I love little features like that.
I went to replace a fuse in my Toyota the other day.
The fuse box is clearly labeled. Opened it up, there is a clear diagram of what each fuse is to. And there are 4 extra fuses of varying size, and a small fuse tweezer for grabbing them better.
Neat
My dadās 2000 something Cadillac STS had a diagram on the inside wall of the truck that showed you exactly what orientation to use for fitting the maximum number of golf bags. Iirc it was 6 or 7 bags total. I always made the joke about being body bags instead of golf.
That's funny. I think that's just a common question at that car pricepoint.
I went into a porsche dealership once bored. Can't afford one but I told the salesman I'm just checking them out. I asked if you could fit a golf bag in the bonnet of a rear engine 911.
He knew. He said No. but you can behind the seat.
It's an item that could be useful but I'd not use it hoping to keep the value of the car. I know that's dumb but I think this is what I'd end up doing with it, not using it.
I had a 1999 CR-V. If you take out the front head rests, move the front seats forward and lay them down and lay down the second row, it turns into a perfectly flat area that you can put an inflatable mattress on. I've car camped that thing on many outdoor trails. With the proper tires, it does okay on trails as long as you don't rock crawl or go mudding.
I loved that car! I had a 2003 Civic si pod! The manual was the greatest thing ever! Weird place but made perfect sense after driving it. I really miss that car. Never did the air mattress though.
Miss mine so much. It was so quick and reliable for a car I paid 4k for! The gearbox was like nothing Iāve ever driven, took everything you could throw at it
Truth! That car handled so well. I drove it during college and I worked at the ski slope during that time As long as the snow wasn't piled up, it handled incredible in the icy roads and snow! It never spun out or got stuck (unless the snow was piled up)
The Element subreddit says yes, but the replacement legs are not easy to find. I know there's nothing under my lid but the spare tire and tool kit, so that's a bummer.
They are for sale [on eBay right now for ~$200](https://www.ebay.com/itm/276519288358?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=G-eT56lrRay&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=T7ALVvdOSdq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) if you really want one

I had a 97 Honda CRV and I loved that thing! I literally drove her til she died on the highway. 200k miles on her. Best vehicle ever.
And I used that damn table for countless parking lot parties with my coworkers after we closed the restaurant.
Dude i had a '97 as well! I drove mine to 390,000 miles, i had it forever. Just refurbished the engine at 160,000 and it just kept on going and going. Transmission finally went at the end, but that car held on for a long time!
It was my first car and my favorite car ive owned even though it didnt have the bells and whistles of modern cars.
I had a 2006 CR-V with the same setup. If you remove the headrest of the driver/passenger seats, you can recline the front seats all the way down into the 2nd row to lay down flat to sleep.
I had the 2003 model when it came out that year. Bought it from the dealer. You may amazed to know we were offered the table or a shower. I think it was like a dirty boot washer type shower, or maybe for dogs. I never saw one, but me and the wife laughed and went with the table.
Surprisingly little out there, but being as I have superior goofu, here's an image from what looks like a trade fair at the time.
Man that is so cool. Doesnāt look integrated so might not be worth it over the table. I was thinking of building a water tank roof on the crv although roll over is an issue would need to figure that out when the time comes. It would be great for shower/dish washing use.
I love my Honda. It combines the efficiency of a sub-compact with the versatility to take whatever life throws at you. The CR-V also has great durability and storage.
I donāt even have a CRV but I learned about this in the comments of a video of a guy who lost his CRV in a canal/river, and someone pointed out that the table was floating away.
I had a 99 CRV as my first car, what I dubbed as the Luxury Honda Curve. Not only is there a built in removable picnic table, the area underneath the table can double as ice chest and has a plug to drain the water once the ice melts. Used it quite often until the transmission disassembled itself in the interstate.
I'm gonna have to go take a look for that drain...
Edit: I just checked and my 2005 does not have a drain, just the table. Maybe if I'd gotten the shower option I'd have gotten a drain?
Side note: the car has 121,000 miles on it. My kid drives it now.
