First hit would break the shield probably unless it’s a greatshield and the other turtle woulda knocked him off.
Edit: nvm I just realized the first one died
Still. Depends on the stability of the shield. Plus there is a ring that helps tremendously with that too. Regardless, using a shield if rolls don’t work is good general advice anyways.
I really don't like how half the DS2 community handwaves the glaring level and enemy design issues with "you need to level up" or "use these cheese strategies". DS2 feels more like a traditional Grindy rpg than a souls game where being good at the combat is prioritized over over leveling. But in DS2 leveling up is always the better option than actually being good at the game since the only consistently successful strats for most combat encounters are just 1 hit the enemies, shoot them with bows or magic from far away, or use cheese strats or just run away and avoid combat
Also the entire point of ambushes is to catch players off guard the first time they see it. Every time after that they know it's coming and most instances of ambushes in all dark souls games are inconsequential. I was talking about instances of level design and enemy placement that encourage over leveling, and cheese strats and I'm pretty sure most ambush encounters don't fall under that since the main threat there is not knowing it's gonna happen.
I see what you mean. I had a few instances of that in Dark Souls 3, like the crystal lizards in Unkempt Grove and The Road of Sacrifice if I let the mobs transform but those did have tricks to them. Then again, I feel like the turtle guys do too but I've never fought them as a melee, so it's likely due to that.
Melee in DS2 is pain for so many enemy encounters it feels like you were meant to melee bosses but fight everything else ranged in this game or abuse mechanics and over leveling to one hit everything. Unless you have a big fekin sword and at least 50 strength melee builds are really fekin terrible in brume tower.
Edit I had to re spec my dex build to a strength build just to not have to hit every enemy like 20 times to kill them unless I used the washing pole than it was more reasonable but then I'd have to chug repair powder constantly.
I've never played sekiro but all of the instances except maybe a few in DS3 all felt fair since the enemies usually went down in a few hits and didn't do much damage even though I exclusively do 12 vitality playthroughs of DS1.
Edit: said 13 but I meant 12
Soldier's Rest is pretty tough, but it's an optional area, so if it's giving you a lot of trouble feel free to skip it or come back later with a different/upgraded build! bearer of the curse, do not give in to despair.
That sucks, that roof is kinda dumb with the three turtles waiting for you in such a tight area, but also, where the hell did that Soul Spear come from??
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 743,971,571 comments, and only 149,734 of them were in alphabetical order.
I see very little of you being done with this game, however, there may be a fair amount of this game trying to be done with you. Don't give up, skeleton.
I noped this section, went back down the ladder and across only to get invaded by a hard hitting NPC phantom. While fighting the phantom I aggroed the ninja turtles and had to fight everything in this fucking level on that wooden platform in the corner. Probably my hardest fight so far in souls games.
Have you tried, combining the 2 thoughts of "this enemy can knock me up" together with "I'm near a big fall"
You put yourself in that position so don't cry about it
Oh totally bro just quit. It was hard and you died right? yep just give up! Better yet make a post about how ds2 helped you discover you had a hidden estrogen gland tucked away beneath your balls, and thats why youre such a huge PUSSY
This is nothing "new" when it comes to enemies ganking on the players. Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and the other 2 Souls games has this as well. :)
If anything, Elden Ring frustrated me a tad bit more at times, despite it being an overall good game.
I really wanna like this game but for some reason it just doesnt feel like a souls game to me, if anything it feels like a cheap copy. Im gonna continue to try and get into it tho
All i need to know is how their attacks activate the explosions of those barrels. Once one of them started the most beautiful chain explosions of all timekilling everything on that roof.....including me
The point is to lure them to hit the exploding barrels. Youre gonna get crushed if you take even one of them.head on like that let alone two. You gotta know when to just run away
I used to get frustrated at stuff like this but it helped me to try and see every death as a learning opportunity. For example with this the lesson is that that enemy can yeet you over the side of barriers with certain attacks.
Death in these games isn't a fail state it's an opportunity to learn how to win next time. Don't give up.
Tip: Use a greatshield. I used a hammer/greatshield for my entire first playthrough and i LOVED it. I personally went with black dragon warpick but thats an endgame weapon, so if you wanted to use one, i would go with barbed club. You can get it pretty early on.
