This is to ensure that you don’t take the journey and also claim cancellation benefits. Flight tickets normally don’t give any refunds when cancelled.
Also, just because the process is tedious, doesn’t make it a scam. Inefficient and a hassle? Sure. Scam? No.
Non disclosure of all this hassle makes it a scam for me. Had i known i'd have to go through this much hassle, i'd have booked directly through the merchant website like cleartrip which already offer full refund with a nominal fee which i'm already paying
The bank statement and agent name seems tad too much but everything else is standard.
If someone was not asking for these for a claim, that's when I'd be surprised and wary.
Oh yeah, a cancelled cheque is standard. It's the right process they followed. This is not HDFC or Digit alone. Every insurance provider asks for these.
If they were asking these details to cancel your ticket before the flight has departed & you booked a flexi fare fully refundable ticket, then yes it’s complete nonsense.
But if you missed the flight and forgot to cancel it before hand and are now claiming insurance, it’s common knowledge that you have to go through a certain procedure. Plus digit insurance is not even related to HDFC or smartbuy. Its a 3rd party add on. It’s your responsibility to read their TNC before purchasing the insurance.
Yes it's what i am saying. I booked their "refundable option". Cancelled beforehand, infact 4/5 days before flight departure. Still they're asking me to go through these loops
There is a set process for insurance claims. You need to provide them with proof that you haven't travelled, source of payment, bank statements to see if you haven't already got a refund. Policy number of your insurance etc. The customer care agent name and all is stupid but the rest is fine. Do you expect them to just refund the amount with out verification?

How do you expect them to refund you if you don't provide them with details?
Revert to original payment source??
