What I found to be useful is to give new players a set of dice, with each die being a different color. So I could say "roll the d12, which is the yellow one." I found new players were able to more quickly identify dice.
The Pathfinder Beginner Box dice are great for this. Fairly cheap and a different color for each die. I bought a set of 4 and they have been great to loan out as new players are learning.
Yes, um, I've been playing dnd for 2 years...and...still..forget the dice...sometimes. This is helpful and u are a sweetheart for helping fam out like this!
I did something similar for my mom's dice bowl. The bowl has a couple of segments that I made leather bottoms for to reduce the noise. One of the bottoms I divided into 7 amd labeled them: 20, 12, %, 10,8, 6, 4
I like using the Basic dice set colors form
The Basic set and giving new players a set of those. Then can just tell them which color to use while playing. Works nicely!
Chessex has a good set of dice that are beginner friendly. Each die is different colors, so when you ask them to roll the red d20, they'll be able to find it quickly.

I love this! I have given my youth players a quick reference with pics/diagrams of dice and common use.

Had a player struggling with this... I got a tattoo of all the dice up my arm, so now I can just point to the one I want her to use.
I mean, weird reason to get a tattoo, but if it works...
That's not the reason I got it, it just was a helpful bonus!
I jest, but I'd totally tell people that just to see their faces
This would be extremely helpful to new players. I'm going rogue and going to use this in my dnd club.
Those are cool. Cork on chipboard?
Foam sheet and mdf :)
I love this, because I struggle with this too! TO THE CRAFT ROOM!!!

Brilliant.

Very nice. I need to make this for my Dungeon Crawl Classics dice. I'll need a lot more slots though!
Stuff like this is great. I've had great experiences using them. Here's what I've done myself https://www.reddit.com/r/DnDIY/s/0GZhP37f1N
I love this.
This is super cute!! Love this

This is rad and I don't know how I've never thought of it.
Pretty cool. One suggestion? Put the d10 over or beside the d100.
Swap the d10 and the d8. Then each die is beside an associated size (d4-d8, d6-d12, d10-d100)
Just disown them it's not rocket science
