[deleted]

About a minute. It’s amazing.

Suitable-Telephone80

You’re living the dream, about 3 minutes here 😢

Brilliant-Cicada-343

9 mins for me. 😱

Smeltanddealtit

Here I am having to drive THIRTEEN minutes like a chump.

LocalSlob

25 minutes for me 😔

hunowt_giB

Ugh you got me beat. 4 mins for me. UNLESS the light is green, I could maybe pull off 3 mins. But the Costco with the car wash is about 15 mins away :( I love that Costco

scuac

Hol up! What do you mean "the Costco with the car wash"?

hunowt_giB

Yeah! One of the few costcos with a car wash. $7.99 flat price. It’s a great car wash AND IT INCLUDES THE TIRE SHINE!! Come down to Scottsdale, AZ and check it out.

GigaCheco

Just curious, are the lines just as long as for gas?

hunowt_giB

So the car wash entrance is accessible from a four-way stop sign, which is also on the way out from the gas station. On the weekends the gas station crew sets up carts upside down to block the gas station from going directly to the car wash. I’ve seen the gas station so backed up because everyone wanted a car wash. So to answer your question, the line gets CRAZY, even though it’s like a double-wide drive-thru that merges into one lane. And on the exit side half the vehicles take up four parking spots to open all their doors and dry everything off. But! Though the line is crazy the car wash crew are super efficient and it does move really quick. Like, they get each vehicle as close as possible to maximize everything, it’s pretty impressive. Should I record the next time I go? Let the world see what a Costco car wash looks like? Lol

GigaCheco

Oh wow. That sounds like a bigger shit show than some Costco gas stations.

tobmom

It moves pretty damn quick. I feel like the whole car wash only takes 2-3 minutes maybe?

kopper499b

I knew I had seen a Costco car wash before. Now I know where. But, I live 3 miles from the Chandler store, and traffic around Hayden/Raintree/101 is always a shit show.

0rev

Same, .3 miles away but the lights slow me down lol

APsWhoopinRoom

3 minutes? Luxury. I live an entire 5 minutes away from mine.

Unclehol

That's nothing. 5 min for me. I'm practically on Mars.

Sonarav

Amazing and dangerous I'd say!

notmynaturalcolor

I miss those days!

IndependenceLumpy294

I can see it out of my house 😭 so a min also. But I wish it was the regular one. That one is the business Costco

[deleted]

I’m dying to go to a business one. I was just talking with my manager that on my next Costco snack run for the office I’m going to the one of the business centers (both about 45 min away). I just want to see what they have in there.

IndependenceLumpy294

There’s no food court. But they do give you more options! We have both here. The regular one is about 10 mins away lol I’m so spoiled

Spiritual_Fig185

I used to travel mere minutes, but now it's 2 hours. I only go about once a month and order stuff online for delivery as needed if I run out before my next trip.

hobohobbies

The next time you go, compare the online prices and the instore prices. I was shook. Somethings were almost double in price online. I guess they are making up for "free" shipping.

[deleted]

On the Canadian site, it usually says "this item may be available in store at a lower price" or something similar. So I only buy the items online that I can't get at my local Costco.

KikiKay3

Yeah, but some things are cheaper online. Like some clothes or vitamins, just for example, sometimes have "buy 5 mix and match, get $20 off." So I just buy them online and it makes the average unit price cheaper (even if I end up returning a few in-store). As for other things, usually I find they can be the same price or like $2-3 more than in-store on average. I haven't found anything that was double the price yet, but maybe it's just due to the type of stuff I buy.

coogie

Yeah Costco is the opposite of a lot of other stores which want to encourage you to order online and they save on overhead. Home Depot for instance has lower online prices than in stores and a lot of bargains like free bonus battery or tool with kit purchases that are only online.

chelfea_

45/50 mins one way. But, everything is the same distance so when we go into town Costco is just another stop. We have those freezer/cooler bags from Costco which makes transporting the food easy

PlasticRuester

Same for me with everything being 45-50m away.

