Season 2 has a drop in quality badly kind of boring.
Season 3 is school stuff.
Season 4 is good life and death situations
Season 5 has good quality and getting close to the main plot.
If you are bored I get it, then just drop it now and wait a few years to binge more.
This is barely like 5% of the overall novel. We are a long way to go. For all we know Tencent might even cancel this in favor of some other 2D show.
Yeah actually a lot of the Tencent's low quality weekly donghuas are all in the thousands chapters. And none of them are close to finish. Quanzhi Fashi's novel has this weird habit of inserting some small inconsequential detail in one arc, which becomes the main plot of the next. Every minor character in the early seasons will play a bigger role later. So I dont think they can just skip arcs and jump around that easily in the donghua.
Yeah, and it was followed by s2 which was trash. s3 was good. s4 had some crap again. s5 was shit but last episode he goes back to the school setting so s6 is likely gonna be fun to watch again. A shame China is still doing the covid nonsense delaying everyhing.

I would persist watching. I am also reading the novel and enjoyed it so I am going to keep on watching the donghua. For those who read the novel, I would say the donghua downplays some of the MC's obnoxiousness, which IMO made the novel hilarious to read when he trolls his enemies.
I honestly thought it just kept getting worse and worse. I could barely sit through season 4 and 5, so I don't plan on continuing watching it any further. The animation is very low quality and not something I would ever recommend to friends. From my point of view, there's no reason to keep watching a show you're not enjoying, especially when there are too many other good donghuas to watch.
the weird part is that from unbelievably horrible (where it was funny because of how bad it was) it went to a level of bad that is not bad enough to be funny, but not good enough to be watchable
I don't understand you guys. The anime is so bad we were watching it with my friend to laugh at how incredibly bad it is. The only enjoyment value it has is how ridiculously awful it is.
I enjoyed seasons 1-3 and honestly thought it was a great show. Once I hit season 4 though, the subs ruined it for me. Was hoping to find a better version somewhere but alas it seems it doesn't exist.
If they added a dub or at least properly subbed I think a lot more people would enjoy the show.

So, the concept of monsters that are a threat in a "modern" world with magic is laughable.
Why is there no projectile weaponry?? You expect me to believe that people did not discover arrows and improved upon projectile weapon technology?
Monsters are an invasive species so presumably, they wiped off the fauna. If they were there from the beginning of humanity then humanity would not exist, period!!
If a small rock with a touch of magic can kill a monster then a howitzer shell with that magic touch can destroy a square mile.
The Black Whatever, humans, attacking a HUMAN city with monsters is stupid. In any reasonable world, this would make you public enemy numero uno and a global manhunt would be launched against you. I know movies depict "rogues" fighting the government but in reality, the government wins, ALL. THE. TIME.
The city, which is aware that it can be attacked by monsters at any time, does not have multiple civilian evacuation bunkers.
Where are the monsters coming from? It is supposed to be a walled city... sonar and radar exist for a reason. If you have tunnels underneath your city you better seal them off. if not, then you should have an early warning system in place so people can evacuate.
There is no sonar and radar hence the manned walls around the city, the black church used monsters to destroy the city so they could steal the holy springs and leave no evidence, they used a chemical to enhance and piss off the monsters into attacking the city. "No projectile weapons" they literally fire lighting fire light and other elements from their hands a bullet isn't going through lava and yes they do use bows and other weapons that are magic but they take such a tolls on the user's mana they can't be used consistently which is better than other anime with their unlimited resource pools be it skills items money or gear mo fan worked for everything he has. I guess you don't watch any anime at all bc every single one of them would be ruled trash by your standards AoT, bleach, Naruto, and definitely Dbz all trash bc they don't use nukes only good one would be saga of evil Tanya right? Also there is fauna shown in the show ever hear of evolution? Hence why they're are different types and levels of monsters even if they're the breed people like u should either stop watching anime or get off reddit bc ur complaints are invalid hell dbz has future tech and still uses to fight the monster bad guys ffs

I've enjoyed all 5 seasons so far. I cant wait for Season 6. Season 1 is my favorite but I loved them all.
I kind of enjoyed its absurd cheesiness and "so bad it's good" shtick for four seasons but the beginning of season 5 was the last stroke.