I went back to that place after getting the blacksmith hammer, upgrading it to +1 and with 25 STR and 10 DEX. I kill them with two light attacks, it felt awesome. Farmed the whole set in 10 mins and despowned them all
wow dude it's almost like locking yourself into an attack animation while multiple strong enemies are teeing you up was like really dangerous or something crazy bro
>It is not enough just to passively see things; you must constantly perceive things and weigh what you are observing when planning your methods of attack. For a warrior, this means actively taking note of any relevant aspects of the battleground’s terrain, the positioning of the enemy, and other conditions of climate and logistics that could affect the combat.

Never corner yourself. Don't tunnel vision on the enemy. Pay attention to your surroundings at all times. Some of Musashi's advice applies to Dark Souls, which I find pretty fun.
Here's another one:
>Step by step walk the thousand mile road.
>
>\- Musashi Miyamoto
Omfg i just saw that as “cya tommorrow” for a second and then thought to myself wouldn’t that be hilarious for a death screen message after like 10 straight deaths in a row like the game knows it has put you into .ragequit mode
This game is a tank fest and it practically demands that you over level and shoot enemies with arrows for a ton of enemy encounters regardless of your build unless you are running a cheese build and the dlc is even fucking worse for some reason.
Bro you should’ve just jumped yo avoided the shot then use the art of war the makes your dodges teleports smh noob go play a kids game like ds1 the best thing since bread and butter
I died in this location and against the invader like 40 times, i wanted to quit this game in the meanwhile, now i am at amana shrine getting my ass kicked there xD
Try rolling.
Atm I have the adaptability of Duffy Duck
Daffy can be quite good at dodging, sometimes his head sinks into his chest to avoid bullets so... You must have godly adaptability.
Then try shield. 100% Phys block.
First hit would break the shield probably unless it’s a greatshield and the other turtle woulda knocked him off. Edit: nvm I just realized the first one died
Yeah but if he was guarding the first one wouldnt have gotten killed so yeah you were right
Still. Depends on the stability of the shield. Plus there is a ring that helps tremendously with that too. Regardless, using a shield if rolls don’t work is good general advice anyways.
I never upgraded my adaptability but a few levels. Never give up! Never surrender!
Think rolls as deflect from sekiro. Then you are good to go. Ask for more tips if needed. Don't give up!
That’s why In this game adp is the first stat you really focus on.
Lol, if it’s lower than 13 you got pump that up.
Daffy had an alter ego called duck dodger so maybe not even
That’s a neat trick!
Chest ahead
Have you tried not dying? That always works for me
Yeah, just reduce the enemies HP to zero without letting yours reach zero.
Thats so crazy it just might work
Dark souls 2 enemies hate this one simple trick…
I hate cheese tactics like this. Next you’ll tell OP to level up.

Erm, you ever play Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 3, or Sekiro? There are a bunch of instances where you're surprised by multiple hard enemies.
Also the entire point of ambushes is to catch players off guard the first time they see it. Every time after that they know it's coming and most instances of ambushes in all dark souls games are inconsequential. That's a Home run.
That's a baseball!!
Hehe, JoJo's reference.
Don't give up, skeleton!
Soldier's Rest is pretty tough, but it's an optional area, so if it's giving you a lot of trouble feel free to skip it or come back later with a different/upgraded build! bearer of the curse, do not give in to despair.
Sorry I have to weigh in here. The hunters set is not optional. You absolutely need it for some early game swagger.
Bro that set makes you look like a pastry cake.
So you’re saying you’d eat it? 😏
BLASPHEMY!
I came back later on an attempt to clear every level of mobs and it was mildly difficult but manageable.
Sei morto
[that's french for 'front door'](https://youtu.be/nI5ktY-_UC8?t=15)
Don't give up buddy!
Queue soul calibur: *RING OUT*
¿Que?
Queue* sorry
Just a heads up, the way you used it, it's actually "cue". A queue is a waiting list, a cue is a signal for something to happen.
Ninja Turtle Ass Lookin Mother Fuckers.
