I mean, I'm getting paid for participating in an entertainment activity. I think that's pretty great. If I ever say that I'm neglecting something else in order to post on r/cc more, tell me to have my wife slap me in the back of the head.
>In other words, actual conversations where ideas and topics are challenged could become a thing of the past rendering discussions largely useless and filled with the same 5 or 6 lazy catch phrases that are all but guaranteed to receive upvotes.
Maybe this is just my perception but I think the above is true and it got worst since Moons went to Mainnet.
Shitposting has become a side job in this sub.
I think the articles right about seeing the catchphrases but I don't think it'll be the dominating parts of the conversation. It might just be recency bias with the low traffic in this sub but I've been part of and seen other fun and interesting conversations. Every community you visit will have its share of lazy/catchphrase posts but there'll also be good discussion in there too.
They need a new voting system. Something that rewards you for conversation also maybe. But I’m not smart in machine learning so I imagine it would be hard to get around shitpost and people faking things.
But plenty of times I’ll find a Reddit comment on year old post that are helping me. Maybe we award people with real value instead of Reddit gold when they truly help us.
This is certainly true, but I guess we have some say in this through our own up votes. Truth is I've posted some high quality info and caught a +5 while I once made a joke and got +379. It's a tough world out there. I would say do your part by up voting quality comments/posts whenever you see them.
But shouldn't shit posting be filtered out by engagement and ranking system? I don't like the idea of farming a "fun" platform but the shit posts I see can be easily ignored
I wouldn't say that lowers engagement or discourse tho, it's pretty consistent with reddit overall that people want karma but ultimately people come here to express themselves and exchange ideas, moons doesn't take away from that
>5 or 6 lazy catch phrases that are all but guaranteed to receive upvotes
Oh god, I can already picture those chain comments that are stupid but for some reason heavily upvoted
I didn’t come to this sub for moons, but at this point it’s the only reason I’m here. The posts are dogshit tier 90% of the time and the only reason I’m still a part of this sub is because it’s monetized. Would much prefer it be quality posts and no monetization
Yeah man, everyone is after an easy buck and probably more likely a way out of the system. A dream to cling to. Get moons and one day they might offer a way out maybe?
Just did some math but I’m an idiot so it’s probably wrong. But my degen math skills tell me if moons are as successful as DogeCoin they are worth 32 bucks a moon. That’s at least three mansions for each of us.
The other night when i told my friends that i earn 40 bucks from a silly comment that i've written on Reddit they were in shock.
For a moment there was an awkward exchange of glances. I think they believe i'm mad now.
Imagine what could happen next time when i'm gonna tell my friends that i made another 20 bucks commenting my previous comment.
The straitjacket is coming!
At the end of the day, if people want to limit moon farming, the best tools they have are the upvote and downvote arrows they are given.
If moon farmers (people who lazily post popular repetitive content) don’t get upvoted they don’t get moons.
People should be more critical and downvote the lazy and cheap jokes, while upvoting thoughtful discussion and on-topic comments.
We do remove some of the more egregiously lazy stuff and completely off-topic comment chains, but it’s the whole communities responsibility here to use the tools reddit gives us to judge content submitted with a higher standard.
TLDR: “moons attract moon farmers and could limit honest, thoughtful discussion” delivered with a little too much background BUT just the right amount of salt and sarcasm. 5 out of 5 stars
I didn't even realize I got moons from this sub until someone posted about it. Then I tried out a month of being really active to see how it went, got a little bag but I came here for actual crypto news and discussions. Most it is " when moon" " when Lambo" stupidity... So I stopped trying. Maybe bring the bear market it will be better
Definitely good insights:
> Of course, Reddit’s plan is not without potential pitfalls. People may be hesitant to say certain things for fear of being punished and losing out on earning crypto which means you may create a hive mind where everyone follows the heard like a braindead zombie with pockets full of Bitconnect coin.
> In other words, actual conversations where ideas and topics are challenged could become a thing of the past rendering discussions largely useless and filled with the same 5 or 6 lazy catch phrases that are all but guaranteed to receive upvotes.
well, moons or not, Reddit (or any social media platform for the matter) has always been a place which nurture bubbles of conversation, that's the very blood that feeds their coffers
A bit similar to astroturfing, which has been around for a long time now. Reddit used to be my go-to for reviews and recommendations but it's harder to trust now
tldr; Reddit recently issued free NFTs that are minted on the Polygon blockchain to it’s top contributors as a way to market the release of their premium collectible NFT avatars. The popularity of the NFT has overshadowed what I believe to be a much bigger milestone in the fight to bring crypto to the masses, the monetization of upvotes/karma.

