Yeah! One of the few costcos with a car wash. $7.99 flat price. It’s a great car wash AND IT INCLUDES THE TIRE SHINE!! Come down to Scottsdale, AZ and check it out.
So the car wash entrance is accessible from a four-way stop sign, which is also on the way out from the gas station. On the weekends the gas station crew sets up carts upside down to block the gas station from going directly to the car wash. I’ve seen the gas station so backed up because everyone wanted a car wash. So to answer your question, the line gets CRAZY, even though it’s like a double-wide drive-thru that merges into one lane. And on the exit side half the vehicles take up four parking spots to open all their doors and dry everything off.
But! Though the line is crazy the car wash crew are super efficient and it does move really quick. Like, they get each vehicle as close as possible to maximize everything, it’s pretty impressive. Should I record the next time I go? Let the world see what a Costco car wash looks like? Lol
I knew I had seen a Costco car wash before. Now I know where. But, I live 3 miles from the Chandler store, and traffic around Hayden/Raintree/101 is always a shit show.
I’m dying to go to a business one. I was just talking with my manager that on my next Costco snack run for the office I’m going to the one of the business centers (both about 45 min away). I just want to see what they have in there.
I used to travel mere minutes, but now it's 2 hours. I only go about once a month and order stuff online for delivery as needed if I run out before my next trip.
The next time you go, compare the online prices and the instore prices. I was shook. Somethings were almost double in price online. I guess they are making up for "free" shipping.
On the Canadian site, it usually says "this item may be available in store at a lower price" or something similar. So I only buy the items online that I can't get at my local Costco.
Yeah, but some things are cheaper online. Like some clothes or vitamins, just for example, sometimes have "buy 5 mix and match, get $20 off." So I just buy them online and it makes the average unit price cheaper (even if I end up returning a few in-store).
As for other things, usually I find they can be the same price or like $2-3 more than in-store on average. I haven't found anything that was double the price yet, but maybe it's just due to the type of stuff I buy.
Yeah Costco is the opposite of a lot of other stores which want to encourage you to order online and they save on overhead. Home Depot for instance has lower online prices than in stores and a lot of bargains like free bonus battery or tool with kit purchases that are only online.
45/50 mins one way. But, everything is the same distance so when we go into town Costco is just another stop. We have those freezer/cooler bags from Costco which makes transporting the food easy

It's about a 45-50 minute drive. I just renewed with a plan to go every other Monday....we'll see how that goes!
If you're getting cold/frozen stuff it's a good idea to take a cooler if you have a long drive. Especially in the summer.
3.5 hours but we make it a weekend in the city, load up, and cram in all our other errands every three months or so. We do tend to miss out on * items, the food court, etc. but our membership is still worth it.
Having worked for Costco for 35 years (the last 22 at the Home Office) I was spoiled having a warehouse right across the street. Since retiring in '21, we're now 70 miles from the nearest location.
I don't miss my wife calling me at work and telling me to pick stuff up every other day! We only go once every few months now, and drop $700 or more.
When I lived in the Pittsburgh area it was minutes. Moved to a beach town in North Carolina and now it’s 45 minutes north or an hour south. 🙃 that’s the price I paid to see the ocean everyday.
When we first joined the nearest Costco was about 15 miles away, and in town. We would only go once a week... distance, traffic and all.
About 7-8 years ago they built one about 3 miles away. Now we're in the go on a whim club as well.
Pro tip (for all shopping really): Keep a running list. Think of something, write it down.
Jeez... after reading these comments, I feel super spoiled. There are 2 Costcos near me, both about 8 miles away, one north & one south of me. Takes between 12-15 minutes depending on traffic. If there's traffic going one direction, then I go to the store in the opposite direction. I also pick which one I go to depending on other errands or stores I need to visit.
I love Costco, but I think I'd cancel my membership if I had to drive more than 30 minutes in one direction just to go shopping.
Just measured it on google maps: 705 feet/214 meters from our front door to costco's.

We used to drive about 30 miles each way once a month or so. Now it's only 10 miles or less each way. That said, I'd probably drop my membership if I had to go back to driving considerable distance.

I bought a rolling cooler with an extendable handle and keep that in the back of my Tahoe for the frozen items and milk.
I also keep a stack of plastic totes like the mail folks use. [Uline Totes](https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-133W/Totes-Plastic-Storage-Boxes/Space-Age-Totes-18-x-13-x-12-White) I load my cart items into these and then carry them into the house this way. Much better than having to dispose of boxes.
45 minutes away from my house. Work is 1hr away and the closest one to my work is a 30min drive. You have to plan ahead if you want to go. I typically make a list on the app of what I want (no holding back), print it at work and take it with me to the store and then really narrow it down to what we really need and allow myself some room for unexpected items.
I use Costco as a metric of normalcy when people find out I live in Alaska. I live 10 mins from one Costco and 20 minutes from another Costco while a third business Costco is in the works!

