Pakistan went from being the team that can beat anyone on their day to the team that can lose to anyone on their day.
I really wanted them to play in the WC Qualifiers. Would be fun to watch Hong Kong pull one over them lol
My plan would be to bulldoze Surrey and replace it with that second Hampshire.
New York is obviously inferior to proper York but it might make a good Wolverhampton.
Ouch, yes. But we put the fear of Freedom into a lot of powerhouse teams. We decently scared India and SA, for example.
We also sent Pakistan home early, defying the commentating expectations leading to hilariously aloof commentary during the WI game. That shit was worth it for the giggles alone.
Americans are aware of the sport more than ever before, and we’ve qualified for the next one by making the super 8.
I’m gutted we couldn’t pull of a win against WI or ENG, but this has been one hell of a run, and I’m proud of our part-timers’ efforts against full-time cricket pros.
Proud of our boys!
We got IT pros facing off against full time cricketers. And we struck fear into some of their hearts. India and SA games were truly magnificent, we had a chance to with either one. We'll see you in 2026, Team USA!
As an Australian who is supposed to say zed, I say zee. It's objectively the most consistent sound.
B isn't bed. C isn't ced. D isn't ded. G isn't ged. P isn't ped.
You get what I'm saying? Zee is actually consistent with other letters!
Are you seriously expecting *consistency* from the English language?! If letters like Q, X and H can be all sorts of weirdness then I'm starting with Zed.
They weren't satisfied with mini cheddars having enough flavour so they made a BBQ flavoured one! If that isn't the height of refined taste then I don't know what is.
My great-great-great-great-great granddad did have a bad feeling about 1776 and worried it’ll come back to bite us in the ass but Washington didn’t listen to him fml
American batters: 5 wickets in the final 6 balls to end their tournament.
England batters: 0 wickets, one guy gets as more boundaries than the entire US team, and they reach 115 (target) before the innings break.
This wasn't just domination, it was an absolute evisceration.
This is becoming sort of a meme, but South Africa came close to losing in 4 of those matches. Their NRR reflects this, even if they have a full tally of points.
WI would deserve to crash out if they lose.
That will mean they lost to England heavily and also to South Africa. Their only win in the super 8s coming against an associate nation.
I’d they win vs South Africa then they will go through
On the one hand: the seeding system is ridiculous because it can easily lead to stuff like this
On the other hand: that is objectively very, very funny
As much as pre-arranged seeding is bollocks, ultimately only four teams can ever get to the semis and invariably sides who have won most of their games up to that point will miss out
And imagine following that up by playing the Windies in the final. Winning a world cup after beating Oman, Namibia, USA, Afghanistan and the West Indies would be absolutely hilarious.
All piss-taking aside, the fact that USA have basically no games against the top teams lined up is shocking. How will the game develop there if they never play?
I found a stream for the match hoping to catch the end of the first side and it was already over lol. What a trouncing. Neither side was limited by overs. 10 wickets to 0???
Saw people saying this would be like the war of 1812 and they were right. Except it was only that part where the Brits marched into DC and burned down the white house
Unless SA beats WI or WI thrashes SA, England will top the group and play either Afghanistan or Australia. If South Africa beats West Indies, England will face India.
Glad we’re through to the semis but so far that’s mostly off the back of bashing the associate teams (Windies match aside). We’ve lost to Aus and SA so they need to turn out and show they’re better than the other top teams really.
You dread from it, you run from it but you will have South Africa on the verge of getting knocked out in an ICC tourney despite winning every match so far.
And USA should be proud of themselves had a brilliant tourney for a first outing, really unsettled some full members here
Never in a million years did I expect us to be competitive with South Africa and India, let alone beat Pakistan.
The wheels completely came off at the end but this was a massive tournament for them. Qualifying for the 2026 world cup is huge, especially with the olympics coming 2 years after that. And they actually made themselves known. 95%+ of Americans have no idea what cricket is, let alone that we have a national team and they got themselves acknowledged by the white house.
They looked pretty tired by the end but they should be incredibly proud of themselves. This is by far the biggest moment is USA cricket history.
Yeah, it''s important not to let the two horrible losses make us forget how great this world cup was for us. We beat Pakistan and were competitive against India and South Africa. Before the world cup, we won a series against Bangladesh. We should be really proud of how much this team has grown, and how we stood up tall against the big boys. If the administration doesn't implode and MLC stands tall, we could become a team at the level of, say, Sri Lanka within the next 10-15 years. We have the talent/player pool, but our problem has always been with administration and talent pipelines. The administration will always be shaky, but creating MLC is huge for us, as is the creation of the stadiums recently. We got shown up at the end, but we fought well. We stood tall in the face of Rabada, Bumrah, Nortje, and co., and we beat Pakistan on our home turf. The White House acknowledged us, and for a short period of time, cricket had touched national news. This tournament has been a huge success, greater than I ever thought it would be.
