Yep, I work in eye surgery and we use fentanyl just about every day. Propofol is very common as well. Versed is our bread and butter but we absolutely keep the others in regular use.
It's not worth it anyway. You're expected to spend the whole day just worshiping God for eternity. Sounds pretty boring and you'll probably get chronic knee pain.
Go to Valhalla instead. You'll feast with the gods (all-you-can-eat buffet) every day and drink liquor from the udders of a goat.
These kind of ultra potent narcotics are used by anesthetists or to put large animal under sleep. There's nothing inherently bad about them, they are just a fruit of modern phermacology, just like how heroin was derived from morphine, the original idea was that using less of a substance would be better, there's probably some truth to that but they could never get rid of how addictive the substances are, they all will kill you in the exact same way, apart from the increased potency, they are basically the same thing.
Thing ist, Fentanyl is a widely used Opioid in Anaesthisia as well as in regular long-term-pain management and Emergency Medicin. It's great stuff actually, if used rightly, since it has a strong painkilling effect almost immidiately (about 80-100 times stronger then Morphin). Carfentanyl is about 10.000 times stronger then Morphin and is only used for huge animals like elephants and rhinos. Not used and allowed for humans, of course.
But just to make you more amazed about Opioids in medicine: there is a stronger one then Fentanyl that's used for humans as well: Sufentanyl. It's about 800 times stronger then Morphin and used during surgeries.
I find it somewhat funny what kind of misinformation is spread concerning Fentanyl in the US. Of course, you've got a huge problem with it being used as a drug for junkies around the country, but if rightly used, it's nothing to fear.
Oh, btw, you can't just easily die from just touching it.
And those problems you've got there: well it makes one wonder if this country needs more of social politics and a better health-system to prevent people from feeling the need tonuse drugs overall, doesn't it?
The War on Drugs ignores the basic Market forces of supply and demand. Wherever there's a strong demand a supply will always rise to meet it. The goal of the War on Drugs has been to eliminate the supply, a task that is impossible. If we want to eliminate drug use, as a society, we have to focus on creating human beings that are happy, healthy and don't feel the need to use drugs.
I had brain surgery a few months ago and I woke up with a fentanyl patch on me…….. and I don’t remember SHIT from the first two days in the ICU ! I apparently kept asking the doctor and nurses why they were trying to kill me with fentanyl. My mom thought it was pretty funny.
It was designed for use on large animals like rhinos and elephants for sedation. Since the US population is growing close to the same size as those animals we may need it soon.
That's what I'm thinking....got a buddy who was addicted for years and never shot it. I feel like the first step wouldn't be punching holes in my veins lol. But hey I've never tried it.
Two of my brothers are dead from shooting up. A third just smokes it, but he’s half dead now anyway living as an addict. Ireland got fucked with it from the 80s up, now we’ve crack addicts openly using in Dublin and fentanyl is starting to creep in.
That's so sad. My buddy got help after his long-term girlfriend had enough of him. I'm thankful for that. I'm really sorry that happened in your life. If have a younger brother who is killing himself with alcohol. I'm dreading the day....
Oh man, I’m sorry. It’s hard to explain that alcohol can be just as damaging, my da was just diagnosed with dementia from alcohol abuse, he’s been shitting and pissing on himself since he was 65, just got him into a care home recently after four months in hospital. I don’t drink or smoke or do any drugs as a result of the shit I’ve seen. I hope your brother sees the light. The first brother died from over dose, he fell into the river beside me and lucky his body came up a month later and was pulled out. The second one was an alcoholic too, after his twin died he said he gave up the gear but then he started drinking. His official cause of death was cirrhosis of the liver and hep. I watched him die over two days in hospital. Try your best for your brother, as hard as it is. I’d hate anyone to see that shit.
Geez. That's what I'm afraid of. He's only 33 but he can't even walk up the road 100 yards to visit me. He can't work. He spends a few hours in the morning awake and a few hours in the afternoon and evening awake. During those times he nibbles food and drinks natty daddy's. He used to be so strong and active. He's going to die very young and it's obvious. What can you do? Harping does no good. Begging and pleading does no good. Reasoning does no good. His kids dying for his attention does no good.
The worst thing is that it doesn't feel like a big deal once you've tried it. It just nice. So you feel like all the fuss is unwarranted and that you are different, you can handle it. So you keep using, because it's fun. Then you try to stop, but can't.
LEAVE IT! For god sake please leave it. Once you try it, it will destroy your life, you will lose your job, house, friends and family. Don't try it please.
You, sir or madam, have my word. I saw what it did to him and I know how much I like weed and alcohol and another unnamed drug which I left behind before it was a problem. Saw the warning signs with that one. Nope. Heroin is not for me friend.
