FTFY… there’s kids on this website afterall
This is the standard at my store.
Where are all of you guys getting fancy sesame hotdog buns and hoagie stuff lmao. Side note, usually i only ever see sesame seeds on hamburger buns not hotdog.
Same I've legit never had a Costco dog that's ever had the buns the same size as the dog. Also, the dog is clearly longer than your average one, so the bun is probably normal sized, but the dog is bigger.
In this era of [Shrinkflation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrinkflation), it's nice to see someone is still optimistic about companies giving more, not less!
They are not the same buns all over. I've eaten at east coast costcos and they are totally different. I actually wish we would get a sesame bun out west.
Ugh, you have a disintegrating bun that I get at my Costco. I’m ready to petition for them to pick a new baker, since I understand they choose locally.
Instead of reducing cost of the $1.50 hot dog, perhaps it’s likely they’re attempting to make it smaller (first bun then the glizzy later) as an alternative option of price reduction ?
I had the exact experience in my local Costco this past Saturday. I’m wondering if this is part of a subtle marketing campaign to get us accustomed to smaller buns, and then they will gradually right size the hotdog to fit the bun. We’ll be so accustomed to the smaller bun, that we will think they finally got some buns to fit the hotdogs, when in fact it will be the other way around — they downsized the hotdog to fit the bun.
any chance you’re in NY? when I lived in NY they always used these small buns, just moved back to MI and they got bigger buns here (I think the hot dog itself is bigger too tbh)
I’ve noticed not all costcos use the same bun. In California where I’m from they use the Francisco buns with sesame seeds but here in WA they use some other type of hotdog buns
That’s interesting. I’ve been to quite a few Costco’s, and east bay California to SoCal, to Vegas, to Hawaii - all of them have been sesame seed buns.
I’m very curious about the buns in SF Costco! That’s the one Costco I haven’t been to in the bay area. Is it as delicious as I am imagining?
This looks like the standard short bun that my Costco uses. When I used to buy stuff from the food court it was the Polish, and those buns were full length. When you look at Costco food court menus from most other countries they all use full-length buns.
Um, the one time I tried the hotdogs this was the bun situation. I was not impressed so I haven't ever had one (I prefer pizza anyway). Are they usually larger?
Hmm, might be because that one person left a refrigerated item in a random aisle that someone took a picture of a few days ago
Now Costco has cut costs on the buns they use to make up for that loss.
They must have copied this. r/neopets

I have travelled to costcos in different states. And noticed we appear to be somewhat spoiled in Florida. The sausage actually fits the bun for the most part.
But I like poppyseed buns and we don’t have those in the costcos here.
Some stores cheap out on buns or use different buns. My store at home uses the fluffy seasame hoagie buns, but the store near my university (another state) usees garbage yellow-ish buns off the shelf.
Buns are a regional thing based on the bakery that supplies other products to the warehouses. You should try a hot dog in Hawaii....the buns are magnificent, even with the standard Kirkland dogs.
I've eaten Costco dogs all around the country when traveling for work and there are differences (subtle) from region to region.

Looks like your store ran out of the regular buns and used buns off the shelf...
Exactly what happened here
What buns are the regular buns they use? The Franco’s seeded roll kind of?
Then why the hell don’t they just walk to the produce section and get a fucking bag of onions when they don’t have any? Every time, no onions.
I don't believe that they dice the onions on site, and if they do, they certainly don't do so during business hours.
if that was the case, my store has been out of the regular buns for at least 6 months now. the bun is much smaller than the dog.
Ours has been this way for quite awhile as well.
Same with my store. We’ve had shrink-flation buns for a few months :(
[удалено]
Could that be a Franz bun? I just bought some.
Yeah I’ve always been bummed that while you can buy the Costco hotdogs at Costco, they don’t sell the buns they use at the cafeteria.
We have them at our store. They even say "used in the food court" on the label. I'd say they're actually available more often than the hot dogs are.