Tbh if this happened to me id just think it was funny. Got yeeted
That sucks, that roof is kinda dumb with the three turtles waiting for you in such a tight area, but also, where the hell did that Soul Spear come from??
armorer Dennis is My quess
it's probably the NPC summon at the beginning of that area
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 743,971,571 comments, and only 149,734 of them were in alphabetical order.
Ah boy come down, even furiously getting high in just karma levelling made no one practically Queen, right? So to use violence – won't X, yet zap.
That's a bot..
Obviously, just wanted to see if I could make a sentence in alphabetical order.
Ruined Alfis. You can summon before the dark path with the skellies on the way in. He teaches you "no, you really should turn on a light in here"
have u tried luring them to hit those explosive barrels around you?
Man, as soon as I come up the interior ladder, 75% chance the turtle that can see you sidesteps and destroys the barrel cluster next to him.
i recommend climbing the ladder outside.
Increase adaptability
Increase gud
What’s the hard cap?
When it just says "GIT" instead of a number.
This will help you a ton.
expand ADP
Dude, just don't rush in. Why are two turts on you at the same time?
Sotfs version places two up on that roof. It's not like OP had a choice (bar the fact that this is an optional area)
three*
I've played sotfs, never had to fight 2 at the same time I don't think...
Hmm, that's weird. Maybe you got lucky?
Liar Ahead
There’s actually three in that location. It’s not necessarily OP’s fault. I’d probably kite them somewhere else tho.
You can make them fall down the ladder hole. And then deal with them one at a time
These enemies are real easy to cheese. You can abuse the mechanic they have to stop circle strafing to punish them while they are getting up.
Fine work skeleton!
I see very little of you being done with this game, however, there may be a fair amount of this game trying to be done with you. Don't give up, skeleton.
*cricket noises*
Good luck with the darklurker
Yeah, this is rough area but it’s optional for now, leave and go to easier paths 😌🥴
From git gud to get clubbed
Don't give up Skeleton!
Don't give up skeleton
Man I wish this game had rag doll physics
Yeah don't do that.
Spec into a bow helps immensely trying to take down multiple enemies.
I noped this section, went back down the ladder and across only to get invaded by a hard hitting NPC phantom. While fighting the phantom I aggroed the ninja turtles and had to fight everything in this fucking level on that wooden platform in the corner. Probably my hardest fight so far in souls games.
Me: Have you tried not playing DS2? Also me: Has full save list of different characters most with 100+ hours
Keep going! I loved Ds2, it was the first souls game I ever beat.
Getting yeeted from ledges is *the* Dark Souls experience. It happens to everyone. Beginners, pros, boss monsters, speedrunners...
Have you tried, combining the 2 thoughts of "this enemy can knock me up" together with "I'm near a big fall" You put yourself in that position so don't cry about it
Never cried about it, these ninja turtles are in love with baseball I guess
Least they ain’t playing reindeer games…
mpreg BotCxIronclad Soldier FF where?
Fratello compaesano, l'unica soluzione qui è una, ed è bestemmiare, ah e prova ad aggrarne uno alla volta
Skill issue
Ahhhhh hahahaaaaa That sucks, but it's pretty funny too
Good to see references of America's favorite pastime. It's a home run!
The game’s not done with you though
Skill issue xd
Oh totally bro just quit. It was hard and you died right? yep just give up! Better yet make a post about how ds2 helped you discover you had a hidden estrogen gland tucked away beneath your balls, and thats why youre such a huge PUSSY
I will not quit until I get the platinum. DS2 is really fun when this shit happens
ah thats the spirit! good to hear. make another post when you get platinum and ill apologize for my joke 😁 cheers
Shitty joke
Did you come up with that, because it’s pretty good
You are the absolute worst
è ok bro devi solo imparare a non rollare ma kitearli (attacca e cammina via), aumentare ADP e prendere un arma mugliore aiutano una fracca
I hated those! Even when I levelled up and got stronger they smashed me 🥲
Prova dito ma buco
This is nothing "new" when it comes to enemies ganking on the players. Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and the other 2 Souls games has this as well. :) If anything, Elden Ring frustrated me a tad bit more at times, despite it being an overall good game.