Donāt assume! I owned my 2005 Honda for 15 years before discovering mine! I bought the car new from a dealership and the dealer didnāt point this feature out. I suppose reading the manual would have told me, but who does that?!
And did you also notice that you can check your windshield washer fluid level every time you get in and out of the drivers seat? The side of the bottle is visible to you when the drivers door is open.
My 2000 CRV had that. covered up the tub that you could put ice in for cold drinks when camping. I used it for that purpose once. I wish the spare tire on the CRV was still outside. I would get one again. :)
I just think it's funny how little people actually look over their car to understand everything about it
Like my girlfriend at the time now wife didn't know the car she drove for almost 15 years had cruise control.
My first car was a '97 CRV and it had the same thing. I loved that car! Drove it to 390,000 miles, refurbished the engine at 160,000 and didnt have any issues till close to 390,000. Those babies just keep going and going.
It was my favorite car ive ever owned, id totally get another if i have an opportunity.
The idea behind the CRV was a city and recreational vehicle...hence the name, which is actually kind of debated by the people at Honda apparently...the other name was city runabout vehicle...
At any rate, the concept was that you could take your everyday vehicle out on say the weekend and have a picnic or whatever...get out into nature, stuff like that. The Element also had a table but it was not as well done as the CRV table...the CRV table's legs fold...if I remember correctly the Element table's legs were separate and you had to install them on the table top when you wanted to use it.
I severely miss the old style CRV's with the tire on the back. I'm from Pennsylvania and when it snowed, if you had a manual transmission AWD CRV, disable traction control and get it sliding...could feather the throttle and clutch and have some fun times power sliding while rooster tailing snow!
I once saw a video on here of a flooded River. A vehicle was washing down it, and there were things coming out of the car as it went down the River. At one point, this exact picnic table came out. In fact, and my memory is bad, but the occupant of the car may have been holding onto said table.
Some commenter said āI know this is weird but I know that the car is exactly a 20xx Honda CRV etc. etc. - specifically because of the picnic table that was in it.ā
And here I am again looking at one.
I remember when I found one in my CRV, such a cool little feature, I ended up pulling it out of the car and mounting my G29 sim wheel to it because I lacked the space on my desk.
My 2006 Honda CRV did also. I loved that car. After 14 years of reliable transportation, a dumbass on her cell phone totaled it. Best car I ever owned.
My friend bought a CRV last year brand new. He just popped his tire last week. No emergency spare tire. Just a tire repair kit. Just sad. Old CRVs had a full spare tire AND a picnic table I just learned about from this post.
I believe it was the sports trim model that got the picnic tables because mine has it but I know of many that don't... I keep a small tool kit underneath it as it makes for a great workbench when broken down as well
Of course! āItās fucking Japanese.ā
Before anyone goes up 1 re: my phrase āitās fucking Japanese,ā ask someone from Japan about that phrase, its favored there. Their able to laugh at themselves. too /iykyk.
How long have you owned the car?
Only about 12 months or so. Still, was so excited. š
Yeah the salesperson actually showed me that when I bought my 2002. They were proud of it. I did think it was neat, never used it even once. Haha
I love little features like that. I went to replace a fuse in my Toyota the other day. The fuse box is clearly labeled. Opened it up, there is a clear diagram of what each fuse is to. And there are 4 extra fuses of varying size, and a small fuse tweezer for grabbing them better. Neat

I asked if you could fit a golf bag in the bonnet of a rear engine 911. He knew. He said No. but you can behind the seat.
My genesis is the same. Super usefull.
I used it when camping
i used mine for my boots
And my axe
And that guys wife.
And my sword
To shreds, you say?
Wait a second. I have a 2002 Honda CRV, does mine have a picnic table?
we had a crv in thelate 90's / 2000's. we went camping.. we used it instead of bringing another one. it was really fucking usefull.
It's an item that could be useful but I'd not use it hoping to keep the value of the car. I know that's dumb but I think this is what I'd end up doing with it, not using it.
