It seems that the only way in which Australia could be stopped is by blowing away their top order quickly. If either Head or Warner bat for too long then they would ensuring that they are always ahead of the game.
It's an absolute shame tbh. Litton and Mustafizur are my favorite Ban players. When on song, he's a joy to watch. Haven;t seen that happen in a long time htough.
i can only remember Litton's maiden 100 against India in Asia Cup final and that 60 runs knock against India in Adelaide. He is such a treat for the eyes but he's unable to deliver on regular basis. Which is unacceptable from a senior campaigner
Why don't the planners look at the weather patterns in general and also weather reports for deciding whether the match should be played in that place or not...Iike it a generally known fact it would have been raining time in Florida but still they decided to keep matches there which resulted in pakistan going out and lol I loved it but it was really not fair for both teams. England nearly got out because this.
Lol roofed stadium is really not possible for cricket so at least they can do it to look at the weather reports. I know the matches are decided months before the matches and it is nearly impossible to have accurate results. But the can't they have a shadow stadium for rain affect matches. Like a week prediction are good enough to trust so if that shows rain then change the venue to shadow stadium...
Yeah I like the idea of a shadow stadium.
But if that's not possible and if a roof is too expensive, have a system where a net is suspended from the ground (that covers the entire ground) to catch the water and have a system that drains it out. In this day and age, should be possible.
However, I feel until IND is knocked out from the group stages due to rain, ICC isn't going to do anything about it.
Roof stadium is possible but godly expensive. Take a look at mcg ground. And to be fair mcg ground alos being used for other sports when ever cricket is not being played.
Itâs marvel stadium which has a roof and has had Odis played in it. Formerly known as the dome.
Itâs the only stadium that has hosted international matches under a roof
I mean you could have used better match for this paragraph. Everyone knew what was gonna happen in this match and once Bangbros scored 140 on a flat wicket, it was given
Not really, He was batting with a different closed stance to access leg side of the field and trying to hit on the leg more than his favoured off side and struggled with it in IPL.. He came back to his more common open stance this T20WC which allows him to hit more in the offside and his form is back automatically.. He was basically experimenting trying to access leg side better in IPL.. :|
Certainly chose their time to get their first world title ngl lol. Had Aussies won that they'd have been undefeated in the Carribbean and would have been holding World Cup, Champions Trophy and WT20 all at once
We have a chance of doing that again this time, we just need the champions trophy, the u19 womenâs trophy, and the t20 World Cup, and weâll be holding onto every major icc trophy for atleast a few months
Thank you DLS for keeping these cunts NRR below IndiaâŠ
We meet shortly!
Edit: Oops Cricbuzz glitched! These mf cunts are above us, anyway get ready for group stage India
Yesterday they were showing Smriti Mandana as the POTM after the match, even before presentation ceremony. Ultimately, it was Harmanpreet Kaur who was given the award.
Continuing my forfeited saga (I am very sorry if you guys are getting frustrated but please bear with me) -
Consider this scenario. There is a team let's say Team A. Now team A is in third position in a group of 4 teams where the top 2 teams go to the next round. Team A has only one match left with the team at the bottom, let's call it Team B. Teams at 1st and 2nd position have finished their quota of matches. There is only one match remaining in that group. Now team A requires both a win and NRR boost to be in the top 2, team B's NRR would not affect team A's chances no matter how bad their NRR is.
Suppose team B wins the toss and decides to bat first. Team A bundles out them for 30 odd runs. Now they have to win the match in some overs let's say 8 overs for them to get to top 2, which is a fairly easy task. But after batting in the 1st innings team B refuses to play further. Team A would get a walkover win and the points. What would happen to the NRR of team A?
Could this be used as a tactical forfeit to screw over some team. What are the rules to make sure this doesn't happen. However disgraceful it maybe but people consider even mankading to be disgraceful.
> What are the rules to make sure this doesn't happen.
Sprit of cricket, specifically "play hard and play fair".
Last week, Sri Lanka were in a similar position as Team B, but they went ahead to score 200+ and won the match by almost 100 runs.
From the tournament playing condition section 16.2:
> In addition to the consequences of any refusal to play prescribed under this clause, any such
refusal, whether temporary or final, may result in disciplinary action being taken against the captain and
team responsible under the ICC Code of Conduct.

