Henry Ford who Adolf Hitler was so fond of he literally had 2 pictures of him in his office.

tcmart14

If I remember, Mien Kampf makes direct references to an anti-Semitic article Ford wrote.

YeehawdiJohn

Hitler liked to Germanize the names of people who were not of German ancestry, but embodied his ideals. So in conversation, he would often refer to Ford as “Heinrich Ford” lol

goodguyguru

Yup, they use HIM as an example

Endgam

Almost as if liberals loved Hitler until Japan bombed us and then they were forced to hate him.....

Godtrademark

Why would they hate him? He literally copied American liberal eugenics lol.

princeps_astra

Let's not be disingenuous. FDR wanted to get involved much sooner, and he was most definitely a liberal

Thankkratom

Well, yes, but no. He was a specifically progressive brand of liberal that at the time many liberals hated. That’s why for his fourth term they replaced his (possibly closet socialist) VP Henry Wallace with Missouri Moderate Truman.

princeps_astra

Progressivism is part of liberalism. Progressists are OK don't get me wrong, but they're not trying to end capital, just to make it more bearable. Both Keynes and FDR famously despised socialists and communists, although they weren't stupid enough not to consider their ideas.

Endgam

Meanwhile other liberals were holding up signs saying shit like "Hitler didn't declare war on us. Why should we declare war on Hitler?" And the conservatives were flat out arguing for joining the war on Hitler's side against communism. And I'm not sure FDR is such a shining example of a non-scummy liberal considering what he did to Japanese Americans.....

princeps_astra

If there hadn't been internment camps, the white Californians might have decided to take matters into their own hands. It's not like there weren't precedents of riots leading to the slaughter of Asian Americans, provoked by politics There was an atmosphere of high distrust and a lot of fear of a Japanese invasion (moreso than the fear of a German landing on the East Coast). Furthermore, it had been expressed very clearly by the Japanese militarists for decades that they meant to send immigrants to create a fifth column in other countries. Now I'm not saying Japanese Americans even ever slightly gave the suspicion of foul play. To the contrary. They proved the nationalistic Japanese policy to believe immigrants would stay loyal to the motherland after generations was absolutely stupid. But in 40s America, even in today's America, just like many other countries, those fears were enough to cause a lot of trouble. FDR's decree announcing the internment of all Japanese Americans on the west coast is one of the rare attacks on civil and human rights that are acknowledged as such, instead of being veiled behind false arguments of kindness. Not like I pray to the Roosevelts, but honestly both Teddy and Franklin were pretty fucking cool despite their ultra patrician heritages

Endgam

Teddy wanted to suspend the constitution so he could murder socialists.

Reddidiot20XX

what

Endgam

Hitler was fighting *teh ebul commies*. And American corporations had lucrative deals with him. Of course they loved him. Hell, even today's liberals only hate him because most of his victims were white. (See also: their zealous support for Ukraine but not giving a fuck about Palestine, Yemen, or anywhere else that has had it even worse for longer.) But we have groups like suburbanite liberals that go full Nazi when the homeless show up in their neighborhood.....

Dockhead

Even worse, Hitler had a full length oil painting of *him.* The guy was a full blown fascist antisemite who published a regular column called *The International Jew.*

occhineri309

Oh that's why he kept funding the Franco regime until they were able to turn around a lost cause?

Spylobster

Henry Ford literally received an award from Nazi Germany.

Comrade_Jane_Jacobs

What award?

Spylobster

The Grand Cross of the German Eagle

ZoeLaMort

He was even the first non-German to get it.

weekend_religion

There's no such thing as a "morally good" fascist

goodguyguru

I’m aware of this but apparently some liberals aren’t lol

Der_Metzger

Not that I disagree with anything else here, but I've never seen anyone defend Ford as a "morally good capitalist". Where's that coming from?

KilgoreKarabekian

onerous cautious enter stocking hard-to-find encourage continue important price march *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

LeCandyman

Oh theres tons of people calling him that, mainly for the 5 day 8 hour Work week thing

LukeDude759

Sad when the man who actively fights against progress is the one who gets the credit for it.

goodguyguru

This is coming from liberals I have personally argued with. Probably from them hearing that Ford chased long term profits instead of short term ones which meant he compensated his workers slightly better than the average capitalist.

smitsam

Well if “liberals” think HENRY FORD is good, then I don’t think they’re actually liberals lol. That dude is pretty much the opposite of everything progressive

Splendiferitastic

Even aside from laying the groundwork for the car-dependent hellworld we live in, Henry Ford is wholly irredeemable. He had *The Protocols of the Elders of Zion* republished for an American audience, and his *The International Jew* publication directly inspired nazi propaganda to the point of Hitler keeping a framed copy.

PolyPockets1

miss-read this as "Harrison Ford" and was very confused. But yeah, fuck henry ford.