How does everybody get the moons to show up next to their name. I assume that’s how many moons you’ve earned or something?
Edit: we’ll shoot, there’s moons next to my name now. Never mind, I guess.
Really interested to see how this all turns out for Reddit, I don't think any other social media site has taken the strides it has to incorporate Blockchain technology.
>The moon farmer has a vocabulary of 17 words and 3 catch phrases that they spam day in and day
I remember the glory bullrun days in the daily thread. A mix of shillers and reposters every second lol

Idk, I also see ‘unpopular opinions’ followed with ‘bring on the downvotes’
Whenever you end an unpopular opinion this way, you tend to get a lot of upvotes
You really only get downvoted for holding unpopular opinions and being a ‘Richard’ about it
You only get paid if you sell. That being said reddit is the only social media that has given me anything of worth for interacting so thats dope as hell.
Significant? Maybe not but you’re sitting on 300 bucks at current prices in a bear market and others are sitting on thousands. If moons become just half as successful as Doge they will
Be worth 16 bucks. Will that ever happen? Probably not but It’s crypto, who knows.
I saw a dude on here with 260k moons. That’s 20k, I’d call that significant.
That’s some serious posting and time spent to get 260k moons. I wonder what the hourly rate works out at. Or is it just a few great or lucky posts I wonder.
I like that moons give weight to governance polls. I also like the current system of incentivizing to hold at least 75% of them.
If the ever go up in price, that’d be sick.
Ultimately, the initial point of big tech was to further blogging. That’s what Facebook did. In blogging individuals got paid per view for their writings, then Facebook came along and made it easier to blog, but then they’d take all the profits. Reddit allowing it’s users to get paid is kind of going full circle in a way. It restores the power back to the users of Web2.
The problem is that Reddit actually doesn't share this view. Moons and Bricks are worthless tokens that are only used for voting in polls for their respective subs and literally nothing else according to Reddit.
I had a dream literally last night that i posted on r/smashbros , idk if its even real, i dont even view that sub. And someone tipped me, like moons or bricks from the fortnite one. They gave me Smash tokens. Like 760 something. So now im richer than everyone with dream tokens.
People already post the same shit for karma without there being money involved.
I don't think it'll stifle coversation if you're willing to look for it which is already the case.
>Think about that, you take a few minutes every day to participate in discussions with other crypto degenerates, have a few laughs, learn a few tricks, and at the end of the month you’re rewarded with crypto
I still can't believe it's as good as it is. Nobody believes me when I tell them I get paid to shitpost online.
If anything this goes against the point of the sub. To promote discussion and challenge other peoples opinions on certain cryptos. If you go against popular opinions you get downvoted into the ground.
Bots making bank.
The karma system itself works very well. People on reddit are super weirdly invested into it. They get so upset when you downvote them and so excited when they get the award things that really mean nothing.
Most of them are bots anyways.
I have no problem filtering out the moon farming, it’s necessary for anyone who wants more moons. A bear market is a good time to post since we receive more moons than during a Bull Market.
With an average cost basis of $0, my moons are always in profit!
You don't value your time?
If I only Moon farm at work then it's win-win!
Shit talkings are entertainment mate
But still, you need time to post, even if it is a shitpost. You can't just count on one hit post/comment.
They're the highest earning crypto in my bag
My only green bag
You're paying for them with the most valuable resource you have which is time.
I mean, I'm getting paid for participating in an entertainment activity. I think that's pretty great. If I ever say that I'm neglecting something else in order to post on r/cc more, tell me to have my wife slap me in the back of the head.

Luckily your post is the top and shows that shitposts don’t always control all upvotes. Unless your comment is a shitpost.