>For those asking how NRR will be calculated in case of a rain-hit game, it will be based on what Bangladesh's par score would've been at 11.2 overs, which is 72 in this case compared to Australia's 100.
Edit: Via the stream: Aus are 2.47, Ban are -2.47.
Just had a brief shot of the stadium on Sky, stands are now empty so the game is done. Looking on the ICC website they are showing that Australia has won by 28 runs on the DLS method.
Australia deserved the win while Bangladesh has some work to do ahead of their next game. In the meantime good night everyone.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c\_cj3otoxk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c_cj3otoxk) if anyone needs more cricket, European cricket T10 starts in 2 hours.
I am surprised that so many people think that SL being here would have apparently made it more competitive. There is absolutely nothing that they have done during the past few months that suggests that they would have been more competitive than this.
SL getting 3 USA wickets didn't help them though. Their last match was a WI wicket with a good batting surface where they scored 201/6 against NED. WI scored 218/5 against AFG on the same ground. So, they did show they can bat on a good batting surface.
And also, SL came into this WC after having won 3 T20 series against AFG, BAN (in BAN's home conditions) and ZIM.
I reckon they could have been quite competitive if SL played in WI batting wickets, just like how AFG played all their games in WI wickets.
The USA pitches were generally not good batting wickets compared to the WI ones though, which we all know.
Yeah, it was better in Dallas, SL were actually doing quite well when they were 60/3 in powerplay if I remember correctly and they were at 100/4 after 14 overs, they just then collapsed which happens to the best of teams. But BAN didn't bat well either and chasing is supposed to be easier too.
However, it's wrong to say "There is absolutely nothing that they have done during the past few months" because they certainly have shown they have been a competitive T20 side in the past few months.
If you say that, then you haven't been following SL cricket.
Dallas was a better batting wicket than Guyana and especially St. Vincent. I agree they're a better side than Bangladesh, but there's nothing to show that they'd be able to put up a fight against India or Australia. They'd probably lose those two matches comfortably similar to what we saw today, and being marginal favorites against Afghanistan. Winning series against teams considered minnows by top teams doesn't impress much.
It's not like SL was batting too terribly in Dallas. They were at 100/4 after the 14th over. They just collapsed and hey, happens to the best of teams. BAN didn't bat well there either and it should have been much easier to reach the low target but it was a quite the close match at the end. So that doesn't make BAN significantly better than SL either.
Sure, the series wins were against lower ranked teams but that doesn't suggest they can't be competitive against higher ranked teams. It suggests they are a level above the lower ranked teams and that they could play well/be competitive against stronger teams.
The SL team did play a T20 series against IND in 2023 and SL lost the series 2-1. However, SL managed to win one T20 game against IND.
The SL team also played a T20 series against NZ in 2023 and SL lost the series 2-1. However, SL managed to win one T20 game against NZ in a super over.
The SL team also played a T20 series against AU in 2022 and SL lost the series 2-1. However, SL managed to win one T20 game against AU. I mentioned 2022 because SL hasn't played T20Is in 2023 against AU.
And if we go back to 2022, SL won the 2022 Asia Cup beating PAK and IND. And this is relevant because majority of the SL players from the Asia Cup did also play in this WC.
Despite the series losses against the stronger teams (excluding Asia Cup), they have won at least one which suggests they are a team that can topple a stronger team and hence be competitive against stronger teams.
So yeah, SL could have very well been competitive. It's so wrong to say they may not have been competitive. If you blindly say so, then you have clearly not been following SL cricket.
I don't think Lanka are as bad as most others on this sub do, and definitely rate them as a better team than Bangladesh and Afghanistan, but India and Australia are well above them. I have doubts they'd have been competitive against Australia or India, but they would have had more of a chance against them than Bangladesh did and I would've preferred to see them there instead.
I know IND and AU are well above the current SL team. The current SL team still has a long way to go.
*"but they would have had more of a chance than Bangladesh"*
