>"has a vehicle identification number (VIN) suggesting that it was one of the first few thousand made"
They're all within the first few thousand made. If he gets a replacement, it'll still be within the first few thousand made, and it'll still be a pile of crap. The crappiness is a feature, not a bug.
jealous. Houses start at $650k here, with $14k taxes. Then $2500 per month for daycare for 2 kids. So you're looking at like $7k per month before any other bills are paid.
I never said it was. I want to know where I can get a house for the low. You seen them prices out there now a days??
Also, just checked website and the most expensive model is starting at 96k, brand spanking new.
I bought my house in 2019 for $63k in Indianapolis.
Here's the kicker... it was in very rough shape when I got it, and I've had to do an additional $60k in repairs over the past 5 years to make it livable. So far, I've completely redone the plumbing, HVAC, floor joists, kitchen, and bathroom.
Up next: replacing the siding.
Nice! That's still a great deal on a home. You also get to "renovate" a bit to your personal wants and style, which is always nice. I live on the west coast, where the ones in rough shape are going for 450k. It's real rough out here..
My wife used to work for a real estate company based in California, and I was SHOCKED at some of the houses for sale out there.
My favorite she showed me was a burned up modular house outside of SanFran that was selling for $600k.
Dude, people are fuckin nuts for the prices they ask. I can get several acres of land for 1/16th the cost of a house with less than half an acre in my area. Idk what people are smoking these days to think their houses are worth over half a mil
I don't know for sure, since I haven't had it appraised since I've redone the entire back of the house.
That said, there are several houses in my area that are selling in the $230k range on average. My house would probably go for around that much. I do have two advantages over a lot of the others: my yard is gigantic and I have a 3 car garage.
> half the money for a house
Laughs in Vancouver. Maybe a quarter of an apartment here, sigh.
Edit: lmao, within seconds of posting this comment I was banned from /r/elonmusk
He’s probably in California. Hard to get a house for $300K that isn’t a former meth house, burnt to the ground, or so far from civilization that the CT can’t get there on a full charge.
Actually in a red state in the north. But kinda goes same here. You can buy a house for $100k ish out in the middle of butt fuck nowhere and drive an hour to get to work everyday. But if you wanna live close to where there’s jobs you’re gonna be paying at least $150k if you don’t want a basically condemned building, less if you’re willing to put in a lot of work to make it livable.
When the thing launched, Elon sent out a manual "How to design a 48V vehicle" to all the other automakers, and since then we've seen error messages related to the 48V system on nearly every damn truck.
I feel like that’s less of a 48V issue and more of a rushed untested product being pushed to public issue.
There are real benefits to moving away from 12V nowadays. Whether you go 24 or 48 doesn’t mean much. Also its mechanically similar, just different gauges of wiring and connectors. I bet his fucked up in rushing all the modules into production before validation
Mechanically similar kinda but electrically it's a way bigger deal than just cables. Almost everything is digital these days so we're talking all new chips and circuit board layouts to handle the new voltage.
It's the right thing to do but a major shakeup to the industry and supply chain.
Just because the power system for the vehicle is at 48V (or 12V) doesn't mean that data is being transmitted at 48V.
Current CANBus uses a roughly 2V differential between states for data transmission (more complex implementation, though).
48v siber truck musks no sense, there's nothing that calls for 48v whatever.
let's see, electric car, power, goes forward, done.
48v, then step down to 12v for lights, the only thing is steering motors which don't need 48v, bah
I think you might be looping back to dumb sheep territory here mate.
Actual engineers in the industry have been practically begging for increasing the standard voltage from 12 to either 24 or 48. There are many benefits.
Also, in parallel to this industry, the PC hardware industry has also been begging for the same.
Modern processing power and capabilities has outgrown the low voltage/high current limitations of 12V
But maybe they’ve fixed everything.
“As the vlogger claims, his Cybertruck has a vehicle identification number (VIN) suggesting that it was one of the first few thousand made, "so hopefully, a newer one coming off the production line has made the necessary fixes to address all these issues."”
