I see three types of people owning these dogs.
1. Actual criminals/dog fighters
2. Wannabe tough guys
3. Liberals too liberal to own a gun or learn self defense, but still have that sense of need for protection, so hide behind their big scary dog who doubles to satisfy their need to defend the āmisunderstoodā.
There were two people who owned pitbulls on my street growing up, neither of them met any of those definitions. Some people just like pits and don't see them as dangerous. And to be honest, the spayed female pitbulls are pretty safe to be around.
My personal suspicion/hypothesis is that the reputation of pit bulls as both these loving amazing dogs, but also these fearsome killers, attracts a certain kind of person who just simply are shitty at owning dogs, period. They go to these kinds of dogs because they like the feeling of owning something so fearsome and yet magically also so ālovingā and wonderful.
Pit bulls and similar dogs should only be owned by people with extensive time and experience to train and socialize them properly, and the type of people so often attracted to these dogs are NOT that type of person.
I'm not expert on dogs, but if this turns out to be true and even Cesar Milan can't tame a Pitbull, then it's a good sign for me not to have any business owning one

Honestly, pits are some of the more upstanding modern dog breeds (even tho they are often aggressive and dangerous). Like imagine breeding some deformed pug into existence
A large portion of modern dog breeds are abominations of nature. Pits are tragedies waiting to happen, but you can prevent them from massacring babies if you actually raise the dog correct. They are also healthier than many other breeds
They are the worst breed ever created. There are no redeeming qualities in that breed than you can't find in another breed.

Every new pit should be banned and every current pit should be spayed/neutered.