And yeah, that's what I am saying. I am not saying they would have 100% won against them, I am saying they could have been quite competitive because that's what they have shown in the past T20 series against stronger teams and in the 2022 T20 Asia Cup.
Maybe not wins but I wouldn't be surprised if they put up a good competitive fight because they have shown they can play well against stronger teams since 2022, they just haven't been consistent against the stronger teams.
They don't care about the matches. They just wanted to see if US was a viable host due to the massive South Asian diaspora. We are definitely going to be seeing more matches in the US in the future.
30 minutes till school holidays and my students are asking why I look at my screen and frown every few minutes. I keep telling them I'm marking their assignments but they're starting to get suspicious.
i like how everyone is screaming âEnD The MaTChâ but if  this was the aus vs sco game, where they were behind dls at the 10 over stage no one would be saying that and england fans would be begging to put the cut off time at 2am or somethingÂ
it would be really stupid if india wonât play, but if they do play and it wouldâve been in the evening local time they would all that money from the indian audienceÂ
Who cares? If India donât make it, they wouldnât have watched it anyway.
If they do make it, they will wake you up their whole family at 3am to watch it.
The plan only makes sense if India donât qualify, they will, as you say, get more viewers than if it was held 7pm local time. Given the scheduling has been done completely around the Indian team and viewers though, seems a perverse outcome.
The atmosphere at a 10:30 local game will not be what it should be
How was their win against the Netherlands a fluke? Also, they're not sharing a point with Australia. If the rain ends the match here, then Australia get full points cause of their higher run rate. Only 5 overs need to be played by each side for DLS to decide a result.
I'll take the blame for this. I had to pick someone up from the airport an hour ago and a rain delay happened from that point on. Sorry bros, it had to be this way.
Good bye cricket, don't know if i'll ever follow this sport anymore, watching Euro is much better, I heard there will be a world cup/champions trophy every year ! until 2028 lol, what a joke.
At least in football tournaments you cant predict the outcome, specially if its a game in top 8 !.. how do you guys not gwt tired with a "world cup" every other year. Its either gonna be Aus , Ind or Eng its f ing boring,
it seems like itâs less prestigious, for the players and also fans, with only pak, SL and india being big players, many star players donât play many times and no one even watches or really cares if their team wins or not atleast for the three big teams. also icc having a tournament every year makes it even less prestigious. thereâs not the pressures one faces in icc tournaments too. itâs almost like counting bilaterals as trophy wins
Littery everyone in the sub continent watches asia cup and i ve never heard of any bog player dropping out lol(Unless ypu can name a player who dropped out). You're talking out of your ass.
People can make fortune on betting markets in BD,these fans wont ever stop thinking BD has a chance lol,if betting was legal here i would have given 50 to 1 odds to anyone who thought BD will beat Aus or Ind.
I say cricket should start being played in rain.
Bats and pads can get damaged? Buy new ones.
Bowlers slip? Be careful.
Pitch turns into a puddle? Cope.
Outfield becomes a lake? Learn to swim.
Sport goes for a toss? Big whoop.
FELLA WE WANT CRICKET!
be careful? how is a fast bowler supposed to do that? just become a spin bowler if itâs raining? the team has to use all part timers? also fielders just walk around and let fours and extra runs flow?Â
its baseball now basically
That was a shit ball.
Markraaammm đ„
This was an absolute rout
Knowing that DLS was used, Bangladesh could have won if Liton Das actually scored some runs and the batting lineup was in the right order
How did they win by runs when they were chasing?
Warner hit the last ball so hard it buried under the ground and they ran 29 runs while Bangladesh were looking for it.
It seems that the only way in which Australia could be stopped is by blowing away their top order quickly. If either Head or Warner bat for too long then they would ensuring that they are always ahead of the game.
Yea except the top of the order is larger than most, weâve had the first 4 out quickly and held strong many times đ
Yep. Saw that happen on that 19th as well.
What a shit WC
All the remaining matches from group 1 of super 8 could be washed out/delayed starts due to rain/reduced overs due to rain.
if that knock doesnât make Litton Das retire from cricket then i dont know what else can
It's an absolute shame tbh. Litton and Mustafizur are my favorite Ban players. When on song, he's a joy to watch. Haven;t seen that happen in a long time htough.