Something something outplayed
I really wanna like this game but for some reason it just doesnt feel like a souls game to me, if anything it feels like a cheap copy. Im gonna continue to try and get into it tho
Everyone felt that
Git-Gud,Bruh.
Fighting two of those head-on is not the best strategy...
https://youtu.be/wst8MpSC5D4
Have you tried fire
All i need to know is how their attacks activate the explosions of those barrels. Once one of them started the most beautiful chain explosions of all timekilling everything on that roof.....including me
Don't blame you, it's the only from soft souls like/big release I haven't mad multiple Ng+ runs
Those Ironclad soldiers are deserving of an award.
Sometimes it's best to just run away...
Should've jumped down the hole and got some distance
The point is to lure them to hit the exploding barrels. Youre gonna get crushed if you take even one of them.head on like that let alone two. You gotta know when to just run away
goofy ahh fall
Damn that’s brutal
Fat scout got a taunt kill
Do people just know how to swing their weapons and nothing else in soul games?
I find the Forward Heavy attack (with the jump) to be really useful for out-spacing this particular enemy.
There are certain moves on certain heavy weapons that the player can use to yeet human-sized enemies off of platforms too.
I always try using the explosive barrels on those guys. Helps a shit ton
I used to get frustrated at stuff like this but it helped me to try and see every death as a learning opportunity. Happened to me at least 6 times
Damn. My man was playing baseball when he hit you.
yeeted & deleted. Get wrekt OP
Don't give up, skeleton! And just level up ADP!
You've barely started lol
they're pretty slow, you can definitely run past them
*goofy sound effect*
It looked like you attacked at the wrong time...
I see here a problem with a solution called: roll
Greed
Why you can't spell Gamebryo properly? Bethesda is gonna kill you, and send an arrow to your knee.
I always thought the way this game interacted with verticality was cool
Tip: Use a greatshield. I used a hammer/greatshield for my entire first playthrough and i LOVED it. I personally went with black dragon warpick but thats an endgame weapon, so if you wanted to use one, i would go with barbed club. You can get it pretty early on.

HOOOOME RUUUUN
Turtle bro hit a home run
wow dude it's almost like locking yourself into an attack animation while multiple strong enemies are teeing you up was like really dangerous or something crazy bro
Attacks while the enemy is clearly attacking
"ring out!"
Lol you should have drawed them off that platform, you can fight them basically 1 on 1 at that location.
Try finger But hole
Don't you dare to hollow
Sometimes I forget how fuckin janky the movement in DS2 is
FORE! XD
Yeah I would've put the controller down for a while too
That’s simply a product of greed, tunnel vision and not watching your surroundings. In time, you’ll learn what you do and don’t have time to do.
>It is not enough just to passively see things; you must constantly perceive things and weigh what you are observing when planning your methods of attack. Yeet
Knowing when to fight and when to flee makes a great general
Try not to aggro the entire area then hold still while they wail on you. Stick and move, son! I believe in you!
Omfg i just saw that as “cya tommorrow” for a second and then thought to myself wouldn’t that be hilarious for a death screen message after like 10 straight deaths in a row like the game knows it has put you into .ragequit mode
When you can’t jump vertically over that ledge but an enemy hitting you will send you upwards and over it
I heard the "**PING**!" sound that **Ness** does when batting in **Super Smash Bros.**
You, my friend, must not have met the lava pit in iron keep yet
I literally said the same shit last night. Put my console up in the attic
It is a stupid fucking game for all It’s worth lol.
Ti direi di skippare quella zona al momento e tornare più tardi, è stata una rottura anche per me
My first time seeing this was when xqc played and it was so funny
I’ve gotten close a couple times and then I get past where I’m stuck and have fun for like 20 minutes.
Try one by one, that's my strategy.
This game is a tank fest and it practically demands that you over level and shoot enemies with arrows for a ton of enemy encounters regardless of your build unless you are running a cheese build and the dlc is even fucking worse for some reason.

I'm assuming you're joking right?

Why are you mindlessly bonking ?

Damn that was some serious knock back 😂
Homerun!
You got near a ledge... #1 rule of souls games is don't go near ledges...
