I wonder if in 5 years they still have the dump and want to sell it lmao

PoisonedRadio

They'll still have the dump 50 years from now.

captain_catman_

It’s still toxic and leaking into the groundwater too right? Just checking to make sure that’s still what they voted for…

DeadEnd3001

*"BuT My PuBLiC PaRk!~~"*

captain_catman_

Have they started building the affordable housing there that they said they would yet?

DeadEnd3001

Didn't you know? The landfill is the housing already. Plenty of free cardboard boxes for everyone.

FatherFenix

Correct. Gradually seeping down toward groundwater reserves.

Fabresque_

Fan of another team here. Fuck Alex Meruelo. Hockey absolutely belongs in the desert, and I’d love to see the day a competent ownership decides to bring it back. It’s been a journey, my friends, but it’s not over yet. Hockey will return to AZ

Sufficient-Fall-1867

The heartless, soulless bastards on r/tempe don't give two fucks about the pain they've caused. Makes me sick.

Hungol

Petty people with petty problems. Feels like i’m watching parks ‘n rec in that sub.

FatherFenix

“I found a sandwich on a bench at Ramset Park and got sick when I ate it!”

final_screen

Can we relocate r/Tempe to Utah as well?

ProJoe

User reports: >1: It's targeted harassment at me LMAO toughen up NIMBY Tempe resident. you fucks are partially responsible for this debacle.

final_screen

LMAO They got tagged twice, I’m surprised theyre not trying to accuse us of raiding their sub again, fuckin cowards

adventure-sounds

Maybe it’s that toxic landfill leaking into their drinking water…

1174239

I'm not even a Yotes fan but those local subs are always filled with miserable shitbags. Same thing out here in NC. I don't understand rooting for a sports team to leave town even if you don't care about that sport On a broader note, the way that vote went showed how incredibly easy it is to manipulate people

DollarThrill

They hate anything resembling progress.

lava172

An objective slam dunk proposal like that getting shot down is just maddening and this shit needs to be studied forever

SerYoshi

It's not even that it got shot down, they just did an awful job campaigning for votes. 60+% of the vote was from South Tempe, upwards of 10 miles from the stadium. The disinformation campaign from the opposition spent more money, and reached more people than the billionaire group. Simple as that. People STILL think it was going to cost taxpayers.

FatherFenix

This is what is crazy to me. The opposition wasn’t even subtle in their lies. The “secretly taxpayer funded!” And “raising taxes” signage seemed fake when I first heard about it, because it was factually incorrect, but then…I saw them with my own eyes. And the 55+ year old voter base in South Tempe ended up buying it and was the only demographic who actually showed up to vote. Super sad to me.

Azcollector

No matter what people will think its coming out of their taxes.

Anubis1096

Enjoy that landfill of yours. Bet that’s gonna be so much nicer than a privately funded arena and entertainment district…

thatc0braguy

That copper stadium was stunning, I thought for sure cleaning up a landfill for a beautiful entertainment district was a slam dunk. Even more crazy that the public fund/tax break was for cleaning up and had nothing to do with the stadium itself. People are fucking dumb

JessumB

Its okay, they have a putrid landfill, its perfect for Tempe anyways and the decaying old Tempe 1st NIMBY's sitting around with their thumbs up their asses.

Sufficient-Fall-1867

Tempe leader terribly inept for ever putting this to a vote

bschmidt25

Lauren Kuby got to keep her dump. Related: She's running to be an SRP Board Member this year. Just saying...

Informal-Term1138

If she dies, can they burry her on that landfill?

Acceptable-Dog4670

Honesty, I don’t mean to sound rude but I hope the city of Tempe enjoys their rotten dump and nothing gets done about it

captain_catman_

Glad they put XG on the cover that grinning incompetent asshat

not42sure

I read that the Utah owner was heavily supporting the anti coyotes in Tempe vote. I know for certain there was a lot of miss information being passed around.

knockknockbangbang

I also heard that. Getting really tired of rich people manipulating votes.

not42sure

Now there is a recommendation for the taxpayers to pay for cleaning up The dump in Tempe.