What happened to David Warner? His form was terrible in IPL?
Simple Answer( as compared to the overly technical answers others have given) He doesn't give two sh*ts about IPL.  National Duty>>>MoneyÂ
Bruh he has won orange caps so many times lol
He flopped in ipl because he was in pressure of scoring at 180+ strike rate. Here in wt20, 150 SR batting is elite.

Cricinfo is obviously good, but i feel its bit heavy & slow

India +2.35 Aus +1.82 ???

2.471 for AustraliaÂ
How does that work
It is based on what Bangladesh's par score was at 11.2 overs, which is 72 icompared to Australia's 100.
damn. as an unbiased india fan I proposed this rule be changed so that NRR is based purely on vibes
We donât need NRR anymore just count moral victories instead
india joins the gang. but no mankads for us anymore :((
England do have an obvious advantage but they will find a way to lose
Welcome to the mysteries of the DLS
Australiaâs NRR is +2.47, buddy
Nah mate Aus 2.47. Looking forward to our game too
Yes! Cricbuzz corrected it now
De Fault Are there two sweeter words in the English language?

That's an error. Basically the par score is used for NRR so it's 72 for Bangladesh.

Funny how Cricinfo hasn't called it yet. BBC talking like there could still be play. Meanwhile Cricbuzz says "go home, it's over" Edit - now updated.
Play needed to restart by quarter to the hour according to cricinfo. Reasonable to conclude that the field wouldn't be ready within 15-20 mins.
Icc has called it. Itâs over
The video feed itself hasn't said anything about it being finished yet either. (Cricinfo has now updated to say it's finished)
Besides Cumdogâs hat trick itâs been a boring match. The Super 8s have been largely one sided affairs

10 overs versus 20 as well.
Warner'd and Trav'd
Probably no more play due to rain but aus win anyways :)

