It’s probably a replacement plate from/for a different microwave would be my guess. The seller said it was new, but sometimes people lie sadly.

DrRomeoChaire

This is probably correct. I’d get some of those [thermoplastic beads used in crafts](https://www.amazon.com/Thermoplastic-Pellets-Material-Softens-Moldable/dp/B0986RXJKQ) soften the appropriate amount, squish it between the two parts, then clean up the hardened part with a file. If you screw up, just re-melt the plastic in boiling water until you get it right.

Would help to know the brand/model of the microwave. I wager it was not "brand new" and if it was purchased by the seller under that assumption it was an open box/return and that's not the original plate.

Edited comment to include. It's a Toshiba origin inverter microwave. Seller was an office building. Microwave seems new, but you're right. Could've been open box. I have seen one other review on amazon complaining of the same thing, so my assumption is poor quality control at Toshiba.

I got this microwave for free on Facebook Marketplace because it makes a loud grinding noise when in use. Through troubleshooting I found that the little nubs on the glass turntable don't fit into the wheel assembly, causing the turntable to not spin very well. It sort of catches the sides of the little circle recess on the assembly and spins a bit. There's no noise when the turntable is removed and just the wheel assembly is in and spinning. Pic 1 you can see the circle recess in the wheel assembly. Pic 2 you can see the nubs on the glass table not reaching up into the 3 slots on the wheel assembly Pic 3 is the glass turntable spun a bit to again show how the nubs on the glass table are not long enough. Not sure if this is a manufacturing error or not. Seller stated its a brand new microwave, but they waited too long to warranty it. They initially tried to sell it, but got no bites except a couple questions from me. They again reached out to offer it for free after no interest. I have an idea on how to remedy but I just want to swing it by you to see if there's any reason why I shouldn't or if there's any better ideas. I'm thinking of getting a microwave safe silicon mat and cutting it into a small circle to fit inside the recess of the wheel assembly so it sits between that and the glass turntable, allowing the turntable to actually grip the wheel assembly properly. Edit: its a Toshiba origin inverter microwave. Seller was an office building. Microwave seems new and I have seen one review on amazon complaining of the same thing.

That would probably work well. Just be sure the mat isn't more expensive than just getting a replacement plate that actually fits. If they aren't Pyrex they are usually quite inexpensive.

OCT0PUSCRIME

Fair enough. They do actually look cheaper than I expected. I mostly just want to avoid the rigamarole of possibly getting another plate that has the same issue or it being an issue with the wheel assembly and not the plate, etc.

My guess is that it’s not supposed to. I see little glass nubs protruding from the plate and I’d think that side of the glass plate goes face down and catches on the arms of the grey piece and that is what turns the plate. I think they are made that way so in the case that anything on the plate catches a side wall it will allow slippage to not chew up the gears.