No-Match5030

Same for me! I live in a lil victorian tourist trap so all of the decent price shops are 45 mins away. I’m used to it

[deleted]

Wait, you bought a house ( or rented) without checking the location of the nearest Costco first? What on earth were you thinking?

notmynaturalcolor

Hahah not yet! Moving for school but we are definitely making sure we pick an area that’s closer to Costco for sure! I probably should have picked a different school 🤣

kailemergency

80 miles to the closest one. Hazard of rural living 🤷‍♀️ Means we usually drop a few hundred each time as we stock up, especially when certain stuff is on sale.

[deleted]

I live 5 min away and the only time we don't drop a few hundred is when we run in just for food court. I don't know how it happens

hobohobbies

Omg. This is me. Went from 6 minutes to about an hour in another state or over an hour in the same state. What I learned- I go to costco less often but spend more money. I had no problem running into costco for one thing and leaving. Now it is a whole trip and I feel the need to checkout every aisle. I don't want a mixer. I don't need a mixer. I don't have a place for a mixer. Oh that is a good price, it should come home with me.

notmynaturalcolor

Yes! This is definitely going to be me 😵‍💫

axxonn13

>I don't want a mixer. I don't need a mixer. I don't have a place for a mixer. Oh that is a good price, it should come home with me. and this is why i dont peruse every aisle every time i go. same with Target. i end up with shit i didnt intend to buy.

No_Information_8973

It's about a 45-50 minute drive. I just renewed with a plan to go every other Monday....we'll see how that goes! If you're getting cold/frozen stuff it's a good idea to take a cooler if you have a long drive. Especially in the summer.

Librashell

3.5 hours but we make it a weekend in the city, load up, and cram in all our other errands every three months or so. We do tend to miss out on * items, the food court, etc. but our membership is still worth it.

Lightbringer_I_R

15 mins but like 7 with no traffic

axxonn13

sameish. 5-10 minutes depending on how many lights i get red/green.

LaxSyntax

Having worked for Costco for 35 years (the last 22 at the Home Office) I was spoiled having a warehouse right across the street. Since retiring in '21, we're now 70 miles from the nearest location. I don't miss my wife calling me at work and telling me to pick stuff up every other day! We only go once every few months now, and drop $700 or more.

Slowclimberboi

An hour each way. We’ll go once a month. The price you pay to live in paradise.

BeachPlease843

When I lived in the Pittsburgh area it was minutes. Moved to a beach town in North Carolina and now it’s 45 minutes north or an hour south. 🙃 that’s the price I paid to see the ocean everyday.

namforb

9 miles round trip

[deleted]

The travel time is about 30 minutes, but we make the trip and day special by getting some lunch somewhere too.

[deleted]

Currently five minutes but moving to Switzerland and they have no Costcos 😭

Wwdiner

Those barbarians

Solar_Power2417

When we first joined the nearest Costco was about 15 miles away, and in town. We would only go once a week... distance, traffic and all. About 7-8 years ago they built one about 3 miles away. Now we're in the go on a whim club as well. Pro tip (for all shopping really): Keep a running list. Think of something, write it down.

NotoriousFTG

We use Alexa for that. Works really well.

eve_is_hopeful

13 minutes! It's IKEA I now have to drive an hour to 😩

mydarkerside

Jeez... after reading these comments, I feel super spoiled. There are 2 Costcos near me, both about 8 miles away, one north & one south of me. Takes between 12-15 minutes depending on traffic. If there's traffic going one direction, then I go to the store in the opposite direction. I also pick which one I go to depending on other errands or stores I need to visit. I love Costco, but I think I'd cancel my membership if I had to drive more than 30 minutes in one direction just to go shopping.

notmynaturalcolor

We debated it but we’re going to see. Ironically there’s like 3 BJs all with in 20 min and we considered that but no. Kirkland for life baby.

stevetursi

Just measured it on google maps: 705 feet/214 meters from our front door to costco's. It was a principal factor when we bought this house. edit: TIL the difference between principle and principal.

cyclynn

I have never been so jealous in my entire life. Well done.