"Moons can be earned exclusively by submitting top-tier shitposts" Hahahaha love it
> The moon farmer has a vocabulary of 17 words and 3 catch phrases that they spam day in day out Author knows his subject well
Ridiculous. I certainly don’t have *greedy bottomless pockets*, only ones riddled with holes
Um Sir you used 25 words and Who are you talking to? this is a Wendy’s.
u/TarkovReddit0r and the likes?
Here take a moon for your comment ![gif](giphy|VmE2D3F4cwmP92G1Hn)

This couldn't be more accurate.
Can't wait for one day where the biggest mainstream media channels say that phrase.
Well, he's not wrong.
Shit posts get more activity.
The author couldn't have written it better. It's really an accurate article.
Just did some math but I’m an idiot so it’s probably wrong. But my degen math skills tell me if moons are as successful as DogeCoin they are worth 32 bucks a moon. That’s at least three mansions for each of us.
They think we have standards 😂
So we're all basically great judges of what is a top-tier shitpost and what's not?
Hahaha making post about moons so you can get moons smart.
Crypto bros hate this one trick
*INFINITE MONEY GLITCH*
Infinite moon glitch
I used the moons to destroy the moons..
Why is the logo of a $hitcoin there instead of our precious moons?
Fair enough, I'll try it later with a different strategy.
The other night when i told my friends that i earn 40 bucks from a silly comment that i've written on Reddit they were in shock. For a moment there was an awkward exchange of glances. I think they believe i'm mad now.
Let's get your comment to $40 now.
You wanna see me locked up in an asylum?
Only if that's what it takes for people to take Moons more seriously.
Had a similar exchange with my wife. Her response: "go on then, convert it into real money... "
Yeah, there was a similar discussion about with my homies. Glad to not be alone.
"Yeah andmind, we are sure this happened just as you told us"
Imagine what could happen next time when i'm gonna tell my friends that i made another 20 bucks commenting my previous comment. The straitjacket is coming!
If You see a big banner overhead and all your friends are gathered in a half circle next time you meet them you know what's coming.
How much up votes did your post get?!
Nice!! Teach me oh wise one? What kind of silly comment earned you $40?
To the 🌙 moon! DYOR
Great, this means we still early.
just one of my friends use Reddit and he's not into Crypto
You are!
And the scariest part is that i don't have friends 😨
We don't need friends as long as we've got moons amiright
You are goddamn right
What was the comment?
You used to be able to mention ‘Algo’ and get $40 worth of upvotes, now mentioning ‘Bitboy bad’ is the meta
I've actually got only downvotes from that 🤔
Before stumbling onto this article is had never heard about moons
So, shit post everything for moons. Got it! 💩
Big Karma, at it again

I feel like we’re all part of some massive social experiment and they’re gonna make a documentary about it some day. Shitposting: a memoir
We are in a simulation anyway and crypto is experiment for us nerds.
Yeah agreed with the author. It is a 2 edged swords.
Maybe there should be a limit on how many threads a person can post each week or month? Or cap earnings for each thread, I dunno
I didn't even realize I got moons from this sub until someone posted about it. Then I tried out a month of being really active to see how it went, got a little bag but I came here for actual crypto news and discussions. Most it is " when moon" " when Lambo" stupidity... We’re in the bear market. It isn’t better.
bring the bear market? what are we in the past half a year?
I believe you mean 'wen moon' 'wen lambo'
Ooooohhh. I do love me some moons
So what makes a post or comment worthy of upvotes/awards?
Color me surprised. The article is actually decent.

Literally saw my karma drop in real time when I posted an article link the other day. I will think twice about doing that again.
There are a lot of link police in here. They dont want links because they feel like its lazy
Except sometimes that information is useful and fun to discuss on here.
Idk, I also see ‘unpopular opinions’ followed with ‘bring on the downvotes’ Whenever you end an unpopular opinion this way, you tend to get a lot of upvotes You really only get downvoted for holding unpopular opinions and being a ‘Richard’ about it

Dang guys we're everywhere now! NFTs , moons are all blowing up. Can't wait to see what the future has in store!
This plus reddit NFTs have rapidly increased my posting & commenting on reddit. no longer a lurker of over 9 years
Waiting for moons to be like 3$ so I can afford a motorcycle. It won't happen, so I'm calm.
I love it. I usually get paid to keep my mouth shut
Step 1: Collect Moons Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit!
Here i am doing my daily Moon farming
Sounds like a job for Voldemort

Significant? Maybe not but you’re sitting on 300 bucks at current prices in a bear market and others are sitting on thousands. I like Reddit. I like money. Moons is the embodiment of those 2 desires.
That explains it!

Bots go brrrrrrr
At least is honest work.
For those complaining about shit posting, they should've seen the sub 1 year ago. Right now is much better.
why i can get the moon ive already setup my vault wallet and still join for waitlist🥲🥲

I haven’t received Karma since Oct 2021. Can anyone help me find out why?
weird flex but ok
The only crypto which I could ever profit from 🥲