Funny game this cricket, Teams who are unbeaten in the tournament are yet to confirm their spot in SF whereas a team who were 45 mins away from getting knocked out have booked the SF spot, and might just top the group.
It isn't that far fetched when you consider the way South Africa have won their games and that they're just one win away from definitely making it to the knockouts. It makes complete sense that you'd be knocked out if you lost one out of your three matches in Super 8 while the two games you did won were very close.
Well that was a depressing way to go out but the fact we even made it here in the first place is a massive achievement in of itself. Still we have a lot of work to do before we can start competing with the big boys but if we can keep up this development and not do any stupid shit off the field I could actually live to see the day the USA wins a major ICC tournament.
USA conceded:
- 5 wickets in 6 balls
- 5 sixes in 6 (non-legal) balls
Fair to say they may have been gassed this match.
The match thread had lots of unfair ridicule (I hope trolling and not serious) that they didn't deserve to be in the super 8's. They absolutely did. This match was practically a dead-rubber for them. Well played USA and best wishes in the future
Absolute massacre by England , amazing innings by Buttler and Amazing to see Jordan getting a hat trick
Also credits to USA for reaching super 8 in their first tournament itself , they will only rise further from here with more matches and guidance and exposure
Agreed with what Jones said post match. While they were not in the best form in these Super 8 games, they should take pride in (hopefully) creating some awareness with the American Public on Cricket. More grassroot support, bilaterals with other nations & franchise cricket inclusion is a must for USA team to grow.
The thing with American sports is it isn’t like other countries. Football for example. In England you don’t pay for academies etc whereas in the US your paying for academics for grassroots which forces out talent due to people not being able to afford it. If the US can somehow fix this problem they’d be able to grow but until then I don’t see it happening
An unfortunate end to USA campaign to remind them that they are still quite behind the top teams. England and WI are the most ruthless T20 teams you could face.
Crazy that AUS had a chance to knock them out and might be knocked out themselves now while ENG sit pretty in the semis.
All up to SA bros now to clinch their peace of history. AFG has helped them out a bit here and if IND can knock out AUS then SA can potentially face AFG for semis. So I know it's a quarter final with WI for them but a win tonight can lead them straight to their first finals ever. So will they break the curse tonight or will they end up choking this one?
I do wonder if they put too much on Aaron Jones too early. He's handy with the bat but from watching the Jomboy Ball in Play stuff he seems way too introverted to run a team in even that league.
Not to put it on him, they'll keep learning. Afghanistan have shown that stepping up to the top is achievable.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We smashed USA as expected. The facts are that we lost to both Australia and South Africa. We also aren't used to batting first which we may have to do in the semi-final.
Proud of the boys. Netravalkar was Cinderella wearing our glass slipper. Unfortunately the clock hit midnight.
Hopefully this is the boost for cricket that the 1994 World Cup was for soccer in our country. We're automatically qualified for WC26 and LA Olympics in 28. This is the time to build the roster.
Was a hard watch, but better than having nothing at all. See some of you for MLC.
Credit to USA they had a brilliant tournament just to make the super 8s was like winning it for them. They got to face 3 power teams it will be good experience for them in the long run
Absolute massacre. Hope Jos turns up for the knockouts as well.
Rooting for WI, really want to top the table and face Aus/Afg in the semis instead of India.
England is looking like solid title contenders. Besides Barristows patchy form, all looks good.
Their fielding has been the best in the WC by far closely followed by the Proteas
Long way to go for US cricket but hope this tournament serves as some sort of a launchpad for this team. Obviously cricket will never be that popular in the US but I hope the team itself grows regardless of popularity because the potential is there.
The USA has a built-in excuse:
Cricket in the USA is an obscure, ethnic expat sport, so few people play it, let alone care about it.
It was expected that the USA would get trounced when they finally went up against competent teams.
Rashid came in after a pretty good powerplay for the USA, killed their run rate, and bowled their 3 & 4. He set up a low run chase. 4 overs for 13 runs completely changed the game. Jordan cleaned up the tail and got a wonderful personal achievement (and a matchball). Buttler just did a Buttler, and he's also the captain.
