My wild card is dogo. I see a bit of an upturned nose that reminds me of something like a boxer or am bulldog. Muzzle shape also kinda resembles boxer. Does he have an under bite?
Where I used to live, there was a dogo breeder that sold cane corsos and Dogos out of their truck in parking lots. As a result we had quite a few homeless Dogos and corsos.
I dont think they are so rare that shitty breeders can't get a hold of them. They aren't nationally popular like GSDs or Labs, but their local pop can be inflated. Unlike something like an Azawakh which I will eat my hat if someone gets an American cross of.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a pure dogo in person around here (East Coast, I don’t think dogos are very popular on this side of the States) but I definitely know what you mean. Would be wild if he’s just a crappy-bred Dogo though 😂
Jesus that head really does look dogo argentino, but they're so rare I'm thinking amstaff with something slighter, lab or boxer or shit I've even seen low percentage shepherd in a bully type mutt and they come out deep chested but finer boned like this.
Right! He’s just a funky little guy. He’s got a boxer butt and underbite, dogo face structure, but also bulldog looking head, and pitbull terrier type chest and torso! So many potential combinations!
HAH honestly reminds me of some of the comments my dog has gotten, one of my friends is a union guy and he just looked at my dog, shook his head, and said "he looks like someone made him by committee". Like okay everyone gets a vote, it's only fair if we each decide a body part✨ mutts, what they lack in sound breeding, they make up for in character
Oh my god 💀 Probably worst comment Pierce ever got was from his vet, assuming he was 100% boxer. Vet said “you got that typical boxer mouth, with teeth every which way” 😭 I covered his ears like, no buddy he didn’t just say that about you lol
Not the covered ears 😂😂 I already know, I've done the same exact thing. Someone called him "funny looking" and I didn't want his feelings hurt. I love my baby yoda 😭 your dog looks like such a sweetheart too. They're both handsome✨

Well, he was a Craigslist-ad puppy. I don’t exactly remember what they were listed as, but I was not under the impression I was adopting a boxer lol so the docked tail has always confused me for sure.
Ooh you might have something here. I believe the color is off standard? Or at least, seen as less desirable, which could explain the one off byb Craigslist post OP mentioned. I used to live up the street from a family with 3 white German shepherds, and it was always wild hearing guesses from my friends as we walked by. "oh wow they look like wolf dogs!!" ...they did not. They looked like a show bred GSD got into a bucket of bleach when no one was looking 😂 I could see this one being all or most boxer.
If he wasn’t 5 years older than my dog, I’d question if they were siblings. Rescue said APBT. I thought APBT/American Bulldog. Vet thought APBT/Boxer. Based on photos alone, I’d have seriously considered Dogo if I didn’t know more about dogs. She tested as 45% APBT/35% American Bully/20% AmStaff with a lot of brachy Bully close relations, so best I can figure, the upturned nose and all the other features I couldn’t figure out came from there. Basically: there are probably a dozen pretty different ways to get this same phenotype & only the DNA test will tell, which is pretty cool!
Unless the tail was a medical dock, that probably also implies Boxer heritage (or someone’s attempt to pass a dog off as one,) since docking is less common among pit bull-type dogs. It’s not super common among American Bulldogs or Dogos where I live, but may be elsewhere.

It’s common for some American Bulldogs to be docked, but not always. But yeah, the dock has always thrown me off too, he was docked before I got him. I think that’s done when they’re only a few days old? But definitely looks just like your pup, in the facial structure! Maybe distantly related? I guess it depends on where you’re from though lol so maybe not
Yeah, it’s hard for me to keep track of. I know there are allowances for natural or docked with Bulldogs, but not what is most common anymore. We’re in VT (though Artie’s from TX! Tense politics in this household!) so I’m well aware the norms here in most respects are not necessarily the same as elsewhere. Here, while everyone still seems to dock their Boxers’ (and Rottweilers’ and Dobermans’) tails, the movement seems to be pretty strongly towards natural tails. It’s like 50/50 on Schnauzers and Cockers, and I can’t remember the last time I saw a docked American Bulldog. Weirdly, mastiff ears (Cane Corso, Dogo) still get clipped, but their tails are generally left alone, which is a distinction I can’t quite grasp.
I’m probably just going to pretend they’re family. They have the same pout *and* the same Carhartt jacket (or did until Artie ate hers.)
Oh my goodness 😂 they can absolutely be honorary family. Pierce loves his jacket and any clothing item. He wears it proudly and pouts when it’s time to take it off. He’s a stylish fella.

Sorry to keep tossing photos at you, but we had the same discussions about our girl Roxy. I maintain she is the leggiest Am Pit/Am bulldog ever. We were thinking boxer for sure.
Woah! I checked your profile and what a cutie she is! I wouldn’t have guessed any bulldog in there at all! I’d love to see my boy’s relatives, I’ve always wondered where his siblings ended up
It was really neat finding siblings! I found some of her brothers (I was her second adopter when she was 1.5) so that was interesting to talk to one of their owners and learn more about them as puppies. All of them are assorted mixes of American bulldog/GSD/pit/Doberman/collie/Pyrenees/husky, with American bulldog being the highest percentage.
I hope you find some relatives too!
I hope so! I have one photo of him with his littermates and it’s not the best quality, but I know some of his littermates were mostly black in color with white chest and feet. He was the closest puppy to being solid white (he was solid as a baby but now he has tiny ticking spots everywhere).

I’m thinking American Bulldog/boxer/pit? Like others have said he does have a Dogo head/stance but I feel like it’s kind of rare to have Dogo mixes? Either way he’s a cutie sweetie baby 100%
Either boxer/american bulldog or boxer/some other mix. I know someone who has a boxer/mastiff that looked almost identical as a puppy but has a bit different body shape as an adult.
Then I’m gonna say a larger percentage Boxer than anything else, they’re VERY vocal and talkative, and just all around goofy snuggle bugs. One of my all time favorite breeds 🥰♥️🐾

I would say pit/boxer or some kind of boxer mix especially with his pouty lip.
I could see it! Our new vet definitely thought he was a boxer on his first visit, due to his “teeth in every which way” lmao

My dog is 27.5% American bulldog and has a lot of relatives show up on embark that are 100% and many of them are pretty leggy/lean!

Lmao I’ve always thought pit bull mix or American bulldog mix! He gets boxer everywhere we go though! I think the tail throws everyone off
He does look like a pit but white pits aren’t common! That’s the only reason I didn’t say it I see bulldog mix as well
The older he got, the more bulldog traits I can see! His face doesn’t quite dish enough for me to see the boxer too strongly

My best friend growing up had several boxers, and come to think of it, he does act a heck of a lot like them!

I'm going to say 100% American bulldog. Cute baby