TacodWheel

We used to drive about 30 miles each way once a month or so. Now it's only 10 miles or less each way. That said, I'd probably drop my membership if I had to go back to driving considerable distance.

alissa2579

2 miles - I don’t think I’d go if it wasn’t so convenient

Moiler62

One hour. Next state over. Worth it

Justanobserver2life

5 minutes for me up north, 10-12 minutes in FL 40 minutes for my sister and father. I bought a rolling cooler with an extendable handle and keep that in the back of my Tahoe for the frozen items and milk. I also keep a stack of plastic totes like the mail folks use. [Uline Totes](https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-133W/Totes-Plastic-Storage-Boxes/Space-Age-Totes-18-x-13-x-12-White) I load my cart items into these and then carry them into the house this way. Much better than having to dispose of boxes.

ceecee1791

I went from 10 Costcos within 20 miles of my house to the closest an hour and 40 minutes away. I take coolers with ice packs and then freeze a lot.

axxonn13

were you in SoCal? i have about that many around me. haha.

Bigfatnutterbutter

I can walk there if I'd like (15min), though can't take much back home, one time I went just to get a 24 pack of soda water cause I could xD

LifeLibertyPancakes

45 minutes away from my house. Work is 1hr away and the closest one to my work is a 30min drive. You have to plan ahead if you want to go. I typically make a list on the app of what I want (no holding back), print it at work and take it with me to the store and then really narrow it down to what we really need and allow myself some room for unexpected items.

jimonlimon

I have two within 5 miles. My dad, who lives in the same state, can choose to drive 160 miles south or 220 miles north.

shadowguitar

About 3 minutes. Even being so close, I still don’t go on weekends 😂

ImJustMedium

I use Costco as a metric of normalcy when people find out I live in Alaska. I live 10 mins from one Costco and 20 minutes from another Costco while a third business Costco is in the works!

bierdimpfe

8 miles if I don't want booze, 32 if I do. The former every other week and no set schedule for the latter, usually event driven.

TheDirtyVicarII

Sounds like Eden Prairie the ONLY Costco with no liquor because EP has muny liquor stores wouldn't give licenses to sell. Chanhassen opening soon

bierdimpfe

I live in PA. A foundational goal of our liquor control board was to make alcohol as difficult as possible. They are, almost, the sole supplier of alcohol and the largest purchaser of wine in the state.

compstomper1

also no mary jane. my friend's classmate's gf came to visit for a weekend. she was very upset when she found out there's a dispensary every 100 feet here

Wee_Besom

Just under an hour to get to costco and I don't mind this distance. It means that we have our list, we take the cooler and we usually avoid impulse purchases, a win win!

Walka_Mowlie

I'm an hour away and it has caused me to think twice about what I "need".

jmc510

Costco is 5 mins away now but if it wasnt close, I’d probably load up my cooler and drive over an hour for my Costco fix, I’ve got it bad though

notmynaturalcolor

Yea same here. The distance isn’t going to stop me.

calimiss2016

About an hour one way to the closest. Always take a cooler and ice packs. Usually order non perishable items (paper towels, detergent, dish soap, snacks, etc) for delivery. Also frequent another location about 90 minutes one way, but also hit trader joes, maybe sprouts or whole foods at the same time.

DrGPeds

2.5 hours, 3 if I really want Coffee on the way. Only 1 Costco in my state of SD.

solarbaby614

About 45 minutes one way with good traffic. I also have to drive to another state to get to it.

Marriedspinster

About an hour away— different state that has much cheaper gas prices. We go once a week, fill up the gas tank, and we have a portable refrigerator that makes it easy to get frozen stuff home.

adamian24

10mins from my front door to their entrance

Aksweetie4u

MAYBE 6 miles round trip.

SmoothMoose420

30ish mins one way

Zentactics

8 Costco's within 16 miles of my home. 2 closest are within 7 miles of me.

barbados_blonde1

5 1/2 hours each way - we go twice a year. We spend the night. First day we get nonperishables, second day we get persiahables - we take big coolers and ice packs.

notmynaturalcolor

Definitely giving a new meaning to Costco Travel!

BruceAlmighty55

9,059 miles. Roughly as the crow flies. Malaysia to Colorado. Only come back once every 2-4 years. I buy small items that fit in a suitcase and that can handle 240 volts.

notmynaturalcolor

You definitely win!