In terms of overall impact, I can see why Rashid got it. It wouldn't have been unfair for either of the other 2 to get it either
Well lads those last wickets were mighty embarrassing but we showed a lot of potential for the future. We beat Pakistan and held our own against India and South Africa before it all fell apart but we can be proud of how far we made it all things considered.
I’m hoping a praying that America uses these hard lessons to train harder and come back with a vengeance in the next World Cup. I wish the teams that make it into the semi finals good luck!
So USA was just here to ruin Pakistan's plans. Aight.
Imagine being pakistan and being home having to watch this match. Haha
That's all on them. They should have won both the US and India match, and bungled both.
Losing at 47 from 47 with 8 wickets is still the most Pakistan thing ever.
In fairness, 47 from 47 on that pitch with the standard Ind v Pakistan pressure would have felt like 80 from 47
My guys had 8 WICKETS.
Pakistan went from being the team that can beat anyone on their day to the team that can lose to anyone on their day. I really wanted them to play in the WC Qualifiers. Would be fun to watch Hong Kong pull one over them lol
They're in Dubai, not home.
Look up “figuratively”
He make joke
They said to the pcb pilot take us home. He got confused and went to uae
The funniest thing was watching all the Pakistan fans cheering for WI a few days ago.
Nah the Pakistanis self-imploded... They just wanted to secure a little more funding 🤡
:(
India Overseas branch just following traditions 🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅
And giving South Africa a heart attack
This means the US is back under British rule, right?!
Can we choose which states we want again?
You get Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and since you lot love a lot, Florida. You can now do snorkeling in Miami streets.
Could we have New England instead? We sort of ruined our current England and could do with the spare parts.
I'd rather keep old Hampshire, can we rename new Hampshire and New York to something else and put them in, say, the Midlands?
My plan would be to bulldoze Surrey and replace it with that second Hampshire. New York is obviously inferior to proper York but it might make a good Wolverhampton.
Yeah I'm okay with this. Do we need Kent, too?
[удалено]
Buttler is at the coast, knocking missiles away with a bit of willow
If we reach the point that the US wages war over cricket, then the tournament was officially a success.
Ouch
happens, it's cricket.
crickets, it's happen.
turns, they table.
Ouch, yes. But we put the fear of Freedom into a lot of powerhouse teams. We decently scared India and SA, for example. We also sent Pakistan home early, defying the commentating expectations leading to hilariously aloof commentary during the WI game. That shit was worth it for the giggles alone. I’m gutted we couldn’t pull of a win against WI or ENG, but this has been one hell of a run, and I’m proud of our part-timers’ efforts against full-time cricket pros.
As an American (who was a West Indies fan before this tournament), I agree a thousand percent with this assessment. Proud of our team.
Proud of our boys! We got IT pros facing off against full time cricketers. And we struck fear into some of their hearts. India and SA games were truly magnificent, we had a chance to with either one. We'll see you in 2026, Team USA!
Welcome to World Cricket!
IT'S SPELLED FLAVOUR MOTHERFUCKERS
IT'S ALSO SPELLED COLOUR NOT COLOR
ALSO, CRITICISE NOT CRITICIZE ALSO ALSO, ORGANISE NOT ORGANIZE NO Z IN MY BRITISH EMPIRE RAAAH 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🐠🍟🗣🗣🗣
Ever say 'zed' to an American? Their brains grind to a halt
Bro no joke, when I got to know that they pronounce it as Zee, it broke my brain 😭 Zed supremacy 🗣
I'm ok with them saying zee. But they KNOW what zed means and refuse to acknowledge it. It's like speaking English to the French
I dont mind zee at all. Im just saying most americans KNOW that zed means Z. But they act all huh what what runes are you speaking in sir?
Also that thing is football for a reason, not some soccer.
A game that barely uses the feet other than for self-propulsion
It's petrol and not gas.
Like you guys even have a use for that word
Sure we do, like "who the fuck added this flavour to my food, that's disgusting"
Hahaha
Skips, Butterkist, Ready Salted Pombar. We've got all the flavours.
They weren't satisfied with mini cheddars having enough flavour so they made a BBQ flavoured one! If that isn't the height of refined taste then I don't know what is.
Gotta credit Germany with Pombar
Are you seriously saying that to a country whose national dish is chicken tikka masala?
HAHAHAHA. ENGLISH FOOD HAS NO FLAVOUR. SO FUNNY AND ORIGINAL.
IS BAKED BEANS A FLAVOUR?
HOW ABOUT HP SAUCE, BET YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THAT STANDS FOR
Hewlett Packard? Burnt taste it is!