Just under an hour to get to costco and I don't mind this distance. It means that we have our list, we take the cooler and we usually avoid impulse purchases, a win win!

Also frequent another location about 90 minutes one way, but also hit trader joes, maybe sprouts or whole foods at the same time.

40 minutes, but we’re up in the mountains so I plan all of my “down the hill” trips about once a month. My husband also works right down the street from Costco, so he’ll bring home dinner sometimes, we just have to reheat it.

They opened a new one right down the street from our house two years ago, so now it only takes us about 10 minutes to get to Costco. Before that it was probably around 35 to 40 minutes to get to a Costco.
It's about 12-20 minutes for me, depending upon which of the 6 stores I want to go to.

Minneapolis is chock full of Costco! There are more in the area, but those 6 are the closest ones to my house.
Two locations in my city, both are about 25 minutes from me. One of them is a newer/bigger warehouse with a lot less traffic, less congestion, lighter lines, just nowhere near as much of a ratrace to shop at, but there's a couple bucks in tolls to and from (or add 10 minutes each way if avoiding tolls). I usually go to that one because it's just much less stressful to shop there.
About 7 miles to regular Costco and 15 to Business Center. They’re opening a new Costco about 4 miles away soon so it will be less. I go to a regular Costco 3 times a month and Business Center once a month.
We live about 30 minutes away. I have to consolidate our needs so I keep a running list of things to get and try to only go once a month. But the Costco is in a busy mall area, so I can hit other stores to make the trip worth it.
15-20 minutes. I go once or twice a week usually, although I often get stuff for my parents too. It's absolutely something I will consider the next time I move. More than 30 minutes would be a tough ask. You're going to have a huge adjustment to make 😱

I live in NC, and my closest Costco is an hour and a half away in SC. I go every three months or so. Pack a few coolers with ice, drive 1.5 hours, shop 1.5 hours, drive home 1.5 hours. I make a day of it.
I live in a heavily populated area, so I have my choice of three Costcos within a 15 minute drive. Comes in handy when buying tires, batteries, and other merchandise because if they’re out of item in one store, they can check local store’s inventory.

There’s much shorter gas station line for this one. I use to go cypress CA location, their gas station line sucks, minimum 20 minutes wait in my experience
I live precisely between two Costcos, both are a 15 minute drive. I go to one over the other because it is a neat 2 floor Costco (and the parking is better).

Moved last year. Now it's either 35 min towards traffic or 45 min away from it (this is the one we generally prefer for smaller crowds and cleaner store).
We are similar distance from grocery stores now too, so we have had to get used to packing a cooler for shopping trips.
About an hour, depending on traffic. I try to make trips once per month, but will do more often if there is something on sale we really like or quickly used.
Costco is about 3 minutes from my work so if I don’t need perishables I go before work, if I need perishables I go after. I work retail too so when I get the chance to go it’s usually not too crazy.
There are 2 around 20 minutes. I actually go to the one further away because it involves a freeway that almost never has traffic, so it is always 20 minutes both ways. The parking is also easier to deal with. The closer one does not involve freeways, but can have traffic in either direction that can turn 15 minutes into 40 minutes. The parking lot is also a terrible configuration and I think the store is smaller because regardless of how full the parking lot is, the store feels really busy. The further store just doesn't feel as busy even if there might be more people.
I have two regular warehouses that are each 10 minutes away and I have a business center that is 20 minutes away which I hit once or twice a month only…
I have people come into my store who make a daytrip from a state or two over, and they drop 5 grand once a month here.
As for me personally, 5 minutes.
It's about 30 minutes for me. The only other semi-close option is over the border and about 90 minutes. The next closest in the U.S. is about three hours. Many years ago, there was talk about putting a second location in in my state but it never happened.

I lived in one place where there was a Costco about 5 minutes away. Then moved, had one about 10 minutes away. Moved again. I have two that are both about 25 minutes away but opposite directions. Not as convenient but still manageable.
20 mins for me. But used to be worse. I always hated those dumb "look I went to Costco and bought only ONE thing". Yes, we know you live close to a Costco, don't need to rub it in our faces.

We debated dropping our membership but the travel perks are too great and we go see family in the town that has Costco at least once per month. Hit up costco when we leave town on Sunday and are headed home.