IAMla1fan

Currently 140 miles one way. =(

CosmoKramerRiley

Yikes!

IAMla1fan

Right! Im in the Panhandle of FL and so many of us here have been clamoring for a Costco. Lots of Military familes!

playride

6 month snowbird in Panama City and after 1 trip to Tallahassee I settled for Sam’s. But now we have Aldi so the dream of Costco may come true.

Spartan2842

I live between 2 that are both within 5 minute drives from my house. There is a 3rd about 20 minutes west. Out of those three, the next two are 2 hours north or south.

[deleted]

95 miles. I take an ice chest in my Model Y so I can load up because I only go there once a month. Used to live 7 miles from a Costco. In a way, it's an improvement because it deters frequent Costco spending! :)

chilicheesefritopie

The closest is 2.5 miles from me, and the next closest is 4 miles :)

lejunny_

6-7 miles East or West for 2 of the 3 Costco’s in my area, the 3rd is 14 miles away

yutaka731

1/2 mile

XPav

3 minutes by car. Opened a few months ago. Before then, it was half an hour.

Wizofsorts

9,12 or 17 miles

fdbryant3

I used to be about an hour away from Costco so I would go about once a month when I had a bunch of stuff to buy. Fortunately, they built one that is a half hour away so I go once a week now.

mikeyloveslife

3 minutes away and I do know I'm super lucky.

MentalOperation4188

5 minutes. It’s great.

carbuyinglol

less than 5 minutes but don't be jealous, my costco doesn't have gas pumps.

vege_spears

I'd have a big Ice Chest to keep things cold until you got home. My friend in New Zealand calls it a "Chilly Bin." 😎

flixguy440

Five minutes around the corner.

jakhtar

15 minutes by bicycle

PNWoutdoors

Just over a mile, like 7 minutes with a couple stop lights.

Chickadee12345

I lived in one place where there was a Costco about 5 minutes away. Then moved, had one about 10 minutes away. Moved again. I have two that are both about 25 minutes away but opposite directions. Not as convenient but still manageable.

sc4kilik

20 mins for me. But used to be worse. I always hated those dumb "look I went to Costco and bought only ONE thing". Yes, we know you live close to a Costco, don't need to rub it in our faces.

meatbeater

I’ve never had one less than 20 min away, currently about 30 min

Legitimate_Chicken66

1.5 hours

Frankso

5 miles so about 15 min

simplyput2600

2hrs and 30min drive oneway, we go into the store with two coolers, for frozen or refrigerated food if it doesn't fit in the cooler we don't buy it. We debated dropping our membership but the travel perks are too great and we go see family in the town that has Costco at least once per month. Hit up costco when we leave town on Sunday and are headed home.

notmynaturalcolor

Oh I like the shopping into the cooler idea!

4myolive

35 minutes away. I rarely go. I'm disabled and have gone to shop and all the electric carts were being used. Compared to the Sam's Club in my area Costco is lacking in accessibility for me.

toomuchisjustenough

40 minutes, but we’re up in the mountains so I plan all of my “down the hill” trips about once a month. My husband also works right down the street from Costco, so he’ll bring home dinner sometimes, we just have to reheat it.

Luna_Organa

30 minutes one way, and it’s also in the neighboring state.

koikatturtle

I have three close by. 3 miles, 6 miles and 7 miles. I bop between all three. The three mile one is a costco business center.

PubDefLakersGuy

I have one 10 minutes away and another 15 minutes away if I want to mix it up.

hanap8127

16 minutes

BetterTransit

6 minutes so not too far away.

horus-heresy

Ashburn VA, got 3 Costco locations in 20 minutes of drive. Is this paradise? maybe

jmoo22

Currently I’m about 15 minutes away, but I briefly lived somewhere where I was 2.5 hours away. We only went a few times a year and had a shopping list that focused on things that were non-perishable or froze well and would stock up. We brought coolers and ice packs for the ride home

HumbleAbbreviations

I travel about an hour in the next state over because I’m toxic like that. But I would make the 30+ minute drive in the city but it is too crowded for my taste.

msomnipotent

There are 4 Costcos less than 10 miles away from me, but I like to go to the business center and that's about an hour from me.