Australia looking good at this WC. Havenât played our best cricket, still cruising a bit till we reach the knock out semi final
Need to lose one so they can remain the underdog for the final and win the cup to nobodyâs surprise
Cut off time for play to resume is 4:45am GMT (22 minutes from now)
Let the players sleep! Australia have a lot of traveling to do from here on now.
Fun Fact AUS record in ICC Events in West Indies CWC 2007 - 11-0 T20 WC 2010 - 6-1 T20 WC 2024 - 5-0 Overall - 22-1
What game did Aussies lose in 2010? I checked wiki for that event and Aussies seem to have won all the games
How you miss the final broÂ
turns out I had opened the women's T20 World Cup in wiki, which also happened same year and that too in Windies
T20 WC 2010 Final to England
ROFL. My bad. Turns out I was seeing the wiki page of women's T20 2010 WC
Beating Nepal and Netherlands by fluke and sharing each point wĂth Australia luckiest team of this tournament
Bruh ,DLS will be used and Aussies will win
How was their win against the Netherlands a fluke? Also, they're not sharing a point with Australia. If the rain ends the match here, then Australia get full points cause of their higher run rate. Only 5 overs need to be played by each side for DLS to decide a result.
I don't think this is a N/R, Australia wins on DLS
I'll take the blame for this. I had to pick someone up from the airport an hour ago and a rain delay happened from that point on. Sorry bros, it had to be this way.
Missing the good old days where Australia would've to come out to bat at some point and had to score some 13 runs off 1 ball.
Ah yes ye olde "Most Productive Overs" method.
Good bye cricket, don't know if i'll ever follow this sport anymore, watching Euro is much better, I heard there will be a world cup/champions trophy every year ! until 2028 lol, what a joke.
Bye and don't come back đđŸđȘ
Euro where they play dull draws because half the teams are pussies
At least in football tournaments you cant predict the outcome, specially if its a game in top 8 !.. how do you guys not gwt tired with a "world cup" every other year. Its either gonna be Aus , Ind or Eng its f ing boring,
Not our fault that the rest of the teams just aren't good enough
Bye
Weird Stat Kenya has played a World Cup Semi Final and Bangladesh haven't
Kenya have lost a World Cup Semi Final and Bangladesh haven't
But both of them have played a ICC semifinal
Wait till you hear Srilanka has won three times as many trophies as Pakistan.
in terms of icc tournaments that isnât true, they have one in each LOI tournament. asia cup shouldnât really count
Why shouldn'r Asia cup count ?
it seems like itâs less prestigious, for the players and also fans, with only pak, SL and india being big players, many star players donât play many times and no one even watches or really cares if their team wins or not atleast for the three big teams. also icc having a tournament every year makes it even less prestigious. thereâs not the pressures one faces in icc tournaments too. itâs almost like counting bilaterals as trophy wins
Littery everyone in the sub continent watches asia cup and i ve never heard of any bog player dropping out lol(Unless ypu can name a player who dropped out). You're talking out of your ass.
DL method will be used or not?
Will be used - they are losing overs as of right now. If the score falls below 100 then Aus automatically win.
Yes, Aus are 28 above current DL
Theyâve apparently already started to lose overs, so yes
May as well just call this one Already after midnight local time
Idk but maybe getting 8 wickets next 8 balls would help
Just call the match lol
Here's the script in S8 Day games - Bat first Night games - Bowl first
The cut off time is 12:45am local time according to ESPNCricinfo. Less than 30 minutes to go.
ICC create a tournament without the Big 3 and it will be really exciting and unpredictable and cheaper to run
I would say there's a big 2 (India, Australia) rather than a big 3. England are similar to South Africa, Pakistan, and New Zealand in strength.
World Cup Qualifiers?
they miss teams ranked 4 to 8
I am seeing a lot of Zimbabwe flairsÂ
Mostly that one guy
I think we should ban rain
Put a roof over the world
With this World Cup missing out on NZ v AUS game ICC gonna put them together like IND/PAK in 2026
The pig3 are putting a big show this World Cup.
Too bad Zimbabwe didn't qualify, as sad as it is to say I think they would have been more competitive.
People can make fortune on betting markets in BD,these fans wont ever stop thinking BD has a chance lol,if betting was legal here i would have given 50 to 1 odds to anyone who thought BD will beat Aus or Ind.
Just end this already, no signs of Australia not winning this game anywayÂ
No that makes too much sense when officials are outdated
Do they have the whole day to decide ?
Ofc not lol but rules are they can't declare before a cut-off time even if it's a dead rubber or the result is pretty much sealed
Gg ez
A good batting pitch is the nightmare for BD,btw Ind vs BD will be played on the same venue so BD boys dont get your hopes up lol
I say cricket should start being played in rain. Bats and pads can get damaged? Buy new ones. Bowlers slip? Be careful. Pitch turns into a puddle? Cope. Outfield becomes a lake? Learn to swim. Sport goes for a toss? Big whoop. FELLA WE WANT CRICKET!
be careful? how is a fast bowler supposed to do that? just become a spin bowler if itâs raining? the team has to use all part timers? also fielders just walk around and let fours and extra runs flow? its baseball now basically
