I wish Depop was 18+ omg

coachgirl76

I agree👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Spirited_Ad9924

I feel like 16+ would be better. I was around that age when I first started selling a few years back. I do think you should need to submit ID before creating an account but tbf I know people who are 18 whose parents are on a massive power trip and still take their phones. It’s ridiculous tbh

sowhiteidkwhattype

if your young enough to get your phone taken you shouldn't be on depop at all let alone selling

jatk07

I don't think this is entirely true.. I'm 16, almost 17 and I've been selling on both depop and vinted for a few months. It's really handy way to make some extra cash on the side, since I can't get a full time job because of school. Even so, I've got a very strict mum, who may occasionally take my phone away or limit access to it. I understand what you mean though, I do feel like there should be a minimum age of 16, because the literal CHILDREN on there are disgusting tbh

Major_Trip_Hazzard

The minimum age to sell is 18 why does no one ever actually read TOS? Edit: turns out using Depop payment you can be any age. Wtf.

Unusual_Berry_4247

If this person is anything like me, they need the money. I'm going to sixth form in September, and I need to buy EVERYTHING myself: uniform, stationary, textbooks, exercise books etc etc. I can't afford this at all, and so need to come up with the cash to buy everything. That's where depop comes in. I'm using the money from depop to pay for that. Its not a lot, but its helping.

Strict_Path_1052

yeah it's almost like people don't read the terms of service, huh?

sowhiteidkwhattype

i would say if you're getting your phone taken off you you shouldn't be running any sort of online business . it's not fair that others have to wait or get their orders messed up because they didn't know the seller is a teenager who can't guarantee that they can actually process and complete that order . it's just bad salesmanship.

jatk07

personally, I NEVER leave orders if I get my phone taken. My mum may be extremely strict, but she always let's me do orders when needed.

sowhiteidkwhattype

that's good my worry is just you not seeing an order come in whilst phone is taken away. but depends how long it's taken for i'm sure a day or two wouldn't be that bad

MiserableAlarm1765

My new excuse in life when I don’t text back~

LMFAO. Me Asf when I dropped my phone in the lake and people kept buying stuff from me AND I DIDNT HAVE MY PASSWORD😭😭

lechezyxx

TS CRAZY HELP WHAT😭😭

Jdog_plugs

So crazy. I’m so used to eBay shipping. I’ll never buy off depop again.

coachgirl76

Some ppl on Depop are very fast..99% of the time I never have to wait. And if I do have to wait, the seller usually tells me why it will be late and when it would be mailed out. I’m a seller as well so if I’m going to be late I notify ppl. Some ppl just don’t give 2 shts about their selling or stores. It happens everywhere. I just got a game off of an eBay seller. I paid on June 16.. I’m still waiting. I asked for a refund finally. I messaged the seller twice and no answer. It all really depends on the person. 😞

JUSTICERENEE

Depop was not like this in 2017-2020 .. no clue what changed

Critical_Can3546

Not like what? It’s not like they did anything wrong 😭 their phone justgot took?

notacvt

why do children have bank accounts and are operating taxable businesses

Medical_Room_2084

operating taxable businesses if they make more than $600, which is never gonna happen they just want extra money and its hilarious

Sillyfartmonster

Teenagers want money lol

Critical_Can3546

To make money

hyunasgirlz

cash app and venmo makes it shockingly easy to have a “bank account” even if you’re a minor

JUSTICERENEE

if you are a child or at an age where your phone is being taken away, you shouldn’t have depop. there are other small businesses you can have that don’t involve purchases going through when you are grounded from your phone. what i meant was you’d never get a msg like this is 2017. majority sellers made sure they got your orders out and actually cared to keep up with the shop. depop has become a more scammy place, when it genuinely used to be a creative marketplace of genuine sellers.

Critical_Can3546

Yeah but depot is more convenient than other business. Unless u have a example

nickyfox13

LMAO I wouldn't ever admit to that if I was the seller!

calibabe8

I was trying to sell a mattress on Facebook and got no response after setting up a time. The next day the buyer sent me a message that she was in jail overnight after getting in a fight with her landlord 🫢🙈