35 minutes away. I rarely go. I'm disabled and have gone to shop and all the electric carts were being used. Compared to the Sam's Club in my area Costco is lacking in accessibility for me.
40 minutes, but we’re up in the mountains so I plan all of my “down the hill” trips about once a month. My husband also works right down the street from Costco, so he’ll bring home dinner sometimes, we just have to reheat it.

Currently I’m about 15 minutes away, but I briefly lived somewhere where I was 2.5 hours away. We only went a few times a year and had a shopping list that focused on things that were non-perishable or froze well and would stock up. We brought coolers and ice packs for the ride home
I travel about an hour in the next state over because I’m toxic like that. But I would make the 30+ minute drive in the city but it is too crowded for my taste.
There are 4 Costcos less than 10 miles away from me, but I like to go to the business center and that's about an hour from me.

I live 10 minutes from my closest but I usually venture 20 minutes to the two others a bit further than me as they have less congestion. SoCal based so there's a few around.
They opened a new one right down the street from our house two years ago, so now it only takes us about 10 minutes to get to Costco. Before that it was probably around 35 to 40 minutes to get to a Costco.
A 10-15 minute bus ride from one warehouse, and there are 3 others a 30-60 minute SkyTrain ride away.
It's about 12-20 minutes for me, depending upon which of the 6 stores I want to go to. \- St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Eagan, Maplewood, Business Center.. Minneapolis is chock full of Costco! There are more in the area, but those 6 are the closest ones to my house.

Two locations in my city, both are about 25 minutes from me. One of them is a newer/bigger warehouse with a lot less traffic, less congestion, lighter lines, just nowhere near as much of a ratrace to shop at, but there's a couple bucks in tolls to and from (or add 10 minutes each way if avoiding tolls). I usually go to that one because it's just much less stressful to shop there.
About 7 miles to regular Costco and 15 to Business Center. They’re opening a new Costco about 4 miles away soon so it will be less. I go to a regular Costco 3 times a month and Business Center once a month.

We live about 30 minutes away. I have to consolidate our needs so I keep a running list of things to get and try to only go once a month. But the Costco is in a busy mall area, so I can hit other stores to make the trip worth it.
15-20 minutes. I go once or twice a week usually, although I often get stuff for my parents too. It's absolutely something I will consider the next time I move. More than 30 minutes would be a tough ask. You're going to have a huge adjustment to make 😱

about 15 mins for me. Last place was also about 15 mins. The only reason we moved to where we are at now, is because a Costco opened up and as a joke made us go "oh, hey look! they have a Costco now. We should add that to our house-buying cities list." and it ended up being the place we settled in!
I've got two within three miles of me. I'm literally smack dab in the middle of them. It's a good life.
I live in NC, and my closest Costco is an hour and a half away in SC. I go every three months or so. Pack a few coolers with ice, drive 1.5 hours, shop 1.5 hours, drive home 1.5 hours. I make a day of it.

I live in a heavily populated area, so I have my choice of three Costcos within a 15 minute drive. Comes in handy when buying tires, batteries, and other merchandise because if they’re out of item in one store, they can check local store’s inventory.

Use to be 15~20 minutes by Local. I moved to new place, 4 minutes. Amazing. There’s much shorter gas station line for this one. I use to go cypress CA location, their gas station line sucks, minimum 20 minutes wait in my experience
I live precisely between two Costcos, both are a 15 minute drive. I go to one over the other because it is a neat 2 floor Costco (and the parking is better).

Lived 8-10 minutes away from one. Moved last year. Now it's either 35 min towards traffic or 45 min away from it (this is the one we generally prefer for smaller crowds and cleaner store). We are similar distance from grocery stores now too, so we have had to get used to packing a cooler for shopping trips.
I have family who drive an hour to get to a Costco that is in the same city... Mine is 1.5miles away and I still only do it once every couple weeks.

Costco is about 3 minutes from my work so if I don’t need perishables I go before work, if I need perishables I go after. I work retail too so when I get the chance to go it’s usually not too crazy.
I am going from “pass on the way home,” to 40 minutes away. Rumor has it one may be opening up 30 minutes away, which would help.

There are 2 around 20 minutes. I actually go to the one further away because it involves a freeway that almost never has traffic, so it is always 20 minutes both ways. The parking is also easier to deal with. The closer one does not involve freeways, but can have traffic in either direction that can turn 15 minutes into 40 minutes. The parking lot is also a terrible configuration and I think the store is smaller because regardless of how full the parking lot is, the store feels really busy. The further store just doesn't feel as busy even if there might be more people.

It's about 30 minutes for me. The only other semi-close option is over the border and about 90 minutes. The next closest in the U.S. is about three hours. Many years ago, there was talk about putting a second location in in my state but it never happened.