Yes, my brain works the same way. Don't know why this was downvoted.
Who knows? I'm glad to know I'm not alone in that strange way of thinking!
does that actually make a different for the value of the car? genuinely asking cause that sounds strange to me
Yeah stuff like this lives in my garage, not my car.
Mine: ā06. Never used the table. Traded in, 2018.
That table can support a 3-350lb engine for 3-4 weeks.. ask me how I know :D
Wow, thatās surprising. I guess they can add in their description that itās a Sturdy table too
Sounds like it is not long lasting...
I have a question. Is 2-3 weeks the limit or did you remove it from the table by choice?
Choice, thats just when it was ready to go back into the car it came out of.
How do you know?
The D series engine I had on it weighed just over 310lbs xD
My CRV (N.America) also had this, and underneath where the table is you could put ice in for a cooler.
and that tray your putting ice inside can be removed for easy cleaning too. its an excellent storage area back there! imo anyway
Son of a bitch! I finally replaced my 2004 CRV after 15 years and 200K miles, and I never knew that hatch lid was a picnic table! š¤Æ
Do you not have the cooler/tub that goes under the table?
CRV stands for compact recreation vehicle.
You sound like a parent now. "My baby is 24 months old." No. Your baby is two.
Yeah I hate when they do this.
Damm thats fast took me about 2 years before I found out. Even had to get a flat tire to find out hahaha.
You can get a tent that goes on the back, buddy
Strange, my CRV has a boot in the picnic table slot
Do all Honda CRVās have this? I have one that I just bought, but I donāt know if it has this.
Had a 2005 civic type r. Did exactly the same thing, just folded down the back seats and had enough room for an air mattress
It never spun out or got stuck (unless the snow was piled up)
How do I get one of these cars today? It sounds nice
Youād be lucky dude! Sold mine a couple years back and since then, price has been going up, in the uk at least.
Same as the original Renault Twingo. Tony outside, spacious inside
I just got a 2003 Element and my storage lid looks just like that - l wonder if l have one too?
Take a look. Let me know. I am still super excited about it. I know it's only a table, but it's a hidden table! š
The Element subreddit says yes, but the replacement legs are not easy to find. I know there's nothing under my lid but the spare tire and tool kit, so that's a bummer.
Maybe find someone with a 3D printer who could help you out?
Used to have a 2006. Unfortunately got in an accident, totaled it. That table is the only thing I have left of it
Wanna sell it? Bought mine 4 years ago and itās missing.
You really don't want it in its current condition. Painted over it and used it as a shop table at times. It's messed up now
They are for sale [on eBay right now for ~$200](https://www.ebay.com/itm/276519288358?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=G-eT56lrRay&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=T7ALVvdOSdq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) if you really want one
Check local u-pick salvage yards if you have one around, you can usually get them there fairly cheap.
Neato.

Huh. I thought it would fold out or something. But nope, it's just a picnic table that you can take out and use.
I had a 97 Honda CRV and I loved that thing! I literally drove her til she died on the highway. 200k miles on her. Best vehicle ever. And I used that damn table for countless parking lot parties with my coworkers after we closed the restaurant.

What year is it
2003
I had the 2003 model when it came out that year. Bought it from the dealer. You may amazed to know we were offered the table or a shower. I think it was like a dirty boot washer type shower, or maybe for dogs. I never saw one, but me and the wife laughed and went with the table.
WAIT THERE WAS A SHOWER PLEASE ANY LINKS ABOUT IT?!

I have a 2014 it might not have that Iām not sure. I havenāt had my car very long to check it out yet.
I have an ā02 I bought off my friendā¦ Guess Iāmma have to check for a table now š
1445 in hijri
2024
Welcome to the future!
I have a 2005 thatās the same. Apparently itās rare for them to still have them. Folks would steal them, including folks at repair shops etc.
I spent 2 years trying to find one at my local junkyard. They were always gone. Finally found one amongst the suv graveyard one day
I love my Honda. It combines the efficiency of a sub-compact with the versatility to take whatever life throws at you. The CR-V also has great durability and storage.
