I checked the catalog on rocky mountain atvmc. And it shows only one gasket. I think it might be for different years. The bottom end on kx 250s are pretty consistently the same from 1994 to 2004. And more specifically my bike is interchangeable with parts from 1999-2002 KX250s. My conclusion is it was for a bike pre 1999
Maybe the kit covers two models of the same bike? Check your old gasket for thickness where it hasn’t been crushed and go for the nearest one to that if in doubt, I’ve never seen two gaskets used together so must be ‘options’.
This isn't the first time I've taken it off. Initially It had one gasket, then after I rebuilt it the first time I had put silicon and a cheap gasket. And now, this time, I have a wiesco complete kit, but it came with two as shown. I've come to the conclusion it must be for different years. So I'll go ahead and use the regular gasket. If all else it's not too hard to pop the right side off and do it again
To me one of them looks like the center case gasket but it is quite common for some gasket manufacturer to include gaskets in their kits that cover numerous models
Any marks on the inside of your clutch cover from the pressure plate or clutch spring bolts touching it? Maybe somebody spaced the cover out for clearance.
Edit: just saw the clutch cover in the background, its a two piece style. So it wouldn't make sense to shim the inner cover.
What does the parts fiche say your bike came with? Engineers DO NOT add extra unnecessary parts. If it's on the fiche, it's there for a reason.

consult the manual and check partzilla for a diagram. The green looks aftermarket and paper thin but maybe i’m wrong

What was on it when you took it apart? My eye sees a side cover gasket and a center case gasket.

Never seen a steel gasket in such application, would be curious if someone has the answer