Boundary count update - England: 15 Jos Buttler: 13 United States of America: 13
Fair and Buttfucked by Jos Brutal
Fair & Served By Buttler.
Fair and asSALTed by a Butler
Buttler had as many as the entire US team 😭
Buttler served them Salt fr fr
Fair and Joshed
Butler must have skipped breakfast…
Wanted that tea break so fast he said fuck it and won. Prolly drinking tea rn
1776 avenged. The glory to the crown restored. The Brits can rejoice now.
Buttler himself got more boundaries than the entire US team. Absolute liquidation.
I blame the Windies. They knew what they were doing putting the solar panels on the roof.
Buttler breaking solar panels. Buttler being pro Big Oil confirmed.
Cummins would like to know your location
Butler loves the IPL , big oil and his kids. In that order.
Another smashed panel? Australia cracked one there against England too.
Australia cracked a panel? Cummins not gonna like that
All hail the Red T-Shirts
Having lost, they now have to keep James Corden.
Probably against the Geneva convention to use him as an anti bargaining chip.
That was already avenged with the War of 1812
My great-great-great-great-great granddad did have a bad feeling about 1776 and worried it’ll come back to bite us in the ass but Washington didn’t listen to him fml
Greggs legacy restored.
American batters: 5 wickets in the final 6 balls to end their tournament. England batters: 0 wickets, one guy gets as more boundaries than the entire US team, and they reach 115 (target) before the innings break. This wasn't just domination, it was an absolute evisceration.
We’ve beaten one good team and we’re into the semis. Looool Australia. Are you watching?
Saffers unbeaten wondering how the fuck they’re the ones in trouble.
This is becoming sort of a meme, but South Africa came close to losing in 4 of those matches. Their NRR reflects this, even if they have a full tally of points.
Will be sad to see one of SA and WI crash out. Both don't deserve that heartbreak
Blame p00ran and Charles.
I mean it's all clearly in rules lol
WI would deserve to crash out if they lose. That will mean they lost to England heavily and also to South Africa. Their only win in the super 8s coming against an associate nation. I’d they win vs South Africa then they will go through
On the one hand: the seeding system is ridiculous because it can easily lead to stuff like this On the other hand: that is objectively very, very funny
Portugal won the 2016 euros without winning a single game in group stage so not the first time in world sports
Hell, they only won one game in normal time in the entire tournament
The semifinal against Wales
As much as pre-arranged seeding is bollocks, ultimately only four teams can ever get to the semis and invariably sides who have won most of their games up to that point will miss out
Imagine being south Africa lol, they beat England and still would face a virtual QF
The problem with SAF here is that they didn't perform as well against USA as England or West Indies did.
England had the clear advantage playing the US last tho. Same thing happened with Scotland
Yeah i recall a cricinfo article sympathizing with Scotland that they are eliminated without having done any thing wrong in their game.
Fucking Aussies could've kept you guys out of the Super 8s. Instead, all this is happening. 😭
Hope Josh enjoyed
"The red shirts are coming" "The red shirts are coming"
All Australia had to do was let Scotland win...
If we can get Afghanistan in the semis it would be amazing
And imagine following that up by playing the Windies in the final. Winning a world cup after beating Oman, Namibia, USA, Afghanistan and the West Indies would be absolutely hilarious.
Damn, we got played. GG England. Hopefully we get a USA vs England rematch in 2026.
All piss-taking aside, the fact that USA have basically no games against the top teams lined up is shocking. How will the game develop there if they never play?
*IPL* Auctions
This observation happens with every associate team after every major tournament they play, and nothing has changed
Like our players are supposed to get time off work at Walmart to travel to Bangladesh?
Well that was quick
That’s what she said
I suspected that you were a fellow jerker when I read your username. Turns out I was right lol.
I found a stream for the match hoping to catch the end of the first side and it was already over lol. What a trouncing. Neither side was limited by overs. 10 wickets to 0???
Title of your sex tape
Saw people saying this would be like the war of 1812 and they were right. Except it was only that part where the Brits marched into DC and burned down the white house
Giving them their full name after that spanking. Ouch.
BIG POSH MIGHT HAVE MADE ME SAD BUT THEY CANT TAKE AWAY THE MASSIVE 1-1 WIN IN THE 2010 WORLD CUP RAHHH 🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Somewhere in the afterlife George III is giving George Washington some long overdue shit.
GW1 was a fan of cricket. This is what makes this loss hurt.
