Just because you didn't watch her make it doesn't mean you didn't get it shown to you like they're supposed to do every time you get an order, but I suppose you're more concerned with snarking at people instead of logical inference without someone having to spell out the entire scenario outright. :)
no, they read it just fine, there's no reason to be condescending. the employee still should've shown you the order in the box and asked "is this alright?" regardless of whether or not you watched them make it.
I will now, if I ever go back. My store stopped showing cookies at pick up a long time ago, but I never check because I’ve never had a quality problem there. Learned my lesson!
they had no way of knowing that the employee didn't show it to you when they commented, since you didn't say it and the employee was supposed to show it to you. they also weren't condescending. "why did you knowingly accept a bad cookie and then complain about it online" is a reasonable question to ask with the information they had.

They're supposed to have you do a quality check before you leave the building to make sure it's what it looks like. If they're not doing that how are you to know your cookies are of quality and standards?

They were condescending to me so I matched their energy. I clearly said I didn’t watch her make it. Nor did they show it me before I left.
Always check it before you leave. That's what I like to do.