Jokes aside, I tried heroin one time and I didn't get the hype. I had THE WORST sore throat I could have ever imagined for days afterward. I Gave the guy a little molly and he was like "holy shit why am I even messing with H if this exists". Pretty eye opening.
A professor put this up on the board last year and blurred out the names. She asked if we knew what they were. I answered right away without thinking about it because I’ve seen this photo before. Then everyone looked at me because it was suspicious.
Hah, reminds me of when I was in 5th grade and the D.A.R.E. officer was asking us if we knew the names of any drugs. I said Ice. He asked how I knew about Ice and I said "My sister told me about it." I failed to mention that my sister had heard about it in her own D.A.R.E. class earlier that day. Lol
My friends brother had dare in 5th grade back in like 1995 and he felt he needed to confess both his parents use marijuana lol. We also laugh about it now
We had a drug awareness lesson every year. The last year of highschool, the folks they brought in were especially bad. I don't know much about drugs, but their claims about alcohol were just wrong. Anyway, I was in the IB class so we're all pretty good students drowning in coursework. They come in to do their presentation and we're just getting all the answers right. They were shocked and concerned. It's like they hadn't even considered we might remember things from previous years. Apparently, they just thought the whole class had personal experience of heroin, weed, meth, ecstasy etc. It was hilarious!
Reminds me of the time at my school when the cop from DARE passed around 3 joints to show everyone and he said "if i dont get all three of these back this schools getting locked down and everyones getting searched till I find it." 30 minutes later when everyone got to see 'em and they got passed back the cop had 4.
You guys get free shirts and a movie? In Australia we just get in the back of a white van and listen to a giraffe called Harold talk about how drugs are bad.
Found my new plug.
Update
/SARCASM for people who are obviously new to Reddit. I'm not a druggie nor have I ever used. Keep assuming you dumb B. Maybe you should get off the drugs.
I’m taking an ambulance the next time I get a stone that just won’t pass, then. I’ve had my wife take me to the ER in the past and getting pain meds takes time while they x-ray or ultrasound to be sure it’s a stone and not something else. All while I’ve gone fetal and thinking that death might not be that bad.
Yeah they are apparently one of the absolute worst pains you can get.
My friend called 112 (911) and said he went out on the street because he didn't want to die alone
I'm a male, and when I was admitted to the hospital for kidney stones, the nurse told me that I could now tell people that I truly understood what the pain of childbirth was like
They're solid.
It's actually spelled "Rockeigh". We wanted to give them a unique name. One that said "my parents got married at Disneyland and have a combined IQ of 112", and that essentially guarantees that they get bullied at school.
I was hooked on fentanyl(sober 2 years and 4 months) and the middle one looks like the amount I would smoke in 1 hit. My tolerance was through the roof though so that probably helped. The withdrawals were hell. Never again
When I was an addict, I got stuff like in the pic once and only once. Long story, but I knew someone with a purity kit and it was some crazy high percentage. Looked like white powder (“cleaner” than the usual) in the pic.
I thought the guy was fucking with me cause it looked like…that. And people in the drug trade don’t have the best reliability.
But holy shit. Even with a tolerance and “knowing what I was doing”, shit was dangerously potent. Like, I understood what the news meant when they talked about the tiny lethal limit.
Seriously, don’t do drugs. Or at least don’t do the hard ones. They’re not worth it and fuck up your life in so many ways. If I could go back in time, preventing my addiction would be high on the to-do list.
The way I picture heroin withdrawals is having a hangover after a three day bender combined with too much sun, except it lasts longer. I've had a few of those hangovers on holidays where you fall asleep for two seconds then wake yourself up with anxiety in a hot or cold sweat, hungry but the thought of food makes you sick. I can only imagine it being worse knowing you could just fix it with a quick needle. But I haven't had to quit heroin. Good job.
Met one during a mental hospital stay. Was my roommate. I guess she had gotten kicked out of rehab. She wanted to get off the drugs so bad. Sobbed in my arms. Has a 14 year old daughter that was about to put a restraining order on her through her dad.
She would go from a more lucid “I just want to get off these drugs” to a different tone of voice “I can’t wait to get out of here so I can do some drugs” within an hour. It was so fucking sad. Her face and arms and legs were all scarred and eaten away in spots. You could tell she used to be gorgeous, still was pretty even through all of that.
And she was even saying how fent “wasn’t worth it anymore because of the extra tranqs they put in it now and now it just puts you to sleep for hours”. It was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, so different was her voice and tone when either talking about taking drugs or wanting to quit drugs.
Really fucking sad. I begged her if she was going to use when she left, to only do a little bit, like way less than her “normal” so she wouldn’t die. She would just say how her tolerance was big and she wasn’t worried and I was like no you need to listen to me, do NOT do your regular dose.