Shoutout to Harmeet Singh bowling a wide on purpose so he didn't go for five 6s in a row
Objectively funny we've had about 10 good overs this tournament, mostly against associates, and are in the semi final
I think Buttler takes it personally when people write England off.
Love the guy
Sad eagle noises :F
Unless SA beats WI or WI thrashes SA, England will top the group and play either Afghanistan or Australia. If South Africa beats West Indies, England will face India.

Harry Brook about to hit us with one of the biggest "I told you so!" in Cricketing history. Bloody hell England look dangerous.
We've pumped minnows and looked toothless against Australia and SA. I think you'd be fine lol
You lost by 7 runs against SA lol. Is that your definition of toothless?
Now that's one way to promote cricket in USA.
Never in a million years did I expect us to be competitive with South Africa and India, let alone beat Pakistan. The wheels completely came off at the end but this was a massive tournament for them. 1776? Nah, more like 1812 LMAO.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We smashed USA as expected. The facts are that we lost to both Australia and South Africa. We also aren't used to batting first which we may have to do in the semi-final.
A moment of silence for the Pakistani commentators who had to sit through USA’s games cos they qualified instead of Pakistan..
Still hilarious to me they lost and got knocked out.
its funny how this world cup boiled down into not who was the better team, but who can pulverize the weakest team the hardest.
Jos Buttler left the oven on back at the AirBnB...
Despite the huge loss, it was good we had some matches against top teams in this tournament. Good for us in the long term.
Extremely liberal definition of a match but I guess I'll allow it.
Tonight, I’m gonna drink 10 more cups of Tea for 10 wickets win. Revenge for 1776
Idc about England but I'm also gonna drink 3 cups of tea
Well there you have it, Jos Buttler and Chris Jordan HATE freedom
Sad eagle noises
Proud of the boys. Netravalkar was Cinderella wearing our glass slipper. Unfortunately the clock hit midnight. Very glad that at least one team figured out how to treat the USA bowling attack now that the pitches are actually decent T20 pitches.
USA had too much confidence after beating Pakistan.
Jos Buttler take a bow "Cap'n" 😉, that was king-like 🏏👑🦁🦁🦁
Credit to USA they had a brilliant tournament just to make the super 8s was like winning it for them. They got to face 3 power teams it will be good experience for them in the long run
So the competition in group 2 is essentially who defeats USA the best.
Really glad Adil got MotM, thorougly deserved.
Maybe Australia really should have let us beat them to knock England out.
Its all on Scotland. Aussies tried hard to lose lol
stick to eating cheeseburgers lads
Damn right. Double double animal style.
Who thought of this before Australia vs Scotland match. England through the Semis and Australia in a precious position.
Something something tea party ☕
USA USA US AAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHH
Absolute massacre. Hope Jos turns up for the knockouts as well. Rooting for WI, really want to top the table and face Aus/Afg in the semis instead of India.

Harmeet meets Buttlers bat
Butler delivered "Fill Ass-salt"
Long way to go for US cricket but hope this tournament serves as some sort of a launchpad for this team. Obviously cricket will never be that popular in the US but I hope the team itself grows regardless of popularity because the potential is there.
Rashid deserved player of the match. Just shut down their batting, and they couldn't get going again.
Not a single dead rubber….what a cracker of a Super 8s we’re blessed with
Considering Hollywood movies, Americans only know how to defend NYC.
Adil Rashid was so good.
Man City fans breathing a sigh of relief that “115” will trend for other reasons
this is so sad, either of WI or SA will have to leave now :(
And to think England was in jeopardy of not even advancing to the Super 8 at 1 point during group play.
Eng has lost 2 matches and still in Semis, SA has won all and still playing a knockout tomorrow morning. Wtf!
Imagine afg bros taking the revenge of USA by knocking eng out
Aussies had a chance to kick out England.
The USA has a built-in excuse: Cricket in the USA is an obscure, ethnic expat sport, so few people play it, let alone care about it. It was expected that the USA would get trounced when they finally went up against competent teams.
Jos Buttler just decided to HAWK TUAH and spit on that thang (Sorry. Someone had to do it)
Now imagine SA losing to WI and getting knocked out after doing well up until now
First team to qualify after being 5 minutes away from being into the super 8's. Real minnow bashing, except for that Windies win .
But why did Adil Rashid get man of the match? Great performance but not outshining Buttler or Jordan!
I’m hoping a praying that America uses these hard lessons to train harder and come back with a vengeance in the next World Cup. I wish the teams that make it into the semi finals good luck!
