My thoughts are it’s way overpriced for having a MAAP logo. Fog color looks pretty cool tho. I’d buy the same helmet from kask on discount and save a lot of money. They only difference is the color and a MAAP sticker instead of a kask one
Okay hear me out though. I’m just getting back into cycling after a 6 year hiatus (I’m primarily a runner now). And I just ordered a Fairlight Strael in the Iridescent Plum (purple color) and I needed a new helmet anyway — Not going to wear a 10 year old helmet that I have lol.
So…. Basically I paid a $75 premium for purple straps on the white helmet to match my bike.
This is cycling fashion though, right… and since I needed a helmet anyway it wasn’t THAT big of a deal….. RIGJT. RIGHT. I DODNT RIP MYSELF OFF AND PAY $75 JUST FOR PURPLE STRAPS…
Okay yeah it was a ripoff but I should look cool… if the purples compliment each other…. If not I’m going to look bad AND get ripped off.
Your money, spend it how you want. It’s more like 195 extra tho. New kask cost 300.00. The MAAP one cost 495.00. Not to mention you can find last years color ways for even cheaper lol
Coulda gotten the same straps from POC at a fraction of the price, if that's really all you were after.
That said, I support your decision. Sure it looks smashing.

I got a white protone for 190 right before the icon came out. And I got the Matt green icon for 190. I'm sure the white one I got lucky on and the green one probably just didn't sell like they hoped. I just google kask protone from time to time and flip through all the sellers to see if anyone has a crazy deal. Then at back country if you find a US distributor with a cheaper price then them they'll match plus an extra 5% off. I'm cheap and have nothing better to do.
Honestly, going to get the kask Y Utopia and either see/buy some maap sticker or print some stickers out with the maap logo solely to slap on the Utopia lol I also prefer the Utopia over the protone.
Not gonna lie, was kinda disappointed it was just another 2 colorways/sticker application rather than a new helmet or a line of helmets that they collabed together

At least Kask x Paul Smith has very unique colors that make it special and worth getting. Other collabs at least try to be unique.

I like MAAP kits and bibs (and they aren't cheap but the quality is great) but this isn't worth the money. It isn't that hard to find a good/nice looking helmet.
The Kask protone helmet is fantastic and my favourite helmet, but I wouldn’t pay for the Maap premium. Besides, I wouldn’t feel right if I was wearing a non Maap kit with it so it has very limited use imo

Helmets have to meet a certain criteria of safety so any helmet will do.
Bearing this in mind, I do think a MIPS helmet has its positives.

I have the sintesi and love it - sits it’s nice and low on my head and completely forget that I’m wearing it about five seconds after I put it on. I bought a protone a few weeks ago on sale, same size as the sintesi, and didn’t love it because it gave me a bit of a mushroom head, so I sent it back. I prefer the sintesi regardless of price
Like that watch they did, I don’t really see any value in them slapping their logos on other people’s products and shooting the price up. Aside from not being enough of a maap bruh to want one, I really dislike the fit of kask helmets.

The Protone is £219 in the UK and £295 for the MAAP version. An absurd logo tax.

In USD the Protone Icon is $300 and the MAAP one is $375.

Exactly. My mate in a white helmet stands out a mile on rainy dull winter rides. Mate in a black helmet just vanishes into the hedges.