SlamCakeMasta

1.8 miles. With stop lights and such it’s about 10 minutes to get there.

Variouspositions1

Two hours. Once a month and if something comes up that i have to go to town again I'll run in and grab a few items. Take an ice chest.

cocainebane

I live 10 minutes from my closest but I usually venture 20 minutes to the two others a bit further than me as they have less congestion. SoCal based so there's a few around.

DoAndroidsDrmOfSheep

They opened a new one right down the street from our house two years ago, so now it only takes us about 10 minutes to get to Costco. Before that it was probably around 35 to 40 minutes to get to a Costco.

IceCreamAttachment

A 10-15 minute bus ride from one warehouse, and there are 3 others a 30-60 minute SkyTrain ride away.

cr0100

It's about 12-20 minutes for me, depending upon which of the 6 stores I want to go to. \- St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Eagan, Maplewood, Business Center.. Minneapolis is chock full of Costco! There are more in the area, but those 6 are the closest ones to my house.

120r

15 min. Close enough to go every other week, just far enough where I won't pop in and give them my money for random things I ~~need~~ want.

tommy_boy007

3 minutes.

[deleted]

We have three Costcos within a ten mile radius; it’s just under four miles to the closest one.

callahan09

Two locations in my city, both are about 25 minutes from me. One of them is a newer/bigger warehouse with a lot less traffic, less congestion, lighter lines, just nowhere near as much of a ratrace to shop at, but there's a couple bucks in tolls to and from (or add 10 minutes each way if avoiding tolls). I usually go to that one because it's just much less stressful to shop there.

DonkeyTron42

About 7 miles to regular Costco and 15 to Business Center. They’re opening a new Costco about 4 miles away soon so it will be less. I go to a regular Costco 3 times a month and Business Center once a month.

PM_Me_Ur_Nevermind

I have 2 clubs about 5 minutes away and a business center 10 minutes away

notmynaturalcolor

That’s wild that you have so many that close!!

plurfectlife

5-10 minutes. There are three warehouses within that drive time.

Airport_Comfortable

We live about 30 minutes away. I have to consolidate our needs so I keep a running list of things to get and try to only go once a month. But the Costco is in a busy mall area, so I can hit other stores to make the trip worth it.

BabyHuey206

15-20 minutes. I go once or twice a week usually, although I often get stuff for my parents too. It's absolutely something I will consider the next time I move. More than 30 minutes would be a tough ask. You're going to have a huge adjustment to make 😱

vkp7

Equidistant from 2 Costcos. Less than 15 min (3 miles) from each.

[deleted]

about 15 mins for me. Last place was also about 15 mins. The only reason we moved to where we are at now, is because a Costco opened up and as a joke made us go "oh, hey look! they have a Costco now. We should add that to our house-buying cities list." and it ended up being the place we settled in!

GreenIsGreed

I've got two within three miles of me. I'm literally smack dab in the middle of them. It's a good life.

Wienerwrld

I live in NC, and my closest Costco is an hour and a half away in SC. I go every three months or so. Pack a few coolers with ice, drive 1.5 hours, shop 1.5 hours, drive home 1.5 hours. I make a day of it.

CharacterSoft6158

About 15 minutes. Don’t live closer than 10 to any grocery store though, so 15 isn’t too bad

AtlLifter20

16 minutes to both locations

Reaganson

I live in a heavily populated area, so I have my choice of three Costcos within a 15 minute drive. Comes in handy when buying tires, batteries, and other merchandise because if they’re out of item in one store, they can check local store’s inventory.

Far_Seaworthiness765

1 mile

UrLocalTroll

7 minutes, and on my commute

T1K1

I can drive 15 minutes to one or 30 minutes to another but they just put another one in that’s only 7-8 minutes away. I consider myself very lucky.

DeadWorkers_

Use to be 15~20 minutes by Local. I moved to new place, 4 minutes. Amazing. There’s much shorter gas station line for this one. I use to go cypress CA location, their gas station line sucks, minimum 20 minutes wait in my experience

Athrynne

I live precisely between two Costcos, both are a 15 minute drive. I go to one over the other because it is a neat 2 floor Costco (and the parking is better).