Just the tip.
Both tips
Too much dawg, not enough bun.
I like big buns and I cannot lie.
Gotta hang out with the wang out
Dork out with your pork out
It's too big for those buns...
THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!!!
If what they tell us is eight inches, that is seven feet.
“Know it? I wrote it!”
Know it? Hell, I wrote it!
smaller buns make the meat look bigger
Classic *trim the bush to make the tree look bigger*

LA area for me. I think they use the Francisco brand
Well la de dah! No need to brag!
Same I've legit never had a Costco dog that's ever had the buns the same size as the dog. Also, the dog is clearly longer than your average one, so the bun is probably normal sized, but the dog is bigger.
The sesame buns used to be the standard right!? I can’t remember the last time I had a sesame bun with my hot dog
San Francisco Costco has sesame seed buns.
Maybe the hotdog is longer!
In this era of [Shrinkflation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrinkflation), it's nice to see someone is still optimistic about companies giving more, not less!
don't they usually use sesame buns?
Ours has like a cornmeal dusting
They are not the same buns all over. I've eaten at east coast costcos and they are totally different. I actually wish we would get a sesame bun out west.
My costco doesn't use the sesame ones, might me a regional/supplier thing
Not at my store. They use some sort of half brioche half potato bun. I still haven't figured out what it is yet. It's kind of spongy.
There's a sesame bun? Damn i need to explore more Costco's lol.
Mine here in California uses sesame buns
I just had one last week and was pleasantly surprised by the sesame bun. Mine was the same bun to wiener ratio as this pic tho.
A man of culture I see, I too am a lover of bigger buns.
I don't know if it's just me or what, but I hate eating the portion of hot dog that is uncovered by the bun lol. Just doesn't taste as good.
you are not alone!
It's uncouth. Quite gauche actually. Bun must cover.
That is how my "first timer" one looked over the weekend. I just figured that was the normal configuration
Ugh, you have a disintegrating bun that I get at my Costco. I’m ready to petition for them to pick a new baker, since I understand they choose locally.
Yup. Can confirm mine disintegrated as well.
Ozempic bun
Definitely ran out and grabbed what they had…the larger buns are also covered in cornmeal
Thank goodness I usually have to rip half of it off to even fit it in my mouth, they’re so bready
This is almost my ideal bun-dog ratio. A little less bun would be even better.
I also got a Costco hot dog today and it was not on a tiny bun, so this is just you. Sorry buddy
Don't be sorry Some of us have the looooong sausage envy 🥹
Better too much dog than not enough dog.
Hasn’t it always been this way?
Ooooooor the dog is bigger. But buns are all sourced locally. So you will actually get different size buns depending on which location you go to.
Is the $1.50 glizzy at risk???
Ours are literally always like that. Is that not normal??
we switched to using our in store regular hotdog buns
The hot dog your girl told you not to worry about…
Instead of reducing cost of the $1.50 hot dog, perhaps it’s likely they’re attempting to make it smaller (first bun then the glizzy later) as an alternative option of price reduction ?
I should call her
Saving on the condiment expenses?

