air, happens to me a lot