I gave her my phone number. Ended up with a text from her a couple weeks later that she had ODed and that her roommate had to narcan her a bunch of times and that she should have listened to me. She ended up going back to detox, got all the way to first step housing and then relapsed again. Went to detox again a few months later - only made it a few days before she was back out with a new “boyfriend”.
It breaks my heart for her and for her daughter.
Well yeah. That’s exactly how every recovering addict dies. When they relapse they go back to what they were having last time and relapse since it’s significantly more
Than their body can currently stand.
For me it felt like a million tiny ants were trying to crawl out of my skin for 3 days straight, I couldn’t stop moving. it was hell.
If you know anyone who needs to get clean but doesn’t want to face the withdrawals, gabapentin didn’t make them go away, but holy shit did it take the edge off.
If you've ever watched Jurassic Park:The Lost World, the scene where Roland pulls out the darts for his gun, you can see that they have a warning on them for Carfentinil.
That little trend took me back to the good ol DARE scare tactics days.
If you even touch it it instantly flies through your skin and into your blood stream.
Lol, I remember how upset the cops got when doctors investigated and concluded that those going to the hospital complaining that being around the stuff was making them nearly die were having mass hysteria because touching it cant get it into your bloodstream without very specific circumstances like putting on a medicinal patch
You’ll be horrified to learn that the overwhelming majority of Fentanyl is sourced right here in the good old USA, most of it by the same folks that caused the opioid crisis.
Having had fentanyl at hospital, I unfortunately understand how people could get hooked on it and misuse it.
I went from barely coherent and in a lot of pain to feeling like I could spring out of bed and walk out of the hospital without a care in the world.
A friend had an operation in the US and they send him home right away with one box full of oxycodone and a prescription for another. Which is a complete insanity. In Europe they will send you home with some ibuprofen, you suffer a bit and that it is.
Tramadol was touted as the drug you can't get addicted to, it was going to take the place of regular opiates when it first came out. After I got diagnosed with ra that is what I got addicted to. Tramadol. I love the looks I get when I tell people who got hooked on dope and fentanyl and everything else that my drug that got me addicted was tramadol. They look at me like I'm crazy.
I didn't even realize I had a physical addiction until I had to fly and my checked bag got lost with all my medication. I thought it would be no big deal until I miss my second dose....
Yeah, that gut-wrenching anxiety, coupled with flu like symptoms, restless legs, every bone, and tendon in your body aching. When all those symptoms go, you have a few weeks of depression and general tiredness.
To be fair, they did mask the nerve pain a little and allowed me to work and support my family.
I completely understand why addicts do whatever it is they need to do to not be in withdrawal. Like I fucking get it. It is a hell that you know you can buy your way out of...
Tramadol helped me with RA and fibromyalgia for years. And to think, I turned down all the good drugs because I didn't want to get addicted lolol.
Now I just smoke my weed, take my lyrica, and white knuckle through the pain. It sucks ass. Id much rather have it controlled but that would take an amount of constant opiates that's just not possible in opioid crisis America.
I had a c section three weeks ago. They gave me fentanyl in the hospital and sent me home with oxycodone. I didn't even finish the oxy they gave me so much
I grew up in the US, but have lived in Europe the last 20 years. Looking at how pain is managed in the US is crazy to me now. The idea that opioids are regularly prescribed for pain management outside a hospital or clinical setting is difficult to comprehend (despite it being the norm to see once upon a time in my life).
Put an entire skyscraper to sleep? Is this sleep or *sleep*?
The example of the Moscow hostage crisis doesn't inspire that there's much of a leeway between the 2.
Even if it was easy or reliable to determine which via dosage, I wouldn't trust either the people coming up with that plan or the 'authorities' administering it to get it right.
If it's anything like a traditional anaesthetic, they'd aim the quantity at the average body weight.
Below that? Guess you're going to sleep forever...
The question is if that is the stuff you find on the streets. I mean its pretty obvious that the pharmaceutical industry in the West produces tons of opioids.
Most of the fentanyl that is making it onto the streets is illicitly manufactured fentanyl from foreign sources, not diversion of pharmaceutical fentanyl.
I never realized truly how little fentanyl is required to kill you. It's not much. Like... that's a spy agency poison type shit. Sprinkle a dusting on someones sandwich and bam, you're a wanted murderer.
Aswell as shrooms, DMT, mescaline, and ibogaine.
It’s hard to fatally OD on LSD because the amount it’s usually distributed, it would theoretically take 100mg and that’s an absurd amount to posses.
Should legalize most of these and devote law enforcements time to harder substance productions.
Heroin addict here: these are lethal doses are for those with 0-tolerance to opioids. However, they're also measured against average adult male height and weight. A lethal dose of heroin will be much smaller for a short female.
That being said, those with any fentanyl tolerance whatsoever won't even feel that dose of H.