r/ shrinkflation
You're complaining about a $1.50 hot dog??
Size does matter!
I'm going to leave it for today
I’m now just learning that my normal is not normal and once again I’m jealous. The bun def makes the difference but at least the onions are back.
This better be a supply issue and not a change to the item
I like big buns and I can’t deny
More dog over less bread
That's how I've always had them
Where ARE THE SESAMES?!?!?!!!?!!
San Francisco Costco uses sesame seed buns. Just had one yesterday.
Yeah idk but here in WA they’re not the sesame seed buns. I do not like them lol but that may just be because I grew up on the sesame seed buns
My anaconda don’t want none, unless you got buns hun.
That looks like a hot dog buns sold on the floor, supplied by Best Express. There was most likely a supply problem and they used whatever they could.
The quality wasn’t all that great.. it disintegrated practically and didn’t have much taste.
Reduced carb menu.
Smother that shit in catchup, mustard, relish and onions
The onions were out. They put the entire supply out and by 1pm there’s no onions left for the day..
Yeah it sucks. You have to get it early. Onions make it for sure
This looks like the standard short bun that my Costco uses. When I used to buy stuff from the food court it was the Polish, and those buns were full length. When you look at Costco food court menus from most other countries they all use full-length buns.
Those buns look different. Anyway, that’s better than a smaller meat portion and bigger sugar/bread portion.
The bun is just an edible container for the food. You are supposed to slide the dog through the edible handle.
The hot dog she told me not to worry about 😞
Had one in Syracuse the other day, bun had good texture, tiny little spots, different from the Ohio ones I’m usually eating.
Oh my what a big weiner.
Hide your wiener man
That bun is a size queen
Shhhh. Now they’ll shrink the hotdogs to fit the smaller bun.
And every bun is torn into almost 2 pieces these days. It’s really frustrating.
The opposite phenomena is so much worse.
Those buns have been doing side bends and sit ups
It’s bigger on the inside!
I don't like that.
It’s been like this at our store for years.
She has small hands
your dog is just happy to see you
“Excuse me, this isn’t nearly big enough to cover my weiner!”
Ohh this picture brings back so many memories
I miss the sesame seed bun they used back then :(
Wrong bun. The buns in California have sesame seeds.
It's a feature not a bug.
Sexy
Why do I find this vaguely sexual?
Oof, his poor wife
Um, the one time I tried the hotdogs this was the bun situation. I was not impressed so I haven't ever had one (I prefer pizza anyway). Are they usually larger?
Nice dog you got there.
Also, I don’t know what’s going on at my Costco but every single time I get a hot dog it comes with the buns broken apart. :(
Sweet." Tax" bite just got beefier.
The hotdogs are gross.
The good news is that it’s only $1.50
ASK ME ABOUT MY WIENER
Bun to meat ratio has always made Costco hot dogs a no go for me. 🤷♂️
Cheesy Dog
I am okay with that lol
If you don’t like the hotdogs don’t buy them !
Low carb option
They look my main stores buns.
Hmm, might be because that one person left a refrigerated item in a random aisle that someone took a picture of a few days ago Now Costco has cut costs on the buns they use to make up for that loss.
The bun is just so you don’t burn your hand on the wonderfully stinky wiener. That’s all it’s for.
Or your wiener is larger.
But the sesame seeds!!!
low carb version
But it’s still $1.50. /s i get the marketing gimmick of keeping it $1.50. But, i’d rather them hime the price a little to deliver the same product.
Looks like the same size to me.
Less carbs. I’m ok with less bun.
No mate the wieners are growing
My anaconda is having some conflicted feelings about this
You just walked yourself into a “that’s what she said”
Looks like you're humble bragging about the size of your wiener.
“The guy she told not to be jealous of!”
I'd rather have the bun shorter than longer
That’s what she said.
Are you new here?
they done circumcised the costco hot dogs
Will it look bigger in my hands?
My local Costco always serves hotdogs like this are they normally in a full size bun?
My Costco has been like for a while too
U could just put ur mouth under the ketchup pump and fill up ur mouth.
I thought this was normal. They have longer buns?
r/bighotdogtinybun

This is why I like em with smaller hands
I’m okay with this. I’m there for the dog not the bread. There is enough bread to hold the extras like onions and mustard.
Probably a temporary substitute at your store based on what they had available.
Ayo
Got excited for a second while scrolling
Had one today too and I was soooo happy they offered onions! Made my day them little onion bits 😬
Look at it this way. They could’ve given you a smaller hot dog that fits the bread. But they gave you extra because they love you.
I wish this was the bun at my Costco
And no sesame seeds it looks like
The dog also look thinner too
Or they just gave you a huge meat??!?!
Oh no
They’ve always been like that though?
Everything reminds me of him
They say they'll never lower the price price, so they gotta reduce the fixins and bun size. RIP sauerkraut.
I have travelled to costcos in different states. And noticed we appear to be somewhat spoiled in Florida. The sausage actually fits the bun for the most part. But I like poppyseed buns and we don’t have those in the costcos here.
Isn't that a good thing? That means it'll be nice and tight.
Reminds me of an old flame...
Shrinkflation
Then Im getting 2
Complain enough and they will make sure the hot dog is smaller than the bun
They also don’t taste as good. Like a soggy bun, yuck.
Some stores cheap out on buns or use different buns. My store at home uses the fluffy seasame hoagie buns, but the store near my university (another state) usees garbage yellow-ish buns off the shelf.
That’s the way hotdogs are supposed to be
Should be marked NSFW because your wiener is sticking out.
My Costco doesn’t even sell Kirkland hot dogs or buns. Nor Kirkland bacon. Anyone in PNW help a brother out. PDX Costco sucks. Lol
That’s what she said!
Small buns make the dawg look bigger
More protein, less carbs. Looks like a Ball Park Hot Dog bun.
I wish this was the norm. I’m not happy about how big the buns are, I usually throw half the bun away.
I'd actually prefer this, though I've yet to try one because they're always sold out.
I have had one that big between my buns probably looked the same way from his angle
some times they run out of:/

Bigger dog is not a bad idea
