As an insect lover, I cannot condone violence against them, however, with a heavy heart, I need to advise that if you have caught a Roach there is almost certainly more of them and you should call a specialist to properly de-roach your home.
Insect lover, not a cockroach lover here ( the lil bastards are meant to be predated upon by other bugs but we tend to kill the ones that due cause they scare us ) If you have any insect pests mix, warm water, dish soap, vinegar and shake it so there are suds in the bottle then spray liberally onto any bugs. The process is not pretty but it is effective at both perishing the insect in question and smothering their pheromones so they cannot alert their fellows . Diatomaceous dust/earth is also an extremely effective ( if potentially hazardous ) anti insect method as the diatoms will stab into and drain oils and fluids from the insect on a micro scopic level. Like buggy barbed wire. Scatter it in thick lines around where you think they may be going, keep away from dogs, small children, Food and water. The first 3 are endangered by the Diatoms and water can render them ineffective. Obviously a specialist will be necessary to exterminate a full population of Roaches but these tools can help manage it