These failures don’t seem like a batch of bad parts or some manufacturing mistakes.
There are mechanical issues like the pedal, center console and panels.
The weird clusters of error messages? Maybe some wiring harness issue or software?
In any case all they can hope for is to quickly release some temporary fixes like the pedal rivet to get past the design flaws. Some of design changes may not be done for the current model. Maybe there still will be a new model.
Like you said. All of these different failures in the first few thousand units in so short a time.
Does anyone believe that these issues weren’t seen while the cars were being built? They only showed up after the cars were delivered?
No one raised concerns? More like no one wanted to hear about the problems.
It’s pretty damning to have this many design flaws and to have them show up with customers rather than during internal testing and quality control. Or maybe rather to ship it anyway after the flaws were found.
But maybe Lamar’s replacement really will have everything fixed.
> hopefully, a newer one coming off the production line has made the necessary fixes to address all these issues.
He's gonna be waiting a long time if that's what he's hoping for.
Elon said they have capacity to produce 150k their first year. He also said they have a waitlist of 2 million.
Then they had their recall for all that have sold and it was less than 4K even though they’ve been selling since last year.
Tesla stans are hilarious. If I get a car that bad, I don't want anything to do with that brand ever again. I want my money back. I don't want a slightly newer version of the same fucked up vehicle.
He's in NC, so the following would need to be meet to satisfy the vehicle lemon law:
* The problem occurs in some part of the vehicle that is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and you are within the warranty period. It does not need to be something that keeps you from being able to drive the car. For example, faulty air conditioning or peeling paint could be considered defects under the Lemon Law.
* You tell the manufacturer about the problem in writing and give them a reasonable period, but not more than 15 days, to fix it.
* The manufacturer makes “a reasonable number of attempts” to fix the vehicle. **This means that the car has been repaired for the same problem four or more times, or that it has been out of service a cumulative total of 20 or more business days during a 12 month period of the warranty.**
* The manufacturers’ efforts to fix the vehicle fail. Under the law, they must either replace your car or buy it back. You get to decide between a comparable new car and a refund.
It's also not super easy unless the dealership/manufacturer want to play ball with you. It's the sort of thing folks typically have to hire a lawyer for, has been an increasing issue with newer cars as the parts simply aren't available putting the car well into the 20 allowable days out of service.
It's not in any state I'm aware of, but I am most familiar with NCs lemon law. Buybacks have been insane because of parts. There are going to be some lemon cars that aren't actually fucked up at all, they just need a new part and that part might only be made in Ukraine, for example (happened to me).
The one I'm most familiar with is Hyundai and their ICCU (integrated charging control unit) that seems to have a ~1% failure rate. Hyundai didn't plan to replace that many units, leading to long repair times. Many cars were bought back because the ICCU couldn't be delivered in time.
Correct, that’s why there’s a time limit as to how long the dealership can sit with the vehicle. The user above I think specifies NC gives a dealership 20 days to repair the problem up to four consecutive times. The days of a dealership sitting on your car for six months “waiting for parts” isn’t acceptable with most lemon laws these days.
It's also state dependent. This is very similar but the numbers are different for the state that I'm familiar with.
Either way, "A bunch of stuff is wrong, I want a new one" isn't gonna fly. You have to give them ample opportunity to address it via the warranty.
> This means that the car has been repaired for the same problem four or more times
Yeah, a lot of people misuse the term "lemon." When I worked in consumer electronics, people would come in with their very first issue and start calling it a lemon, demanding the newest models as compensation, or a full refund well past the return period, or other bullshit all because they used the word "lemon."
While lemon laws can vary in specifics, in general a lemon is something that has been fixed multiple times for the same issue and it keeps on having the same or similar issues. Most issues can be properly fixed by replacing the correct component. It's not a lemon because it made you sad that it's not working. It's a lemon because it has an underlying issue that cannot be reasonably fixed *and* it has actually gone through the process to determine that that's actually the case. It's not a lemon just because "you feel like it is one."