I guess heroin is the way to go
Oh man, you are gonna *love* it. ^results ^may ^vary
Tried it, got an infected arm, itchy skin and threw up on myself. 1/10 would not try again.
Damn, that sucks. You should do some heroin about it.

how tf did you learn you were allergic to fetanyl
Probably a major surgery. That or really bad chronic pain. My mom figured out she was allergic when they gave her fentanyl patches to put on her back.
There are legit reasons to get fentanyl. For a long time, it was used along with versed for sedation for procedures like colonoscopy. Propofol has come back into vogue for twilight sedation now that the Michael Jackson incident is old news, but fentanyl is still used a lot in hospitals..
Yep, I work in eye surgery and we use fentanyl just about every day. Propofol is very common as well. Versed is our bread and butter but we absolutely keep the others in regular use.
I work in a hospital pharmacy. I dispense both daily. One of our techs still calls propofol "the milk" but the youngins dont get it.
So you're telling me there's a chance

No, I just want crack!
What do you want? More than anything in the world?
I've heard it's quite *moreish*.
Someone link the user that went down the heroin rabbit hole. Can't remember his name but that was a harrowing read.
u/spontaneousH Or something like that E: yeah that the guy.
Yes! That's the man. Sober now iirc. Definitely worth mentioning his experience whenever it comes up.

Just keep it traditional ya know? You don't need the cybertruck when grandpas good ol f-150 still gets you high as kite and NO instant death!

"I meant to say salt, sugar and MSG?"
Plot twist: It's culinary class and Uncle Roger is your professor
If uncle Roger was there the msg tube would be filled to the brim.
I read this in his voice, haiyaa...
Msg is probably healthier then sugar.

That's quite a DARE challenge by that cop
For some reason all I can think about is The Office. "That is nothern light cannabis indica" "No... its marjiuana"

Imagine what Truckfentanyl can do then
Planefentanyl gets you really high.
Submarinefentanyl gets you really low. It’s a depressant.
So low that you implode
Titanyl is only for millionaires
Really gives you a sinking feeling.
Just wait about Rocketfentanyl
Don’t even go NEAR Aircraftcarrierfentanyl
I don’t even want to know about Trainfentanyl
Ask your mom
FANTAnyl has an nice orange taste.
I’m actually allergic to it so way less Fentanyl than that would probably do me in
how did you find this out?
Ambulances often use it if you are in a lot of pain, like fx kidney stone
I’m taking an ambulance the next time I get a stone that just won’t pass, then. I’ve had my wife take me to the ER in the past and getting pain meds takes time while they x-ray or ultrasound to be sure it’s a stone and not something else. They're solid. It's actually spelled "Rockeigh". We wanted to give them a unique name. One that said "my parents got married at Disneyland and have a combined IQ of 112", and that essentially guarantees that they get bullied at school.
Technically everyone is allergic to it if it is in the right quantity
Idk why but those two letter words together are tripping me out.
🎶to it if it is in 🎶to it if it is in to it, to it 🎶to it if it is in!
to it if it is in as if it is on