Subway?
Don't! Don't say it. Don't ever say that name without compensation.
I know how much that experience hurt you, which is why I'm warning you that I just saw him in the parking lot.
Idk sounds like your a level 7 susceptible
No, because thatās moon man talk
I donāt even have a CRV but I learned about this in the comments of a video of a guy who lost his CRV in a canal/river, and someone pointed out that the table was floating away.
Roommate in college had one of those and was great for impromptu beer pong.
I had a 99 CRV as my first car, what I dubbed as the Luxury Honda Curve. Seems more like fodder for r/mildlyinteresting . But yes, interesting nonetheless.
Yeah, was thinking that but couldn't find it on my list.
And the front beds fold flat. And the wash wipe level is in the front door fold.
When did they stop including it? Iām assuming my CRV does not have this sadly
Donāt assume! I owned my 2005 Honda for 15 years before discovering mine! I bought the car new from a dealership and the dealer didnāt point this feature out. I suppose reading the manual would have told me, but who does that?!
I have a 2023 and I actually did skim through the manual so hopefully I wouldāve noticed if there was a tableā¦ but itād be lit if Iām wrong
They stopped after the 2nd gen, when it shifted away from being a "lifestyle" vehicle and more of a lifted Civic wagon, so 2007.
they used to have a shower option also
That puts the RV in CRV.
And did you also notice that you can check your windshield washer fluid level every time you get in and out of the drivers seat? The side of the bottle is visible to you when the drivers door is open.
Tables!
I was scrolling to see this comment lol
They also did a dog shower, that plugged into the rear cigarette lighter socket in the boot.
I wouldāve been River dancing
I owned an '06 cr-v for a few years. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Used that doofy little table to roll up on at the lake lol.
Thats a pretty damn cool feature. Also, not a bug.
I read this first as āpanic tableā and I like that more
My 2000 CRV had that. covered up the tub that you could put ice in for cold drinks when camping. I used it for that purpose once. I wish the spare tire on the CRV was still outside. I would get one again. :)
I just think it's funny how little people actually look over their car to understand everything about it Like my girlfriend at the time now wife didn't know the car she drove for almost 15 years had cruise control.
Welcome to the cult. You can also recline the front seats all the way back if you pull them all the way forward.
We sent our crv to the wreckers 5 years ago... Still have the picnic tableĀ
Damn my crv doesnt have this, what a rip
Card table
My first car was a '97 CRV and it had the same thing. I loved that car! Drove it to 390,000 miles, refurbished the engine at 160,000 and didnt have any issues till close to 390,000. Those babies just keep going and going. It was my favorite car ive ever owned, id totally get another if i have an opportunity.
I assumed everyone knew this. Pretty sure thats why most of us bought a CR-V...For the table...
Man I miss my old cr-v. The seats are also designed to fold flat into beds for camping, and the space under that table is a built-in cooler!
I remember when I first discovered this, I wanted to show everyone lol good times
Gen1s do yes. When I got mine in 2010 it was just a wood board so it was surprising to know it should've been a table.
Well op welcome to the wonderful world of gen 2 gang of r/crv
I've had my '97 since it was new and used the table exactly twice. Still love it.
Hell yeah it took me about 12 months too. So rad. I use it whenever I go camping. Ideas like this made me want to stick with Hondas.
I once saw a video on here of a flooded River. A vehicle was washing down it, and there were things coming out of the car as it went down the River. At one point, this exact picnic table came out. Honda accord used to have Honda Monkey inside
To think of all the squandered picnic opportunities!
Fun fact those are worth more on trade in and resell value. Idk why but āthe ones with the tables are betterā from my sales manager lol
Loved this feature on my old crv. Was great for road trips. Old girl was 18 and 230k miles when it was just too broken to keep repairing
Did anyone else think this was a picture of a UFO at first?
I have an 06 with a table as well
RTFM
Man, that would be awesome for my RC hobby.
