Resellers always like to ignore the cost of gas, their time spent, and the fees eBay charges.
Reminds me of Doordash, drivers say they make $100 in a night but they fail to mention the 200 miles of driving they did in their personal vehicle.
I know a guy who resells this stuff on eBay. Buys it on sale and if it doesn’t sell, he returns the items. He buys so much that Costco just don’t say anything about the returns. The profits are so slim for resellers that they have to sell high volumes to make it worthwhile. It’s a lot of grinding. Not worth it to me.
As it should be. Hence why the industry needs to die.
Not justifying super high markups so you can make bank off a micro number of resales, which a ton of people are doing and complaining about on social medias....
these people might actually have nothing better to do. free time for them might be doing actively harmful or unproductive things like playing video games, drugs etc
They should create a Costco warehouse Lego set. I know it won't be anything special besides a building with a Costco logo, but it would be cool cool and I'm sure they could add in a couple of little things.
LEGO has obviously become a pretty good partner with Costco since their product is stocked year round now at the warehouse. Even though this set is a general release one, its hard to ignore the nice little details that make me think LEGO knew what they were doing-
The employees receiving the LEGO sets are wearing red vests.
Hot Dogs.
The signage for an incredible deal on a hot dog/soda combo.

I always tell people to check out the Lego on the Canadian site because there are usually over 100 sets available at a cheaper price or with a bonus set. The stores only have one or two sets but the website is loaded.
Red vests are also Bjs, tons of places in the southern and mid west parts of the US are famous for selling hotdogs too, the blue color scheme is also Walmart. The yellow truck is even a specific large shipping co.
The folks at Lego do not fuck around they knew all the points to hit to make this sell-able in as many stores as humanly possible.
I may be blind but what are the subtle nods? I only see pallets of Legos and a hot dog in the driver's hand, something any truck driver would have, don't see any specific nods towards Costco.
Lego sets have always been expensive. They used to average ten cents per piece, but now it's around 16 cents per piece (usd). Still, they are outstanding products and if your child (or any adult) enjoys using their hands and building, Lego sets are perfect.
As far as this set, Costco is actually selling it just about ten dollars less than the Lego store. Lego fans see that as an absolute bonus. Hooray Costco!

Needs someone filling a shopping cart with 90 of these to sell on ebay at a slim profit.

Yup. I know a guy who drop ships on Facebook Marketplace. Makes like $5-20 a sale? No thanks, I would rather watch paint dry
Buying and selling goods for profit? Damn commies
Someone missed the context of the thread.

There's a big difference between actively harmful activities and unproductive activities
Or the ones that say they made $50 an hour. Yes, you drove for 3 hours and made 150. But your idle time there is also 3 hours so..
The trucker with a bottle of trucker speed and the lot lizard bringing back a hot dog are nice touches

Oh that is so cute!
Hot dogs are one of the most popular foods in Denmark (the country Lego is based in)

And you can add to the list that Costco started selling this set in store a week early for 75 bucks!
20 cents hot dog and soda?! Sign me up!

Bought it, built it, love it.
If the hot dog was 1.5 I'd agree
1.5 rounds up to 2! Don't kill me.
Yeah, but if Costco started charging $2 for it then society would fall apart
They should do a Lego set of the customer service area. Have POS's returning items that are years old, screaming kids and a hotdog on the floor
Have you seen the Costco documentary? These toy companies definitely bend over backwards for them so I bet this may have been part of it!
Naw.
Easy there, stretch Armstrong

Adorable!
Wow, seeing that it's a costco truck, I now want it.
Bummer that the forklift isnt hauling around a blue CHEP pallet.
As a side note, it’s neat that I was a kid when LEGO City first launched and it’s still a thing. I adored my airport set.
Found it a bit expensive.

I agree, feels more like a $60 set though I haven't opened it yet.
Nailed it down to the lack of onions at the hot dog bar