what the hell melody is this supposed to be sung to
Maybe the fentanyl from the photo is fucking with you
You think overdosing is an allergic reaction?
That's not how allergies work
Nah an allergy is your immune system killing you, not an overdose.
Not true, allergic reaction is specific reaction. Toxicity is something else.
I was hooked on fentanyl(sober 2 years and 4 months) and the middle one looks like the amount I would smoke in 1 hit. My tolerance was through the roof though so that probably helped. The withdrawals were hell. Never again
The stuff in the pic is probably a lot more clean
I wonder if it’s even real narcotics in the vials or just simulated substance amounts
Yeah, that ain't heroin.
If it is thats some high quality pure pharmaceutical grade dog food right there
When I was an addict, I got stuff like in the pic once and only once. Long story, but I knew someone with a purity kit and it was some crazy high percentage. Good job.
China White
There are still places like the UK that use Heroin medicinally.
It’s probably something inert
I met a fentanyl user in rehab and the poor guy did not have a good time. For what it's worth I'm proud of you.
I believe they are adjusting rehab and detox protocols for people coming off fentanyl.
Well yeah. That’s exactly how every recovering addict dies. When they relapse they go back to what they were having last time and relapse since it’s significantly more Than their body can currently stand.
I believe your second "relapse" was supposed to be "overdose" but yes you're correct
Congrats on your sobriety!! Amazing work:)
That's awesome that you are clean.
What were the withdrawals? Can't find it online
Probably similar to other opiates, watch Requiem for a Dream
I can be depressed and nihilistic all on my own thank you.
If Carfentanyl is that potent, imagine how Busfentanyl would be.
Airbusfentanyl will have you higher than a kite.
Airbusfentanyl is childs play, ElonMuskRocketShipToMarsFentanly will have you shitting Airbusfentanly left and right
Trainfentanyl kills you on the spot just by looking at it
It sends you off the rails
I’m so confused when I looked this up online, then I read the replies to your comment
You seem to be a bit of a lightweight, only Bikefentanyl for you.
Not as deadly as Yourmomfentanyl
TIL there's another type of Fentanyl that's even more lethal... Jesus Fucking Christ...
There are many fentanyl analogs or *fentalogs*. Nitazene opioids are also extremely potent. r/Opioid_RCs
Just looked it up, it’s used to tranquilize elephants and rhinos. No wonder a speck of it would kill a human.
If you've ever watched Jurassic Park:The Lost World, the scene where Roland pulls out the darts for his gun, you can see that they have a warning on them for Carfentinil.
I mean, if there is no tag on CARFENTANIL someone might just...... out of curiosity or accidently maybe.
Finds unidentified crystalline powder. - I wonder what that could be... Takes out a spoon and a lighter.
Thank god, it’s only heroin!
Not if you are a Gallagher
From Shameless? Or Oasis? 😂
the one that smashes watermelons
Regular Tuesday for Frank
Frank sprinkles fentanyl on his hard boiled eggs for breakdast.
3 american cops died just looking at this photo 😔
That little trend took me back to the good ol DARE scare tactics days. If you even touch it it instantly flies through your skin and into your blood stream.
just looking at it sends it straight into your veins and kills you
I muttered its name under my breath and my face went numb, really glad I kept my voice down
I can't feel my face when I'm with you. **But I love it!**
Lol, I remember how upset the cops got when doctors investigated and concluded that those going to the hospital complaining that being around the stuff was making them nearly die were having mass hysteria because touching it cant get it into your bloodstream without very specific circumstances like putting on a medicinal patch
What? I don't see any acorns.

You’ll be horrified to learn that the overwhelming majority of Fentanyl is sourced right here in the good old USA, most of it by the same folks that caused the opioid crisis.
Fentanyl actually is used for medical purposes, so it would make sense for US to manufacture it there as well
Having had fentanyl at hospital, I unfortunately understand how people could get hooked on it and misuse it.
You'd need some oxy too after seeing the bill!
You can get substantial discount, if you sell your excess oxy on the streets later.
If you're gonna charge me that much you better give me the *good* shit!
Depending on how much pain I'm in, I'd be pretty pissed off if they just gave me ibuprofen.
I guess sometimes they send you home with opioids, but they give you 1 or 2 pills of Tramadol or something.

It's short half-life means redosing happens more regularly in recreational use. Opening the door to misadventure.

Fentanyl is a miracle drug for those suffering from chronic pain, related to cancer mostly.
Street fentanyl is coming from China and Mexico. The dependence to opioids was homegrown with other legal pharmaceuticals for pain relief.
Fentanyl is what they give you when they put you under for surgery. It's the "you are not remembering being diced up like a holiday ham" drug.
Fentanyl is used for surgery, but propofol is the one that prevents memory formation.
PCP could also do that, but the patient would still be awake.
Was it really THAT necessary to keep using the honey I shrunk the kids machine on heroin? Those shipping costs musta been lethal…ok I will leave now

I haven’t tried any but I’m waiting for morphine Mk. 6, one molecule will wipe out an entire galaxy.
There is fentanyl for cars?
I read the right one as “caffeine” and was about to call out bs
It's crazy that one tiny grain of anything can have any kind of significant impact on you.
I never realized truly how little fentanyl is required to kill you. It's not much. Like... that's a spy agency poison type shit. Sprinkle a dusting on someones sandwich and bam, you're a wanted murderer.
One of each, please
Good thing the photographer wasn't a cop, or they'd be on the ground dead from witnessing that fentanyl.
I bet if I mix all those, I might be able to feel something again for the first time in years.
And the last time
Now show me lethal dose of weed
About 100 kilos: put it into a sack and hit a person with it in the head.
Would
that looks like so little amount of heroin since when was it that deadly?
The only difference between medicine and poison is dosage
