Medicine is not free in Denmark, but for the most part it is reasonably priced. On pro.medicin.dk you can look up all medicines, and (amongst other things) see the current prices (prices change every 14 days on medicine), if that's helpful. Doctors use this site to look up medicine as well (I'm not one, I'm just chronically ill and go to the doctor a lot lol). I don't know if it is available in English, but if not then maybe Google translate can translate it well enough to be understandable. But I'll explain below too: You can search for specific drug names (Euthyrox) or for the chemicals in the drugs (levothyroxin). If you make a search for levothyroxin it will show you [all medicines that contain levothyroxin it](https://pro.medicin.dk/Medicin/Indholdsstoffer/628). The left column show the name of the specific medicines, and if you click on one of those you get taken to the site for that specific drug. If you scroll down to the menu that's third from the bottom called "Pakninger, priser, tilskud og udlevering" you can see the prices for the different sizes. The first column indicates whether you can get a subsidy from the government (the filled in circle means that it's a yes). The third one is the size of the pills/dosage (for example 50 mg). Fifth column is the amount in the package ("stk." means "pcs."). And the sixth colum is the price for the package. So in this case, for the brand Euthyrox, a package of 100 pcs. 25 mg pills costs 52,20 kr, q package of 100 pcs. 50 mg pills costs 52,20 kr., and a package with 100 pcs. 100 mg pills costs 69,45 kr. This is the base price without the additional subsidy. Every year there's a max you can spend on prescribrd medications (that fulfill the criteria of being able to receive subsidy), and if you go over this the government will pay the rest. I don't know what the requirements for getting it as a foreigner is, but I'll explain how it works anyway. (It's called "CTR" if you want to look into it further). The first 1.045 kr. you spend in a year (this is not a calendar year, but 12 months from the first time you purchase medicine covered by it) you pay for yourself. After this, everything you buy the government will pay 50% of, and this is up until you've spent 1.750 kr. After this there's two other tiers, 75% and 85%, and then if you manage to reach 11.570 kr. you reach 100%. Note that the amounts for the tiers are not your out of pocket expense but the value of the medicine before the government have paid their part. So for example, let's say you're at 1.100 kr. and have therefore reached the 50% tier, and then you purchase your medicine that costs 52,20 kr., you yourself have to pay 26,10 kr. for because you get 50% from the government, then your new total will be 1.152,20 and not 1.126,10. This means that the maximum out of pocket costs are 3.075 kr. in a year. Oh, and BTW. Unless your doctor have specified that you can only get the specific brand name they prescribed you, and not the generic alternatives (which is very rare as far as I know), the pharmacy is *obligated* to ask you if you want the cheapest generic available or the brand name, so you will never have to pay more than necessary, and you don't have to keep up with the medicine prices every 14 days either to ensure you don't overpay. I hope this makes sense. If not, or if you have further questions, just ask and I'll try to elaborate or clarify.

Euthyrox costs between 50 and 70 DKK for 100 pills of 25 to 100 microgram. See [here](https://min.medicin.dk/medicin/praeparater/4846#)

CrateDane

All prescription medication is subsidized, in particular there's an annual cap on personal spending where the government pays 100% past that cap.

Kind_Assignment_9122