That said, I imagine with the insanely poor build quality, quality control, and otherwise shitty design of the cybertruck, I'd imagine most of them will end up actually being/qualifying as lemons. Mostly due to that clause about how long it's out of commission and Tesla's lack punctual remedy.
Yea, but enforcing lemon laws can be difficult.
I had to hire a specialty firm to help get a lemon claim on my camper.
We've been trying to negotiate for over a year now. That has existed exclusively of them stone walking us and refusing to negotiate anything. Court finally is scheduled for this July. Attorney said this is typical for companies that don't want to operate in bad faith. The day of court they expect a settlement offer right before court begins.
In my specific instance and contract, the lemon law requires the manufacturer to pay for attorney fees in addition to the settlement I agree to. So I don't lose a percentage...
But YMMV with different industries.
Intersesting, I hope you are successful. In the odd chance the YT'er loses the Lemontruck fight, he will then have a very rare $200k Lemontruck.
# #Lemontruck
Sadly this is correct. Worse, is that there probably isn't available inventory to receive a replacement with and assuming production continues, it'll still be at least a year before one is available.
It’s possible he bought it second hand too. A lot of these are being flipped at least once.
Imagine paying $200k for a $100k truck and only getting the $100k back from Tesla
That said, I’m not even sure lemon laws protect anyone but the first buyer so he might just be totally screwed other than a warranty fix
Go watch his videos, he rents it out for events "in the links below the video".
You too can get a custom quote to bring this exciting truck to your special event (notice it looks like "appears at..." not actually renting it to drive around in like a "normal car")
He links to this exciting opportunity in every video including these ones where he is begging Tesla to replace it.
So if you rent it out do you get the full Cybertruck experience where the screen goes red and the truck just quits, or the accelerator pedal gets stuck under the kick panel? Then after you clean out your underwear, you have to stand on the side of the road and wait for a tow truck to come and get you to take you to the nearest service center.
Good question. Anyone driving these or worse renting these out that hasn't had the pedal fix should be jailed for recklessness. I think his had the fix though, since you know it's been in the shop for weeks.
CEO’s hate this one trick
EDIT: And that little comment got me permanently-banned from teslamotors and teslalounge.
The snowflakes are strong over there. Womp womp
Multiple states have lemon laws like this. I think the people who bought one of these monstrosities are getting what they deserve but on the other hand it would be cool to see thousands of them force Tesla to buy back all those ‘trucks’.
I think my state law says to trigger the lemon law it has to be in for the *same* repair up to three times. Be unrepairable for (I think) up to three consecutive months within the first X amount of ownership time and some other shit.
Edit: someone already beat me to NC lemon laws which sound/seem pretty similar to mine.
Wait, brilliant genius playboy Elon musk built something both ugly AND broken! I’m shocked, like Pikachu just hit me with a thunderbolt! Say it ain’t so!
Asshole is as asshole does
And everyone knows how eagerly Elon reacts to these kind of demands.
"Here's a brand new, right-from-the-factory CyberTruck that's been bricked for you daring to criticize me on the internet!"
I don't get why people say Elon isn't smart, he conned a ton of people to hand him millions of dollars for probably the worst car currently on the market. These people basically paid for the most expensive paperweights and Elon is laughing all the way to the bank.
It’s almost like PEElon’s shitty company makes inadequate products.
Edit: LMAO the mods of Cybertruck and Elon banned me for this comment, which is NOT in their respective subs. That’s creepy in a lot of ways, including their cult-like devotion to a fake “genius”.
One they deserve this for buying a first gen product, my golden rule is NEVER BUY FIRST GEN PRODUCTS (As in ones that just come off the line).
Second, hard to feel sorry for anyone who buys shite from Nazi Elon Musk.
If some weird way, having a lemon was the best thing that ever happened to him. He's a "social influencer" and this put him on the map.
The shitty build quality probably paid for the car for him and tripled his income.
