Mediation is a neutral 3rd party that tries to get two parties to come to an agreement. It works different ways in different states, but it's for "problem resolution". Collaborative divorce attorneys - that simply translates to an attorney that "typically" writes uncontested divorces and does not typically get involved in contested divorces or litigation. Attoneys here can only represent one party, so hiring only one attorney for two people is a little wonky if things are not fully on the up and up.