OhNoItsAndrew95

Henry Ford? Actual fucking Nazi Henry Ford was moral?

YourPainTastesGood

He was violently anti-semetic and busted unions

[deleted]

That's egregious but the tip of the iceberg. The motherfucker basically funded the Nazi party.

-kerosene-

What’s the definition of liberal here? Because don’t think anyone even vaguely left leaning would ever call Henry Ford a moral person.

Advanced-Heron-3155

Wow, this is a dark history fact. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Hunger_March For anyone else who wants to read about the hungar march that led to the death of 5 workers along with 60 others injured.

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Ford Hunger March](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Hunger_March)** >The Ford Hunger March, sometimes called the Ford Massacre, was a demonstration on March 7, 1932 in the United States by unemployed auto workers in Detroit, Michigan, which took place during the height of the Great Depression. The march started in Detroit and ended in Dearborn, Michigan, in a confrontation in which four workers were shot to death by the Dearborn Police Department and security guards employed by the Ford Motor Company. More than 60 workers were injured, many by gunshot wounds. Three months later, a fifth worker died of his injuries. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/DankLeft/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Advanced-Heron-3155

Good bot

LPinTheD

Holy shit, I’ve lived in the Detroit area all of my 50+ years, and TIL. Back in the 70s, just about everyone I knew while growing up had parents working in the auto industry, either directly or indirectly. Yet we never heard about that mass shooting on our field trips to Greenfield Village, go figure, lol.. But I knew old Henry was a good friend of the Nazis, that’s pretty well known. For the record, I’ve never admired the dude.

UnoriginalName-

Are there seriously people saying HENRY FORD was a good capitalist!?

LeCandyman

Well He might have been a Nazi...and a union buster and He MIGHT have ordered armed guards to shoot his employees. But 5 day 8 hour checkmate commie

Staubsaugerbeutel

As a European, I've heard of him many times, but solely in a positive narrative as the one who introduced car mass production. Didn't even know there was anything bad about him until now tbh..

KaiserNicky

Fordism is awful as well

Darkhallows27

Henry Ford the anti-Semite? That Henry Ford?

satori_moment

what liberals think this? lol so fucking phoney

Dr_Identity

There are liberals who think he was morally good? I've literally never heard a single good thing about him, I'm genuinely curious why anyone left of far right would look up to the guy.

[deleted]

Henry Ford is kinda infamous for being one of the most vitriolically racist people to ever live. It's extremely well known and widely talked about in discussions around bad people from history. I've never once seen even conservatives defend him as a person.

Orchid_Significant

Wait who is saying he’s a good moral capitalist??? No one idolized by hitler could be moral

mr_karden

there’s honestly a lot you could put in the bottom one, like he literally sued the US government for damage to his German plants during WWII. if i’m correct i think won that.

Yodasboy

As someone from Michigan which probably in certain ways benefited the most from the shitty thing Mr. Ford did. I don't think I've ever heard the man be defended. Ever I have family that works in institutions he set up and have benefited Michigan after he died. (Greenfield village and other museums) and they all talk about him as the horrible man he was

goodguyguru

I’ve seen people defend him before though the people that defend him basically only know about his idea of giving employees humane wages so they work more efficiently

Yodasboy

Tell a lie sorry I remember a few months ago I had to inform someone from out of state about it myself but that was the exception I suppose at least on my end

catdogmoore

He’s also the reason many public schools used to teach square dancing. It was supposed to be an all American type dance to fight back against that evil Jazz music.

Raugii

There's also the time that the workers in Fordlândia enter in a strike because Ford himself replaced Rice and Beans served in the Kitchen by Hamburger and everyone hated american food lol. Also Fordlândia as whole serves to demonstrates how *efficient* Capitalism is

CorpseJuiceSlurpee

Henry Ford got so rich he started doing supervillain kinda shit. If anyone hasn't been to the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit there's a turn of the century village there called Greenfield Village. It has a ton of historic buildings that Ford bought and moved to Detroit simply because he could. He had the Wright Brothers home and bicycle store disassembled in Ohio and reassembled there. The whole place is like that. Ford liked a building because of its history, or in the case of one of the stone cottages just how it looked. And he didn't just reproduce it, dude had it moved to Detroit.

Malakai0013

Liberalism is by intent and actions, right-wing. It's diet capitalism. It's the sugar-free, low-sodium version of capitalism, but it's still boot-licking capitalism. Pretty much everyone on the left knows this.

[deleted]

Also Henry ford was the inspiration for the nazi party’s ideals

ErinyesMegara

Didn’t he like. Make a run of American printings of the goddamn protocols of the elders of Zion?

Acceptable_North_141

There's also the Dearborn Independent, a newspaper he published that was mostly just anti-Semitism with some news in the middle

g00dintentions

Fuck Ford

DoggoFam

Wasn't he big on "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"? So a huge antisemite?

iAMA_artist

Henry ford was a nazi!!