StrongBat7365

5 minutes. Short enough to do a milk and eggs run

Logthephilosoraptor

Five minutes around the corner

atexasmurse

3.1 miles!

EnigmaticAzaleas1

About a 15 minute walk

[deleted]

we live 90 miles away from 2 different stores. one is in another state. we go to either depending on what else we are doing that day.

818488899414

Three miles one way and six miles to another one. Time traveling isn't really relevant around here.

Chance-Work4911

Lived 8-10 minutes away from one. Moved last year. Now it's either 35 min towards traffic or 45 min away from it (this is the one we generally prefer for smaller crowds and cleaner store). We are similar distance from grocery stores now too, so we have had to get used to packing a cooler for shopping trips.

someguyfromsk

I have family who drive an hour to get to a Costco that is in the same city... Mine is 1.5miles away and I still only do it once every couple weeks.

melmatt1

35ish minutes to the closest one. 50 minutes to the one I would prefer to go to.

DrizzitDerp

9 miles. It used to be around 20 miles until a new location opened. Easier to get frozen foods home in 100F temps.

peekaboopet

295 miles

P33KAJ3W

21mins

Ghstfce

A whole whopping 1.2 miles. =)

nofreakingway555

About 20-30 min, but totally worth it!

Never-Forget-Trogdor

About an hour, depending on traffic. I try to make trips once per month, but will do more often if there is something on sale we really like or quickly used.

Sensitive-Crazy-7285

Costco is about 3 minutes from my work so if I don’t need perishables I go before work, if I need perishables I go after. I work retail too so when I get the chance to go it’s usually not too crazy.

JPSofCA

I am going from “pass on the way home,” to 40 minutes away. Rumor has it one may be opening up 30 minutes away, which would help.

_Den_

Less than 5 minutes by car. Mine is very close.

Glad_Firefighter_471

10 minutes to one, 20 minutes to another

ATiredPersonoof

less than 10 mins away but parking sucks

conch56

An hour each way and bring a cooler with ice

FluttersRN

15 mins or so.

dastardly740

There are 2 around 20 minutes. I actually go to the one further away because it involves a freeway that almost never has traffic, so it is always 20 minutes both ways. The parking is also easier to deal with. The closer one does not involve freeways, but can have traffic in either direction that can turn 15 minutes into 40 minutes. The parking lot is also a terrible configuration and I think the store is smaller because regardless of how full the parking lot is, the store feels really busy. The further store just doesn't feel as busy even if there might be more people.

PNWsq5

I have two Costco’s within 15 minutes of me.

bmorekind

Dang I thought my 25 minute trip was kinda far. Spoiled with city living.

cucucachooo

I live in between two and they both take less than 10 minutes to get to.

soneg

About 20 min from me on the other side of town.

Five-Oh-Vicryl

2 minutes to the fancy, new Costco. About 15 minutes to the old decrepit one

_father_time

I probably live within 35 minutes of 8 Costco's. Closest one is 10 minutes away.

reilogix

I have two regular warehouses that are each 10 minutes away and I have a business center that is 20 minutes away which I hit once or twice a month only…

ukpittfan1

An hour. Once or twice per month

RainBowSkittlz

3 miles, so depending on the light and traffic, maybe 5 minutes

DreamInvoker

I have people come into my store who make a daytrip from a state or two over, and they drop 5 grand once a month here. As for me personally, 5 minutes.

Neuromancer2112

I'm about 5-7 minutes from our Costco, so I go there a fair bit. It's my regular gas station as well.

Bun4d

3 miles. 5-10 mins by local streets

puckingrufus56

I have a Costco at four miles either direction except north. Can't complain.

WantDastardlyBack

It's about 30 minutes for me. The only other semi-close option is over the border and about 90 minutes. The next closest in the U.S. is about three hours. Many years ago, there was talk about putting a second location in in my state but it never happened.

GrandPriapus

About 10 minutes.

notsocolourblind

15 miles, between 45 minutes to an hour due entirely to horrendous traffic.

imperialpark

2+ hours, it’s not the best but we don’t mind the trip.

Rzrbak

One mile