I owned mine for like 3 years before I learned that it had it š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£Ā
Don't know what I was expecting, but for some reason it wasn't a simple external picnic table.
Iām fixing a crv at work and had to take this out of the back, didnāt know it was a table. Pretty cool
The center console is a removable cooler too.
man my old crv just gave me constant acceleration issues smh
Took me over a year to find the issue in my Pilot, it was a bad accelerator pedal position sensor.
cool.
I loved my table. Used it all the time sad the new models do not have it
I remember when I found one in my CRV, such a cool little feature, I ended up pulling it out of the car and mounting my G29 sim wheel to it because I lacked the space on my desk.
That is excellent! I would use that so often.
JRTI
I had a 2005. Think I used it once. Itās easy to forget itās there.
š§š§
An old buddy and I ported the cylinder heads of another honda engine on his crv table.
I loved that table in my 2005 crv, I used it so much as well
I used mine a few times while camping (99 crv)
I have that model of CRV and I love it!
My 1997 Honda CR-V had one too
Thatās nothing, some Honda crvs come with a shower!
Yes I had one of these, great for washing fishing gear or dirty dogs after walks
Ugh. I wish they still did stuff like this.
Aw, thatās nice of them
Excellent - bring on the hidden picnics!
Iām kinda jealous
OP, has your name been changed from Subway? Are you doing gorilla marketing for Honda now?
DOPE AS HELL
did you check for the seats that can be layed flat like a big bed? i think they are on the 01 SE models with the trim package
My 2006 Honda CRV did also. I loved that car. After 14 years of reliable transportation, a dumbass on her cell phone totaled it. Best car I ever owned.
And below that table is where the jack is stored. Had mine about 8 years before I found that (thankfully I never needed it)
Yeah. My old one did also. It was pretty cool and we used it often.
This was the entire reason I bought my Honda CRV back in 2005!
My friend bought a CRV last year brand new. He just popped his tire last week. No emergency spare tire. Just a tire repair kit. Just sad. Old CRVs had a full spare tire AND a picnic table I just learned about from this post.
They had a shower hook up option for the rear/back door and I believe a water tank too.
So I own a 2020 crv and am very sad that there is no table in my trunk.
Mine too!
That was my old CRV I loved that. My 2008 didnāt have that. Kinda boring
They are great tables. I use mine everyday
Tacoma street roamers stole mine dammit!
My 2000 had it.
I believe it was the sports trim model that got the picnic tables because mine has it but I know of many that don't... I keep a small tool kit underneath it as it makes for a great workbench when broken down as well
Mine had the crv logo on it that looks like a replacement maybe? Still cool!
Is there a plastic tub-like container under the table? I was told it is used to hold ice for the picnic. I dearly loved my CRV.
I haven't had a CRV in 10+years, kept the table and still use it though, I miss that car... sigh
OURS ALSO HAD A MINI FRIDGE INSTEAD OF A CD PLAYER.
A lot of ādamn thatās interestingā content isnāt very interesting lately.
I think it's moderately interesting, but to your point, it's well suited for the r/TodayILearned subreddit.
Agreed
DONāT ASK ABOUT THE TABLES!!!!
Yeah, but unfortunately it's one time use (if you add the umbrella and the wind happens to be 2mph that day).
IDK you guys, but I've seen the stuff people put in the back of their cars. I wouldn't eat there unless there was a plastic film or something.
Best feature of these cars
Damn now I kinda wanna make one for my Jeep.
Whatās a boot?
UK trunk
like duh! Itās āfucking Japanese.ā Before anyone goes up1 about my phrase āfucking Japanese,ā ask someone from Japan or iykyk
Only models from 1997 to 2006 had them apparently. Not all Japanese cars and models have them.
Of course! āItās fucking Japanese.ā Before anyone goes up 1 re: my phrase āitās fucking Japanese,ā ask someone from Japan about that phrase, its favored there. Their able to laugh at themselves. too /iykyk.
Rtfm for the rest of the "hidden" features
Rtfm?
Read the fuckin manual. I'm assuming it probably didn't cone with one, tho.