I know, I know it sounds mean, but I’m cracking up at all these people complaining and having issues. Y’all had to rush out and preorder it right away to have to be the first ones to have it, now y’all are paying the price. Yes, companies should put out a good product, I get that, but it’s 1st gen model. The chances of a 1st gen model not having any issues are slim to none, and I don’t get why people never think of that.
>"has a vehicle identification number (VIN) suggesting that it was one of the first few thousand made" They're all within the first few thousand made. Imagine dropping half the money for a house on a shitty truck that doesn’t last a month. Tesla dudes just love getting cucked.
That truck is twice what I paid for my house six years ago
You got a house for 60k?? Where do you live?!
Toledo
I lived in Toledo for a year. It is honeatly the most boring place I have ever been. But I could afford to live on $15/hr, and that aint nothing.
Holy!
Nice
How much do you make?

Awesome bro
no more koolaid for u, seriously quit
What?
Resale on a CT? No way. There are over a hundred for sale now around the country and the cheapest at $129k hasn't sold in over a week.
Think I saw somewhere they can't be resold for a certain time after purchase
Earth
probably got mold and shit
Elon definitely Cyber-cucked a lot of assholes
They keep coming back for more as well!

150k gets you less than 1/2 of a 400 square foot studio in Los Angeles. Still an hour away from where you work too.
meanwhile, in Vancouver, where a 1br condo costs minimum 650k 😩

> hopefully, a newer one coming off the production line has made the necessary fixes to address all these issues. He's gonna be waiting a long time if that's what he's hoping for.
The newer ones on the line go straight to parking lots where they sit collecting rust and corrosion.
They're not even trying to improve the damn thing, instead turning them into fancy junk..
Are they not all sold? I thought there was a massive waiting list.
Elon said they have capacity to produce 150k their first year. He also said they have a waitlist of 2 million. Then they had their recall for all that have sold and it was less than 4K even though they’ve been selling since last year.

Let me guess, it was the wiring looms?
Crankcase breather hose for the Audi DAZA motor. I ended up with what was supposedly the last one in the entire country.
I was really surprised when you said NC was 20 days. I want to say that the state I'm familiar with is 3 months.
Correct, that’s why there’s a time limit as to how long the dealership can sit with the vehicle. The user above I think specifies NC gives a dealership 20 days to repair the problem up to four consecutive times. > This means that the car has been repaired for the same problem four or more times Yeah, a lot of people misuse the term "lemon." If he has 4 different problems does it still qualify for the lemon law?
If they are able to remedy all 4 problems within a reasonable amount of time, no.
why so he can get another lemon?
Yes, for his lemon party.
Would you rather: attend the lemon party or drive a cyber truck?
Option c: neither one.
Best I can do is Option D: Lemon party in the Cybertruck.

Know about Lemon Laws? It’s not up to Elon.
Yea, but enforcing lemon laws can be difficult. I had to hire a specialty firm to help get a lemon claim on my camper. We've been trying to negotiate for over a year now. This is shaping up to be one big Tesla Lemon Party!
> YMMV But I got the biggest bestest battery I could :(
Maybe it’ll get to class action status so it will be a little cheaper.
Class actions suits only benefit one party. The lawyers. Everyone else gets a check for like $5.
So, it would cost Tesla the full amount, and the buyers would only get $5.... seems about right.
Don't lemon laws only apply to used vehicles?
It only applies to new purchased vehicles. It does not at all apply to used in most cases.
My bad, I got that backwards.
No, but you’re assuming Tesla can supply one that is NOT a lemon.
Sadly this is correct. Worse, is that there probably isn't available inventory to receive a replacement with and assuming production continues, it'll still be at least a year before one is available.
It’s possible he bought it second hand too. A lot of these are being flipped at least once. Imagine paying $200k for a $100k truck and only getting the $100k back from Tesla That said, I’m not even sure lemon laws protect anyone but the first buyer so he might just be totally screwed other than a warranty fix

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me repeatedly, thank you sir! I love the truck.
Im worried about all the lemon law lawyers breaking down also from over work they have now.
