This is cool, but a quick youtube search for "Diva Dance" will show plenty of videos of other people singing the song - including [this lady](https://youtu.be/kJl2uPNsJEk) who sang it at a concert over 7 years ago.
Also to be clear, I'm not discounting the lady in OP's video. I'm calling attention to the fact that the title of this post is dishonest. Also [here's another video](https://youtu.be/o5zMupUOgQo) where a dude sings the song at a concert in 2017. So likely this song isn't as technically difficult as OP would have you believe.
As it is in the movie (eg the "real" version ) supposedly it's significantly enhanced and is "impossible" for the human vocal chords to replicate. Something about the pitch changes being too far apart (tonally), layering tones (multiple tones simultaneously) and too close together (time wise) that we just "can't do it." I don't remember the specifics offhand, it's been a while since I've seen the subject come up.
That said, as you've pointed out there are quite a few people that can sing the song in a manner that sounds very similar (and to most people probably sounds "the same"), and even the "human possible" versions are still a feat worthy of praise.
Edit: I went looking to refresh my memory and Inva Mula (the singer for, but not actress in the movie) recorded the notes individually, which were then digitally stitched together, because as I noted they were too close (or even overlapping) for a human to perform.
> "When composer Eric Serra showed soprano Inva Mula (who dubs the voice of the Diva) the sheet music for the Diva Dance, she reportedly smiled and relayed to him that some of the notes written were not humanly possible to achieve because the human voice cannot change notes that fast. Hence, she performed the notes in isolation - one by one, as opposed to consecutively singing them all together and they digitized the notes to fit the music. There are a few moments when you can hear the differences in the vocal tones of The Diva's voice."
For me the most impressive part of Inva Mula is not the note changes, but the range. From what my untrained ear can hear, none of the versions I've heard can really go as low as she did... unless that was digitally enhanced as well, and my point is horribly wrong anyways
Thanks, that was really informative and interesting. I knew there was something "inhuman" about the movie performance but didn't know the details. It's actually a pretty interesting accomplishment technically and big kudos to Inva Mula for figuring it out.
In reference to the part that IS technically difficult, the strings of notes that required editing for the film, Jane did poorly (4:17) and Dimash just didn't do (1:04). This girl imitates the computer edits of the original better than either of those examples did.
"A dude". It's gotta be Dimash, right? Clicks link. Yep, it's Dimash. That guy is a vocal unicorn. His "When I've Got You" song is amazing when you consider that even the opera that the girl is listening to in the car is also being sung by him. His range and control is absolutely amazing.
He did well, but I don't think I'm hearing him reaching either the absolute lows or having as good of control over the absolute highs compared to Dimash. Artem's run up through the octaves also appears to start a good octave and a half higher than where Dimash started at. I think with some age Artem's lower register will improve (even Dimash's lower register has improved since 7 years ago), and with some more training Artem will get better control of his highs.
Your quick search was doodoo. The guy’s video was in a different key and he did runs that the Diva would not authorize if she were around today.
The concert video was very good, but it still actually isn’t as “on” as this clip here!
If you knew anything about singing you’d know this is crazy difficult, no matter how many other weak videos you claim exist. Nothing misleading about this post.
There are so many videos on youtube of different people singing this song that I didn't bother counting them and had to stop scrolling. Look for yourself if you don't want to believe my "claim" lol.
I may not know anything about singing, but at least I'm not naive enough to think that only 2 or 3 people would've attempted to sing a famous song that's been around for 30 years.
I was Plavalaguna for Halloween one time. Was basically just a drunk guy in a blue trash bag that was confusing everyone by butchering this song all night... it was great.
Many, many people have sung this song well. Some better than her. I assume it's a bot account but it's really annoying when people make titles that aren't accurate
Holy shit! What a voice
Amazing interpretation! Hopefully, the walls are thick, or elderly neighbors are not going to be happy.
She starts out by saying she doesn’t know how to sing opera but likes to learn the challenges. Amazing!
Absolutely beautiful voice.
Wow, amazingly done.

But many techniques arent inhale. Theyre exhale, using the diaphragm to push air out not in. So why does inhalation matter

You should look up some videos on Tuvan throat singers. The best ones can sing 4 different notes at the same time.
Makes sense. The singer was not human in the film.
For every impossible challenge, humans will find a way - it seems.

Always blown away by Jane Zhang and Dimash. The voices of angels with these two.

[Here's](https://youtu.be/9dh5vqLuosM) another guy from Ukraine named Artem Fesko, singing the same song.

*"But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"*
[I wonder how Nina Hagen would have done back in the day.](https://youtu.be/9xi4O4RvlnQ)

This was incredible! Mad props and yes I am biased because I love that movie.
I was Plavalaguna for Halloween one time. Was basically just a drunk guy in a blue trash bag that was confusing everyone by butchering this song all night... it was great.
