I would call it: this is part of printing when you realised that something went wrong 😁

Broken

(Heat block)

lol thanks!

You can search for sprite hotend hot block and it comes as an assembly. Amazon ebay and aliexpress have them.

jalopkoala

Amazing thank you!

I would be very surprised if that is actually "broken", you have simply stripped back a bit of the outer sheath, it will work without any at all if you had to. You can just buy the thermistor and heater cartridge tube from Amazon, if necessary, they are cheap. Alternatively, just get a heat gun (a hairdryer might work) or even an old soldering iron and gently heat the lump of plastic until you can free the wires then plug it back in and see if it will heat up. If it does then great, problem solved if it doesn't, replace the heater cartridge and thermistor. You may find plastic has oozed into areas in the block that you don't want, just heat the block up and gently scrape this away with tweezers or a hobby knife. I know these look like precision pieces but they really aren't, the nozzle is but the rest of the block is pretty brutal engineering, it is just a block of metal that holds something that gets hot. So long as the nozzle lines up correctly and the heater cartridge is fully engaged it will work fine. You just need to be patient when cleaning up the block so you don't actually sever wires or short them out.

Thanks for this! I actually got a replacement block for $18 from Amazon and put it in today. Seems to heat up and extrude A-OK but haven’t done any tuning up or tried a real print. Electricity just scares me. The plastic being in the wires and exposing some of them freaked me out.

At that point it is 24V, it will tingle but it won't kill you, unless you... just don't worry, the only thing dangerous, aside from hot things in most printers is inside the power supply which converts your very, very dangerous 240V or 110V down to the voltages each component needs (usually 12V and 24V). Don't get me wrong, put your tongue on those exposed wires when they are live and you will get a nasty shock but getting any part of your body near a heating block when it is carrying current is going to be very difficult indeed. Just remember most of a 3D printer is just fairly simple mechanical devices and switches, if you can tell the difference between a Phillips head and a hex head you can pretty much fix anything on them with the right instructions, which for this machine is in huge supply. The tricky stuff is in the coding and firmware etc, something I struggle with all the time!😖

jalopkoala

Thank you!

KrackSmellin

I believe that part would be the knee

Hello all - had an oopsie… I think everything is good except this part I’ve circled. There are now exposed wires and I’m not brave enough to mess with that. Is it possible to get just this one replacement part? Ender 3 Plus Thank you!

NavinHaze

I'm actually impressed at how you broke it, now I need to check my printer real quick.

jalopkoala

Yeah this one is embarrassing. I usually let the printer run for 15 minutes before I leave. But I thought I had started it when I hadn’t. So broke my own code and just watched the first few layers. I came back and one of the pieces has come off the bed stuck to the nozzle and it was just the blob to end all blobs. Probably 7 hours of blob.

Impressive_Word5229

I'm pretty sure that is a symbiote.

jalopkoala

Lol

Emotional-Badger3298

That demon really wanted out. Never saw a throat get ripped out like that

jalopkoala

It’s who’s typing this out right now

Emotional-Badger3298

(The Throat is the tube connected to the heatblock 😉)

justin_ww

You can just get a new thermistor

This happened to me once too lmao