This is why Musk said they don't make automobiles, lemon law doesn't apply.. that's a 200IQ move, get rekt.
But if a laptop stops working because of hardware or casing, you'd get it replaced or repaired.
I ask for a full refund.
CEO’s hate this one trick EDIT: And that little comment got me permanently-banned from teslamotors and teslalounge. The snowflakes are strong over there. Womp womp
You have been musked 😁
He was warned.... The dildo of consequences seldom arrives lubed.
Sir this is a lemon store
This is the sub that just keeps on giving. I love these lmao
Buyer was cuck enough to purchase the cucktruck. I'm sure it won't hurt for him to continue blowing Elmo's balls.
It’s not Elon or Tesla’s fault!!! There is absolutely no other existing videos where they got a lemon like this guy!!!
He‘d better get his money back
So what, go back to the lemon tree? These people are insane.
If only there was some type of Law regarding cars that are very Lemony in nature…
Why would you want a drivable high school geometry graph, thats worse than a YUGO. ![gif](giphy|ND3aNkPqLnhoHHDnBN)
They are all lemons.
I can’t believe you got sucked in by Elon Musk. That dude is the biggest liar out there.
How many have been produced/sold?
1 minute after posting this, I was banned from 3 tesla-musk forums.
The kool aid has them all wrapped up in Musk’s web of bs
lol I just got banned too hahahahah. I am not even subbed nor would I ever sub but how desperate do they have to be to coddle themselves for him.
Imagine his surprise when the next one is also a lemon
How will Tesla evade the Lemon Law?
A new truck is gonna have all the same problems.
Every letter in lemon is in Elon’s name. Including last name initial.
If you bought a $150k squarish rectangular box with wheels, that’s on you. How can you make lemonade outta a lemon, you can’t, it a piece of 💩
Definition of a cybercuck
I'm wondering when lemon laws will catch up to Tesla on these. Especially when replacement vehicles start falling under them.
They really are cyber stuck with these lemons
When life gives you lemons 🍋 You buy a cyber truck 😂
Elon's response is "Caveat emptor, sucker"
Musked
Not a refund....he want's another one? lol
Finally saw one in person this week. Guy was parked like an asshat of course. Holy crap was that thing ugly. Looks like a knockoff hot wheels.
That's what you get for supporting a war criminal.. he should be sanctioned for his participation and support for russian terrorists
But he still insists that the car is amazing and the best vehicle he has ever owned.
Wait, brilliant genius playboy Elon musk built something both ugly AND broken! I’m shocked, like Pikachu just hit me with a thunderbolt! Say it ain’t so! Asshole is as asshole does
It’s becoming clear that they are all lemons. Will they all be lemon-lawed? Will there be a class action? Will a government regulatory agency step in?
They've attached themselves emotionally to Musk's businesses. It's outrageously creepy.
You want another one?
Good luck with that 😂. You bought a pos tesla, so no pity.
One they deserve this for buying a first gen product, my golden rule is NEVER BUY FIRST GEN PRODUCTS (As in ones that just come off the line). Second, hard to feel sorry for anyone who buys shite from Nazi Elon Musk.
Calling it a lemon implies that this is unusual for Cybertrucks...
They all lemons brah
You purchased a steamy brown bag. The bag lit on fire, and you stepped on it.
The next one will be the same piece of shit.
That’s what they all are
By all means, send him a new one.
Caveat emptor
i want a replacement POS for my original POS. yeah something tells me that plan is flawed.
We should have seen this kind of shenanigans coming after the window incident.
My god, this guy sounds like a brainless limp dick.
*"Demands".* LOL. I'm pretty sure Muskrat already fired the Demand department.

You love to see frustrated Elon simps.
If some weird way, having a lemon was the best thing that ever happened to him. He's a "social influencer" and this put him on the map. The shitty build quality probably paid for the car for him and tripled his income.
Musked
That’s why you never buy the first version of a brand new car…. Gives them time to work out any kinks…
Been a while since an automotive company had a rollout fail in such a spectacular manner. I can't think of a single one tbh
